Fast Charging not working? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

What's the deal? I'm using the stock charger and it doesn't say fast charging. In addition, no way to enable it under battery settings.
Did sprint disable it temporarily by default? Read there were some heat issues causing fast charging and s6 Edge issues. Maybe they disabled it until new firmware? I got one of the newer inventory models that is the platinum gold-colored 32gb that was not available until 4/27. I'm on build OCF, says it's fully updated. Perplexed because I've read the battery options shows a toggle for fast charge (which mine doesn't).
Someone educate me!

Update:
Very odd. Once I used an older USB cable from my s4 with the new fast charge AC adapter, fast charging worked! However with the USB cord that came with the S6 Edge it would only do a regular charge. No idea why, but if they have cable issues with what was shipped out, it's going to cause a lot of headaches for tech support and warranty claims etc.
I see others having tho issue also.

Yeah I changed cords and now fast charger is working. Kind of a big screw up by Samsung to ship with the wrong cord.

They'll pay for it in tech support calls and replacements, etc. You can bet some entire phones get replaced because some idiots didnt check the cord itself.

[Q] Random vibrations?

Having a bit of a strange issue where my Galaxy S3 will randomly vibrate/wake for no reason when plugged into a T-Mobile universal wall charger. Seems to happen when the phone is jostled or picked up; it will turn the screen on and vibrate as if I had a notification, but I don't. The charger is a little bit old, since it was purchased with a BlackBerry about 2 years ago, so perhaps that's the reason. I was just wondering if this is something to worry about, like my USB connector going bad or something. It doesn't seem to do this when plugged into other chargers (will occasionally do this when charging on the OEM Samsung dock, but rarely). Thanks in advance.

It could be the charger that you are using. I have the same issue using my old DX charger but not with the charger that came with the GS3. With the older chargers it tends to lose connection and the connect backup, as if you unplugged it and plugged it back in.
Yeah that makes sense; do you know if I might have damaged the charging port by using that old charger or is that unlikely? I haven't really noticed any other issues with charging so I'm hoping everything is fine. Made sure to stop using that charger just in case though.

I still use the charger, it's just not idea if you are looking at something when it is plugged in. As far as it damaging the port I don't think so, unless your trying to plug it in upside down!!
I think the charger that came with the S3 just fits tighter and the older chargers may just be worn down by use. That's just my thoughs!!

Ok good, that's good to know. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it

Very strange charging problem!

Ok, first a little background on this issue...
After having my S3 for about 13-14 months I started having charging issues. The charging port was very "loose" and I had to make sure my charger cable was in just right to get my phone to charge. This was annoying, however was out of warranty and didn't want to pay vzw for an insurance claim. This got worse, and eventually I noticed my phone would only charge with 1 specific usb cable, 1 specific wall charger, and 1 specific car charger.
Well, I finally called Samsung and explained the situation to them and they had me chip my phone to them and they would repair it, free of charge. When they had it, they replaced the charging port, the headphone jack, and the screen. I received the phone back after couple weeks, super excited, and immediately charged it up with the cable I had next to my bed. New charging port felt perfect, nice snug fit, etc... Well, after a few days i hooked it up with the original usb cable that came with the phone, nothing happened. So i started messing around and realized that the only usb cables that will charge my phone are Motorola brand cables! At least the 2 cables I have work, and not a single other cable I've tried works! This includes stock Samsung cable, many cheap 3rd party cables, other friend's S3 cables, none work. Also, I have this cheap car charger that is the type you plug a USB cable into that works, however any other car charger I've tried does not work either.
Also, when i say the cables won't charge my phone, it also won't connect the phone to a PC. They do absolutely nothing.
Does anyone have ANY idea why this is happening?!?! It was an issue before Samsung repaired my phone, they replaced the charging port, but I still have this issue!! I can send it back to Samsung for them to look at it again, however my backup phone, a Razr Maxx, just died also. Seems like the battery went dead and now I can't get it to charge, but that's another issue.
So, any ideas?!

What rom/kernal
It doesn't matter. It does this when it is totally stock and rooted. Right now I'm not rooted or anything because it looks like it may be going back to Samsung again.

I think the smart charging circuit may be messed up
Really? How would that cause the phone to not work with any cable except a certain brand?? I'm just really curious and this is driving me insane!!

I would say you are putting mechanical stress on the charging port. This could be from some misaligned or mis-made cable or somehow pressing or pulling the charge cable when its connected. I've never seen this reported by anyone else, but the mechanical connections are not indestructible. If it were a common symptom with 100 million S3s having been sold, there would be a firestorm of complaints.
I have a similar issue. I'm not sure if it's the device or the ROM (CM nightlies).
Certain cables force the screen to turn back on, which means I get negative charge because the screen burns more than the charger is capable of supplying. Other cables are fine. I'm still looking for the pattern, it's super annoying and causes me to have to turn my phone off completely at times so as not to lose my battery altogether. I'm still trying to solve this, any help would be appreciated.

Further info- it's not the cable, it's the converter at the end. I think it has to do with amperage of the charger- if I use the stock samsung one I'm good, it's putting out 1.0A. If I use others that are fewer amps (like 700 mA) it's unpredictable. I suspect a kernel thing, I might download different kernels to play with it.

Always use chargers that is 1 A - 2A the circuit controls most of the charging regulating amps and voltage
Yes, I agree about using good chargers, but my phone wasn't always this way. It used to charge with anything, but no longer.
I enabled fast charge on Imosyen's lean kernel. That might have made a difference, but I'm not positive yet.

Fast Charge + Belkin Cable = No charge?

Hey guys,
So got my S8+ and so far very happy. I'm having an issue of sorts, where if I use the original wall adaptor and a 3rd party cable such as Belkin, my phone says it's charging but the percentage stays the same. I've tested this with a brand new Belkin USB-C 1.8M cable and a USB micro cable using the included adaptor.
It was on 8% when I went to bed, and 8% when I first woke up. Changing the settings to disable fast charging made them work, but this seems like it could generate a lot of problems for people who don't even know about fast charging, especially as it's on by default.
Anyone else noticed this?
Sounds like a faulty cable.

I originally thought that, but surely can't be the case if I have two cables doing it? And if it charged fine without fast charging, is that still a possibility? As the only thing that changes is voltage I believe?

Your belkin cables are ok BUT not compatible with fast charging. I THINK the phone must talk some way to charger to enable fast charging but your cables are not transmitting that info to the cgarger.
I advise you to buy original samsung spare cables.

I know this, but generally if the device detects that the cable is not compatible with fast charging, it falls back to normal charging. That's how it was with my S7 Edge.
I'm just imagining all the people reporting their phone as faulty when it's not.

Galaxy S8+ 'Slow Charging'

Evening All
So the last few weeks my S8 has been charging really slow.. it doesn't actually say 'Slow Charging', it still pops up with Fast Charging when plugged in (original charger with no damage).
It used to charge from pretty much dead to full in about an hour or so but now it's completely different. When I plug it in from about 20% it says around 2 hours to fully charged with fast charge.
Anyone else had this issue? My charger seems fine, always treated it well etc. My carrier (EE) has told me to contact Samsung but I just thought this would be worth a shot first.
Thanks
Steve

Even original cable charger works both ways, one side its slow charger and other side is fast. Try to change charger sides in the phone.

I am experiencing the exact same problem with my s8 plus. Its just been the past few weeks. I've tried switching out the cable and the AC adapter and nothing. I think I read somewhere that a recent update killed fast charging on some s8 plus models so I'm hoping that If it is a software issue it will be fixed when they roll out the next update. Otherwise I don't know what to do.

Can't wireless fast charge anymore!?

I just got a Note 20 Ultra and the wireless fast charger I've been using (including on S20+) will not work. I get a notification that says: Fast wireless charging unavailable. This fast wireless charger isn't compatible with your phone, so you're charging at standard speed.
This is just all kinds of annoying because I have lots of third party wireless chargers and it seems like Samsung is pulling an Apple move by making people use their own accessories. Is there some way around this so that I can fast charge with the chargers I have? This is the kind of thing that pushed me away from Apple and Samsung is doing more and more of that same kind of crap. Not sure I want to keep this phone if I have to replace all my chargers too. Especially considering how expensive Samsung chargers are.
Figured I would try, do you have fast wireless turned on?

It's an update Samsung sent out, no more fast charging with 3rd party chargers, only genuine Samsung chargers can fast wireless charge now (So I've read)
Not true. You can still fast charge on third party chargers you just have to find one that works. I had to try different one till i found one that worked. Also look at reviews and see if anyone confirms it working on a note 20 ultra

Samsung may have tighten the protocols because of 3rd party chargers causing undesirable issues rather than malicious exclusion.
If the charger/cable meet the protocols they should work.
With the newer fast charging I just stick to OEM. With the wattage and heat on these phones it is better to mitigate any risk.
fast charging (~10W) is super old now and it's sad Samsung is so behind competition. Anyways, i have collected many Qi chargers in time and I can promise you: Note20 or recent Samsungs will rarely work with 3rd party chargers. No 15W, no 10W, just good ol' 5W (4+ hours). Frequently even 0 watts (including Samsung chargers!). It's like Oneplus charging - least compatible of all, and there's just one 3rd party cable and one usb tester that works. The charging wars continue. Samsung customer is always the loser. Samsung customer has to fight and pay a lot to get laughable "fast" wireless charging like it was 2017. Same with wired charging..
Bringing this thread back from the dead ..... not long got a Note 20 (refurbished) and starting to get annoyed at the way my car charger won't actually charge the phone - just maintain it's charge level. The same charger will charge a Note 9 and an S7 much faster. I've read that Sammie managed to put out an update to stop 3rd party chargers working so well and see pointers to chargers that will work but has anyone managed to figure out a software fix for the issue? As in any devs. managed to figure out how to get around the issue?

If the display is on it will charge slowly or not at all, fast charging will not engage. If too hot charging may slow or disengage.
If too cold fast charging will not engage.
All in order to protect the Li from plating or worse.
