Fast Charge Notification - LG G Flex 2

Does the Flex2 offer a notification when connected to a Qualcomm certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger?
I've seen that Note4 does so I was wondering if Flex2 did as well.
Thanks

No, they will charge like a normal device with 5V/2A charger...this is ridiculous i know, the charger have 5V/9V mode and you never know when they activate the fast charge!
But, they charge quick enough to charge...dont mind about it!

Alright, thanks. I wonder if LG just plain forgot to enable this notification for one of the most touted features of Flex2 or they cut a very, very cheap corner.

Whenever I connect my Flex 2 to my Samsung Quick Charge charger it gives a notification saying "Fast Charging..."

OK, thanks. Mine is the poor man's Flex2, F510L. I hope Fast Charge is available on it.

so today i connected my phone to its stock charger the one that came with the phone and a weird thing happened my phone went into download mode and now i get the feeling that my phone isn't charging quickly as before. its only my feeling don't know if its true.
so my questions are
is the phone supposed to show fast charging notification or something like that when connected to its stock charger.(never payed attention to such details myself). and also is the stock charger even a fast charger. since my phone has always charged quickly i always assumed its a fast charger. it does say 9.0V and 5.0V under the output heading.
second
what do u think might be the reason behind that weird download mode appearance. is it the charger, the cable or the phone itself.
i have connected the charger again and again to see if it happens again but it hasn't happened yet.
i have a rooted flex 2 but i have made no system file changes because i use root for ad blocking app freezing and greenify only. no xposed installed either as i am afraid to install it.

Charging Speeds

Hi,
Wanted your thoughts and opinions on charging speeds. I've never actually timed how long it takes to charge. i leave it overnight and it's ready when i wake up.
When i plug the phone into the charger, it flashes up slow charging for 2 seconds then disappears. which got me wondering how much it's actually using.
i used to use Current Widget app on my Samsung S3 which told me exactly how much current the phone was taking from the charger. typically it was 1A via AC/mains and 499mA from a PC. Plugged in to AC, I could play a power hungry game and it would still charge the phone at a good rate.
The LG kernel doesn't like these apps - the mA value is all over the place but it's typically <500mA displayed.
I could buy a USB ammeter to work out how much the USB charger is supplying but do you have any other methods of finding out? Do you know what your phone uses?
at home, i use a Xtrememac dual USB charger, 2x 2.1A output with a shielded 3M USB cable. for those wondering, it's the same regardless what cable i use. Have also tried with generic usb chargers, iPad chargers and official and OEM cables from LG and various other manufacturers. Have also used a data-shorted USB cable from PC which is the same result.
I haven't tried the LG charger yet (mainly as it's a 2 flat-pin plug and i don't know where i put the box) but i think i recall it being a 1.8A charger.
I use an application called "charger report" which can display current consumption and Xtar "USB detector" device. They both show the same numbers. But Xtar USB detector can detect voltage of a charger. The charging current of LG g pro 2 is 1.4-1.5A when the smartphone is not used and higher when I use it. Using USB detector I found out that this smartphone can charge with maximum current a charger can give only if the charger's voltage is 5.3v. So it chargers at full speed with original charger and two other chargers I have: a charger from my Lenovo s6000 (2A 5.4V) and from my Asus t100 (2A 5.3V).
i tried that app too and got the same results as with Current Widget.
i'll buy a "usb detector". thanks.
I forgot to mention that it take approximately two hours for charging indicator to reach 100% when the smartphone reports that it fully charged. And it's necessary to left it connected to a charger for ten to twenty minutes to be really fully charged. Otherwise charging indicator will soon drop to 90%. One can tell if a smartphone is still charging by touching a charger or by looking at current consumption: a charger would be warm and current would be higher than 200mA.
Is the GP2 Quick Charge (1 or 2) enabled? I can't read anything about it other than it's in Snapdragon chipsets. Not sure if it can be disabled or not.

The Snapdragon 800,801 and 805 is for Quick Charge 2.0
The Snapdragon 600 for 1.0
ok, does anyone use a Quick Charger with their GP2? is it noticeably faster?
not yet available in Austria, I have read it kills the battery life on

Hey ray-lee!
I just bought this phone and as it seems it could get someday similar problems as my former phone the Galaxy Note 2.
That phone has had problems with charger and cable also. I had to buy another set of charger and cable since the original ones gave up a few months after i purchased the phone (it was used). The cable managed only 500mA wich is very slow for a battery that strong. One night was once not enough to charge my phone from 30% to 100%. As it seems it is problematic to manufacture cables, that can hold up and continually grant the 1,8 A that would charge our device in just 2 hours. I read somewhere that the G Pro 2 is one of 5 devices that has blazing fast speeds on charging the battery. If you handle the cables with caution hopefully you will not encounter problems. If so my guess is, that you will have a hard time in finding a cable that can hold up. Sadly the stock cables are always more expensive. I do not get it, why companies dont build travel adapters that only charge ur phones built solid with sturdy cables to ensure the transmission of high currents. That way with charger + usb cable is just stupid, even when tis is an all in one solution.
I like this phone very much and i hope, that the cables will not be that sloppy as the cables that Samsung had/ still has. With Current Widget i get readings around 1500 mA (1,5 A) when connected to the stock charger. And yes the LG Charger is an 1,8 A one. I have also flat pins, but received an adapter to be able to connect it in Hugary.
Just sharing thoughts here, that will maybe helpful to someone...

i "think" as long as device has snapdragon it is Quick Charge enabled
I use the "Charging Report" app on my phone, and it reports proper values.
(Around 1500mAh with the LG charger, and around 1600mAh with the 2.0A Samsung charger.)
If your phone is charging slowly, check the CABLE. Cable can broke too.
(Many people complain about their Samsung charging cables, because they just stop delivering power after a while and just charge the device slowly.)

There aren't many chargers out there. and the ones that are, are usually US 2 pin. I need a UK 3 pin or travel charger (changeable pins) really.

Fast Charging?

I'm not sure if I'm being stupid or not, but when I charge my S6 (using the cable that came with it) and the phone is off, I do not get the fast charging symbol/text. However, as soon as my wife plugged hers in to charge it for the 1st time and it was off, it had the fast charging text. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.
I get the fast charge symbol and it says "fast charging" Not sure what you are doing wrong.

Just to make sure, you said you were using the cable, are you also using the white 110 adapter that you plug the cable into on the wall side? I always get the fast charging message, both using the equipment supplied with the phone, as well as using a "Qualcomm 2.0" fast charge car cigarette lighter style adapter I bought from Amazon.
Good luck
Can we control when it fast charges vs slow charges? What's the difference (besides the obvious)?

Assuming you use the included charger, or another charger with Qualcomm 2.0 Quick Charge capability, it will always take advantage of the technology. None of the wireless charging, as far as I know, is equipped with the fast charge technology, so that will always be at conventional speed.
As an aside, I have plugged my phone into the "quick charger" and then set it on the wireless charging pad, and the pad shows it "charging". I haven't really checked to see if that adds anything to the speed of the charge.

Fast charging stopped working

My S6 is 2 weeks old today and I noticed that fast charging (using adaptive charger I got in the box) has stopped working
Yesterday at work I put my phone on charge and went back to it after 20mins and noticed it had stopped charging.
I thought maybe it the 2pin plug point so I changed plug points and it starts charging.
Come back later and it stopped charging.
Changed plug point again and the same thing happened.
Getting irritated I put it on my wireless charge mat instead.
Today I decided to test the charger and low and behold it's now working but it's charging at the normal rate.
I tested this by using my old S4 charger and I got the same time to full message.
Before when I plugged in my adaptive charger it said fast charging now it just says "Cable charging"
Do you guys think it's my phone or my adaptive charger?
I don't have another adaptive fast charger to test with
EDIT: I was running XtreStoLite ROM, I used ODin and reloaded the latest AOD8 Vodafone SA firmware but still fast charging isn't working.
I'd say it's the charger. There have been instances of them shorting. The last Note 4 I had did the same thing.
Perhaps a silly question, but am I right in thinking that the fast charging only works when the battery is below 20% or so? I tried plugging mine in yesterday when at 40% charge and it just said 'cable charging' (using the out-the-box charger and cable)

Geez boet, how much does an S6 go for in SA?
I am having the same problem with my S6.
The fast charge doesn't work afree a week.
Last night I plugged in @ midnight with the original charger and cable at 5% and all apps shut down
It said "charging" and not "fast charging".
530am....only 97%.
This is pretty frustrating. It seems to have stopped in the last couple days.
Thoughts?
If you connect the USB cable to your PC and it detects your phone, it's proof that it's the adaptive charger. It happened to me on my Note 4, and I had it replaced with the warranty. Problem solved. Try it and you won't have any more problems. Garanteed!

Thanks - have now realised that I had to push the USB cable extra hard into the charger - that switched it from showing 'charging' to 'fast charging'

But the computer never detects it.
Update
@Biggenz the S6 32gig is around the R9000 mark
@BoondckSaint try another Adaptive Fast Charger, apparently even the Qualcomm ones work too. If it still doesn't fast charge take it into SCC.
@alanjrobertson my problem started out like that, I'd have to unplug and re-plug the cable in then it would work. Now more often than not it just doesn't Fast Charge
So, I took my phone in to Samsung Customer Care and after trying numerous chargers my S6 would just say "Cable Charging" and never show "Fast Charger Connected" in the notification bar.
They tested my charger on another S6 and S6 Edge and they both worked fine and Fast charge was working. Had the correct "Fast Charger Connected" in the notification bar too.
I had to leave my S6 there and they will repair it. The technician said it's either the USB connector is faulty or the mainboard needs replacing.
I'm abit disappointed now as my s6 is only 2 weeks old and it's already had to be booked in for repairs.
Hopefully no such issues for me - it seemed to be very much linked to the USB plug at the charger end not being the whole way in but will be keeping a close eye on it!

Have you tried depleting battery all the way down until S6 goes off by it self? Then charge it while is off all the way to 100% or leave it all night. Then see difference. Also one hint which is not quite related to your problem, but just for people to know. Fast Charging is NOT working from 50% and up to 100%. This is normal. So Fast Charge works from 0%-50%,NOT ABOVE!

The Samsung Care Center replaced the USB port on my phone and its fast charging again perfectly. Wasn't anything to do with the battery thankfully.
Before replacing the USB port the phone always showed "Cable charging" whenever it was plugged into the fast charger.
Now it shows Fast Charging in the notification area.
I am also having the same problem with mine it can be seen in odin but no mtp no matter which computer i use ... I took mine in and they fixed it. This was at the Samsung centre in my city. Took them a week because they didnt have any USB ports at their branch and had to wait for it to be couriered from Johannesburg
I'm having the exact same issue with my S6. Only a couple of months old and only showing Cable charging and intermitantly stops charging. I'd say definitely charging port. I've tried the samsung fast charger, the sony z4 tablet fast charger, my aukey quick charge 2.0 car charger and my aukey portable quick charge 2.0 portable battery. Bit annoyed
Same issue here. comp does detect it then it drops over and over. same with whatever charger im using or cord. 2 months old 920W8.

Fast Charging not working?

What's the deal? I'm using the stock charger and it doesn't say fast charging. In addition, no way to enable it under battery settings.
Did sprint disable it temporarily by default? Read there were some heat issues causing fast charging and s6 Edge issues. Maybe they disabled it until new firmware? I got one of the newer inventory models that is the platinum gold-colored 32gb that was not available until 4/27. I'm on build OCF, says it's fully updated. Perplexed because I've read the battery options shows a toggle for fast charge (which mine doesn't).
Someone educate me!
Update:
Very odd. Once I used an older USB cable from my s4 with the new fast charge AC adapter, fast charging worked! However with the USB cord that came with the S6 Edge it would only do a regular charge. No idea why, but if they have cable issues with what was shipped out, it's going to cause a lot of headaches for tech support and warranty claims etc.
I see others having tho issue also.

They'll pay for it in tech support calls and replacements, etc. You can bet some entire phones get replaced because some idiots didnt check the cord itself.

Fast charging while in car and Waze is running

Hi all,
I'm new to Samsung, with S8+ EMEA version (non-Qualcomm CPU) for ~3 months now.
This is after ~10 year with HTC while the last unit (up until 3 months ago) was the M9.
Using the same good quick car charger (compatible QC2.0) and different (original) cable I gets much slower charging with the S8+ vs. the HTC.
The scenario is the same in terms of applications and usage and both units confirm this is a "Quick charge" but the S8+ is raising in ~1% per 10 minutes while HTC did ~1% per 2 minutes.
Both were in the same light conditions, same battery temperature and such so I really wonder what the source is.
The S8+ will be fast charging indeed if stays unused in the same charger...
Thanks,
Oren
Just a guess, I believe it's heat management. Quick Change will slow down if the phone/battery is getting too hot to protect the battery. Mine behaves the same, it does not charge quick at all when I have Waze running.

I'm also with Aukey quick charge 2 and the original Samsung USB cable but.
The fact is that it does indicate it's fast charging on the notifications bar.
Also, if it's closed, it does charge fast so cable and charger are fine.
The problem is somehow with the charging control while it's being used with Waze, for example, then the HTC was progressing in the charge while Samsung doesn't much proceed...

I done this yesterday . I bought also the bk disabler package for 1.99£ from app store and I can ensure you that the charging is so fast now
I am not make advertising or sell something I just wanted to help you. Yesterday got 6.30 hours screen on time and the charging time decreased
https://youtu.be/Y9GX88jFIE0
My conclusion is that probably the large screen with the high brightness in daylight is the reason for the slow charge.
Usually, during night time, the same charger, cable and applications will result in much better charging progress.
Again, temperature is not a factor as I do cool it if needed and check the battery temporary to assure it is cool.

So I try sorted this about 4 months.
Original cable and adapter and another 2 non original and all time same results. Nowhere it's say nothing about charging. Samsung block proper charging when is display on. I was ask them in chat they told me advice " turn off display when is charging" that is great advice when you need Nav and charging phone.
So I went to Samsung repair centre and they check phone and say all is fine so I told them my problem and they say unofficialy Samsung got some security advise when is charging and display isn't off that charging didn't work not like fast either slow charging is just keep alive.
Google new pixel have temperature block and LG have same thing like Samsung.
I know fast charging will problem with that big display and when will on. Ok but why didn't charge like slow charging. I not need phone charge in 1.5 hours but when I charging 5 hours and got +20% that is Bull****. Then come message " charging was stop then will cool down."
That is full of the Internet now. Many people has same problem.
I'm just interest if another companys Nokia one+ or HTC huawei xiaomi etc has same problem

I still believe it's related to the Note 7 issues, they are more aggressive about keeping the phone battery cool when charging. Just speculation on my part but it kinda makes sense.
As I mentioned before, with htc m9 charging was faster, it is also QC2 qualified phone.
And again, my battery temperature is low, it's against the air conditioning specifically for that purpose.
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
I think that what you will find is that the phone doesn't go above about 1.5A when the screen is on to keep the phone cool and protect against note 7 issues. I find my phone charges fast enough on Waze with a qc2.0 charger
Is there any solution for this issue? Can root app do something about it?
