Same. The image above is the pixel 7 pro and the image below is the S22U at the same place at the same time

I've found that my S22Ultra sux arse radio wise.

I disagree- what phone have you gotten more than 1.3 GBS with rock solid signal strength?

Supposedly, the pixel 7 pro has a better radio. I just ran this test on my pixel 6 pro, and got these results. Hopefully my p7p is better. But my radio in p6p is decent. I can't complain anyway.

Wowza!

So far I haven't had any complaints about the radio other than before I installed the first OTA and it was dropping every so many minutes.

Yeah I must have been directly under the T-Mobile tower

I got this yesterday. Just switched to Mint Mobile (T-Mobile) with this phone. Previously on the Pixel 6 Pro with Tracfone (Verizon network) getting a little over 100 Mbps was a good day.
Reception on this phone with Mint Mobile (T-Mobile) has been much better than my Pixel 6 Pro with Tracfone (Verizon). Unfortunately, since I switched to Mint Mobile right when I got this phone, I can't make a valid comparison to my Pixel 6 Pro.

I seem to have the opposite experience. I came from a galaxy s21 ultra and had 5g coverage on multiple different bands and wavelengths in my area. Routinely can get 200 to 400 megabits per second. Now I'm down to 70 to 80 everywhere, my phone is constantly switching from LTE to 5G, and I'm having a lot of signal dropping where i never did before

And you took the day one OTA? Mine was being weird until I did that.

Well that's unfortunate. Hopefully they release some modem fixes in November.

Nice. I changed to Fi from StraightTalk (which doesn't work on my 7P) and get 20 down and 1 up at work and 11 down and 2 up at work. I'm in the middle of Verizon territory in ND. Good thing I have wifi calling at both places.

I currently have the 6P and have bad reception. I would like to ditch this device and go to the 7P, but I am conflicted. I see several post about not so great reception and others have no issue at all. I get dropped calls and the (!) in the signal bar. Notifications come several minutes or longer to receive. I wonder if this is based on location. I am in an area where LTE and 5G are decent on any other device but the one I have. I would hate to make the move to the 7P and have the same problems.

My results are a mixed bag. On one hand, the reception on my P7P is better b/c I'm in fewer situations where I see (!) in my signal bar compared to my P6P. On the other hand, I'm consistently only getting LTE connection (I'm on Verizon) where I would get 5G speeds with my iPhone 13 Pro. That being said, when I'm on LTE, it seems to be fast enough but I don't know if this is good enough for me to keep this device.

Do as I am doing, get the phone. You have 15 days to send it back. Pretty sure mine is going back. It is better, but it is not acceptable.

If it's not acceptable, then I'm not going to bother. I love the pixel experience, but not the poor connection quality. I may just scoop up a Motorola for the time being

Not trying to be negative, but those of us with the same issues on the 6 Pro said that when it came out. We are still waiting.
Think about it, be careful and keep an eye on your return window. I wish I had with my 6 Pro.

It's a different modem this time around, the 5300g. So far I've had zero issues with it after I took the first OTA. Also, no chance I'll return it because there's no acceptable alternative for me.

Mate 9 LTE network speed and quality - T-Mobile / MHA - L29

I just received the Mate 9 (MHA - L29) from Amazon and I am impressed. Coming from a LG V20 I have to say I love everything about this phone. But I have one concern. Running less than conclusive tests, it SEEMS that the Mate 9 has slower LTE performance on T-Mobile even though they are supposed to have very similar speeds. I have never seen faster speeds, often slower, often similar. In my home, depending on the time of day I can get anywhere from 8 Mbps to 40 Mbps. Here at home I am seeing on the lower end while on the LG V20 it is on the higher end. Today I took the phone to a nearby area where I consistently get 50 - 70 Mbps and I got 60 on my LG V20. Took the SIM card, put it in the Mate 9 and I got 40 Mbps. On a second run I got 50 - 52.
So my question? What speeds are you seeing and how is the quality of the connection? Please post your speeds.

Honestly I've been concerned also. I've had several Sony's, and now the mate. My speeds have been a bit lower than my Sony phones, however I noticed that a glass back case that I was using was definitely hindering my speeds, wireless reception, and call quality.
I was just starting to believe that as Tmo moved into 3rd largest carrier perhaps I was experiencing a little bit of congestion! Not sure but using the Huawei case that shipped with the phone showed great improvement for me!
I never got more than 20 mbps in my home area and that is on no peak hours (between 9 pm and 7am) most of the time I got 5-8 mbps everywhere.
dont think the phone case is the issue in my case since I have a plastic one but will test without it.

Let me start by saying that I REALLY like my V20. With that said, why am I looking at the Mate 9? I am very concerned that the direction that phone designs are taking involve curved screens and 18:9 form factors, which I hate. The V20 is fast enough but I am concerned that we are arriving at the end of the wider screens that the V20 and now the Mate 9 offer. So I have been looking at the next phone with the idea that I might end up staying with that device for a while.
So, what do I like about the Mate 9? The screen is slightly bigger yet (minor but noticeable in side to side, the OnePlus 5 was slightly smaller and didn't care for that), faster CPU, a much brighter screen, nicer OS implementation and what I am really hoping for but haven't fully verified is much longer battery life ( my battery does not last long and I have tried every trick). If I can get that then, especially at the price, it will be a keeper. But not if I lose network performance. Hope that helps. I will miss the replaceable battery but the extra capacity may be worth the trade. If it doesn't have longer battery life then I stick with the V20.
Opposite for me as far as signal goes. This phone gave me the best signal from T-Mobile in and outdoors. As far as if it's worth it. The answers a billion time yes. No phone out there gives you the build, battery size and life's screen size, display proportion, non intrusive stock OS, and camera all for $600 at release date and now currently $500 brand new. This phone is the reason I'll never go back to Samsung as they keep raising their price ridiculously for a damn phone. The most underrated phone of the year
Haven't used my mate 9 other than my home network here but compared to the other phones that I've run speed test on..
I'm achieving good speeds using lte, stupid thing with our provider is Volte is only supported on iPhones/ select Samsung and Sony phones but that's off the point.
Have a look at those speed test that I've ran a while back.

Cellular strength and throughput

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the Google Pixel 2 XL's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
Once device starts shipping and users can test, I'm curious to know if the cellular connectivity issue experienced on pixel xl has been solved on pixel 2 xl or not.
Plus one to this. My only real gripe with the current pixel XL. Hopefully the modem or antenna is stronger in the 2.
Any updates from people that have their device? Specifically looking to see if there is a signal strength improvement from the original xl?
After using this for a day I have some areas that I go through that were very weak with signal and I have Verizon. I just came from my LG G5 that would barely hold up going through these weak areas the pixel XL 2 is much better at holding a signal. I've noticed that where I have one bar with my LG G5 I have two bars with the pixel 2 XL. And in areas where I was losing signal and dropping my call with my G5 it holds onto my call and does not drop my call at all through these weak areas.

Sounds promising. Hoping the Pixel 2 improves the Google Fi experience.
Looks to be about the same as my 6P and LG G6, getting around 35 down and 10 up at my office. Hardly a scientific answer but it's what I got

Compared to my Nexus 6 which had pretty good RF performance my Pixel 2 XL is ~2-3 dBm lower on LTE, ~6 dBm lower on wifi.
Not bad
Typical for me in downtown Chicago
I'd say cell throughput on lte is pretty good!
Cell speed and Los Angeles is very good, using T-Mobile, but sometimes it will waste time on B12, which you can disable with a non-SE kernel. That will free up B12 off your 3x CA limit.
Averaging about 80-120Mbps around my neighborhood.
Edit: Tested over 140 yesterday.
Not good
This is my second one the Google tec talked me into it got it in the mail today. I gotta say the second one was worse Tha the first I'm in a poor signal area and I got limited text and phone but next to no internet. My Moto phones knock the socks off of it. Even my old Nexus 6. I'm on Verizon.

160mbps! T mo.
Getting 60mbps on my 6p was alot.... Then.
How is it at getting a good cellular signal? My OG Pixel is the worst and I don't want to be fooled again.
I received my Pixel 2 XL in the UK earlier this week and I am finding it is quite often losing it's HSDPA connection and falling back to Edge in areas where my trusty Nexus 5 was happily maintaining connection. They are both using the same SIM card on Virgin 3G (although I am waiting for them to switch me other to 4G in a couple of days) which runs off EE.
Anyone else experienced similar or know how to resolve.
Cheers
Baz
I get horrible signal -111 right under a Verizon tower.....yes I have Verizon lol
When you say right under do you mean right under or close, cause you can be to close.

Cellular strength and throughput

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the OnePlus 8T's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
I am interested in buying the T-Mobile version of this phone, but the only thing holding me back are multiple reviews of poor cellular signal strength. First reported on Android Police, but also lots of 1 star reviews on the T-Mobile site for the OnePlus 8 5G, which I understand has similar design and antenna hardware. Can anyone comment on cell strength, especially when compared to prior phones? I would be coming from the Pixel 3xl

The 8T has a vastly different design and way better reception. Check notebookcheck review.
Woah so I have the Oneplus 8T 5G TMO and so far I am indeed experiencing issues with 5G.
No calls can be made in a seemingly normal 5G connection at certain times.
dropping to 4gLTE manually may solve the issue however, this isn't always done automatically.
5G is buggy in my area with this phone currently.
I am having some wired network issue with OnePlus 8T. Here are my observations,
1. The issue is happening with my Jio 4G (Indian mobile service operator network)
2. This problem mainly happens with VoWiFi is active. Outgoing calls are fine, connects without any issue and no call quality issue either. However, 9/10 times when phone (Jio 4G SIM) is on a WiFi network & VoWiFi is active, any incoming call fails to come, caller gets to hear out of network message.
I have a second SIM Card, AirTel (India) and it too supports VoWiFi. It works absolutely fine, no issue.
3. Call Forwarding / Call Waiting service details fails with network error with Jio SIM, but working fine with AirTel.
On the surface, it seems like issue is with Jio SIM card / network but surprisingly it works fine when I insert the same SIM on another device.
I have logged a complain with Jio (service provider) regarding this. I am bit confused as is it the device or the SIM Card (network) to blame as same SIM card works fine in other device and other network (My Airtel) sim card is working fine on this device
Thanks.
The 5G connection has been cleaned up for me latest updates feel smooth and am excited to still unlock the bootloader and break free from T-Mobile's rendition of the rom.
Network performance under 4G is good, out of the box 8T supports fastest 4G standard & carrier aggregation. Internet speeds are excellent if or when network is upto the mark to offer it.

Lossing signal at random times without any visible explanation.
happens at least ten times a day.
OnePlus support was no help on the case
would strongly advise you not to buy this model.
hopefully will be fixed on newer models.

I know the question has nothing to do with this topic, however, I think this does not interfere in this topic.
Question: why would anyone want to voluntarily buy a T-Mobile version of a OnePlus device? Are there any positive aspects to this?
In my opinion, only disadvantages?
Is it cheaper?
T-Mobile have the OnePlus 8T+ for the same price, it is dust and water resistant. Being the only phone advantage. Also you can finance your phone, and trade in deals specific to T-Mobile. Also, out of warranty insurance coverage is you are up for that.
Been using this for a few days now and this is my favorite ROM out of the lot I've tried. Great battery, performance, and the customizations are fantastic. Appreciate it!
Tell The Bell
I get no cellular signal on my new 8T. Has anyone else had this problem? I am on Puretalk network and calls and messages work fine.

Unlocked or Carrier Specific. What is the difference

Seems right.. With the US models being bootloader locked, which prevents you from customizing your phone.. What is the advantage now of buying a complete unlocked phone over a carrier specific one? I mean if you buy a carrier one upfront no monthly payments, you could have them unlock the phones. I'm considering on purchasing a new phone next month. But not sure which to buy yet.. So I do not want to spent say $200 more for a unlocked device if there is not going to any real advantage over a carrier specific device.
Most phones cost the same unlocked or locked..but being unlocked you can go to any carrier you want with no contract or them keeping your phone hostage.
I have a AT&T Note 10+ and recently bought the unlocked version.
I thought there be a big difference. Not so at least with Samsung. Less the AT&T software my package disabler list was near identical for both.
Net difference just about zero.
The unlock version functions the same on the AT&T network. Simply slammed in the sim card and it was good to go. However I don't use wifi or video calling so no idea if that's the same.
If you go with a AT&T phone plan to buy once you reach the 1 or 2 years mark you could pay it off and save a couple hundred dollars which is what I did. Do whatever works best for you.
If you like the Notes a used N10+ is another option. They are still available new too. I'm not impressed with the Samsung flagships that followed the N10+ as they are inferior in a number of ways. Because of this I bought a new N10+ running on Android 10 and avoided being forced to use 11 or 12 which suck pretty bad, especially 12. So I have twins now.

That is why I'm considering just buying a phone locked phone. I do see sellers selling the unlocked version for far more than the carrier specific ones. Since I'm buying in cash I can have it unlocked right from the start.... I'm with t-mobile currently and have the A52 5G. This is the only phone in yrs I have financed... At the end of April, I'm paying it off, but still not sure which phone to purchase.. I have had various makers, but usually like the Samsung... Been looking at the Note 10+ and the S21 Ultra.. Not going to buy the newest unless it had a great deal.. But either way my phone and the wife's Iphone 13 pro max she wants, will be paid in full at the time of purchase...

My 4G unlimited data plan with AT&T is grandfathered and cheap. I would lose it going to 5G along with battery life for questionable speed gains.
My oldest N10+ is 2.5 yo and the only repair is a replacement battery, no big deal. It looks and runs like new in spite of very heavy usage. The display is still perfect, no dead pixels or degradation. It supports a V30 SD card up to 1tb which I'm upgrading to from a 512gb one. The beast is a work horse that gets 8-10 hours SOT once optimized*. It's display while 60hz has a better color rendering index than probably even the newest variable refresh rate displays and definitely better than the N20U. Great for pics and vids. A near perfect white point and gamma profile. Excellent color management that the variable refresh rate displays lack as they are extremely hard to calibrate.
It's form factor is better than all the newer Samsung flagships. Only 7mm thick and the camera assembly sits almost flush to the rear cover.
The cam and vid capabilities are very good, while laser AF be nice it's AF works well. The spen sits where it should if you're right handed, on the right not the left side. One downside is the longer latency of the N10+ spen then the newer models, but it has all the spen tricks including the bt remote shutter release. As far as processor and ram speed it's snappy and with 12gb of ram it doesn't run out of ram. Bonus if you get one running on Android 9 or 10, no cpu cycling sucking scoped storage to slow it down or get in your hair. The current OS load on this one will be 2 yo in June, still fast, stable with minimal maintenance. Part of my decision was the no learning curve and easy set up for a second one.
&
It's just fun to use.
*my N10+'s are heavily optimized both with settings as well as with Package Disabler. A good case is mandatory, I'm using the Zizo Bolt. A great case that easy to hold, doesn't attract dirt and has sucked up close to a dozen 2-4 foot drops onto concrete with zero phone damage.
Stock N10+ customized using free Samsung icon packs, the Goodlock family of apps and free 3rd party apps like Digi Clock and Double Tap.

Question S22U images look like oil paint.

I have been using the S22U for 2 months but I'm not quite satisfied with the camera as Samsung marketed with camera feature the most.
My S21U does a better job than S22U. Most of the time, the images look like oil paint for some reason. And sometimes it does a great job.
I'm attaching 3 photos. All these are shot using the same phone. You can see the difference. The first two photos are on same day, 3rd one is on another day.
I was even thinking that my phone might be a factory defect one. I bought the same model (N908N) for my brother. That one is also the same. Then I used one my colleagues' S22Ultra for a few hours. That one is also the same. So, I dropped the thought of a factory defect device.
Is anyone facing the same?

My S21U does a better job than S22U. Most of the time, the images look like oil paint for some reason. And sometimes it does a great job.
I'm attaching 3 photos. All these are shot using the same phone. You can see the difference. The first two photos are on same day, 3rd one is on another day.
I was even thinking that my phone might be a factory defect one. I bought the same model (N908N) for my brother. That one is also the same. Then I used one my colleagues' S22Ultra for a few hours. That one is also the same. So, I dropped the thought of a factory defect device.
Is anyone facing the same?

I have been experiencing this as well(Snapdragon unit) from the very beginning at 30x sometimes and 100x mostly like the one attached below. Did not experience this with S21 Ultra.

Sadly I'm experiencing this at 1x. This is why it bothers me a lot. I'm also using a Snapdragon unit (908N KT version)

Newer update might fix it for you when it arrives.

i just had an update
I do not have this issue on my S22U SD device (at least that I have seen yet). I have the SM-S908U model.
My Photos look fine on U.S. Unlocked using Samsung's Stock Camera Software.
Overly aggressive NR in post. Can't get past immutable laws of physics, computational photography be damned! ;-)
If you stay within the limits of the optics with adequate lighting (ISO 800 max) the pics look reasonable even when viewed on a graphics workstation. They will ALWAYS look better at 1:1 on the phone!
The 100X is pretty much a joke until you need to read a sign at the end of a street or see an equipment ID number at the top of a power pole, for example!

Using Samsung for the past 12 years, every single note model. And spent 1500USD for S22U. Don't you think I have the right to get offended by the quality of the camera?
I have mentioned that those photos were taken at 1x not 100x.
Also, the photos look the same on the mobile phone too.
Something is wrong. Mine don't look anywhere near that bad.
My main issue with Samsung is excessive over sharpening everywhere.
EXCEPT the Z Fold 3. Funny too, everyone says how bad its camera is but the SOFTWARE its using actually makes better pics when within the limits of the hardware.

There might be a problem with Korean Model. I have flashed 3 different Korean ROM (couldn't flash US ROM) with Odin. All the ROMs have the same problem. My brother's device also has the same problem. I hope they will fix it with a software update.
