Mi Mix 3 Modding

I am waiting for my Mi Mix 3 to arrive.
As you know the phone does not natively support EIS with 4K which is a shame really.
So I am tempted to root the device in order to install the 4K EIS mod.
It's been 6 years at least since I have rooted a smartphone. I understand that together with an unlocked bootloader, some security features such as mobile banking will be lost.
Can I root the device, install the mod, and then unroot? Can an unlocked bootloader be locked again?
If so, will I be losing anything after reverting?
Thanks.
I have a problem.
(Mi mix 3)
When i installed the ArrowOs from twrp and make a safe wipe the ArrowOs doesnt boot. Just stuck on MIX blinking.

Question Restore stock fw + widevine

Hi guys
I just bought my P11 pro from AliExpress with the not so good global ROM and unlocked bootloader. Also, L3 widevine.
Is there a way to put the stock fw back and restore the widevine L1?
Is the stock fw better than the global fw?
Thanks in advance
Install Stock ROM - Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 [TB-J716F]
How to install Stock ROM - Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 [TB-J716F] I tried installing a GSI-ROM on this tablet, which basically worked except for three/four bugs I coulnd't solve. So I tried to restore the Stock ROM in the meantime and will share my...

Thanks! I read it but still got questions.
Is the stock fw fully translated to English?
Re-installing the stock fw will allow for OTA updates?
Is there a downside to the stock fw?
Also, as I can understand, there is no way to restore widevine L1 once the bootloader has been unlocked. Does anyone know anything about that?

English is my native language and the Chinese ROM on this 2021 Pad Pro 11" is actually pretty decent. I have no translation issues. There are a few apps you will want to disable and you will have to manually install the play store but once you’ve done that it works fine. Its fully google certified and Netflix etc shows up in a search. I use Nova Launcher rather than the Lenovo launcher which I would also recommend.
Mine came with the Chinese firmware so I didn’t have to do any messing about and my widevine L1 is intact, I have received x2 OTA’s an I manually flashed to update to ZUI13. I believe other people eventually received those updates via OTA as well.
I’m sure I’ve seen people on the thread who have successfully flashed back to the Chinese ROM, locked bootloader and regained Widevine L1.
I can confirm this.
I recently ordered the P11 Pro from bangood.
This also came with a outdated global ROM and Widevine L3.
After Installing the Chinese ROM with above guide and locking the bootloader I got Widevine L1.
I hope this helps.

That's great! How did you relock the bootloader?
I was able to reinstall the stock fw witch already received OTA update to ZUI 13 (yay!)

I used the script shared by Tropaion in his post on how to unlock/lock the boot loader:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lock-unlock-bootloader-xiaoxin-pad-pro-2021-tb-j716f.4347321/
What is important is that you have to install ADB fast boot and for me I also had to install the lenovo driver shared by zeroflame15 in his reply to the post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...n-pad-pro-2021-tb-j716f.4347321/post-85850437
When you have all drivers installed all you have to do is run the script and follow the steps.
I hope this helps!
Thank you guys!
I was able to re-lock the bootloader and restore widevine L1
Turns out that even though I have the L1 certification, Netflix , Amazon and Disney will limit the quality of the streaming because it is a portable device. No HDR on Netflix too... Bummer. Still, I managed to install stremio and get the quality I pay for.

That's odd. As you can see in the screenshot attached I do have the option to stream in full HD via Netflix now. You might want to try reinstalling Netflix via the Google play store as this should now also be certified. (At least it is for me) HDR capabilities I am still missing however.

You can get Dolby Vision on the P12 but as you say HD only. Stremio is the way forward. I have kept my subs live for use on the TV but at least we can watch in full quality in bed.

Question Using wrong boot .image?

Booted up a oneplus 9 pro boot image, it fixed my phone being stuck in fastboot because I didn't have stock image.
Now updates don't work.
Oneplus 9 T-Mobile, stock rom, pro boot image, unlocked bootloader, unlocked sim - Any help would be appreciated.
Was thinking MSM tool but unsure what one to use.
I'm in a similar situation but I can't get out of fastboot. What OnePlus Pro boot image did you flash to your phone and what firmware are you on?
I gave the pro boot.img a try and it worked!
I grabbed it from this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...t-keep-root-oos-12-c-48.4252373/post-87096189
I want to back a few things up before tinkering anymore but will report back on how I try to fix it.
Thinking ahead, did Oxygen Updater not allow you to change your device back to a OnePlus 9, download the software update, flash and revert back?
Glad you could get your phone fixed...
I wish my system updates worked though lol ugh

Are you using Oxygen Updater or the native update tool?
If the latter I would try the former.

No I'm on a t-mobile oneplus 9 with android 12.
Soooo have you tried Oxygen Updater?
No it doesn't work for my version of this phone.
Thanks though
I wish I had a copy of the original boot image of my phone, T-Mobile variant boot.imge I'm guessing and for the non-pro version. I'm assuming that may fix my issue with the T-Mobile system updates and my incompatibility app issues with Google Play...

If your bootloader is unlocked and Google Play is telling you that your device is not supported, it's because of the unlocked bootloader most likely. Are you successfully passing both basic and CTS safetynet profiles?
Not sure sry... Only few apps are incompatible.
This is what the OnePlus updater shows.

I think your problem is that your bootloader is unlocked and it needs to be locked in order to pass safeynet. More and more apps are not allowing for detected unlocked bootloaders in which makes safetynet fail.
Wish I knew how to relock it... Little reluctant to use a random site's information... Xda probably has information on relocking it, wish I had a link to a good post.
Could it possibly brick my phone if I'm using a pro boot image an try to lock bootloader?
Any advice or help would be much appreciated thanks for your time.
I will follow-up more later as I'm walking out the door. I'm not convinced that we are on a different or should I say, incompatible boot.img. When I get home I need to do some research to see what is actually different in the boot.img when being compared each other (C.61 boot.img on OP9 and OP9 Pro).
Back history for anyone following along... I was unlocked, rooted, Google Play certified and on C.48. I upgraded via OTA, no reboot and chose an inactive slot. It did not work and soft bricked slot a. I lost root, was on C.48 still but on slot B. I successfully upgraded to C.61 but didn't have root. I could not find a good boot.img or patched_boot.img. I tried a stock OP9 Pro image and that got me working. That same user provided a patch img too so I tried that and obtained root as well.
Soooo what is the difference between the boot images on C.61 pro and non-pro OP9 models?
Stay tuned....!
Thanks I'll keep checking back on this
Unfortunately the difference is that the pro version is available to tinker with and the non pro version isn't. Sorry to state the obvious.
My phone so far is working fine on the OP9 Pro kernel. C.61 is rooted and Google Play is certified. All my previous Magisk config is there as well and modules. I'm not sure what the difference between the kernels are at this point but also not a kernel expert either.
Once the next full release comes out for OP9, I will swap it out.
@Harley1979 I got your PM and will follow-up with you there.

Question Questions about the lenovo P11 non pro (TB-J606F)

I`ve seen the discussion about ZUI on the chinese models (I bought my unit in Switzerland) and about the chinese version, can one download and flash the global version with ZUI to get some more features back?
And about flashing I only saw a way to unlock the bootloader even with the global version by going to zui website and getting that .img and flash it, but lose the warranty ( ignoring the fact that it's not legal to do so in europe).
The open source package that lenovo has on their website is that a part of it or did they not release updated sources for a11?
Does DSU work with GSI's?
Thank you for reading this and sorry to bother you.
Just an update but a12.1 GSI and a13 GSI both boot on dsu mode going to try and flash them
You have to bootloader unlock, for DSU to boot....12,1 and 13 work fine
Do you have any pen connection support? the power button works?

Question Need a little help with updating from Android 11 custom ROM

First, I apologize if these answers are already posted elsewhere, in which case please point me in the right direction.
So I use to be able to root my phones with my eyes closed (back when HSPA was the fastest and I needed to overclock my single core processor to 1.2GHz because my phone didn't have 8 cores), but its been 2 years since I've rooted my one plus 9 and I was pretty rusty then so I'm pretty much lost now. I know that over the years there's been changes to the way things must be done depending on the phone, version, etc. I'm trying to update my phone to either android 12 or 13, and unless I'm mistaken, I can't just flash an android 13 custom rom over the rooted OOS rom that is stock with the exception of having Magisk of course. If that's incorrect, that would be very convenient. But if I am, what steps do I need to do to get this done? I have SDK platform-tools ready, but I no longer have backups of the stock boot.img, or anything for that matter. My mother is a hypochondriac of sorts, so I can't have my phone not work for more than a day, or I'll have the police at my door doing a wellness check. Thanks in advance for any help!

Use MSM Tool to reset your phone to initial factory firmware, which is OOS11. You can then update through OTA all the way to the latest.
And next time you root your phone, DON'T flash the patched boot.img. Instead, temporarily boot by the command fastboot boot <your_patched_boot.img> and then from Magisk app, use Direct Install. That way, Magisk will backup your original boot.img which you can restore later if there is a new OTA.
Do you have a token? Get one if you dont.
unlock token - OnePlus (United States)
www.oneplus.com
Takes a couple days to a month to get it. Check back at that page, they will not notify you when its ready.
Once you get it, MSM to global base A11\OOS11 to debrand, and also allow for easier updates since Tmobile is stingy about pushing out A13 recently.
Get to latest OTA update, fastboot flash cust-unlock <unlock_token.bin> to unlock BL, install Magisk anyway you want.
