Question Questions about the lenovo P11 non pro (TB-J606F) - Lenovo P11

I`ve seen the discussion about ZUI on the chinese models (I bought my unit in Switzerland) and about the chinese version, can one download and flash the global version with ZUI to get some more features back?
And about flashing I only saw a way to unlock the bootloader even with the global version by going to zui website and getting that .img and flash it, but lose the warranty ( ignoring the fact that it's not legal to do so in europe).
The open source package that lenovo has on their website is that a part of it or did they not release updated sources for a11?
Does DSU work with GSI's?
Thank you for reading this and sorry to bother you.

Just an update but a12.1 GSI and a13 GSI both boot on dsu mode going to try and flash them

You have to bootloader unlock, for DSU to boot....12,1 and 13 work fine

Do you have any pen connection support? the power button works?

About Nokia 7+ Firmware

Well, I got a Nokia 7 Plus prototype (TA-1062), and I'm able to dump emmc from it.
Now I'm working on homebrew firmware - not sure if it can be flashed into retail unit.
I hope @blackpanther0582 could release Retail Android One firmware - even flashing it requires service point authentication.
BTW, I rooted the Nokia 7 Plus prototype easily.

I was thinking of buying N7P instead of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5,but I read that Nokia doesn't allow users to unlock the bootloader, so no custom ROMs, no TWRP and no root. That is a big no for me personally.
How did you root your phone? Care to share some info?

Prototype phones already have bootloader unlocked...
What I did are:
1. Enter Qualcomm EDL Mode with an EDL cable, then use QFIL to dump the whole emmc to get image.
2. Dump boot partition.
3. Use Magisk Manager to patch boot.img separately.
4. Flash this boot.img on either fastboot mode or EDL cable.
That's it.
I wonder if a retail phone can achieve these.
NOTE: Nokia 6 TA-1000 with locked bootloader requires an extra procedure to process boot.img in order to root the phone.

I didn't know that prototypes have their bootloader unlocked!
Hopefully, by the time it hits European stores, the Chinese who got it first might have figured something out. Or maybe, as it's part of Android One, it will be obligatory to allow users to unlock the bootloader.

Thank you, if root will be avaible I'll definitely consider buying the phone.
What do you think of the phone? Quality of screen, performance, battery...
How were you about to get a prototype device? What about the retail chinese phones? I was thinking about importing them from ebay/aliexpress but im not sure if they'll be able to have their bootloader unlocked, no one has tried so far to my knowledge.

I still have no idea of if the bootloader on China Variant is unlockable.
But, if you're going to buy Nokia 7+ from China, here's some warning:
1. Only Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional) and English is available on the phone.
2. You can install Play Store manually, but you must told the seller that preserves everything on stock to prevent from tampered system.
3. If the system got damaged, you have to find someone who can provide service support to flash your phone. I don't know if you can flash Android One firmware for global release since I don't have one.

Thanks for that info, on point 2 regarding play store does that extend to Google services also? Wifey is holidaying in China and just bought one and thought to buy another for me but I'm holding her off until I can be sure as I rely on Google services a great deal. Also why must the seller be informed, is that a warranty issue or software update issue?
And on point 3, presuming she brings the phone back to New Zealand is there a way I can help the community to explore flashing Android One global release firmware?

If you can buy it from China directly, informing seller is not necessary. For example, if you can buy it from Jing Dong or Suning, you needn't to worry about tampered OS, and that means you can receive further updates.
If you buy it from eBay or AliExpress, the system is probably tampered by seller which you can't get further updates.
As for install Play Store, it's really easy - just find Play Store APK from APKPure, APKMirror whatever and install it on the phone, this will allow you to get access to Play Store. Then you can install any other Google Apps on Play Store manually. You needn't to root your phone and install opengapps.
Since Android One firmware hasn't released yet and the bootloader isn't unlockable, you can't flash it right now.
Nokia 7 plus is available on Amazon europe sites like Germany and Italy and others and also ships worldwide and release date showing 12 to 14 or 15 april

Big question here! I am going to europe and want to buy this phone there, the problem is that the model they are selling don't have band 4 (1700/2100) and i need it in my country. Is there a way to fix this? Is a model in europe with band 4? Can i flash the modem with band 4? Thanks a lot!
As the phone should be available, are there any news about the firmware of Europe phones? Is the bootloader unlocked / unlockable?

Question Has anyone found a fix yet for the Android 12 screen freeze after unbricking with the eur/in 9pro msm tool?

Even on the newest stable OOS12 build (C40) the touchscreen still doesn't work as well as the sim card.
While the Indian 9pro msm method was able to unbrick my phone, it seems to have broken the firmware in a weird way. I flashed the global stock OOS11 rom and thought I returned my phone back to it's out of the box state. One thing I noticed was the country code when logging into the community app was locked in for India. Then of course when I updated to android 12 (C39, then C40), I cannot use the touchscreen and the sim won't work. Is there any way to fix this? I can still use my phone via USB OTG.
How did you flash global stock oos11 rom? Did you use fastboot or the global msm tool? Also what version of the oneplus 9 do you have?

I have the global NA OnePlus 9. In my post above I used fastboot to flash global oos11 using this tutorial but keep in mind you can't update to android 12 with this method and you won't have a "pure" oos11 rom.
I've since come across a better method that fixed all my issues, getting me to the truly pure out of the box global oos11 rom (which now updates to oos12 flawlessly). See here.
Note the param part, I am pretty sure the aa file he provided is only for the north American global op9.

Question TWRP and LineageOS for OP9

Hi!
I've been trying to find TWRP and LineageOS files for OP9 without success. Both redirect to OP9pro repositories.
For instance:
× TWRP: the OP9 page links to OP9pro download mirror
× TWRP: the OP9 page links to OP9pro XDA support thread
× LineageOS: OP9 seems to be a supported device however, oddly enough, the OP9 repository is completely empty while the OP9pro repository seems quite active
Am I missing anything?
Can I assume OP9pro material can be safely used on OP9, too?
Or is OP9 in some way special and there is a lack of interest in developing for this particular phone?
Thanks in advance.
I can only speak from experience, TWRP is the same for both, although right now it is for Android 11 and the OP9 has received Android 12, it doesn't work with that version properly yet. Either way you can test it by yourself without doing anything permanent by using
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
As for Lineage, it seems for the OnePlus 9 they only store the latest version, but it should still be fine, most probably OnePlus 9 Pro roms would work on the OP9 thanks to the hardware similarities, but could have some issues with some more specific hardware such as the camera, I wouldn't recommend it unless otherwise stated by the developers.
The first official build for the OP9 is now available. I recommend you use that instead of the OP9pro builds if you wish to avoid hardware-specific issues.

but , like OP said, the build for TWRP OP9 on teamwins site actually just links to the pro build. noticed the same issue and contacted teamwin as it doesnt respond once loaded. At least Nebrassy's version booted and let you do some things 9except decrypt the partitons)
I don't really know anything about TWRP for the OP9, since I don't use it. I just know about official LineageOS builds for the OP9.
I know it's been awhile, have you had any luck?

Question xiaoxin pad 11 pro

Good morning
So I've a xiaoxin pad 11 pro:
Model: tb-j706f
android version: 10
software version: tb-_706f_rf01_201229
ROM: TB-J706F_S240073_201229_ROW
kernel: 4.14.117 from 2020
Widevine: L1
And I whant to update to TB-J706F_S620150_211226_ROW. So my questions are many
-Can i use lenovo sofware to update?
-Do i need to lock or unlock oem bootloader from settings?
-Can only be done using QFIL or other softwares?
-Do i need to find out if it's region lock?
-How to backup this img, if everything goes wrong?
-Do i have to install the original chinese version, or can i just update the international one?
I see alot of threats talking about going from international to chinese, but I like to have play store and keepping widevine lv.1. Without having to do a lot of "work".
I've tried to use the OTA function, but downloads the update (just after my current version) it restart's and gets to the lenovo logo on the screen and reboots. Like a boot loop. I've to manually shutdown the tablet and it's back to normal.
After readding this forum, i still dont see a uniform way to update this device, and more importantly a easy way to do it. Can all of you help me?
- yes
- no
- yes
- even CN versions can be flashed with global rom
- you could still flash an img you download online if something wrongs happen
- it's on your own, if you have L1 with global unless you want latest updates no need to go CN, stay global.
if OTA update doesn't work maybe reset the device or even flash the newest rom available from lolinet then update with OTA.
@melones22 Thanks for the aswers.
Do you know if i download the newest global rom from lolinet, and force install, if i keep my lv1?
if you relock bootloader, likely. personally with natsafety patch + hde etc still l3
be absolute sure that you didn’t modified anything else than flashing before relocking

To flash a ROM you can use QFIL, I never used Lenovo softwaare so I am not sure if you can flash form there only last version or if you have a choice.
Normally you should not be required to use QFIL and you should be able to update with OTA updates.

You should backup QCN with QFIL and all partitions (you can probably exclude vendor and userdata) with QFIL or edl, there is a guide for both methods (I use edl) https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/two-ways-to-backup-tb-j706f-without-unlocking-bootloader.4402799/

You should be able to update your global ROM but since you are having problems I don't exclude you might need to go back to CN ROM before flashing again the Global ROM.

I am not sure what's the problem with your OTA update.
I would suggest to:
Backup your QCN and all partitions first
Open your QCN with QCNView and check the region in NV Item 6858
If your region is 02 is Global and OTA update should work, so maybe try a factory reset and see if after OTA update works.
If it's 00 (region unlocked) or 01 (China) that might be the reason OTA updates are not working.
Edit
I read again the version you have now and it's quite old, that probably does not have any region lock.
In the one tablet I had from the shop with Chinese ROM I flashed TB-J706F_S250260_210804_ROW, that set it as global region and then from that I run OTA updates.
So I think you should backup as I said before and then flash TB-J706F_S250260_210804_ROW, make sure to select the right settings in QFIL and NEVER check "Reset state machine".

Hi Mr. Crayon,

Hello.
Thanks @MrCrayon, but i never has able to use qfil to backup my device. To complicated for me. But thanks for the help.
So what i did to update my tablet. After feeling the same way @shaoki92 , i just tried to use lenovo tools. And... puff... update done.
No problems what so ever,
Did not lose L1
And did not have to mess with bootloader or region lock.
But i understand that i took a big risk. The tablet could've become just a paper weight. But until now working fine. With new android and everything.

Hi front3,
May i ask how do you update using lenovo tools ? Thanks
Im no expert that so ever. But i can tell you that i did.
Install lenovo assistance, on windows.
Used the charging cable of the tablet to connect to pc.
Launch the app
Connect to the device via app
(And i dont remember now, but i think its recue my device, and update, inside the app)
The app gives you a warning about using the tool on CH devices, and i took the risk.
Check the firmware version that the app gives you, and what it the lastest that has been deploid. Just to be sure. And do it if you dont mind taking the risk, do it.
In my case, the version that the app recomended has not on lolinet at that time. It only show up there, weeks later. But because the app connects to lenovo servers directly, i think it was safe.
Be careful because you can brick the device. And like @MrCrayon explained, i had one very old firmware, so xiaoxin didnt have the same "security" feactures has the newer devices. So maybe that is why it worked.

Cannot upgrade to 12.5 MIUI

I have a Russian (thanks Amazon !!) Redmi 9a 32Gb/2gb. It is currently running latest 12.0.x ROM version, but i would like to upgrade it to 12.5.
I see on xiaomi ROM site there is currently a 12.5.x version for Russian version, but the OTA never arrived and if i download the recovery zip file and install it manually, it fails verification and stops.
Is there a way to install 12.5 without unlocking the bootloader ?
Is 12.5 supported on this specific redmi 9a ?
thanks !
mmm... spflashtool might work, but Ive only ever used it on a bircked device to unbrick it, never on a functional device to just change the ROM version, but if you really wanna do it without unlocking bootloader thats your best choice.
I will say anyway, its probably safer to unlock bootloader install recovery and install the rom from there, its your call tho.
Heres how I unbricked my device

Thanks
Right now I cannot unlock the bootloader, maybe in the next months I might try (I want to wait for the warranty to expire). My concern is that my version of Redmi 9A with just 2G of Ram is actually not compatible with MIUI 12.5. The 12.5 rom is actually available, but OTA will leave me in the 12.0 branch and verification fails if I try to install the ROM manually. I would not want to brick it by installing an unsupported ROM.
My phone model is M2006C3LG and the ROM I have right now says I have 1.8Gb of available RAM, I don't think you have a different device from mine.
Im a total n00b so I may be wrong about this next thing, but, I think the only difference is what version of MIUI they were sold with since the hardware doesn't allow downgrades further than the stock ROM that came with the device.
There is always antirollback after MIUI 10, but I think its even further locked for the original stock ROM that came to the device, but yeah, this is all my own speculation due to a bricking incident I faced.
The model number is the same, but the 9A was available with different sizes of RAM 2 or 3 or 4 Gb. Mine is the low end 32/2 which is the model still on sale today. If you still have 1.8 Gb of free RAM you very likely has the 3 or 4 GB model.
Maybe you are right, the OTA allows only for updates within the same MIUi version; I saw several guides on-line and i think i will try the miflash tool and switch to the global version. I have to find a way to unlock bootloader without Xiaomi account (no way in hell I'm signing up for that) and without sim card (this phone is used as a smaller wi-fi only tablet). There are some tools for an offline unlock, I will try those first.
It is incredible how Xiaomi is making it complex just to update to a stable official ROM; given also how much bloatware is shovelled with the stock ROM, I'm not sure I will ever consider Xiaomi again.

Thanks for the info. So you upgraded to latest 12.0 without moving to 12.5, any reason for not trying 12.5 ? The phone is currently barely usable with Android 10, maybe Android 11 is even heavier, but why not give it a try ?
I saw several youtube videos and guides and by using MI Flash with a Fastboot image (scattered tgz) it should be a total reflash of the phone.
