Question Restore stock fw + widevine - Lenovo P11

Hi guys
I just bought my P11 pro from AliExpress with the not so good global ROM and unlocked bootloader. Also, L3 widevine.
Is there a way to put the stock fw back and restore the widevine L1?
Is the stock fw better than the global fw?
Thanks in advance

Install Stock ROM - Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 [TB-J716F]
How to install Stock ROM - Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 [TB-J716F] I tried installing a GSI-ROM on this tablet, which basically worked except for three/four bugs I coulnd't solve. So I tried to restore the Stock ROM in the meantime and will share my...

Thanks! I read it but still got questions.
Is the stock fw fully translated to English?
Re-installing the stock fw will allow for OTA updates?
Is there a downside to the stock fw?
Also, as I can understand, there is no way to restore widevine L1 once the bootloader has been unlocked. Does anyone know anything about that?

English is my native language and the Chinese ROM on this 2021 Pad Pro 11" is actually pretty decent. I have no translation issues. There are a few apps you will want to disable and you will have to manually install the play store but once you’ve done that it works fine. Its fully google certified and Netflix etc shows up in a search. I use Nova Launcher rather than the Lenovo launcher which I would also recommend.
Mine came with the Chinese firmware so I didn’t have to do any messing about and my widevine L1 is intact, I have received x2 OTA’s an I manually flashed to update to ZUI13. I believe other people eventually received those updates via OTA as well.
I’m sure I’ve seen people on the thread who have successfully flashed back to the Chinese ROM, locked bootloader and regained Widevine L1.

I can confirm this.
I recently ordered the P11 Pro from bangood.
This also came with a outdated global ROM and Widevine L3.
After Installing the Chinese ROM with above guide and locking the bootloader I got Widevine L1.
I hope this helps.

That's great! How did you relock the bootloader?
I was able to reinstall the stock fw witch already received OTA update to ZUI 13 (yay!)

I used the script shared by Tropaion in his post on how to unlock/lock the boot loader:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lock-unlock-bootloader-xiaoxin-pad-pro-2021-tb-j716f.4347321/
What is important is that you have to install ADB fast boot and for me I also had to install the lenovo driver shared by zeroflame15 in his reply to the post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...n-pad-pro-2021-tb-j716f.4347321/post-85850437
When you have all drivers installed all you have to do is run the script and follow the steps.
I hope this helps!

Thank you guys!
I was able to re-lock the bootloader and restore widevine L1
Turns out that even though I have the L1 certification, Netflix , Amazon and Disney will limit the quality of the streaming because it is a portable device. No HDR on Netflix too... Bummer. Still, I managed to install stremio and get the quality I pay for.

That's odd. As you can see in the screenshot attached I do have the option to stream in full HD via Netflix now. You might want to try reinstalling Netflix via the Google play store as this should now also be certified. (At least it is for me) HDR capabilities I am still missing however.

You can get Dolby Vision on the P12 but as you say HD only. Stremio is the way forward. I have kept my subs live for use on the TV but at least we can watch in full quality in bed.

Help with Netflix on Lineage

I recently bought a Lenovo Yoga Pad 3 Plus and installed Lineage 14.1 with TWRP. I've rooted the tablet with Magisk systemless, and it passes safetynet and has L1 certification for widevine. Despite that, Netflix and Amazon Video still won't play in HD. Is there something I'm missing, or will those apps simply not work in HD on Lineage? My bootloader is unlocked, if that makes a difference. Any help is appreciated.

even if the device supports widevine L1, the bootloader has to be locked. You might have to restore to stock and relock the bootloader. Read page 12 of https://storage.googleapis.com/wvdocs/Widevine_DRM_Getting_Started_Devices.pdf

CN Ver. with flashed OS

I ordered a new phone and just spotted that its "CN Ver. with flashed OS":
1. Do I need to worry?
2. Does that mean I lose the Widevine and Google Pay support?
3. Can I reset manually reset the phone to "stock" international version (just in case it comes with a virus etc.)?
I think it's T-mobile Variant

I assume they mean a custom ROM (flashed by the user). All ROMs are "flashed". How else would it get on the phone?
1. Probably not.
2. You don't "lose" Widevine. It drops Widevine status from L1 to L3. Which means Netflix reduces the video resolution from 720p to 480p (and apparently also some other video services like Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO). Widevine L1 status is restored if you return the phone to stock condition and relock the bootloader.
I don't know about Google Pay on a custom ROM, but it works fine on the stock ROM with root.
3. Yes.

This is actually from eGlobalCentral who are basically a Chinese seller, but with depots in Europe...
(So suspect they are taking stock CN phones and flashing with the international stock ROM - but who knows)
As long as I can "reinstall" the international version + boot loader (and re-lock) without any limitations compared to the official version (auto updates, full google pay etc.) I can stop my worrying...

I think you're fine! Granted they don't send you some clone device and it's REAL OnePlus hardware. The MSM tools that are floating around here on XDA will restore the device to stock and lock the bootloader for you, so no worries there, just make sure to use the correct MSM tool for the device you end up with.
Side note, I notice for me anyway that the MSM tool only flashes one partition, it's a good idea to do a local upgrade from the phone itself after using the MSM tool, just in case.

There won't be any issues with fake hardware (have used the site a few times before) - they are just poor at communicating when an item is in stock in Europe versus in stock in China (with the extra delay of it being shipped to Europe warehouse) - but they consistently have excellent prices.
(with all the delays I might just go straight to the Q beta!!!)
Thanks all!
Please share your experience

i think the CN version you're talking to is the CHINA VARIANT GM1910 ??? these variants have hydrogen OS installed out of the box,,
but there are some sellers who tampered it and install Oxygen OS then reseal it ... JUst like mine,, Im from the Philippines and i opt to buy a GM1910 china variant FLASHED with global rom (OXYGEN OS) because of the GOLD WHITE COLOR
and because it's now in OXYGEN os, it has all the GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES installed. and lastly,, the WIDEVINE L1 is still intact.. you will only loose it if you unlock its bootloader...
GM1910 is the Chinese variant OnePlus 7 Pro running HydrogenOS (with GM21 build tag).
It is possible to flash both GM21AA (global) and GM21BA (EU) OxygenOS firmware on top of the HydrogenOS using the Local Upgrade method.
Bootloader unlocking is not necessary for switching to OxygenOS.
After conversion, you'll get OTA update from the respective branch.

Netflix in SD

guys, here netflix is showing L3 widevine and with that it supports maximum SD. The device shows L1 in DRM INFO. someone else experiencing the same problem?
Im using last Android 10 January security patch. Bootloader Locked, No Root... ALL STOCK.
That's how it is. Netflix doesn't only require L1, but it also only let's the devices they whitelist to stream HD. Your device is L1 and netflix app is lying about it.
Everything works perfect in the Disney+ app. You'll get beautiful HD and it's clearly using the DRM.

So, good news. I recently installed the a11 update and netflix is now working in HD.
(I updated with the "Rescue and Smart Assistant" tool from lenovo for motorola phones, it offered the 11 update as a rescue image. It wipes the phone but atleast i got it in europe before the schedule)
- it was strange thought that play store didn't want to install netflix or disney+, i had to sideload them from apkmirror.

Question Lenovo TB-J716F: Keeping Widevine L1 when rooting

Hello everyone,
it seems that it's currently not possible to root the Lenovo XiaoXin Pad Pro 2021 (TB-J716F) and keep Widevine L1 at the same time. Once the bootloader is unlocked, the tablet seems to lose Widevine L1 and falls to L3.
As soon as someone finds a way to root the device and not lose L1, please post it in this thread.
Thanks a lot! Have a nice day
HANN1860BAL
I have had some luck with some Magisk modules on my Xiaomi Mi 9T pro which is unlocked, rooted and still has L1. I will post the modules I installed when I get home so you can try it.
EDIT:
Universal safetynet fix by kdrag0n
MagiskHide Props Config by Didgeridoohan
Not sure if it supports this tablet yet but I think there's a way to copy your L1 devices fingerprint and then put it on the rooted/unlocked one.
Thank you, I will check this modules for compatibility. It is hard to get the official ROMs currently, so I'm not going to "try & error" at the moment.
Is it possible to restore L1 on a locked/unrooted device when one doesn't have the original QCN file anymore?
(I did "reset all before download" in QFIL configuration)
Sorry, I didn't try to root so far.

Widevine L3 on stock locked bootloader

I have a stock GM1917, running OSS 11.0.9.1.GM21AA. I've never unlocked bootloader, ironically because I didn't want to lose L1. I just download DRM Info and it reports Widevine L3.
What's up with that, and is there anything I can do about it? I'm thinking about rooting now that I can see that you can retain L1.
Try flashing latest OOS 11 image from MSM tool. Internet says it fixes the L3 issue.
Note:
1) Flashing ROM from MSM tool will wipe data so backup first.
2) The image necessarily needs to be Oxygen OS 11. Version 10 won't fix anything.
I have this issue as well. But I am living with it as I don't use Netflix stuffs. Let the community know if it fixes.
MSM flashing didn't help. Tried multiple times/versions, including before ever unlocking the bootloader for the first time. I think some of us just have a bad device that can't be fixed by MSM.
I have the same problem on my 7 pro (GM1911), Did anyone found any solution to this issue ?
