Xtrons PQS1139BL issues - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hello, I purchased an Xtrons PQS1139BL and it's been a toxic relationship. I love the features but its very buggy. Xtrons says there are no updates for this unit and I think they are tired of dealing with me.
This is my bug list.
Every electrical noise came out the speakers such as alternator whine, the idle are control valve on the engine, turning the headlighs on and off causes a pop. The solution so far has been Xtrons sent me a filter that removed 75% of the noise but my wife still could not stand riding in the car so I gutted the factory BMW DSP and added my own 4CH amp the is ran off of the RCA cables and that resolved 99% of the noise. But this unit only has front RCA out so now I lost fader control.
Unit lockups about 1 to 2 minutes after starting the car the UI will freeze and what is on the screen will stay but the steering wheel controls will still continue to beep when pressed eventually the screen will turn black and the steering wheel controls will stop beeping then sometimes the unit will reboot and come back and other times I need to restart the car at a red light or pull over and restart. My wife pointed out that it mostly happens after I reverse which lead me to this forum and as an experiment I cut the reverse input to the headunit and now the lockups after starting the car went from 50% to 5% but now I lost my backup camera. One thing to add is that once the unit is up and running it works fine so I don't think it's a heat issue.
Wireless carplay, the unit came with an app called multiplay and half of the time it would say "MFI chip not found". So Xtron's sent me USB adapter that uses an app called autokit and that works okay but my phone shows that it's charging but it's actually loosing a charge so I bought a USB Y adapter to add power from a cigarette lighter plug.
The versions that my unit shows is
Model PX6
Android 10
Build number rk3399-userdebug 10 qq2a.200305.004.a1 eng.hct2.20210630.152440 test-keys
Kernel version 4.19.111+
#131 Thurs Jun 24 2021
MCU version MTCH_GS_V3.78_3
May 31 2021
Is there any hope for this? Can i update it? Can I wipe and reload it? Can I pull logs off of this? I'm about over it.

I resolved the noise issue with an aftermarket amp and the locking up i patched it with a switch in the glove box to reboot the headunit manually. That's the wifes job. This xtrons unit is complete junk.

Xtrons, complete junk. Yep - fake Chinese origin brands that sell from various factories at their best margins (buy cheap, sell expensive)

New MTCD unit, have some issues...

So I just got an MTCD head unit (JY-UL-135). My first Android head unit and so far I'm massively underwhelmed and need guidance to fix a few potential issues. I try to keep my car as stock-looking as possible, so I REALLY don't want switches and knobs all over my interior to do things any other head unit would...
So, issue 1.) The power antenna on my car comes up whenever the head unit is on, even when I'm not using the radio. I almost never use the radio and I don't want my antenna up all the time. Any way to fix this without a switch or disconnecting it entirely?
2.) Bluetooth... I'm not heart broken about losing clear bluetooth audio streaming, (something my cheaper alpine unit had no problem with...) and i use a wired mic, but if this thing can't connect to basic blutooth tech, i may return it. 90% of the reason i got this thing was for a bluetooth garage remote, obd2 reader, bluetooth tire pressure sensors, and a bluetooth arduino board for another project. If this really can't do things even my phone can, it's junk. Those accessories will be delivered next week so i'll find out then but it seems like they shipped this unit with broken bluetooth and still haven't fixed it. Help?
3.) Steering wheel controls. So i understand that without xposed, android head units can only use steering wheel controls for the stock apps. And xposed doesn't work on MTCD units yet...
It's also the slowest android i've seen since my old, old. OLD droid x but that may not be that big a deal over time. So can anyone point me in the right direction for these issues? Also does anyone make a better unit than these?
I returned my mtcd unit because of wifi and bluetooth issues. The antenna issue you have is probably because you hooked up to remote blue line instead of antenna blue line.

Hmm, i might have... but what did you replace the MTCD unit with, an MTCB?
EDIT: I have a crazy idea to keep my nice single din alpine unit connected to my sound system and mount it in my glove box, then connect the android unit to its aux in. Then put the steering wheel controls on a 3.5mm switch box between both units. I'd use the alpine for audio processing, bluetooth music, and hands free calls, then the android for android apps + backup camera and thumbstick music. Am I insane or would this be a good compromise? My phone would also control all the bluetooth peripherals I mentioned. I also plan on getting a dedicated second battery for the audio equipment (already have 2 amps plus a capacitor) so that might be more critical afterwards.
I'm back to stock stereo. Gonna look around for a good unit that is coming later.

I just got a Joying unit for a Jeep this weekend.
#1 - can't help, Jeep antenna stays up all the time
#2 - I only use Bluetooth for phone calls or playing audio, works fine in both scenarios. One odd caveat is that if I am on a phone call the audio seems only to come out of the front passenger speaker. I use the included external mic and people say I sound fine
#3 - My steering wheel controls half work. Volume and mute work all the time, same for Bluetooth phone. The controls to change the track only work on stock apps like Music, A2DP, DVD, etc, meaning it does not work on Google Play Music or Pandora. Volume steering wheel controls work fine with Pandora and Google Play Music
I have the Same Unit.. I have it on the bench as I was getting ready to installing in place of my Newsmy. I tested the remote lines tonight.
Power antenna, shows 12v once power is applied.. stays at 12v until Accessory power is removed.
Amp Remote works as it should, it I power off the radio from the knob. the 12v amp remote turns off.. Ant stays on.. ALL THE TIME. This unit is no better than my Newsmy. I have had it too long now to return it. Guess I will sell it for something simple. I am going to miss the back up camera, but I need something that fully works as I have full power mast antenna..

JY-UL124 here
+1 to Bluetooth issues. SuperSU completely broke bluetooth forcing me to reflash to get any functionality back.
I'm really bummed they basically lock you into joining only a phone and an ODB device and that's it. Nothing else can be paired with the unit. This is a little hokey and really devalues the whole system in my opinion.
Bluetooth has pretty poor sound quality through the unit too but it may not be bluetooth specifically causing the issue. I drive an FJ cruiser so cabin sound proofing isn't great to begin with. To compete with road noise I have to blast the stereo and the highs come up fuzzy in the process. When I'm stopped or idleing it seems that most of my issue goes away and the sound isn't half bad provided I'm playing from a sound file physically on my phone and not streaming. I need to tear into it again later to install the front camera and fog lights so when I do that I'll add in some capacitors and a torrid to try to clean up power to the unit to see if that helps.
If I'm right, the bluetooth is functional so far as taking the signal and turning it into meaningful audio. It's a digital technology so either the data gets there or it doesn't. I haven't dug too much into the spec but I assume I should be hearing whatever I hear at idle at any speed. Anyhow, once that is turned into an analog signal for delivery to the speakers (and the functional parts in between) that's where you can introduce sound degradation. So this is a function of the amp, or the fact that my hookup wires or so long, or something. I have also noticed that shortly after "bluetoothing" a short sound like a delivery notice the amp stays on for a short second or so and you can hear the interference with some digital rf. (like the sound you get when you put a cell phone too close to computer speakers) It's faint but it is there along with some static. There is no way that bare speaker wire could pick up digital rf and make it sound that loud, so that means somehow rf is leaking into the circuitry before the amp.
I'm praying I'm right and it's leaking in through power somewhere cause that's an easy fix. If it's not then it's something with the board design and there's rf leaking from the circuitry and making it into the audio signal inside the unit. That has a low probability of being fixable.

Best HU to buy? (MTCD, which CPU, MCU etc? )

Hello, I am in search for an Android HU but every time this brings me a headache. I can't reach to a conclusion for which is best. I was looking for an Eonon GA2164 with 2GB ram which I think is MTCD but I do not know which MCU, and also that CPU seems very old.
Here in the forums I see that the best choice for now may be a MTCD with PX5 and 2GB ram. However I am looking for something "less Chinese" (joying, xtrons, dasaita, etc) and from EU warehouse so I can't buy from aliexpress or from the most sellers on ebay that ship from China. I need a HU with lots of unofficial support, full RCA outputs (front, rear, sub), analog steering wheel input and I prefer a physical volume knob instead of touch buttons.
Can you suggest something that I could check out?
Thank you!
PS: the xtrons TB706PL is PX5? If yes, the only downside I can find is that it only has touch buttons in the front, which is not good while driving...
I had a similar dilemma
I wanted PX5 HU due to Malaysk ROM >> not Joying
best would be HU from Dasaita, but they haven'ẗ EU warehouse
I finally chose TB706APL (PX5, 2GB RAM) from Xtrons due EU warehouse (but their official support is tragic)
I use the buttons on the steering wheel >> I don't miss the physical buttons on the HU
What do you mean by tragic support? You mean for the official FW updates? Or for warranty/returns, contacting, tech issues?
From what I have seen while I was trying to get answers for some headunits, I could easily consider Eonon's support the best (for tech issues and answering questions. Also for defective devices they accept returns at the EU warehouse!). Joying's support for updates seems good and also good for contacting them but they told me that if I have any problem with the unit, I have to sent it to China. But Eonon haven't released any new hardware, and Joying has Intel Sofia.
What about Intel Sofia? I have seen some threads here but I think there is not so much support as PX5. Am I right?

I don't know about an alternative ROM for Intel Sofia, but maybe I'm wrong
I think that on XDA is more support for PX5
Thanks for the info, this unit seems very nice, even with the stock rom as I can see in videos.
May I ask you some questions about this device?
1) In the official store I see TB706PL. Not TB706APL. Are those the same?
2) Because I can't find installation manual in their website so I can't see what cables are on the back side, is there any cable for brightness dimming when turning on the lights? The Night Mode setting depends on the clock's hour, or when you turn on the lights it dims the display to the pre-set Night Mode level?
3) Have you tried to connect OBD2 reader? I have a vGate OBD so I do not want to buy xtrons... Does it support 3rd party OBD, or just the xtrons?
Edit:
I found some schematics on the net and I can see that the xtrons unit doesn't have any ILL (illumination) cable for dimming, SW (steering control), Reverse control.... How do you connect steering wheel resistance based cables? And reversed camera control cable for enabling it when you go in reverse?
+1 for hotaudio.. seems to be the only active manufacturer on here

hmm yeah Dasaita seems nice, and also has for my vehicle a 10.1 inch PX5 unit ready to install on my car like OEM appearance.
Tha official store is in aliexpress only? Damn I can't buy from China so expensive item... These months in my country, customs are going crazy! That is why I need EU warehouse.
But between Joying, xtrons, eonon there is no unit that seems to have everything I want! Every one of them has pros and cons.
And now I just realize that maybe I posted in the wrong forum, because now I am talking generally for headunits and not just for MTCD. haha but anyway firstly I wanted to find out which MTC /MCU is more supported and is more future proof (faster CPU, more RAM). So we are concluding to PX5 2GB? Are all of the PX5 chipsets in the MTCD category? Only the MCU are different between the manufacturers?

I don't use stock ROM from Xtrons, I use Malaysk ROM
point 1 - they renamed this unit from TB706APL to TB706PL, in my order was TB706APL, but I do not see any difference
point 2 - in my country is mandatory daytime running lights, so I did not look for something that, I'm sending a wiring diagram, maybe you'll find it there, I'm not sure how this is solved
point 3 - i have old OBD2 reader from China ($4-5) and it works, but Its name must be OBD (OBD2), I ordered in China the second piece because I could not find the original before, If it will have the correct name, I can send a link
point 4 (edit)
- ILL (illumination) cable for dimming - in wiring diagram number 13 - now i find, I forgot to connect it (I have to fix it, thank you )
- SW (steering control) - i have steering control with two cables, first is pointed to KEY1 (number 3) and second to ground (number 15)
- And reversed camera control cable for enabling it when you go in reverse? - number 5 (CAM-IN) for video cable, number 6 (CAM-LINE) for cable connected to return light - when reverse gear is selected, the rear camera automatically turns on

Wow thank you for that! Yesterday I found a wiring that didn't show all that.
So now if you connect the ILL to your light switch I think that the HU will dim when you turn on the switch. DRL maybe doesn't matter, they are turned on without the light switch being on. (can't be 100% sure because I do not have in my car) Maybe the OEM connector on your car have this cable already. Mine for example was dimming the stock HU when I was turning on the lights switch, so there is an ILL cable on the connector.
For OBD, the name of mine V-LINK in bluetooth devices. If it is found in bluetooth search, it can't connect if it is not named "OBD"? This doesn't make sense. Even not on Malays rom?
I have problems with other cheap no brand Chinese OBDs that I have tried so changing to an other OBD is not an option for me
Hi without a doubt, the best radio is dasaita px5
good quality and great support

problems and disadvantages everywhere... That is why everytime I am searching for a headunit, I finally quit and don't buy anything haha
Damn... Hot-Audio seems to have a unit that appears the same as xtrons, and it is cheaper and as you say they have better support. But I can't buy it Maybe the whole device is the same and only the MCU and the Android Launcher is different. Will the xtrons have a lot of differences from Hot Audio? I can install the same roms (for PX5), the only different will be the MCU updates. Am I right?

according to what I read here, the differences should also be in the quality of processing, Hot Audio (Dasaita) should be top, Xtrons should be a little worse
but here are brands that are waste too
yes, you can install the same ROMs (for PX5) on PX5 HU from brands Xtrons, Dasaita, ... you can install ROM from Dasaita (update.img) on Xtrons's unit
MCU update should be updated only from your brand, but there are forum members who try to combine it, I don't have the courage to do it

I talked to them on AliExpress. They offered me to put a value of 50usd on the invoice. However in my country especially since the beginning of 2017 they try to take as much more money they can so they do not care about the paperwork. They easily can ignore the invoice, search on the internet for the product and put whatever value they want... They do not even ask the customers for the paypal invoice. Also it can stay at the airport for 1 or 2 months... So I can't buy from Dasaita. The next option is xtrons but I am reading in other thread for problems on some MCUs and I am afraid that maybe my xtrons have a crappy MCU. Do they always send the same hardware for the same HU model?

Well, I asked them but they are not telling me. First they told me "The MCU is STM32F091VCT"
And after I asked again to give me the manufacturer (GS, etc) they told me Sorry we can't give you that.
Your TB706APL is GS? I also asked them what are the differences between TB706PL and TB706APL and told me that it is actually the same as APL, just a tiny bit shorter, less than 1cm. I guess they just changed the casing. But how the hell am I going to be sure it will be GS if they can't provide me with this info? Crappy company I assume.

yes, my TB706APL is GS
my HU is also shortened compared to previous versions, I think they say nonsense

I see... So either they changed something on the PCB and made it smaller, or they do not know what they are talking about. Good job xtrons
I have no problems with my xtrons. First I had an Erisin with Dualcore processor, then a Pumpkin with a Quadcore processor and now the xtrons with the Octacore. On every previous unit i had problems (most problems with the Pumpkin), but the xtrons runs very fast and without any little problem. The support is also great. I`ve bought the unit via ebay and after a month I`ve asked for the bill. 10 hours later I had a bill.
Only the sound quality (especially over bluetooth) and the DAB signal reception was minimal better on the Pumpkin HU. But overall I would defenitely recommend a xtrons

Nissan QASHQAI/Rogue Dasaita PX5 Installation

Hi there,
I'm trying to install one of the Dasaita PX5 headunits in my new QASHQAI and I've hit a snag. Two of the connectors on the wiring harness included with the unit are identical, but have very different wires coming out of them. I assume they are dependant in your cars factory setup, but since my unit didn't come with any sort of instructions I'm at a loss as to what they are.
My car has the small colour LCD from factory, with a factory rear camera (not the 360 camera) and front/rear parking sensors. Standard manual AC controls (not dual climate).
Any guidance would be appreciated!
I would assume that the "Low Plug" is for cars with low a equipment variant (as you can tell from the cables going into the connector already) and the other one is for cars with a more stuff.
So as of your cars description I would say go with the medium one and test it out.
Yep, I had a better look at the existing wiring loom today and the wires matched pretty well.
Decided to give it a try and it works brilliantly!
Factory rear camera and steering wheel controls all work, and I swear the audio quality using on board apps is better than the factory unit.
Hello, is it an android 8.0 unit ? If yes, does bluetooth works ?
This unit runs Android 6.0. There are 8.0 upgrade guides floating around but I honestly haven’t had the time or inclination to try it, the unit is working really well as is.
Bluetooth phone calls work great.
Bluetooth audio streaming works but I’ve used it maybe once briefly (I do all music and streaming directly on the headunit) so I cant really comment on how well audio works.
Ok thanks, I'm considering byuing a dasaita but I heard bluetooth doesn't work with android 8.0 units !

Have you connected the reverse trigger wire? I *think* its pink in color.. or blue. You'll probably have to splice it. This trigger is connected to your reverse gear, so that when you are in reverse, the screen will switch to camera.

I have the same car radio model, I have a question about the cable connection for the rear camera, I have a yellow cable from the power cable called cvbs, and two yellow cables on the camera aux cable, one says Aux Video In and the other Cam VIN, to which should I connect the Cvbs cable?
?

Hey mate, I'd have to pull out my unit to check, but I'd expect you connect it to the CAM IN connector. The White/Red RCAs should be for the AUX input in the armrest, and the yellow RCA for the camera.
I assume you have a factory camera yes? With it all connected my factory camera automatically flicks on when in reverse (even if the unit is still booting).

thank you for the answer, CVBS don't work

I'm really drawn to this head unit for my 2017 Rogue SL AWD. My current non-Android Auto/Car play unit is basically just a bluetooth steamer. The built-in maps are so slow, outdated, cumbersome and without helpful traffic info that I simply use Google maps. This new unit looks sharp and allows full functionality without paying Nissan that crazy monthly fee.
I'm in 100% if I can more or less just do a swap out.

I bought mine from Ali Express ( Dasaita 10.2 - PX6 Android 9 ) and shipped to Australia in 5 days, I couldn't be more happier with the head unit.
All the Qashqai functions operate including the 360 all round camera, TPMS, Android auto and Carplay.
Hello All
I have dasaita px6 installed on my Qashqai as well
I want to know external MIC location best place as the built-in MIC was good initially then it became poor
Installed external MIC under the steering wheel but still voice is far
Hi all, i have Nissan Qashqai 2018 and i just few days ago i got my Dasaita PX5. Everything looks fine and work very well, but I am little bit concerned about noise which is coming out from device. Every time when I accelerate I am getting some kind of whistling noise coming out from device. Noise sometimes disappears but than come back again and started to be very noise. I tested and its coming from screen device, only disappears when I unplug the big black plug (which I think it is a main electrical socket or power supply because without that is not working). Do you guys have any similar issues before? Do you have any suggestions how to fix same one?
Second question is regarding to the SWC option. I connected everything how they did suggest but still is not working. I did choose proper settings on display and still nothing changed. I tried to contact support but until today no answer.
All help is more than welcome

Do you have any pics you wouldn't mind sharing? Also, this is several months later, so... how do you still like it?
Thanks!

Had the HU for over a year now and it's faultless, everything just works i.e Factory Park Assist, 360 all round camera, GPS,DAB+.
Also I have the Carlinkit Carplay USB dongle which for me works every time with no issues where others have issues with inbuilt Carplay HU using ZLink.

Erisin head unit in Skoda Superb, static across all channels

Installed the Erisin ES7915v in a 2009 Skoda Superb a few days ago. PX5 running Android 9.0.
Install was fine and things are working well except for a constant static that appears whenever the volume is above zero. The static does not change volume but it's easily noticeable at lower volumes especially on e.g. non-music radio. There was no static at all on the previous setup (the factory fitted Skoda Columbus / RNS 510). Turn volume to zero and static disappears.
The car has an amp under the passenger seat (factory fitted again). It doesn't use RCA cables - just standard speaker wire cables from the wiring harness in the head unit down to the amp and then out to the speakers. The head unit has the option of using RCA cables.
So:
1. I've altered gain up to -15 and it doesn't have any overall effect.
2. While the static volume doesn't change, the pitch can do so with acceleration etc.
3. It's not related to the screen or the button colours - I've altered those / turned screen off but it has zero effect.
4. I can use the software amp to bring down treble frequencies which helps lower the static but that's not ideal and doesn't come close to eliminating the whole noise.
5. I've tried running a ground wire attached to the head unit to the chassis but no effect.
6. No dash cam. No DAB. No reversing cam (yet).
7. I have a 4g dongle in the glovebox providing wifi but the static is there whether this is on or off.
8. Unplugging the radio aerial doesn't have an effect.
9. Unplugging GPS aerial doesn't have an effect.
Any further suggestions? And is this a faulty unit OR is this likely to happen even if I get a replacement?

What did the reseller suggest to resolve the issue?
So far the reseller response is " " because they haven't replied to two emails.

Suggest identifying the actual model of your unit; if it's an MTCD or mtce, there are others complaining of similar issues in the threads that you might want to look for.

Thanks. I'll post that later when I am with the car again. I checked through a lot of previous threads and the few solutions that have helped others on occasion were no good for me.

So this is an MTCE unit:
MTCE_LM_V3.12_1
May 16 2019
Model: PX5(1024x600)
CPU: Octa-core Cortex-A53 @ 1.5G
Build number: rk3368-userdebug 9 PQ2A and I can type out the rest if it's important.
So I guess that means it's from LEI_MA Lei Electronics Inc
I have also found that the static is caused by the lights. With headlights / sidelights OFF, there is no static. It *doesn't* appear to be the result of the LCD or the lights of the buttons on the unit (this has been an issue for others). When I turn the headlights off, the static goes immediately but the lights on the unit remain on for half a second - but the static has already ceased.
So with that knowledge, should I move this post or is this the place for MTCE discussion as well?
Any thoughts on how best to tackle the interference from the lights would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hello,
I hope you find solution with the static.
Since i am interested also for this unit, can you tell if everything else works fine?
Does the CANbus fitted directly?
Steering wheel controls works fine?
How much time the unit need to boot?
Thanks
Same unit, same Problem. VW Golf 5 (2008).
I could solve the problem. The radio antenna is not connected and it is gone. Likewise with only one antenna connected (double fakra), it is gone. Radio still works.

Carplay issues looking for solutions dasaita mx6 rav4

Hello I installed the newest sygav unit in my car which i think is the same as the dasaita unit and i just anted to know if anyone else had these issues and or might have solutions i'm currently on the android 10 firmware
-There is static coming out of what seems to be my right dash tweeter
-After an update i feel like my wireless carplay connection is a little slower than before and just overall just a little more laggy than previously (animations don't seem as smooth)
- my rear speakers simply just do not work anymore after installing the headunit which doesn't make sense to me because from what i know in my XLE RAV4 the audio is just one connector for all the speakers since i don't have the JBL upgrade with an AMP
Sell it and get a real carplay unit?
carplay unit?
Dude what is a better carplay unit then the sygav its the dasaita max10...

The dasaita and sygav isn't a carplay unit, it's hacked Android running a Chinese knock off carplay emulator app 'zlink'. Search for that app to read about how buggy it is.
If you are looking for real, certified, carplay, an example is Sony XAV-AX1000.
I don't get why people buy these Android head units only to want to screen send from their mobile device, when the idea of having an Android head unit it to load apps onto it and use that as primary vehicle device.
