Hi, I've been using the Poco X4 Pro for a month now, it's been a smooth ride though the development for the device is very slow and almost non existent as of now since kernel sources have not been released
The only major flaw I've found with the X4 Pro is the screen flickering, this does not seem like a software issue as I've already tried Miui IN, Miui Eu, Miui global, (Unofficial) Pixel Experience Plus, (Unofficial) Evolution X
The screen flickering is most noticable in a dark environment (basically at night) and the most annoying part is that it occurs while watching multi media content
I don't think I am the only one who has this problem as some of the people in the telegram group for the device explain the same thing
so i don't think getting a replacement will help much as it may be the same for all devices just when u notice it
I don't think there's any "fix" for now atleast
I wanted to ask do you face the same issue on your Poco X4 Pro 5G or Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G?
p.s documenting this is nearly impossible as it happens at random intervals and feels much more subtle on camera than visible with naked eyes
I haven't seen any screen flickering at all and I've watched a lot of content in a dark environment, usually at high brightness. Might be only some devices have it.

You might be right actually, maybe it is only the Indian variant (Peux)
Then use the stock version and wait for the update or just change the display if it is a hardware issue!

Stock rom has the same thing. Changing display might not help actually it seems almost all devices have their screens flickering (noticable in 120hz refresh rate)
So a new display might also have the same problem?

Yup, I have same issue with you. The AMOLED screen on the Poco X4 Pro 5G did not show true black and it shows grey blacklight when the brightness on between 15% - 65%

And I noticed sometimes my Poco X4 Pro 5G have a bit laggy when swiping or scrolling FB, messenger, etc... This issue happened since when its first launched.
I still don't understand why Poco did not want fix all bugs on their phone and What's the point of keep updating security patch?

The lags are definitely a software issue and can be fixed, for me i just got out of Miui and it's pretty smooth for daily use now

i barely notice the bottom part when consuming multi media content (which is usually when this thing happens)
But yeah both are bad though it seems the flickering is at its worse in the top part?
No issues for me with anything mentioned in this thread
have u tried turning off dynamic refresh rate....i had stutters when i turned it on...
Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5g here. No issues on my device either. I notice the screen flickering slightly at night but it seems like a software issue on my end with vivid mode and auto brightness conflicting with one another.
I have this problem with my poco x4 as well, any updates on this?

it's happening to me too my phone is POCO X4 PRO 5G (8,256) global variant and it wasn't back then when i had A11 but since there's A12 it's started flickering specially when it displays dark content and when it was on A11 it couldn't display true black when u put it on 10-25 brightness
It's been a week since I got my Poco X4 Pro 5G and today I noticed that the screen keeps flickering, it is visible in apps that are not completely dark like Facebook or Google. I also noticed that this only happens when I leave the refresh rate at 120hz, at 60hz the screen is normal
same here and also it started on a12
Hello, I have been using the Poco X4 Pro 5G for 1 month and I have the same problem, at a certain level of brightness the screen is gray black that is not amoled black and also flickers, it is most likely a software problem.
There is a solution but it is through an application and they have disadvantages the colors will not be as vivid:
[APP][Official][v1.1] Oreo Colorizer
Oreo Colorizer uses an invisible system overlay operating in wide color gamut that forces the display to shift its color space to DCI-P3 instead of the default sRGB. Optimized Rendering only affects apps that use SurfaceFlinger (IE: 99% of all...

Pocophone F1
as we all know this device has become a viral and hot topic in the smartphone industry, why? because it comes with a crazy specification at a very reasonable price, but most Pocophone users complain about the problem of this phone, so without wasting time, let's look at the list of problems often faced by Pocophone users and how to handle it.
NOTE : This is not 100% solution, maybe some tricks, suggestion, mods will solved your problem , Atleast we can solve the problems to improve user experience.
1) Screen Bleeding Issue.
This issue I think the most popular one , Screen bleeding issue , keep in mind in order to cut the cost, Poco F1 using IPS LCD Display, screen bleeding issue is present in almost LCD equipped phones , a very small has bleed which is apparent during regular use, So this problems is NORMAL for devices that use IPS LCD display type , But this happen just for some users, If you dont like it, try to use your warranty to change a new unit.
2) Touchscreen Lag
The big problems for gamers , touchscreen lag, many users say it was a software problems , in order to solve this, please make sure your software is up to date and recommended to use Stable version to avoid any much problem. For me I personally also play a games. I play Free Fire but the touch was working great and its running smoothly. I dont play PUBG so i dont know how unresponsive it is.
3) PUBG Notch
For now , PUBG team only fix the notch only for India, But soon they will fix it for all users, For now, in order to hide the notch , we can manually hide it from Settings / Full Screen Display / Hide Notch.
4) Ugly Big Notch
In order to solve this, u need to know why the notch is too big, this is because Poco developers put all the things inside the notch such as Infrared Lens, Infrared Lightning, Proximity Sensor, Earpiece, and 20MP front camera. So this is why its too big, but for me , Its not a big deal because i knew that notch was helped me out to unlock my face even in the dark and helps me a lot.

}
5) Battery Percentage Issue
Pffftt.. Just use Miui 10 and it solved. Or use theme.
6) Notifications Icon just for a few seconds
Every users have their own way they like, some just like the clock , some just OK with 2 seconds notifications icons and some want BOTH at the same time. Okay so dont worry , Xioami is a developer friendly, Unlock bootloader and root your device doesnt void your warranty, so in this case we gonna do some modifications on system. If you want both (notifications icons & clock) at the same time, you can use the MOD below. Click the link and just follow the instruction.
http://en.miui.com/thread-4337763-1-1.html
7) Battery draining Issue
Try to turn off Wifi and Bluetooth scanning in settings. Just go to settings and search "scanning" or if you have twrp installed, try to use Sphinx Kernel.
8) Not really quickcharge.
I dont know why people saying this but for me its works fast enough ! If this is not fast enough for you, I recommended using Sphinx Custom Kernel. It can up your fast charge to 900mah ! Everything about Sphinx Kernel just click the link below
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/kernel-sphinx-kernel-v1-7-t3861911
thanks for the developers .
9) Average Camera.
This is the hardware issue. From the poco slogan "Master Of Speed" and not "Master Of Photography" we can know that Pocophone is focusing on your perfomance not your camera. Want better camera ? "Pay more and get more"
10) Poor Build Quality
In order to cut the cost , Build quality in Poco is not at good enough, But hey , use the CASE. your problems solved !
Anything common problems found in Pocophone ? Reply here , instead of asking our developers how many days they need to fix, we try to fix that maybe for temporary used while waiting for updates from Poco Developers. Please state your problems in the comments section, maybe we can fix that together.

"..Poco F1 using IPS LCD Display, screen bleeding issue is present in almost LCD equipped phones ...."
Hmmm... I disagree. I have a Honor 8 which has a perfect LCD screen. No bleeding at all. It cost even less and it even has an IR-blaster. So it IS possible to have a great screen at an affordable pricetag. Especially when everything else is cheaper. The Honor 8 has a camera with both laser-af and PDAF, it has a multi-color notification LED etc...
So using its price as a excuse to justify its flaws (or even broken parts) doesn't sit well.

Ok first of all welcome to oneplus 6. What you have got is the best phone than poco. Also looking at the software support from oneplus, its the top class next to google. The last global stable update we have received is on November which is basically October build. Also one of the forum member has shared that right now oneplus team is busy brining the Android Pie beta build to OnePlus 5/5T ppls and so there is no update on 6. Probably we must be expecting new update next week or so which goes unified for 6 & 6T and surely you can expect 960fps or maybe. Don't worry buddy eventually we will get it.
We've gotten several updates in the short while I've owned this phone. With my Samsung or LG phones I was lucky to even get one...

Poco phone is just a detuned version of Mi8. and OP6 has better screen and builds also, why bother with the camera? sensor on op6 is below average than most flag ships on the market right now, i doubt oneplus will relase any more updates on the camera.
No.
The poco just got pie and we had it for a while. The OB builds are pushing new features as well. So it's a lie to say we have nothing coming.
Yes. Poco is probably the best phone for it's price. OnePlus is the best phone for it's price.
OnePlus is on Android Pie 9.0, and expect it to get manufacturer updates for years to come. Though, I'm still running on Oreo because many apps aren't ready for Pie.
So for me, the development is going a little too fast, but I'll be happy for it in the long term.

Hello Op user, im on one plus 6 beta update and ive got almost 1 update every alternate month since ive purchased op6. Im not sure about the stable software update cycles but op is certainly working on a lot of enhancement as they are rolling out beta updates and im sure it will come out as a large bundle in another month. As for camera updates, op6 improved the slo mo and added night scape in the past few months so it would be unfair to say op isn't working on camera.
Like you, i too constantly hear poco users bragging about having a better device at half the price but trust me poco is not even close to the quality op6 offers. Budget phones often add too much processing (typically high saturation and noise reduction) to make the pictures look good but compromising the quality of the original image. It might look better to the eyes but any pro photographer will tell you that op6 takes way better pictures. So don't get bothered by poco. You can always put 3rd party apps to achieve that kind of images.
But why OnePlus?! Do you make your phone so much better than the Poco, but I'm going to point out this one feature that Poco does better than you! Whyyyyy?
Sarcasm BTW

Trust me Poco not that good, I own it before I use One Plus 6, my main thing to buy phone is camera and gaming. Both criteria are not good with Poco, camera in poco give oversaturate picture and only good in outdoor and daylight, but low light are so bad, that it turn into watercolor. Gaming also no good, alway stutter in game, got spike every time, turn out my unit using emmc storage after Im benchmarking this phone using Memory test app.
Not to mention about bleeding screen and other stuff that bother me, and also Miui is full of bloatware. The 960fps recording that you mention is not supported by poco sensor, but they manage to add it by alter the software, this will stress down the hardware in long time if you always use 960fps recording.

Does it feel smooth? I'm currently deciding if I should buy this phone or the Mate 20 lite (I'm buying with Tre at the same price), I really like the screen and the camera but the SoC is slower on the A7. As long as it is a smooth UI I'll buy this one, since I'm not that interested in graphics demanding games and CPU intensive apps, I just need it to be usable without lags and random freezes.

Don't buy the Mate 20, i bought one before getting the A7, the screen in the Mate 20 is really bad, has one of the grey "ish" blacks I've seen on any recent phones, my unit also had a problem with hot pixels that were only noticeable on black colors in very dark environments

Is it really that bad? I mean, it's an LCD, obviously OLED screens are better, but I was told and I found online that it's a fairly good LCD for a mid-range phone. Also, I don't really mind the screen, I just need a smooth system, and from experience I know Samsung ones can be quite heavy. On the other hand, after two years and a half of EMUI I'd like something that looks newer, and Huawei has recently stopped providing bootloader codes for free. That said, I'll still keep EMUI if it means that it's smoother.

The Mate 20 has a faster chipset, if your priority is power then i guess that's your best option, having said that, the A7 is a very smooth device, i have not found any stutter or any apps that struggles to handle, i think the experience is very good
i primarily use my phone for media consumption and was very disappointed with the screen and audio quality of the Mate 20, the volume with headphones is below average in volume
this is the way i see it:
Mate 20
pros
faster chipset
feels very premium in hand
cons
screen not as good as the A7
sound volume and quality are below average
has a notch
A7
pros
fantastic screen without a notch
very good audio quality (has dolby atmos)
better camera than the mate 20
is widevine L3 certified so you can watch netflix at full hd
you get always on display
cons
the device is very light in a cheap kind of way,
front camera doesn't have autofocus
the side bezels are a bit bigger than we are used to in 2019, i'll take that over a notch
doesn't have usb type-c
i hope that helps with your decision

well, the xiaomi mi A2 is almost half the price of the A7, only $ 180, i don't think is a fair comparison, the A7 is better in every single way but that's to be expected from a device twice the price
if money is not a problem i would go for the A7, if you are on a budget and want to save some money then i guess the xiaomi is a good option, i've never had a xiaomi device so i can't really tell you what to expect

Thanks a lot, a check with Smart Switch revealed that there is an update for the Netherlands as well. I guess for a lot of other European countries tool. Rooted phones will not receive the update OTA, you must manually download it. For that you can use Sammobile.com which is excruciatingly slow however. If it works, use SmartSwitch instead. It is ree, quicker, less of a hassle and you can be sure you get the right version for your phone.

Youre getting a way better camera, super amoled, one ui with a7. One ui is the best skin right now.
Mi a2 has sd660 which is slightly better in gaming and youre getting android one. Better updates.
For me, id go with a7 because of one ui and the camera. Go with mi a2 if you feel like gaming but battery is terrible
hi,
I'm owner of OP8 Pro and yes, also my device has the famous black bar issue (dark horizontal bar from punch hole). It is noticeable only on low brightness (~10%) in a dark room and on certain backgrounds only.
Also certain colors (different shades of gray...) are rendered pretty strange at very low brightness.
Truth being told, this is not something I can notice during normal use (I anyway like to have bright screen, even in darker environments) and othewise the screen is fantastic, but it bothers me just knowing the issues are there
Anyhow, today is the last day of my 15 day-no-questions-asked return window and I'm still thinking whether to return OP8 Pro and go with Find X2 pro or not.
So inputs from Find owners how your screen behaves would be highly appreciated.
thanks!
My screen is perfect on find X2 pro especially with 1B colours
They aren't even in the same league, the configuration and tuning Oppo put in to the display is above and beyond amazing.

The OPPO Find X2 Pro has the best display of any smartphone I've ever used.
I have black crush issues on my Find X2 Pro. It's not major, but I see straight lines from top to bottom on gray backgrounds, and from the punchhole. Green tint when DC Dimming is off. Only with low brightness ofcourse.
im coming from s20+ to oppo x2 pro
while the screen is good i cant help feeling the s20 is punchier
i tried changing screen setting to vivid but is still too washed out
the white is very strong vs samsung that is dimmer
i think samsung also uses a antiglaring tech that makes their phones a bit darker
either way - i wasnt blown away and i find the options to calibrate the colour very basic

Suppose it's down to preference & opinions which I'm respectful of, however just to weight in, I feel Oppo restricted the colour calibrations so much because they put so much time & effort in to it themselves, for me, it's the best out right now, at a push, top 3 out.
I came from Samsung note 9 and the screen on Samsung displays is more punchier as it more vivid.
I was testing both phones with number of demo and test material and the Samsung was indeed puncher and is brighter on material by over compensation of brightness but it was also less accurate in colour production, lost shadow detail, less sharp and banding issues than the oppo.
Same results on my galaxy tab s6 tablet.
The oppo screen is calibrated screen so more true to life image display and has much better shadow detail and no banding issues.
Have a read of oneplus 8 pro vs oppo find x2 pro

The oppo find x2 pro and oneplus 8 pro both have a pixelworks image processor so dedicated hardware.

Some people like the punchier image of the Samsung.
Thanks

Additionally, although the OnePlus 8 Pro's display & the Oppo Find X2 Pro's are similar, the Oppo's is simply in another league, thanks to the time, effort & optimization put in from the Oppo team
Guys could you help me out? I received my X2 Pro (CPH2025) today and it has severe display artifacts.

I guess this isn't supposed to happen?
Hi everyone,
I am almost sure it's a hardware issue, but would love to hear your feedback/opinion.
I am using the 20.7.9 build of Xiaomi.eu, but had the issue with earlier builds as well. It's mainly a bright area in the upper third of the screen, but only if the brightness is very low, like at night, and it's particularly worse with dark mode and reading mode enabled. With dark mode is just the brightness issue, but with reading mode enabled as well it's the festival of colours you see in the photo.
Is anyone else experiencing that?
EDIT: Uploaded better screenshot (previous was particularly because of the wallpaper, current one is not)
Best,
Marshell

I have just gotten the phone today, and now im in the dark and i have a huge greenish tint on the quarter bottom of the screen. And a bit greenish on the top like in your picture. I have no idea where this comes from or how to fix it tho...

I just found out that "DC-Dimming" intensifies the greenish tint by a substantial amount. I have it disabled now

Interestingly enough, that doesn't help an awful lot in my case. However, Reading Mode makes it worse for me.
There's also an interesting post on Reddit crosslinking this one:

A very similar problem seems to also have occurred on the OnePlus 8 Pro and the galaxy S20 Ultra where it was addressed via a software update.
I am currently in contact with the supplier (HKG) and they'd like a video which I will prepare over the weekend.

One additional interesting observation: I used DisplayTest from the Google Play Store to check the different gray settings. None of these nor the gamma tests show anything abnormal. This makes me believe more of a software than a hardware issue...
Thats tge first thing I check. Got perfect screen otherwise I will send it back.

Deactivating another setting seems to help: Settings->Display->Dark Mode->Adjust contrast automatically
Does that work for you as well?

I have the exact same issue bro in the exact same place. I'm using stock ROM
I don't have the device yet (I'm getting it by tomorrow, yey!) but this also happens to my Black Shark 2 before. I bet this is a software issue, and like what others mentioned, it has something to do with DC dimming and HDR enabled, like what I had in Black Shark 2.
Here's on my k30 pro. I don't mind it tho. Although I hope it gets fixed on a software update.

Thanks for mentioning the black shark 2 issue. How did it work out in the end? Did it actually get fixed with an update?

Black Shark 2 has the option to turn off Display Enhancement feature that relies on third-party DSP (Pixelwork's), which includes DC Dimming and HDR settings. Turning off such feature "fixes" the weird tint on dark grey colors. If only Poco has this option.
By the way, I just got my F2 Pro earlier and I did not encounter such issue in MIUI11. However, after updating to MIUI12, it's very noticeable even in low brightness. I can clearly see the green tint on the grey background of XDA app while typing this. LOL.
Same here :
The picture is supposed to be solid green. Dc diming is turned off.
This is very annoying :/

The only solution for me is to only use the phone during daytime and hope the problem will not get worse.
I will never buy again a phone without warranty.

I used MIUI 11 and MIUI 12 without seeing a difference. I don't think there will ever be a software fix other than rising minimum brightness
I can confirm that more than 10 people are having this issue. Can somebody report it to Poco and have it looked?
