If i root the device wtihout flashing a custom rom will there be anything major in terms of functionality that will be lost? Will I still be able to pair with devices such as the SPen, galaxy buds, galaxy watch (in the future), I've seen threads talking about being able to patch the watch, but nothing else. I am aware that apps like SPay and secure vault will not work and I know about magisk hide and zygisk. Also, is it true that HD streaming on apps such as Netflix is not possible with root? (not a dealbreaker). I want to root the device, I've used it for 3-2 months but I want to know if there is anything major that would sway me from doing so.
The main thing you will lose is any app that needs the built-in security like some banking apps including Samsung Pay. I think I read that it will break the Samsung health apps too. What is the reason for root if you are not loading a custom ROM?

On some devices, you do. You get L3 widevine instead of L1 (which enables FHD content on streaming services). Some devices don't suffer this, however. It's hard to say which do.
You can bypass some stuff like Samsung Health and Galaxy Wearable by installing modded apps, you'll lose Samsung Pass and Pay permanently. You can bypass Secure Folder with a few modifications, though you would need a little technical know-how.

So this is the first time I've witness a problem like this, where I want to download an app (Fire Emblem: Heroes), but the Play Store does not show it on my phone! When I search it on my computer it says it's not compatible with my devices. I figured it was due to root, so I unrooted a device that I soft rooted and it worked. I can now play on that device. However, my main device, my phone, is much more deeply rooted. So, is there a documented issue with apps not appearing on the play store due to root and is there any way to circumvent this? I want to avoid downloading apks from third party websites preferably, but the app itself has root detection on it as well once you DO install it! But basically, I don't want to miss out on a potentially good app because of some silly root check. If I don't see it I may never know about it!
Same problem here. So you are you sure that before the unroot the game wasn't working on your other phone? I never heard of apps not appearing in store due to root, usually you can download the app and then the ban happen as soon as you run it.
I'm on Galaxy S7 rooted android 6 tried on Nougat too but no luck. Also tried on Galaxy S4 and also i saw in the compatibily list also my old Lg G2 is not compatible, both are rooted too. I remember i was able to pre register too so now i'm pretty mad i can't play it since i'm a fan of the series.
Yeah, I'm sure. At first I was super confused. Then I tried using someone else's phone, and it not only showed up, but it showed an advertisement for the game on the front page! As soon as I unrooted my device, the app showed up on the front page of the play store and was searchable as well. Now when I search for the game on my computer it says "Some devices not compatible with this game" and it only shows my rooted phone as not being compatible. I agree with you that this is pretty bizarre. I didn't know Google Play went through that kind of effort detecting root, especially since they have apps that are root only. So the question now is, how do you hide root from Google Play?
How do you unroot your phone? I used the option on supersu to unroot but still the game says is not compatible.

I tried Magisk but still no luck.Maybe there are some others remainings files on my phone that are detected or maybe i simply did something wrong i don't know.
I guess that's it, i'm not going to remove my root, really Nintendo surprise even on mobile with their retarded politics, i would have probably spended some money on the game only to support it like i did with other games i liked.
I removed root AND xposed. Maybe if you have xposed it still detects it. My unroot method was just using the superSU removal option. But like I said, my root was pretty light, I just rooted to uninstall a few stock verizon apps. If you have a rom with root embedded in it, you might not be able to unroot without reinstalling a new ROM. I understand Nintendo wanting to block rooted users since rooting is how you get hacks for your paid apps. However, they're isolating a pretty large base of players by doing that and it's probably not a good business decision. They're losing out more on the majority of people that don't risk installing said hacks on their phone. Those kind of hacks don't even break the game either, which makes it even more asinine. It would just be some guy ruining the game for himself by removing the limitation of orbs or experience.
P.S. It is a pretty good game and I'm fully enjoying myself with it. I might recommend getting a cheap $150 tablet to play it if you can't unroot.

I'm a veteran user of jailbroken iPhones, and have just switched over to Android after buying a Galaxy S8+.
I used tweaks called YouTube++ and Instagram++ on my iPhone, and I have a hard time seeing myself living without similar tweaks on Android. What's most important is to be able to block ads and allow background play on YouTube, and being able to download pictures and videos from Instagram.
Is it possible to do this on Android, if yes, how do I go about fixing it?
Will I need to root my phone? Will I lose my warranty? What are the pros and cons of rooting?

For instagram you can install Xinsta for xposed, and for youtube you can get this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-iytbp-injected-youtube-background-t3560900 there is a root and a non root version, the bad thing about the non root version is that you can't use the fullscreen-feature for galaxy s8.
Rooting will make you lose warranty probably, but some countries have protection against it. You can do many things on android without root though, much more than on iOS so it's not so often needed.

For instance the thread on managing ads with dns rather than adaway (which required root). Mine was the sheer customizability. Root allows so many different changes from just uninstalling system apps (*cough* Netflix *cough*) to changing the operating system.
In regards to uninstalling system apps, the note 4 group had an adb script that was probably pulled from somewhere else, that permanently disabled all the bloatware. Does anyone have anything like that for the A71?

I am just worried and want to know after rooting any of my devices, leads to risks in making any types of payments. Be it NFC or via any banking apps.
Also, not only payments, but any user data and access to system files related to security.
Does the above still applies after an un-root is done?

To sum up. Depends how much security you remove and how you allow the root software that gets installed, admin privileges. Just don't have the prompt on auto, so then you can allow app privileges manually.
I just got an S22 Ultra, and I'm really missing the Now Playing feature from my Pixel (along with several others, but this is the biggest one). I'd like to try and install the Ambient Music Mod, which looks like it might be the only option for this, but it requires both Magisk and Xposed according to their git. I don't really want to root my new phone. I sometimes have had bad luck with that in the past. Will Magisk and Xposed either root my phone or require root? Or are they just tools that go on the phone so that other tools can be installed?

I start root Android from S2 and I finish to note 9, I have a lot phones different Android and iPhone, but now on s22 I stop root. Why? Because you just lost a lot time for play on root.... and possible happening, when you go shopping and You card it's home... you just can't pay , just because one simple update your phone it's detected rooted. So no time for playing this thing's.
