I posted about this before but found the screenshot I took when I changed my storage for videos to my SD card. There were only videos/photos on one day that became corrupted literally in front of my eyes. My question... where can I find the locations mentioned in this screenshot? It's like only part of the data was saved on the SD card... all Metadata missing and videos show all binary zeroes... yet the size is still reflected on the file....

Usually it is /storage/.../DCIM/... on either location, isn't it?
Does "details" of the video/picture (within gallery) tell you anything useful?

I'll try anything! Thank you! I tried several programs to restore based on data from other videos recorded and nothing worked so far.

No luck!
Forget it, it's lost for good. SD Cards are crap. Always. Not to mention inadequate filesystems.
Simply don't rely on them but for the future: Make sure to have a proper backup, for example:

I don't know if there is a thread already for this. Can anyone list the apps and bloatware that are safe to freeze using titanium backup on the stock rom...

Download Scott's clean Rom, much easier then doing it yourself. Completely stock, debloated, tweaked, and nice mods if you want them.

Thank you
Additional debloat!
A helpful tool I use to clear up space and make the system faster is an app called "DiskView", downloadable free from Play Store. It analyzes all partitions and lists directories/files and a percentage bar of how much space they're taking. With this I found a bunch of instructional how-to videos in the system/media/video/GuidedTour folder. Also, taking up some space are the hidden Voice Recognition language packs under /system/VODB. Delete all the language code folders you don't want. Also, this using like 10MB but also a privacy concern, there was a face recognition database under /system/lib. If you don't use the preloaded Swype keyboard, even after you uninstalled it, there's an extra database under /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so. Delete.
If you have a Galaxy Note, it might be worth noting that the S Note templates that you could never seem to delete can now be removed permanently. They actually use up a lot of space. First, delete the templates from your usual S Note folder on your SD card, obviously. Then navigate to /system/preload and /system/preloaddata and delete everything related to S Note in there. For me there was nothing other than S Note stuff. Should be the templates in one and a database in the other. Once you reboot, they'll never come back!
Enjoy!

Hello XDA.
This issue has been bothering me for a while now. When I go to the Play Store hit the menu button and go to "my apps", there sometimes a few apps that show up that I never downloaded.

These apps show up every now and then as downloaded. I don't speak Russian, thus, I don't download apps that are in Russian. I was wondering if maybe someone uses my account, and is downloading apps to their device, or if this is an issue with the Play Store...? I use a very secure password, it literally is a bunch of random numbers, letters, and symbols. Any help with resolving or explaining the issue would be appreciated!

Change your pw and see if it does it again?
It could be a bad app that you installed is downloading other apps by itself?

My first thought. The apps never appear on my phone though. Some kind of botnet then? A bad app downloads another app to use your account information to download and rate it, then un install it? Those other apps don't have any reviews that involve words, and they all have 10,000+ downloads with 4-5 star ratings. Seems suspicious to me.

You've probably just solved it yourself. The tricky part comes now when you have to figure out what app did it.

I don't know if it was this app or CM10.1 messing up, bu tright after installing this app and trying to add it to the home screen (and it said no room was available because I missed the folder), every app force closed, then pretty much all of my apps data was erased. I mean for every app.
I had to update google play services after rebooting too.

Yes, we'll update this in the next version.
I've tried searching for a thread concerning my question but couldn't find one. I'm really surprised nobody brought this up. Or my searching skills are really messed up... in which case, I excuse myself.
What I want to do is to make some room in my sdcard by automatically uploading pictures, videos and files (if possible) to my Google Drive (or any other Cloud Storage Service) and delete them locally. Basically, making my cloud drive a truly virtual drive.
Has anyone tried/achieved such a thing?
Thanks.

You're asking for functionality that is very hard to be implemented, even tho it sounds simple.
Basically there are no real viable ways to verify if a given file is not corrupted when uploaded to the cloud. At least not in a way that won't be creating singe huge overhead.
Anyway, if you find something that works, let us know, I'm also interested in such app/script/whatever.

I think I've partially achieved the goal by using DropBox. Unlike Google Drive, files aren't deleted from the cloud when they are deleted locally. But I have to manually delete files from the phone, since I haven't found a way to delete on upload. And, thought, this just works for pictures and videos, not for other files, that would have to be uploaded manually too.
I know that even when sounding simple it's not that easy to accomplish... but I believe Google made the Moto G with such a small storage capacity (to reduce costs too, I understand) to be complete with cloud storage, so...
Hello guys,
can you please try something for me? Preferrably on Pixel 4a, yet others should work too.
Can you update the Google Recorder to the last version, record something, go to App Info, Disable the app, restart phone, enable the app again and see if your recording is still there or whether it got deleted?
My Google Recorder stopped responding (presumably after the last update). I cannot start the app and I need to save my files. I will be grateful for your help.
More info about my problem to be found here:
Google Recorder crashes and cannot start, I have more than 1GB of recordings I cannot lose, help - Google Pixel Community
Something more about the recorder (not from me)

//https://www.reddit.com/r/pixel_phones/comments/hc7w4h/cant_find_my_google_recorder_files_after/
I cannot root without losing data. Maybe someone can also advice me how to get the files using the "ADB commands"?
Thanks in advance for any tips
The location of the recordings is here on a pixel 4a:

Hello John, thanks for your reply, yet this folder not accessible without ROOT. That is the issue and the whole reason why I have this problem. Unless you have some other way / app which can access it. For me, the folder is completely hidden.
Edit: Root browser by JRummy Apps can view the recorder folder in data\data,
but it does not see any files folder or any files inside (as I am not rooted and rooting would wipe the device).
But apparently there is a parent "Mount Point" of /dev/block/dm-1", so root browser may not be able to view that location.
Without root, it will be hard to get those files.
If this crashing of recorder happened with the latest update, then maybe other users are having the same problem, so google will fix it and hopefully it will start working again in the next version.
The only other thought I have is to find the APK of the previous working version, unpack it, make the version number one higher then the "bad" verison of recorder, repack and sign. Then you would be able to install it and it should see your files again.
Interesting, thanks. I will try that trick with modifying the version number, if the next recorder update won't fix the problem.
Hello good people. The 23/06/2021 Google Recorder update fixed my issue and I now succeeded in backing up my offline-saved recordings. This made me to choose other app to use for recording sound though. Beware as well!
