De-Bloat list for stock rom - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I don't know if there is a thread already for this. Can anyone list the apps and bloatware that are safe to freeze using titanium backup on the stock rom...

Download Scott's clean Rom, much easier then doing it yourself. Completely stock, debloated, tweaked, and nice mods if you want them.

Additional debloat!
A helpful tool I use to clear up space and make the system faster is an app called "DiskView", downloadable free from Play Store. It analyzes all partitions and lists directories/files and a percentage bar of how much space they're taking. With this I found a bunch of instructional how-to videos in the system/media/video/GuidedTour folder. Also, taking up some space are the hidden Voice Recognition language packs under /system/VODB. Delete all the language code folders you don't want. Also, this using like 10MB but also a privacy concern, there was a face recognition database under /system/lib. If you don't use the preloaded Swype keyboard, even after you uninstalled it, there's an extra database under /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so. Delete.
If you have a Galaxy Note, it might be worth noting that the S Note templates that you could never seem to delete can now be removed permanently. They actually use up a lot of space. First, delete the templates from your usual S Note folder on your SD card, obviously. Then navigate to /system/preload and /system/preloaddata and delete everything related to S Note in there. For me there was nothing other than S Note stuff. Should be the templates in one and a database in the other. Once you reboot, they'll never come back!
Enjoy!

Purely Out of Boredom - Twitverted (Uber-lame)

So, I was a little bored (too much time on my hands) and I hate the color scheme of twitter. Too baby-bluish and I've got a son on the way (just a couple months out), so I'm getting a little baby blued out. That said, I decided to waste some time inverting all of the .png's in the apk. Not the greatest of "mods", but I thought that if I found it amusing, somebody else might as well.
Oh, and I changed the Launcher icon to one from Dinik's HD2 collection here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591248&highlight=dinik
Notes:
1) I, nor XDA, am not responsible if this trashes your device.
2) The install bat places the file in /system/app, rather than /data/app. My main reason for doing this is strictly a personal preference, as I have been using Ninjamorph (thanks Stericson!) to customize all of my apps and it doesn't yet read from /data/app yet. . . so I've been placing everything into /system. lol
Instructions:
1) Extract the contents of the zip file (Winrar, Winzip, 7Zip, WinAce. . . does WinAce even exist anymore?)
2) Run Twitverted Install.bat
2a)The install bat file will automatically delete the twitter app, if you already had it installed, prior to installing this one.
3) If you don't like it, just run the removal bat and then reinstall Twitter via the market.
Nice, I'm not a big user of twitter but this looks pretty sweet, good job

I already have made a lot of build.prop tweaks to my phone. can I be sure that this won't remove those changes I've made in other areas? some apps seem to completely rewrite build.prop. if you can just explain what kind of values are changed, maybe I can do it myself?
ditto. I use V6 supercharger and that changes build prop in all sorts of ways. How would this effect my settings?
Also if u tweak it out how do u know it install? Cuz mine doesn't say at all?

Supercharger should be unaffectedby these tweaks but if you have the turbocharger installed it may cause a problem for you.

I have a similar application on here that doesn't completely rewrite.

Hey, i have a similar application that doesn't remove your other prop tweaks. If you unselect an option in the app, it will remove the corresponding prop.

Apps I didn't download show up in Play Store.

Hello XDA.
This issue has been bothering me for a while now. When I go to the Play Store hit the menu button and go to "my apps", there sometimes a few apps that show up that I never downloaded.

These apps show up every now and then as downloaded. I don't speak Russian, thus, I don't download apps that are in Russian. I was wondering if maybe someone uses my account, and is downloading apps to their device, or if this is an issue with the Play Store...? I use a very secure password, it literally is a bunch of random numbers, letters, and symbols. Any help with resolving or explaining the issue would be appreciated!

Change your pw and see if it does it again?
It could be a bad app that you installed is downloading other apps by itself?

My first thought. The apps never appear on my phone though. Some kind of botnet then? A bad app downloads another app to use your account information to download and rate it, then un install it? Those other apps don't have any reviews that involve words, and they all have 10,000+ downloads with 4-5 star ratings. Seems suspicious to me.

You've probably just solved it yourself. The tricky part comes now when you have to figure out what app did it.

[APP] Hotstrings - NEEDS testers or should I continue making this?

OK so this is a sort of experimental app that needs some testers. It's not in play yet but the apk is attached to the bottom of the OP. I'm just curious how many people would find something like this useful and wonder if I should carry on making it or just abandon it. Basically the app works as a sort of shortcut for frequently typed phrases or whatever that you may constantly type out that you may not want to. So you create a keyword and a string of text associated with that keyword. You can now cycle through keywords via the widget or the app itself and click on the keyword and have the associated text copied to clipboard for easy pasting wherever you may want
widget usage:
- Click left/right arrows to cycle database
- Click keyword/string to copy to clipboard

That link will give you an idea of what they are. I think what needs to happen for this to be worthwhile is a needs a custom kb to work with since you are unable to interact with these keywords in other apps(hence the clipboard). With a keyboard I could have a keyword for a really long bit of a text and I just type the keyword out and it will autoreplace with the associating string saving you time.

Basically, you create short texts that expand to the full phrase/sentence you like. The only similar app I found was https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.agileapps.autocorrecteditor&feature=search_result which has fairly negative reviews and still has 500-1000 downloads. I expect this is about the size of audience the hotstrings app would get, perhaps slightly more if it is rated more positively.
Hi I know this is old but I'm looking for something like this! I had this option on my iPhone way back when, it's the only thing I miss about it. I use the Swype keyboard so I don't know if that will conflict with your app but it's worth a shot! The link seems to be down, is there any way I could get this apk to try out?

Multiple App Install in Google Play Store...

I just stumbled upon a nifty little feature that I don't remember seeing mentioned anywhere before. At first, I thought it was an Android "L" developer preview feature, but low & behold, I just tried it on my HTC One & sure enough it is live there as well.
At any rate, I am curious when Google implemented this feature? I don't know if it was in one of the many GMS/Play Store updates, or if it has been there all this time & I just missed it somehow.
Give it a try, if you haven't. Just go into apps, select the "all apps" tab & long press any app that is not installed already. It will put the device into multiple selection mode, where you can select & install multiple applications much easier than selecting individual apps & pressing install for each one. Sure, it's not as easy as using TB or another backup utility, but for those of us that are bumping between KK & Android "L", where most system & data restore apps don't work yet due to context changes, it definitely saves a little time.
I am interested to know if you can do this on any JB or ICS device too. Try it out & let me know.

I think it was implemented some updates ago, not many but. 2-3 back I think.
It doesn't matters what OS version you have, Play Store and Services go on their own way so I think anyone can get it.
Greetings!
I've discovred this when i changed my nexus mid-may.
