Purely Out of Boredom - Twitverted (Uber-lame) - Nexus One Themes and Apps

So, I was a little bored (too much time on my hands) and I hate the color scheme of twitter. Too baby-bluish and I've got a son on the way (just a couple months out), so I'm getting a little baby blued out. That said, I decided to waste some time inverting all of the .png's in the apk. Not the greatest of "mods", but I thought that if I found it amusing, somebody else might as well.
Oh, and I changed the Launcher icon to one from Dinik's HD2 collection here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591248&highlight=dinik
Notes:
1) I, nor XDA, am not responsible if this trashes your device.
2) The install bat places the file in /system/app, rather than /data/app. My main reason for doing this is strictly a personal preference, as I have been using Ninjamorph (thanks Stericson!) to customize all of my apps and it doesn't yet read from /data/app yet. . . so I've been placing everything into /system. lol
Instructions:
1) Extract the contents of the zip file (Winrar, Winzip, 7Zip, WinAce. . . does WinAce even exist anymore?)
2) Run Twitverted Install.bat
2a)The install bat file will automatically delete the twitter app, if you already had it installed, prior to installing this one.
3) If you don't like it, just run the removal bat and then reinstall Twitter via the market.

Nice, I'm not a big user of twitter but this looks pretty sweet, good job

not a bad idea looks like poop though lol

3 Android Bootscreens

All of these bootscreen's zips are flashable. Just put them on your SD card and flash them to use. You may have to delete (make sure to back it up) HTC's "bootanimation.zip" from your phone to get a new bootanimation. It is located in "system/media/".
View attachment OutsideDroidBoot.zip
This bootscreen doesn't repeat like in the picture below. After the animation below is completed, the clouds still move and the sun still shines but the grass doesn't grow again and the droid doesn't flip again.

With this boot animation, what you see is what you get.
View attachment SkateBoot.zip
Like the one above, what you see is what you get. Also, I did not make the images of the android on a skateboard, I found them on Google. I simply put them into the animation.
I like them!

I could try! I'll pm you when I'm done and you can tell me whether or not you like it. I don't think I'll finish today though.

No problem, i'm off to bed now anyways =] Can't wait to see when its done.
I think the skateboard one needs to be a 100th of a ms faster and the spiral one needs something in the middle. Otherwise I like em. I like that people are making bootscreens. Keep it up!

Can someone tell me what notification bar icon is...

... the one that shows after an app has been installed from the market succesfully. I believe stock shows it as a down arrow on top of a couple of lines. Some ROMs show the Android Market symbol. Myn's latest twoPOINTtwo has this big, plain oversized checkmark and I'm trying to replace it... but I cannot find out which one this is for the life of me...
Thanks for your help.

I don't remember the exact name of it, but its in the Vending.apk not the framework. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

, that is in framework-res.apk
Not the actual downloading arrow (or series of them) but the icon that remains there after the download has been completed and the app is installed.
I just found it, thanks to the above help. It's called "stat_sys_install_complete.png" and was located in "system\app\Vending\res\drawable-hdpi". I would never have looked there.
Related question - in cases like this, is there an easy way to just replace this single icon? Like maybe with root explorer or does it require a full out replacement in the APK package and complete reflash? I really don't feel like reflashing the entire ROM just for a few changes like this and would rather just make a mental note to repackage future ROMs.
Ninjamorph should do it

Banner in notification bar.

Is there any way that you could change the U.S. Cellular banner in the notification bar to what you want? Cause my buddy has an iPhone and he can change the att in his to whatever he wants and i was wondering if we could too.

hehe big help you are.
With iPhones that is actually just stored in a .plist file which is the equivalent of our .xml files. For them you can simply open the plist file with a file browser if you're jailbroken, and type whatever you want for that and literally any other text thing. (Even things like when you're deleting an app, you can make the popup ask you if you want to "get rid of this" and the buttons can say "hell yeah" or "oops" and every other text that you ever see on an iphone can be changed.)
With us, it isn't that simple. I don't think. I haven't looked inside our xmls enough, the filesystem is mildly confusing after being with iPhones for so long.

So it is possible then? Well someone should tell me what file to change so i can do that

For a second time, yes it is.
...I never said I knew off the top of my head how to do it, but it is possible.
If i wasn't already looking into it I would have told you to use google. since I've already found some resources, here you go;

You decompile framework-res.apk with apktool, open the XML folder - edit the ERI.xml (change whatever values you want), recompile and push to your phone, reboot and it will say what you want. It also changes the Network listed in about phone. (read through my porting guide for more detail)
EX. I made mine say Cyanogen

De-Bloat list for stock rom

I don't know if there is a thread already for this. Can anyone list the apps and bloatware that are safe to freeze using titanium backup on the stock rom...

Download Scott's clean Rom, much easier then doing it yourself. Completely stock, debloated, tweaked, and nice mods if you want them.

Thank you
Additional debloat!
A helpful tool I use to clear up space and make the system faster is an app called "DiskView", downloadable free from Play Store. It analyzes all partitions and lists directories/files and a percentage bar of how much space they're taking. With this I found a bunch of instructional how-to videos in the system/media/video/GuidedTour folder. Also, taking up some space are the hidden Voice Recognition language packs under /system/VODB. Delete all the language code folders you don't want. Also, this using like 10MB but also a privacy concern, there was a face recognition database under /system/lib. If you don't use the preloaded Swype keyboard, even after you uninstalled it, there's an extra database under /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so. Delete.
If you have a Galaxy Note, it might be worth noting that the S Note templates that you could never seem to delete can now be removed permanently. They actually use up a lot of space. First, delete the templates from your usual S Note folder on your SD card, obviously. Then navigate to /system/preload and /system/preloaddata and delete everything related to S Note in there. For me there was nothing other than S Note stuff. Should be the templates in one and a database in the other. Once you reboot, they'll never come back!
Enjoy!
<<< Please say thanks if I was of help! I am new to XDA! :good:
