Question S22 Ultra Battery life - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

I got the unlocked S22ultra and I get only 5hrs SOT. For a 5000mAH battery that's very bad compared to iPhone 13 pro max. Does anyone has any suggestions ? Do you have any resolutions? Please don't tell me to turn off features /apps to get good battery.

Exynos versión?

debloated?

Hey everyone, figure i start a thread on apps/etc that can be safely disabled, so that we can dial on on removing needless junk from our phones. I am currently running a Snapdragon S22 Ultra, SM-S908U 512GB (AT&T variant) so my list may vary...

Turn off features/apps to get good battery.

You will never get close to the 13 pro max SOT no matter how much you debloat, turn off features/ apps or any other gimmicks one can think off. The 13 pro max is in a whole different league.

Two things that worked for me on Snap Dragon is use FHD Resolution instead of WQHD and turn off mobile data when your on a WIFI network and don't need it. 5G Cellular seems put a lot of drain on the battery. When I am at home I have 5G WIFI so I just turn mobile off.

Try this workaround without disabling anything: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-news-discussion-thread.4399385/post-86730157

but S22 Ultra has bigger and brighter display so can't really compare to IP13PM..

Don't compare to iCrap. It's easy for them to optimize their phones due to their jailed garden approach.

SOC lottery?

So it seems like there is so much variation in battery performance for the S7 (more than other phones) and I was wondering if I just got bad luck with my chip. I struggle to get 4 hrs SOT and that's with social media, YouTube, text, email, etc. Mostly WiFi and no gaming or Google maps. I understand SD820 gets crap battery compared to exynos, but I remember MKBHD's review saying he typically got 5 hrs SOT

Battery life is one of those things that is going to be quite different for everyone. There really isn't any more variation with this phone than others - everyone uses their phone differently, and will easily get different results.

Try using a dark or black theme, get Disabler Pro and check what people are disabling depending on your needs, get Greenify and setup agr. doze, I don't use auto brightness but change to my liking if I need, also disable wifi search, these are few I can think of right now but with my usage I get between 6.30-9 hours SOT and 1 to 2 days, depending on the tasks I'm performing. I get twice the battery time of my s6 edge with same usage. I'm on Tmob s7 930 snapdragon 820.

Thanks, but my battery results are with all of those applied already. Maybe Tmobile variant just performs better. I've heard they had an update that resolved the android OS and android system bug. Hopefully verizon pushed a fix but I doubt it

Yes, as well as performance and other issues, one of my gs7 works flawlessly one i had to replace for several major issues, the last works decent but has issues with lag, touch sensitivity and battery life

N985F/DS exynos version.

So I am one of the unlucky ones on the planet that has an exynos version and worst of all its the N985F/DS version (non 5G)
It's the same as the N986B while this had 5G.
I see roms and kernels for the N986... Can I still use those for mine?
Not having 5G may be a blessing; no parasitic battery drain. I wouldn't sweat that at all.
If still running on Android 10, stay with that version.
Stock Samsung's can run very well and the IU on Samsung's is excellent. You a package disabler to selectively weed out bloatware. If you optimize it, it should run great.
If not, plan B...
I have the HK Snapdragon version and the above still applies.
Run package disabler to kill unwanted apps, set screen res to FHD+ & 60hz.
5g kills the battery so it's a bonus your handset doesn't support it.
My battery life is absolutely amazing, but obviously the Exynos will not be as good.

What's your SOT for browser, and vids; battery % per hr? If you know it.
Not sure about SOT but my average daily usage over the past 7 days is 24%. Battery easily lasts 3 days. And that's with a Galaxy Watch 3 connected as well.
N10+Snapdragon running on P*
Browser SOT 7-8%@hr
Online vids 9-11%
At night with cell/internet active, tap on AOD >.5%@hr
I limit brightness to 50% or less. Google play Services, Playstore are disabled unless needed. Bt almost always on. Wifi and all cloud disabled.
I use Accubattery history and Gallay battery tracker to monitor usage.
I was curious how the N20U was doing.
Was considering getting a N20U.
What OS version are you running?
*Got a new N10+Snapdragon/Q recently, still testing it. It may have slightly better battery stats, not sure. Set up is near identical. The Notes are a lot of fun...
Guys. Much appreciative of your responses but I was asking more in the matter of flashing roms for the N986B on my N985F/DS and whether that's possible or not without bricking.
Hello,
I got the same issue, May I ask? How to fix it?

Question S22 Ultra heat?

I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and it was cold as ice.
I have both versions of S22 Ultra, Exy and Snap and they are both pretty much hotter when I use them.
Any way to have them cool and cold?
Thanks in advance

changing the screen resolution from wqhd+ to fhd+ or hd+ will help, but of course your sacrificing quality

How hot do they get? What are you doing when they get hot? CPU/GPU intensive tasks like gaming or photo/video editing will cause it to heat up. Those types of tasks require more power from the battery. That extra power requirement causes the battery to produce more heat.
If you are not doing CPU/GPU intensive tasks, it is possible an app is the culprit. You can go into Battery and device care (Settings -> Battery and device care -> Battery), click on the graph and you can see what apps are drawing the most power. There are plenty of apps out there that are needless power hogs.
It is also not a fair comparison between your previous Z Fold 3 and your current S22 Ultras.
Same issue with my mobile s22 sd. My device gets hot instantly when using camera.
Go to the Galaxy store, and get Samsung Guardians, enable Thermal Guardian and you can choose to throttle the system when the temperature raises, also manages the 5G antenna, the Refresh rate and more.

That is not normal. I have the SD version and it hasn't gotten hot, for any reason. What other apps are you running? Many of them are slapdash and use more CPU and battery than needed. If one of those is running in the background, it could cause a heating problem when you use the camera, since the camera can be CPU/GPU intensive.

Question why one ui is so suck?

i m very bad feeling with my s22 ultra.i change from oneplus 7 pro.s22 ultra drain battery alot.i think the solution is UI.cus of ss does not provide good battery optimization system.dev need to try more than alot.
We hope that oneui5.0 is better... All phones with Android 12 have problems... Even pixels.
My s21u (exynos) Was fine on Android 11 oneui 3.0 and on 4.0 its slower and batterylife is worse. My s21u (snapdragon) on Android 12 is also not so nice...
Btw mate do you have exynos or snapdragon? Cause on Exynos software is even worse...

snapdragon version.s21 ultra is more better than s22 ultra in battery life for sure.they need to fix alot.in test mode we can't move back from task.if we use back button the screen is complete stop and need to wait nearly 30s.that is not good.after restart or power off, system is not active immediate and we need to wait.that is cus of ui.i dun need to wait a little in oneplus 7 pro.UI say a lot on android phone.
i have two 12/512 exynos s22 ultra no lag 50/55 hours battery and no other problem

Sorry you feel that way, maybe you should still use oneplus series.

Because... Samsung!
You may want to read this:

i receive weekly messages about app that are deactivated because not in use but if you open an app also for a minute the timer start again
every two or three days i run optimization and one or two app in background are closed

Question Real bad battery

Im having performance issues along with battery drainage. Snapdragon 8gen1
All those social media apps aren't helping... I never allow any on my devices for a number of reasons including security.
check this thread, also make sure you have 5G disabled (enable when you need it) but having %g enabled really hits battery, https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-battery-performance-stability-heat.4376755/ I used much of the stuff on this thread and I'm getting 8 to 10 hrs SoT and 2 to 3 days between charges.
while you using this trash apps like FB, ingram, twitter, snapchat which are wakes-up your modem every 3 seconds to download useless update what your friends eat in restorants you will continue getting that bad battery time...
use ADB APP control app and remove all preinstalled apps which is spying on your phone

That will help; how much so be interesting to know. However I don't think that's the only cause of the excessive power consumption.
Social media apps suck battery on any phone they are on... especially if using 5G rather than 4G as Jostian pointed out.
Also display brightness really matters too. 30-40% is best, use manual brightness control.

The really funny part is my N10+ gets better SOT than both of those. I use the hell out of 4G.
You are what you load nonetheless still pertains to your current dilemma. The S22U's hardware is more optimized for gaming it seems. Ironically Samsung deliberately throttle this at first.
High refresh rates are no big deal as far as I'm concerned but doubt that 60hz would even yield a 10% power savings, but you don't know until you try. Using the highest resolution also will eat another couple percent.
Lol, I keep Google play Services disabled most times for an extra 2%@SOT.

Hello Blackhawk. I wonder if it makes a lot of difference between 30-40% manually and auto brightness. Did you compare that? Is it the sensor that makes the difference in battery usage when using auto brightness?

Auto brightness doesn't know how bright you need it to be. Many times it's too bright and that isn't beneficial for your retinas or battery life.
