I had to do a factory reset on my phone, and behold I started to get a new update.
I checked and found it is just for Sep security updates. I have not personally noticed any changes.
Changelog details of the update build N920VVRS3BPI1
Features and or Enhancements
September Security Patch
Resolved known issues
Performance enhancements
Not a lot of help on what performance enhancements nor known issues.
Anyway, my $.02.

I'm surprised you said you don't see any improvement in performance because I certainly did.. I'm even getting between 8 and 11 hours of SOT whereas before I was only getting around 4 to 6 so it literally doubled it.. It may also be because I've got a lot of things disabled and I did an entire clean installation of the new firmware because I factory reset right after flashing it and then disabled/ removed a lot of junk and so far it's working better than any of the other ones I've tried!!
I happened to factory reset just before I knew of any new update. Now that I have the update, should I do it again?

Yes, it is always best to reset after a update.
Have used the update for a couple days now without doing a reset and so far it is better than the last update with a reset with performance and battery life, very impressive. I didn't disable any services/packages, only the disabling of apps which the UI allows by dragging/dropping from the app drawer since my last reset. This helps immensely with the ability to do dirty updates and staying at near peak performance, just an FYI.
May do a full reset this weekend just to be able to start fresh and test, but may not if the current state of my phone stays the same.

Yes when I said "clean installation" I meant factory reset. Sorry about that. I did the factory reset after I installed the update. Don't do it before that, it's pointless.

Thank you. You answered the question I meant to ask which was before or after the update. My phone could use a fresh start anyway. Thanks again.

When you guys reset, do you use the most recent copy or install from scratch? I see 3 choices, last 3 days, last 30 days, or install a fresh copy. I used the last 3 days choice.
All it does is install your apps so you don't have to pick them out once at a time.
Thanks

I start from scratch.. I don't let it install anything unless I manually tap it to do it so before I turn on my WiFi I set the Google play store and the Galaxy apps to not auto update so it doesn't start updating everything right away.

Well, since I just did it, I'll see how it goes. But I always turn off auto update on anything. I like to see the choices.
Thanks

You know, I think its possible to go way overboard on the whole reset after every update thing. Remember that now that Samsung is pushing the monthly Android security patches on a more or less consistent basis, you are going to be getting an update almost every month. Do you really want to be resetting that often? Up to you but that's not for me. I did do a reset when it went from 5.x to 6.x but I don't reset just for the monthly updates. I haven't had any problems either. I may do a "just because" reset after six months or so, but I think if you are doing this for every single update its going to get old really fast.

If you know what you're doing, and which backup apps to use, guess what? It takes less than 5 minutes to restore all of your stuff after a full reset..

Can you elaborate for the people that it takes longer than 5-10 minutes to re-setup? Are you using a backup program (which one) to use keep your data settings? I know some programs will allow you to backup the data/settings so you don't have to start from scratch but not all allow you to do this. I'm just throwing this out there. I don't need it because I like to reset mine back up... Makes it feel as I have a new phone.
anyone have the Tar Ball for this update? I have a Note 5 in an endless bootloop and SamMobile takes more than two hours to down load. The bootloop is so bad that you cannot get into recovery, the hardware power down does not allow factory reset or power off and the only one that seems to work is to odin the clean software.
Thanks.

I'd suggest you go with this one then because the BPJ3 has a battery draining issue and this new update after that one fixes it..

Does anyone else know how to solve this ?
Have you got any more info? When did it start? App you installed recently that might be responsible? Tried the usual restart/clear cache/factory reset?

I tried to do a factory reset but the lag still occured. When is Google going to release the next update ? The 1st of next month ?
Since the first week of owning (got in on the Verizon pre-orders), my pixel 2 will occasionally stall. It pauses for a few seconds and then resumes. Once or twice I get a system ui has stopped message, but typically not. It is most noticeable when scrolling, either in the news feed or Google Now or my texting app. But I've seen it while toggling a setting in the notification shade.
Updating to the Dec and then January update didn't help it. Unlocking 3 wks ago and installing a new kernel didn't help.
Is this similar to what you've experienced?

Yes and I also find the camera to be very unstable. For example, when I take a picture and tried to zoom in, it doesn't do anything. I have to double tap and then I am able to pinch the screen
All this sounds extremely uncharacteristic if this is a stock / unrooted Pixel 2.
I've noticed that facebook and facebook messenger not only consume tons of battery, but they are usually the culprits of hard stalls.
if it persists after the factory reset, I'd try to reflash a stock image if you know how to do this. Factory reset wipes everything and starts from scratch from the stock firmware, either that or just hang tight as the next update is coming soon for Feb. I'd reflash the new Feb image. Probably just a bug. Mine lately has also been tripping out, not lagging, but just acting random like brightness toggling, etc......... they appear to be bugs.

Not sure generally it's within the first 5 days of the month. Personally I'd like to see it this Fri the 2nd but it could not be released until next Monday the 5th which seems more probable.

If it were a bug it would be happening to everyone. Very very doubtful that Feb update would do anything for you since it's not a common issue. Id do what has been suggested and reflash the stock image.
Step one apply factory image, step 2 factory reset. Don't install any apps and check for issues, if it still has issues exchange for a different device. If it has no issues, it is an app or mod.

Hello. I just received a new OTA, dav-703lc233b212_b229. I thought the b212 was the last one. Anybody else?
Received it this morning, haven't installed it yet.
anyone dares/wants to try out? /p8max
Last update f-uped my phone..
Seems to work
The last update broke all Google apps. Nonetheless I gave this one a go this morning. So far so good, android 6 with Dec 2018 update. An update that worked was long overdue!
Not noticed any differences yet, nothing appears to be broken
cool :good::highfive:
but whats better now? its not an android version upgrade,,just UI fixes? How could the phone go up on android os version?
Thanks!
Ditto.
Received, did not install, maybe never will, based on the last negative experience mentioned above/below.
but still interested if anyone installs it

Is the update still OK? It is nagging me to install but I don't want to degrade the phone like last time.
Until update to Android 10 my experience with Nokia 9 was ok. Unfortunately user experience after update is horrible. Performance hit is enormous, I have to restart my phone every day because my notification bar starts lagging, waking up animation is very choppy when I'm playing music or phone just starts to lag when I'm browsing Twitter. I just can't imagine how this update got pushed out in this state when CEO of HMD is using Nokia 9 as a daily driver. I hope they will fix all the performance issues in the next update because right now this phone is just piece of garbage

I agree. I thought I had got lucky with mine as apart from the fingerprint reader not working, (obviously), and the camera missing shots because it's so slow, (obviously), I didn't seem to be getting the other problems reported on here. But since Android 10, it's been freezing , stuttering, hanging up on calls etc. I've been having to reboot twice a day. Basically not fit for purpose in this day and age. Disappointing so I'll be looking for something else.
Same problems, until i choose hard reset
Facing the same glitches issues with wakeup and notification center animations, but overall the general performance and much better.
- Camera, quicker with better results!
- Speakers sound is significantly better
Hi all,
I do not mean to hijack this thread but I have still not received the android 10 update. Awful or not, I need those security patches. I have a nokia 9 pure view model TA1087. The build number of my phone is 00WW_4_27D_SP03
I am looking for a way to downgrade to pre A-10 if anyone has a way to do it.
Hard reset did not work.
Managed to get the phone stable again.

PL] You need to do a manual firmware update. See the tutorial on my blog at the following link.

It has been a while. Is it OK to upgrade back to A10 yet or is it still unstable? (Camera, lag when charging / unplugging Charger)

Android 13 has started rolling out for Xperia 5 III
Has anyone received it and installed it?
My device hasn't received it yet (XQ-BQ52, Greece)
Any comments would be appreciated.
I have nothing in Poland either.
Czechia here. I have A13 since yesterday. I did factory reset also. So far everything works fine and I have a feeling it is even faster.
what size is the update?
About 1Gig, I think 990MB

how is it? I updated this morning and and having persistent freezing. Even after doing a factory reset. It seems i can only use the phone for 5-10 mins then I have to reboot. it gets totally unresponsive.
Everything works for me without any problems.
Found my issue. somehow my SD card was causing the issue. I had to format the card, now everything works. Every running ok now and now Nova launcher is much smoother the bug swiping to home is now gone.
Is my phone the only that has 1 available color in:

hi i got the update a week before for my xperia 5 IV XQ-CQ54 (UK) with the size of 900mb..
Nothing major update over the android 12 except for few animations and some polished design in notifications, settings etc. But the major thing i felt is the smoothness, snappy than ever before. Also i felt the battery stand by is good over android 12 when in wifi .. And i always charge the device to 80 only not 100. and it gives a day full of juice with basic usage not heavy usage .. Overall i liked it very much ..
Here is a problem with A13.
My phone no longer pairs with Honor Band 6.
It seems to be a general problem with stockish Android 13 and Huawei accessories.
It affects Pixel Phones too.

No, same here.
Got it earlier this week (XQ-BQ52 UK). Looks like battery consumption is better. However, I use pattern lock screen, and now the dots are way farther from each other, so I have to make bigger movement with thumb. Couldn't find a way yet to make them closer (if possible at all)
I got Android 13 update on my Xperia 5 iii
It is much better now. Android 12 was a little bit off.
Now it's a great phone again.

I got Android 13 this morning. I don't play games, listen to music, or make phone calls. The apps and the camera seem to be working fine as is messaging. It seems snappier than Android 12.
Updated then wiped the phone.
It's fast, stable but I fail to find anything new that is relevant.
In my opinion, Material U is a gimmick and the rest of the Android features are "ok" but nothing crazy.
But hey, it's there and works well, so no need to stay on 12 if the update is available.
