Hi, does anybody have a legit/real life information regarding the real refresh rate in S22u?
Does it go down all the way to advertised 1 Hz? I've seen some scraps of info stating that it's only capable of 24 Hz.
*pre-order confusion intestifies*
refresh rate for s22u hasn't changed from originally advertised. for more info see

Thanks for the reply. I've seen the official, updated statements regarding S22/S22+ refresh rates but I was wondering whether someone is already using the S22u and can check/ report how it works IRL.
For instance IceUniverse Claimed it's only going down to 24 Hz - see below

I'm thinking the 1hz is reserved for special scenarios? idk how this all works but I highly doubt they'd lie about that. People were all saying Samsung lied and that it only goes down to 48hz... obviously that was fake news.

It sound really plausible that 1 Hz is used only in certain circumstances e.g. AOD. Which is why I decided to ask if some of early users/testers are here with us on the forum and could try it out
They said s21 ultra would go down to 10hz and it only went as low as 48hz so I’d expect same old bs

Apparently the hype train is derailing as first users report glitchy, buggy software, and disappointing performance including the refresh rate(24 Hzvs declared 1 Hz) and SOT.
The question tho is whether they can fix it with incoming updates.
At the moment I'm seriously considering cancelation of the pre-order and sticking to current n20u

Cancel it! If you are already trying to find fault with it then why bother.
The 1 HZ has to be a static screen so that means no notification bar, nothing that is being updated in the background. So a photo in full screen would probably reach the 1 Hz that you seem so hung up on.
You're talking about spending £1200 on a phone and the killer feature that it claims reaches 1 Hz.
Why do you seem so upset that he's upset. Let the man have his opinion
Ice universe claimed the s22+ can go down to 24hz not the rumored 48hz that was going around. Read the tweet you posted. He clearly says s22+. The ultra goes down to 1hz like Samsung says but no one has actually tested it to see what scenario makes it go down that far. There’s no reason to believe Samsung is lying until someone can prove they are lying.

This is not claiming the ultra goes to only 24hz. He says atleast the + can go to 24hz because of the previous rumor that it can only go down to 48hz. He’s just showing the ultra for comparison.
I've shown the tweet from IceUniverse, because it was one of the first legit source I could find. It's not that I'm obssed with the 1 Hz, it's just that I don't like to be lied. Since there's a discrepancy between the claims and actual state in S22/S22+ it was sheer curiousity to check how's like in S22U
So far first users' opinions are not favorable but perhaps upcoming updates might fix few of these juvenile problems.
It's a shame tho that Samsung releases "undercooked" product. As far as I am concerned I'd rather get it a bit later on but in flawless condition than trying to get rid of nasty first impressions.
Anyways, I'm patiently waiting for my device to come and try it out myself.

How is it under cooked? Do you have a source saying it doesn’t do what is claimed? They aren’t even the same phone spec wise. The ultra uses a completely different panel technology from the +. Seems like you are jumping to conclusions.

My device is scheduled to be shipped 25/02 and then I can add few words about stability, SOT and other reported problems. So far my opinions are only based on early users' posts.
@freebee269 You might be right, extrapolating from s22/s22+ is propably inappropriate in this case.

Got mine s22ultra 12/256 exy 2 days ago. As stated before by other users it goes down to 24 Hz and can be forced to 10 Hz by GalaxyHz.

There are Android Emulators that can force other games to run at 60 FPS even if they are 30-FPS locked, android system on Bluestacks CN version do it for all games, even for games like Ragnarok M SEA, Asphalt 9, and Fortnite who are well known to be locked at 30 FPS only.
The question is, can we do this on Oneplus? On an actual android device? What did Bluestacks CN do to their android OS that enables them to force-unlock those FPS-locked games?
Hilarious how they advertised 90hz so much when in reality, it's really an impractical feature. So is it worth getting $700 phone just for that sweet 90hz? ?

Im not an expert on BlueStacks as it sucked 5 years ago, but now it can use native harware as GPU it should have the access to cache and delivery you the info to your display using computer performance instead of mobile limited performance as before. Smartphones, Read Game info from ROM, forward it to RAM, process it in CPU, sendt GPU and Display.
BlueStacks Opens it's Virtualization in the computer RAM (it uses set CPU to operate itself as windows software but most RAM you set is to recreate the game or whole android OS) In the RAM it reads, creates, replicate (emulates) and Then fowards that copy to GPU with NEW instructions to render it at set Fps, then To display, provided that it is lighter than a normal windows app, it should do the job just well. It does more precessing but using superior hardware that helps it mimic the instructions and catapults it at a higher frame.
Never even claimed that fps is same as refresh rates. You cannot take advantage of 90hz if the app is capped at 60fps. And the reality is that 90% of apps on playestore are capped at 60fps and probably will never change any time soon. So was it worth removing headphone jack and expandable storage for that sweet 90hz? ??
I bet everyone here would prefer to be running the LG V2O instead...lol.
In case some of you guys do not know, Vsync is ALWAYS turned on in Android, so and Refresh Rate ADAPTS to FPS. in an uncapped state, for example, Vainglory, it can run at 120 Hz, it's also on 120 FPS SINCE VSYNC IS TURNED ON.

Lol unfortunately you're wrong there buddy. The difference is hugely noticeable; it's the only reason why ASUS/Razer "Gaming phones" have such a buttery looking display. Refresh rate=/=FPS. Refresh rates are an entirely different beast then FPS. Refresh rates function on a different aspect of our biological being- Fusion Flicker Threshold. 60hz is considered the most cost effective and pleasing refresh rate for most of humanity- and that's true. But, you're bound to notice the very slight flicker or jankiness or 60hz next to a higher refresh screen.

You cannot. high refresh rate on android is still a joke. No app developer would go out of their way to add higher refresh rates on their apps. There are few apps but they're 1% Stop treating your mobile devices as gaming devices. With the money you bought your 90hz-144hz phone with, you could've already bought a 240hz monitor with that lol.

Probably got a lemon
Now that the S22 Ultra is in users hands we're seeing big differences between what Samsung has touted and actual performance. Charging times aren't much better at 45W. 1 hour, 3 minutes at 45W for full charge compared to 1 hour, 6 minutes at 25W. Barely any advantage. Also, the S22 Ultra doesn't come with a charger. A 45W Charger will cost around $35 USD.
Even worse, tests reflect a big difference in battery life. The S22 Ultra drained after 8 hours, 50 minutes whereas the S21 Ultra lasted 11 hours, 25 minutes. The S22 Ultra may improve over time with an Adaptive Battery but if it doesn't improve much this is a big issue. The S22 Ultra is looking less and less like an upgrade.

Can you show us some video clips how slow and laggy it is?
I think we are forgetting the basics of threads like this one:
Which exact model are you using?
Software version, build number, etc..
That kinda helps other users see if they have similar issues on the same device or if it's limited to specific regions..
I been seeing some tests done on various sites showing that the S22 Ultra Exynos version is very similar to the s21 Ultra in terms of bench scores. Battery Life is worse than the S21 Ultra and of course the Snap Dragon version is faster as it has been in the past. But don't take my word for it do a search on Google. The results are there. Glad the U.S. version is the Snap Dragon. But still not fair to those getting stuck with the Exynos version. This was a big problem with the S20 Ultra Exynos version as well.
Keep in mind that Samsung launched a new 45w charger, the previous one had issues with thermals. The model number for the new one is EP-T4510XBEGGB.

Got my s22 ultra yesterday and I can confirm this. Ita super laggy not just in snapchay but everywhere i feel like, just closing apps can freeze it. I used 91% of my battery in 3,5 hours with 1080p on and half the brightness. Gets warm quikly. Snapchat is super laggy, but pics and videoes is good and it feels like im on the camera app, it uses ai for example when i take 100x pictures through snapchat to make it clearer. But my god it also feels like my screen is like 20fps, its so laggy..

No, the worst lag is inside of snapchat and I am not comfortable sharing that.
Outside of snapchat it is randomly dropping frames and going to the homescreen and switching apps are slow and quite hard sometimes. The gesturebar is moving and goes back to it's original location and I'm stuck in the app. The battery has gotten better with the adaptive battery learning but it's still not great, but not terrible either.

Why would I? I like the phone, had a S20 Ultra when it came out and switched to the iPhone 12 Pro last year, found out it aren't the right phone for me so I went back and pre-orderd the s22 ultra. I like the phone but I had a problem so I just went here to ask you guys. No need to be toxic.
Its been few months since relase and tons of updates, but still, no updates for the camera. How is that possible?
I remember, that S21 Ultra got plenty of camera updates straight out of the box. There was neither one camera update for our S22 Ultra.
Do you think its still coming or we should accept camera as it is ?
If you haven't noticed updates can and do break things. Do you have specific issues?
Invariably Samsung will issues updates for the cam. Unless there's a gross firmware issue(s) the improvements may be more superficial and likely not greatly increase performance.
The more that Samsung seems to emphasize their phone's cam performance, the greater the overall decline in their product. Sammy is drowning in their own hype marketing bs. 2 years straight of not hitting the mark with their flagship phones in my opinion.
This N10+ in my hand isn't small or light but the S22U is bigger, heavier, thicker with a worse display/bevel ratio.
Worse, no expandable storage, SOT isn't better, spen on the wrong side again, in actual usage only barely faster and that all goes to pieces once the ram loads up. Now there are reports of cam issues coming out that appear to be with the optics of the N22U.
Updates will fix some of these issues but not most. Samsung, innovative ball dropping.

This Blackhawk character has been on Note 10's d**k since it dropped and has spammed literally hundreds of threads, where he's just ****ting on every subsequent Samsung release. I think we should get a fundraiser together to get him a new phone. I feel like he can't afford a new one and needs his self worth validated by claiming the Note 10 as the only viable Samsung phone out there It's quiet sad and comical at the same time at this point honestly.

Members are posting a crappy blur pattern when trying to simply make a copy of a letter with it too. We'll see what's up when the updates and the dust settles. Regardless it's not not getting a better form factor, any lighter or any more memory. It can never boast a 1.5 tb dual drive or have the advantages that confers.

More like a broken record? One that keeps playing the same verse over and over again.
I have been using the S22U for 2 months but I'm not quite satisfied with the camera as Samsung marketed with camera feature the most.
My S21U does a better job than S22U. Most of the time, the images look like oil paint for some reason. And sometimes it does a great job.
I'm attaching 3 photos. All these are shot using the same phone. You can see the difference. The first two photos are on same day, 3rd one is on another day.
I was even thinking that my phone might be a factory defect one. I bought the same model (N908N) for my brother. That one is also the same. Then I used one my colleagues' S22Ultra for a few hours. That one is also the same. So, I dropped the thought of a factory defect device.
Is anyone facing the same?

S22U snapdragon version with March update here. And no this never happens unless I use long range digital zoom at higher numbers. Which is perfectly understandable.

I have been experiencing this as well(Snapdragon unit) from the very beginning at 30x sometimes and 100x mostly like the one attached below. Did not experience this with S21 Ultra.

Sadly I'm experiencing this at 1x. This is why it bothers me a lot. I'm also using a Snapdragon unit (908N KT version)

i just had an update
I do not have this issue on my S22U SD device (at least that I have seen yet). I have the SM-S908U model.
My Photos look fine on U.S. Unlocked using Samsung's Stock Camera Software.
Overly aggressive NR in post. Can't get past immutable laws of physics, computational photography be damned! ;-)
If you stay within the limits of the optics with adequate lighting (ISO 800 max) the pics look reasonable even when viewed on a graphics workstation. They will ALWAYS look better at 1:1 on the phone!
The 100X is pretty much a joke until you need to read a sign at the end of a street or see an equipment ID number at the top of a power pole, for example!

Using Samsung for the past 12 years, every single note model. And spent 1500USD for S22U. Don't you think I have the right to get offended by the quality of the camera?
I have mentioned that those photos were taken at 1x not 100x.
Also, the photos look the same on the mobile phone too.
Something is wrong. Mine don't look anywhere near that bad.
My main issue with Samsung is excessive over sharpening everywhere.
EXCEPT the Z Fold 3. Funny too, everyone says how bad its camera is but the SOFTWARE its using actually makes better pics when within the limits of the hardware.

There might be a problem with Korean Model. I have flashed 3 different Korean ROM (couldn't flash US ROM) with Odin. All the ROMs have the same problem. My brother's device also has the same problem. I hope they will fix it with a software update.
Hi Guys,
is it only my device or does the exynos model suck in general?
This is my S22U(Exynos):

And here the Tab S8(Snapdragon):
I don't recognize the screenshots, with what are you testing? And what are you actually doing, copy some files from one location to another on the internal storage?
Yeah it sucks.

Anything to backup your affirmation or just another preconceived idea?
My Exynos is just what I wanted...no heating, no lag, stutter or whatever, it is fast, I have 6 hrs+ SOT, blazing fast 5G speeds and it lasts the whole day...

Have a try at using the Zf4 beside it. You'll see the difference, heck even the ZF3 with sd888 is more efficient and smoother/has less frame drops.

I don't contest a Fold could be faster, I also owned a Fold 3 for some time then returned it as it doesn't fit my needs so I know how they are. But the Exynos 2200 is very close with it's SD counterpart and to be honest I don't care about some marginal higher benchmark scores. I don't do benchmarks, I just use the phone (mainly business) and it never failed me, or had lag or stutter. It just works and is flawless at everything I throw at it.
I don't want to enter in the Exy vs SD debate, it is neverending but saying that it "sucks" at least for the S22 series is completely wrong, actually in tests SD is heating more and suffers from throttling

Both the Exynos 2200 and SD 8 Gen 1 both suffer from efficiency problems because the 4nm Samsung Foundry manufacturing process was a failure (hence Qualcomm going to TSMC for the 8+Gen1). It's good that you like the phone and it works for you but there is without a doubt frame drops and general stutter on the Exynos s22u, if it doesn't bother you then great but it bothers me and obviously other S22u users on this forum.

I saw posts and heard people complaining so I don't say it doesnt. Just that it is not general or for all devices. It is not that I am not bothered, I just never encountered lag or stutter on my device and I doubt mine is unique. Maybe I use apps that don't lag, dunno...can you give me some examples of apps where lag is happening? And I don't say about that Reddit thread with scrolling lags because there I have lag too. I am talking about aps or settings on the phone where you do something and it lags. I'll try just to test

Animations drop frames and yes scrolling on Twitter and Reddit stutter. Like I said, use it beside the Zf4 or even the ZF3 and you can see the difference even scrolling on the apps. FWIW, I had similar on the P6P which basically uses and Exynos. The S22u doesn't perform badly as such, it just doesn't perform like a £1400 phone should.
So, getting back to the topic that was posted, what does any of the above have to do with SMB performance? Numbers were posted via screenshots that are in a foreign language that most don't understand. SMB infers a network copy file operation so a lot to be considered here other than just the phone. As a matter of fact, I would say the phone factors in less that 50% with regards to SMB performance.
I backup and restore a lot of things with network shares. It is a common use case for me. Fact is the SD 8 Gen 1 is almost twice as fast.
Other than that the phone is not bad.
my exinos do its work no lags no loose of frame
twitter and reddit for me are unuseful and banned from all ny phones and tablets only good to waste time i have two s22 exinos and no problems al all
i use the phone don't play with benchmarks

I have the same but the point here was performance of network transfers via SMB....I don't use SMB shares so can't check transfer speeds at the moment but I might setup one just for the sake of testing. I find cloud sharing much easier to use for me tho
my files are all on nas and pendrive in Italia cloud is not very good and working is an optional like streaming (dazn docet) only in big cities you can use it and not always
for years I've worked in a public company and backup was something really not in the mind of our central company

Exynos I get around 20 MB/s with SMB2

That is insane. Are you on Beta? Did you change something?
accidently send it twice...
I often have performance problems when using SMB on android/linux.
Try to use SFTP, its much faster.

I think, my phone just had a lucky day. I've made some testing, and my speed sucks around 1-5 MB/s
