Got a point I guess we got to wait until the 16th to see the specs of the phone......
There was a user on here who had posted a screenshot of an att version and he claimed it was snapdragon
I was clearly under the impression that the entire US market was snapdragon and alot of other major markets as well due mostly to the limited availability of the Exynos processors. Either way so long as I can get mine very, very soon I don't care. More to the point I want it rootable.
Hello Folks! I'm searching some Testers for My next LIGHT PATCH (V1.3)
If You're interested on testing it, just take a look on My latest Threads here on XDA or Visit: https://sites.google.com/view/inlightning
Let Me know if it works with Samsungs Stock Firmwares! I think AOSP is no Option Yet!?
BR
What exactly is this?
Ok got on computer to check this out..... im assuming Flashfire can be used instead of TWRP? Works for U.S. models?

Flashfire should be only used in Combination with a full Wipe (Included in the Patch as Option). All Models are Supported which are powered by Qualcomms Snapdragons. Unlikely we don't get Snapdragon Samsungs in Europe, otherwise would i buy One...
How's the Situation on the Galaxy S8 Models? AOSP available? Or just Root on Stock? I know European Models are unlockable but this isn't worth a sh** since it's powered by Exynos!? Very unsatisfying out of My View...

Im on Verizon US model ( Snapdragon ) bootloader is locked is why i asked about FF. As far as i know i dont think there are any aosp roms available for exynos version either.. even with their bootloader unlocked. I may be wrong about that though. US model is Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 i believe

Exynos + AOSP = Pain
Snapdragon + Locked Bootloader = Pain
Not seeing back since My Note 4 (Snapdragon). Last Samsung Device with Snapdragon in Europe or just the last Snapdragon Samsung Device with unlocked Bootloader...
Samsung is acting like a better Apple. Sad, i like the Design if i ignore the Quiet Mono Speaker on the S and Note Devices. And My Patch is Qualcomm Exclusive since Exynos would not support that much of Other Devices and most of Qualcomms Techs will be never available on Exynos Devices (Even with AOSP). So i would really like to see You Guys unlocked! You have such a great Hardware Base. It's a shame

Hahaha thanks. I'll try something with it this weekend
Its this time of the year guys! This thread is to discuss pre-orders across all stores and providers in Canada. To compare notes and ask ROBELUS related questions. I personally pulled the trigger for an unlocked (no subsidy) phone through best buy, delivery scheduled for the 16th and then I went back in an through Telus the pick up is on the 9th for some reason so I pulled the trigger on both. What did you order from where? What did you select? Pick up or delivery? Please share.
It seems the Exynos s9+ has 128gb of memory and the Snapdragon only 64gb. What gives?

That kind of makes me mad, like why can't samsung offer 64gb and 128gb/256gb in Canada. I mean if apple could do it, then samsung should have no excuse.

yeah there is an exynos version, not for Canada. I heard Samsung going be under-clocking exynos processors so they are the same performance of sd845.

But on snapdragon, we wont have unlocked bootloader so no root , which means no xda stuff. Na man, i won't buy s9 then!
Hola
I am still on the fence about getting this device. One unique thing that I need is VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling features and currently you can only get these "advanced" functions by buying a phone directly from your carrier. I would be more inclined to get the Exynos version primarily because you can get decent third-party custom ROMs that, for the most part, provide a cleaner experience than the bloated full stock firmware.
Ah boy first world issues indeed...

I just went over my emails and it turns out they sent me an email telling me to disregard the shipping notice and that my phone will be ready for pick up on the 16th. Oh well...
Just placed my preorder online with Samsung.ca. SES is not too convenient for me and having read about some hassles with using the $150 credit against the phone, I figured online was easier as the credit is already applied and I may get my phone before the 16th.
But why you guys not worried about the Snapdragon processor, i mean locked bootloader. Are you guys okay with that?
Also the benchmark scores are drastically higher on Exynos (3600, 9500) as compared ro the crapdragon(2400,8500).

No point if Samsung going under clock the exynos version so it performs like sd845. That’s what people at anandtech found out, hopefully it’s not true.

Bro the geekbench scores are drastically high on exynos but yeah the the other scores are pretty low.. i think in real life, Exynos will still be faster than the Snapdragon.
People still pay attention to benchmarks? I have no issues with my SD835 S8+ and I only expect the S9+ to be even faster. I'll take real-world usage over benchmarks any day. Plus, I like being able to use VoLTE and having proper Carrier Aggregation support for LTE, something that I can't use if I import an Exynos version.
What do you guys think, will there be any law suits againts Samsung where they where promising a flagship and we received maybe 500€ worth of a phone. With all the problems going around like bad network signal, freezing when getting a call, bad GPS signal, camera is far from their promises. I can't belive that a phone can be this different from SD version, which i would not think for a 1300€ phone. I am affraid that many of these faults are hardware related and we will never get the phone it was promised, and will be just a shadow to SD version.
Im starting to believe that GOS issues were intruduced just so Exynos variant would not feel so much different to SD versions, so the must have reduces SD performance so i would compare more to Exsynos version.
If i could return the phone this instance i would, or at least if Samsung would give us option to swap it with SD version.
Dunno... I believe that many of the current issues can and will be fixed via updates and presently many tests indicate that the Exynos indeed isn't all that bad in most categories.
I am in fact most curious about reception quality aka modem, not sure if this is really fixable via software. Most tests so far indicate that the Snapdragon modem indeed is quite a bit ahead of the Exynos....
I have Exynos version (12/256) since day one, never experienced major problems with it, but starting with AVC6, the phone sometimes freezes and reboots for incoming calls, before I even answer. I don't like it.
So... I should not have ordered one today?

Sound like a plan.
Don't understand why anyone would purchase the Exynos device. It's not like Exynos has a good track record, it's been problematic for many years. Yeah, some users haven't had any issues but let's be honest, you're rolling the dice on a very expensive smartphone. Even if your carrier can't provision all their call features for the most part you'll lose carrier aggression and 5G. More than happy to sacrifice those features for a problem free device. Class Action Lawsuit? Good luck with that, you might get a check at some point down the road for $20. The only people making out on that front are the lawyers!

Yes, I'm aware of that. You still have the warranty but it has to be sent to the retailer for repair. I've had a number of devices purchased from Hong Kong, Snapdragon variants which never needed any type of repair so that hasn't been a concern, I would buy another again without hesitation.

I'm buying Exynos, because only it's available here in Europe, and I get it with insurance from my carrier, so repairs won't bankrupt me .

What's even funnier is when a cheap, half baked, Chinese device is compared to an actual topshelf flagship.
Why would the newer and presumably better (even if only by a little) Samsung Galaxy A53 5G be cheaper than the older A52 5G? I've seen this on quite a few websites including Samsung's official website. And their customer service representative was clueless and of no help on this question (or any other for that matter. I've tried a few times over the years for various questions).
It's quite strange.
It shouldn't be. But either way, both of them are good value.
The A52 has a headphone jack. The A53 has 5000mAH battery. Depends on which you prioritize.

it's cheaper for samsung to make an equivalent performance exynos than to buy a snapdragon, because qualcomm sells them for a higher price to make a profit.
for what it's worth, the soc in the a53 is between the a52 and a52s in terms of performance.

Well that explains it! So the older phone is the better performing one (even if just by a little). How smart of Samsung!
Performance is my number one priority item when looking for a new phone. (Smaller size is also important to me, but sadly all the budget phones today are so massive.)

the a53 isn't the successor to the a52s. that comes later in the year, and will be more expensive than the a53. probably with a 780g or some unreleased SD or exynos chip that's a bit better.

yep. more profit for them. cheaper = more phones sold (in general). more phones sold = higher production, which means lower cost per unit, combined with more profits from more units sold = more
If there was supply issues with the regular A52 5G and A52 4G phones, why couldn't they just produce more of them instead of creating a new version (A52s) entirely?
