I am using Dutty's 6.1 hybrid Rom. But a major problem is with the vibration. I have selected Vibrate and ring and then the phone vibrates continiously with the ringtone. When it was with the Stock rom the phone didn't vibrate constantly. This is eating a lots of battery ...Pls pls find some way to STOP this.
BTW- Pls don't say that i have to select vibrate then ring option.
When you have it set to vibrate and ring please look at and post the contents of the following registry key:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0
list all values and data
thx
Also make sure you understand the expected behavior:
Vibrate AND ring will mean it will play the ringtone and vibrate all through the ring tone.
Vibrate THEN ring will mean it will vibrate once for a few seconds then play the ringtone.
Which one have you selected and explain what you think it is doing that is not normal....
I think he may be talking about its a constant vibrate rather than a pulsing vibrate, mine does the same thing. I'll get those values here in a minute.
My kaiser sometimes won't stop vibrating after receiving an email(not on sms).
This started to happen after installing no thrills. When i press the power button until the dialog to shutdown appears, and press no the vibrations stop. The only real annoyance is when there is an email in the middle of the night.

Hi,
Maybe this can help:
check reg: HCU - ControlPanel - sounds - RingTone0 - Script
a = activate
V = Vibrate
P = play sound
w= wait
r= repeat
maybe you have something like: avr
You should have something like: av2pw2r
This way you tell the device to activate, then vibrate, then play ringtone, then wait for 2 seconds, the repeat the instruction...
cheers

I can see the ad now.... "Hey Ladies, HTC Tilt, not only looks good, but feels great in your pocket!!!!!"

I get this too, but it doesn't happen with every email. I find just hitting the start button stops it, but if I'm not near the phone, it's really annoying and drains the battery.
I'm using Dutty's 19209 rom. Any ideas?

That means:
Vibrate(v) continuously(0) and play ringtone(p) for 3 seconds (w3) then repeat(r).
If you don't want continuous vibration, use something like:
av3pw3r
Vibrate(v) 3 seconds (3) and play ringtone(p) for 5 seconds (w5) then repeat(r).
well then....seems as if i have passed on my little problem to you fine people. i've been complain of this for months now. I have hunted dutty down for many hours to fix this but no luck. from what i can tell the issue has to do with sound.
if you notice it only happens when the phone is promoted to play sound...phone call....text...or email. Sometimes (depending on the radio) if you let it sit for a few seconds (we're talking 40 seconds or so) you'll notice the last half secants of the sound will play, then the vibration will stop. Other times or most of the time, the last bit of the sound does not play, so the phone continues to vibrate.
to tell the truth i've been way to lazy to find out what it is that stops he last bit of sound from playing, but trust me when i tell youz...thats the issue.
my quick fix is to FORCE it to play sound. How? just hit the red phone button. That little beep it makes is all you need. once you hit the end button the vibrating is done. it hasn't happen too many times with the newer builds...but it still happens. its a bug i just accepted.

If you haven't applied the reg hack, the question clearly was not directed to you. So let me put that again: Can someone who applied the reg hack in post #10 and is not trying to play the smart### confirm to me if it works on his/her device?
In the meantime: I have tried and put av1pw3r (meaning, according to post #10, that the vibration would last 1 second). I sofreset immediately after and confirmed that the hack sticked.
But got the continuous vibration at least once after that. I'm on Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700 with the cube.
I have learnt from experience that I could make the vibration stop if I started a call...
I had this problem when I flashed a ROM and kept the older radio to see how it would work. When I updated the radio it went away. Try changing radios it might work for you.

Hm, nice idea, will try it out
So it's been a month since I got my HTC Touch pro and all the problems I have with it, I've had with the HTC TYTN II. To list them:
- Volume is too low during conversations, it has to be fairly quiet around to be able to hear the other person (even with the volume turned way up)
- There's a 2-3 ring delay on incoming calls.. which means people hang up before you get a chance to answer.
- Sometimes trying to call a number, the phone will just display the Calling Number screen and you hear no sound at all in the speaker.. then after 10 seconds it will end with 3 beeps.. Like it couldn't get a signal or something, even though there's plenty of signal on the signal gauge. You try again 2-3 times before it works.. REALLY annoying (Never had a phone that did that, other than the TYTN II!)
- Answers calls in pocket. You go for the phone, but the touch screen is on and you answer or hang up (in my case apparently almost always hangs up) while the phone is still in your pocket. Also VERY annoying.
- Alarm or snooze malfunctions. This happens rarely for me, but since I use it everyday as my alarm for waking up, I notice! It's not because I sleep past the alarm. I've been lying awake listening for it to ring... the vibrator works, but no sound is played. This means that I can't trust my phone to wake me up if I'm going to catch a plane or other important stuff. It's very rare, but it happens.. it also did on my TYTN II, except that didn't even vibrate! My guess is windows is busy doing something else .. then doesn't play the sound properly.
- Then there's the slowdowns.. not really a fault, but like windows 95 it can become very slow or unresponsive for a short period for unknown reasons. A phone has to work when you need it... not delay you for 30 secs while it thinks things over. I've had to reset my phone a couple of times this month. (No I didn't run 10 apps at the same time while trying to use TF3D to look at pictures)
- It takes 4 seconds to lock the phone (So that it doesn't also MAKE calls in your pocket) .. is there a way to tweak this? Like only pressing the off-hook button for 1-2 seconds instead?
These problems are the reasons that I'm considering selling my phone to some other unfortunate person. They are BASIC functions that just have to work! I love the HTC touch pro for it's PDA functionality and my Tom Tom maps etc. but I'm really starting to hate it for these basic functionalities that work very poorly!
I know other people have experience the same problems.. couldn't we make a sticky with problems and possible solutions for it? I also really hate that fact that I have to hack my phone in able to make it function properly!

Have you considerd a custom Rom yet? I am currently running the DCS Rom, and don't have the problems you mention above. It made my TP much more responsive!
A lot of these problems though, are mentioned throughout this forum, and can be solved. Either by ROM updating, or tweaks... What Rom are you running?
I understand completely. I feel differently though. My TP is the best phone ever. The issues I have were seen on my previous devices (HTC devices for the US). The faster processor, increased storage, and TF3D make me happy. Don't get me wrong, I have cussed at this phone, missed inportant business calls, and missed a flight thanks to the alarm. I soft reset 1 - 5 times a day to proactively minimize these issues. But overall, the TP is a huge improvement over my Wing. So long as my new devices are improvements to the one before, I am happy. I can't live with a standard cell phone, and love my Raphael.

Yes, but it happens so rarely I can't say if its the sound. Besides, it's the rooster sound that came with phone. No matter what it should never happen. It happened on my TYTN II too.. So I guess it's probably a windows thing.

Hmm.. I might try that.. but I often see people start having entirely different problems with their phone then (lock ups and strange behaviour). If there is a stable ROM that fixes these issues and doesn't break down hard once every week. I'm all for it!
I'm running the standard ROM that came with the phone. Ver.: 1.90.403.6 DAN (Danish) ROM date 08/23/08, Radio: 1.02.25.19, Protocol: 52.33.25.17U
If I call my cellnr. from the home phone, it starts ringning as quickly as all my other mobile phones... So no, I really don't have that problem, thoughj I did just see another topic from somebody with exactly you problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432415
You might want to follow that.
On the alarm, I have 2 kids, so I don't use an electrical alarm Sorry...
The different ROM may be something you can test at least. It fixed a lot of annoyances for me anyway. Look in the Wiki for different Custom Roms, there are a couple out there, and for me, DCS worked best. You can always go back to original, should you not like the ROM. I'm running DCS now for three days, no resets, and it is still fast....

Using the registry hack for the touch diamond I'm now using the "lock on backlight turned off" fix.. it works, and my phone locks when I press the screen off button. Way less annoying than waiting 4 seconds for it to lock.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDevic eLockEnable from 0 to 1 and everytime your backlight goes off the device is locked
Nice, 1 Question though; What happens if you make a call? The display goes of as well then, will the keyboard then lock as well? Cause that's not handy, to say the least

So if I'm listning to my voicemail, and need to press "3" for deletion, I can't? Or will it disable after I extract my stylo?

you can extract the stylus but the you have to juggle around with it OR you can press the standby button on top to unlock it. It's a pain I know but the problem is that it is a touch screen so pressing a button to unlock is less worse than without it.
So functionality actually remains as it is now... That's good, I'll give it a try!

Sounds like you are using a ringtone from your microSD card. This will cause a delay. Your ringtones need to be copies to your device and activated by holding the stylus over your selection & hit set as ringtone.
Hope this helps,

Try SensorLock. It's a great little utility that unfortunately has stopped working for me. Must be something I poked somewhere. lol
As for the alarm, mine works fine... but I do notice the ringing a couple of times on the sending end before the phone starts to ring. I'd sort of passed that off to a network thing, not a phone thing.
The 3 second ringtone delay is a WM issue. Look at the postings for VAlert in the general hacking section. The only known fix is http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/staticpages/index.php?page=20050224182009983
but no one seems to have figured out their registry setting change...

Klaxon (sp?) alarm looked cool and would have also been practical, but it would crash - totally unreliable.

No, in my TPro the delay is exactly the same (oviously using the same mp3 file in memory card or in the device)..i've reduced delay sound installing Diamond tweaks and setting "without delay" in ring tone..then i've erased diamong tweaks because use too much battery now i have only 1 ring with light (and identified call incoming on the screen) and without sound, and BEFORE the second ring my device correctly sound

I have a HTC TouchPro and had the same issue of not wanting to press the long press end key for 5 seconds to lock the phone. I tried the code you gave and unfortunately the phone still does not lock when I push short press the power button to turn off the back light and put th phone in sleep mode. I really want this to work since when I am driving, I think when I go through good and bad coverage areas, the phone will automaticallly wake up about 3 times each way, so if it is not locked, I can accidentally call people while driving.
I tried asking this in the big question thread, but since no one reads that one I'll ask it here.
When I recive text messages the vibrator goes of and stays on for like 10 sec. That is fine for phone calls, but om SMS I'd like a short burst instead.
I see no reson to waste battery time having the phone vibrate for so long.
In the setting I only find the option to enable or disable the vibrator.
I have also looked for some 3rd party software, but I have only found software where I can make the phone vibrate when touching the touch screen.
Same
I have the same issue. It was not a problem in Windows 6.1, so I'm guessing it's just something we have to deal with for now? From what I remember, the extended vibrate is only when the screen is locked... and currently it seems that the new Windows lock has been giving a lot of problems.
Is this the case for you?
Hi, I searched the forum but had no luck:
Completely new Nexus 5, White 16GB, and I have this issue:
When i receive and miss a call, as soon as the ringer stops the phone automatically shows the unlocked homescreen and it just stays there, instead of locking itself normally. This is really weird, and happens even if the phone is in my pocket (so it's not sensor-related like whatsapp pop-ups for example). Also not really safe i'd say. If I select another lockscreen method, it behaves normally (showing, for example, unlock pattern for a certain amount of time before turning the monitor off again.)
Anyone experiencing the same issue?
http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/1q04f7/nexus_5_unlocks_itself_after_a_missed_call/
This is the only other reporting I found on the web. Can anyone test this? It's really fast and easy, and I think this could be a pretty serious issue.

Yes. I don't really like the pin/passcode unlock (also don't really need it). Classic slide is simple and fast enough, but it's crazy that it stays unlocked after a missed call.
Also, I noticed that it automatically enters the last application that was open the last time you locked it, creating even more concerns (last online on messaging applications, online status in facebook, ecc.)
Just imagine you boss calling you, with no luck, and founding out a second later you're online in Facebook. Just because you were ignoring your phone, while driving for example.

Nice one, I have posted in that discussion as well. Hopefully we will get a response.
Others have the same problem, do you know how to report a problem to google ?
I just tried it on my phone, called from my desk number, missed call. It did open the phone all the way, but the screen turned back off in 5 seconds, per my settings.
My phones is currently stock, have not rooted or unlocked the bootloader yet. Only UI modification apps are Widgetzoid and Dashclock, I wanted to stay stock for a bit.
Sorry, that you are having issues. Unfortunately sometimes the easiest way to figure out what is causing the problems is to do a factory reset, and re-dowload your apps one by one, to see what is causing the problem.
Ok, but a several people have the same issue ...
Anyway, I think I will tri not to miss a call whenever the phone is in my pocket !

I don't like setting the screen timeout so short, many thimes i just place the phone on my desk while messaging and I want the screen to stay on, for at least 2 minutes.
And when I lock my phone to keep it in my pocket, it's supposed to stay locked and ignore any unintended touches as soon as i slide to unlock, which was originally introduced to prevent an unlock by accident. Yes, I could lower my screen timeout to 5 seconds, but that does not solve the problem because still unintended touches can occur in that time frame.

I wasn't sing o set your screen lock time to what I have it set at, I was just saying that it did re-lock. However, you are right, IMO it should not completely unlock the screen when the phone is ringing.
Though I have never not had a passcode on my phone, so not sure if that is how it always behaves. Was just trying to test and be helpful.
I sent a message to the google team, let's wait and see.
here is a link to see the bug :"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSTq8Xhe6Kc&"

Thanks for testing, I was wondering if this could have been related to root / unlocked bootloader somehow but you have confirmed this is not the case as it happens on a totally stock phone.
good catch there. same issue here.
at least a Google employee has responded to the topic created HERE. Maybe that will expedite then pushing out an update ASAP.
The other day I got a call from someone in my contacts who regularly calls me and the phone screened it , it never did that before. Any reason why it would do such a weird uncalled for type of thing all of a sudden.. ? Thanks
Anyone ?
Maybe your Flaky game is causing more problems than you realize?
Game causing the phone to screen a known person in contacts?? Hmm I don't think so

Lol, he made word for word response in another thread. Not sure how that happened
You might have had screen unlocked and accidentally tapped the screen call button in the notification banner.

This has happened to me before or turn off screen calling? I find everyone just hangs up when I screen their calls
I have the same issue. I had to turn Call Screen completely off as it was not even screening, but actually treating calls from my wife and kids (who are obviously in my contacts) as if they were spam and sending them directly to Voicemail, phone wouldn't even ring or show the missed call in the call log. I would just see a missed call notification. I have had this same issue on both the QPRs as well as the Stable release, so it isn't something introduced in the most recent QPR. It very well may have existed since I got the phone back in Oct. I raised a bug report, but never heard anything back on it.
My call screening won't even activate. It's been sitting there saying activating (requires wi-fi) since last night.
