Greetings... So I bought a Samsung S21+ Ultra, all was ok then 3 or 4 updates later , the last one being a week ago to Android 12, I lost the menu item in the text messages, when I opened them , under the 3dot menu , I HAD the option to block text messages from certain sales pitches. NOW that is gone . and I am PISSED . Also I was using Calls Blacklist / call blocker by Vlad Lee, once I migrated from my broken LG that I loved , I noticed it no longer worked as good in the Samsung nightmare bloat machine.
So I ask who the hell took that away from that phone ? I'd like to kick them in .....
I know a lot of people love Samsung , and I am NOT one. the Ultra photos are HUGE and there's no settings to make >>>ALL<<< photos come out at a certain size. I have *****ed about this at Samsung , but you know Asian companies get embarrassed and do not discuss **** UPs. they have me thinking of dumping this POS and going to the dark side IOS yuk. I finallty found a great app that compresses thos giant photos to a manageable size. I spend all day at work, taking photos of vehicles and then I email them back to my company and if they are not small enough , then ALL email servers gag at 25MB's or so.
The new Samsung I bought on sale at Costco , sees ALL hdmi devices EXCEPT the TIVO boxes. I guess they must be at war and since we know the company that bought Tivo does sue everybody , I can see why, but WHY **** with specs like HDMI ?
OK enough of this rant any suggestions welcomed
Android 12 is a mess... blame Gookill.
Use a package disabler or ABD edits to purge bloatware.
I never update an Android if it's running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. One of the first apks I disable is OTA updates.
Updates tend to break things...
A Samsung phone's OS can't get named Android - where version doesn't matter: It's by nature a Samsung-created Custom ROM based on Vanilla Android and hence corectly named One UI.
Just read the title and thought instantly: Blame them all!

Still, in comparison less trouble with T-mobile than with Vodafone or Telefonica (they just have the best network, at least in Germany).

Unfortunately Samsung is forced to comply with some of the Google's load versions rules like scoped storage.
Result is it's impossible to mod Android 12 enough to behave like Samsung Android 9 and 10 variants.
I have 2 near identical N10+'s except one came loaded with Android 9, the over 10. There are close to 100 small Samsung system apks in the 10 version that are not present in Android 9 version. Some are for the latest UI version but dozens of thosenew apks modify the Q version so it behaves almost identically to the Pie variant.
As a result the newer N10+ is still very user friendly. The ram and battery usage is similar or better for the Q variant. Samsung actually put a lot effort into keeping their Android 10 rom for the N10+ viable and user friendly. The SD card drive interfaces perfectly and my old freeware office app copy WPS* runs on both equally well.
I have no illusions that the Samsung Android 11/12 upgrade will do the same though. I will never adopt either one of these Apple like abortions. Google Android set the bar too low for even nimble Samsung to limbo under without losing their balls, so to speak.
I have adapted and found work arounds for issues with my stock Samsungs without rooting them. They run fast, stable and fullfill their mission. With Android 11/12 that would prove impossible.
I get no tangible benefits with 11 or 12 only a dysfunctional tard UI that would bite at me constantly like a rabid temple monkey.
*I have no freeware substitutes for this app and need it to create word docs. The free MS cloud app sucks. My WPS copy dates back to over 6 years when it was freeware. It's an important baseload 3rd party app for me.
So right off the get go 11/12 would be costing me time, money and pointless aggravation.

That is a great generalization which can only scare people and doesn't give any help.
I bought many phones (Sony, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Nokia, Lenovo, Google, POCO, latest is Oppo A74 5G) and I always updated via OTA but I always did it manually so you just need to disable the "automatic" updates, and I never had any problem.
The basic rules for OTA updates are: patience, patience, patience, a fully charged battery, let the phone do the firmware update and don't touch anything unless you're specifically asked to.

Doesn't matter if it's a good flash. I've had phones trashed by good flashes of crap stock firmware. If the flash goes south you're boned and when it goes well it's factory reset time to get a clean load.
This N10+/P hasn't been updated in over 2 years. The current load is over 1.5 yo, still fast and stable with minimal maintenance. Beyond that it fulfills it's mission. Security is not an issue.
My other N10+ is running on Q, that's as high as it will go. Android 11 and 12 especially are no cherries. They would impair functionality and usability. For what?
To blindly update for no tangible gains with a phone that's running well is just asking for trouble. Over the last decade Google has trashed many of their apps with that mindset.
Of course what works for me could blow up in someone else's face. At the end of the day though there's no saving dumb bunnies

they are now telling us they will install updates after skipping them 2 times, after that they will force it on your device. so IF I am going to be subjected to this bull**** on Android , then IPHONE will be my next choice.

This is the apk you need to block.
You're carrier can block updates on their end if it's an AT&T variant.
Blocking OTA updates is no big thing. Try doing that with an Apple...

I am with T-MOBILE, the OS finally put a screen warning that Calls Black Lists is broken. I un-installed both regular and pro version. as I searched Google Store, I came across T-mobiles scam app , installed it and it seems to be working ok, it blocked 12 calls today. When you get to be my age , you start knowing what is a priority and what is NOT. to me phone " security updates " are not too important. I only make calls, do texts and do yahoo mail app , and firefox for web searches . that's it. so I can do without ANY updates, but like I said , T-Mobile / Samsung updates tell you up front you can deny the update twice, then they will push it.
Since all I do is RANT about Samsung as a POS company. they want to be so much like Apple , they took out the plug for the earphones, and they REMAKE every app that Google has and then rename it and send all content to their " Samsung Cloud " . I turned off Bixby as much as possible, but most of their super tanker bloat ware , won't even let you turn off notifications much less uninstalling them .
but by February , I just might decide to take a loss and go with a Iphone 13 max.

Samsung's are easy once you understand them. To use them effectively the learning curve is unavoidable.
Using a Package Disabler will let you easily block any bloatware or problem apps. No need to uninstall... you can block them from running at boot or while using the phone.
Apples lacked the insane degree of customization a stock Samsung has. Samsung's are infinitely more flexible than iPhones plus many allow for up to 1tb of expandable memory.
There's no such thing as a dual drive iPhone.
My favorite phone remains my 2 Note 10+/ Snapdragon's running on 9 and 10.
If all you want is a basic phone and don't care what the UI looks like or how it interfaces with you than perhaps a iPhone is a better choice. They are a rip off from the get go though. Parts, repairs, even cables are expensive. Their base level of simplicity is probably greater than Androids though. Updates more reliable. Not malware proof and worse Apple is under the CCP's thumb.

Thank you.
Thank you all for your comments. I'm done for now, no more crying. BTW so far the t-mobile " scam " app seems to be working ok. sarcastically laughing at them. the government told all these phone companies to implement that " shake and bake " protocol that would identify scammers and just dump them , INSTEAD , T-mo wants 4.00 per month to go pro to stop these robocallers . meanwhile I will be reading all posts related to Android 12 and see if other people on other phones have the same complaints as I do with Samsung. and I do realize this NEW One ui 4.0 will probably need polishing , and maybe we might get back and easy way to block calls and texts once they come into the phone. Hope is spring eternal ey ?

Let me say first I am a Samsung fanboy. But we all who adopted the gear 2 should come together to sue Samsung for a faulty product. After scanning over many pages of issues we are having with the gear 2 around application installs which seem to be based on some roulette wheel of success of an app will install or not, battery issues, having to do numerous factory resets, and with an even bigger slap to the face, bringing out another watch yet again in about 3 months. We have been sold on crap that we can't even take back. Clearly there is a product or software issue where many people have the same phones, many with stock Roms even on same carriers having mismatched results on app installs. Also while using Samsung phones. I believe this is a shot in the gut to the overall care that Samsung has for its customers. Which doesn't look good as we get in this viscous cycle of new this of what we sold you just a few months ago even though what we originally sold you we still haven't been fixed. Spending 200 plus for a digital watch with some really nice features doesn't justify inconsistency of product or a faulty os. We need to send a message to Samsung that this is not acceptable. And the biggest thing that has even impacted me, I have bought several apps that will not successfully install and I am no able to get a refund for. And this has happened to many people. We surely would be all over apple or any other maker if these things where going on. Yes Samsung makes great products that we love to have, but this watch and trend is totally unacceptable!
I would add to this claims for false advertisement about available apps. Example: Runtastic, mentioned in all the press releases as launch partner, still doesn't have a Gear 2 compatible app.
Also, cleverly planted hints for non-Samsung device support, which pushed many people with unsupported devices to buy the watch. Does anyone really think now this will ever happen?
I have no faults worth suing over plus you cold always just return the product no one forced you to keep the device I kean it isnt even a year old .why people love to sue if a big company like apple is in court for years how far you think wed get wake up and stop complaining.

While the Gear 2 line has been pretty popular, for what it is, it functions. It's the extra stuff that's the problem. Hardware is sound and the built-in software works (ymmv). Everything else is just gravy. I think the only way it would have traction if the hardware or built-in software had significant problems. The only thing I've installed is watchfaces, so to me, it's fine how it is. However, I do know that people are getting pretty fed up with not having access to the things everyone else does. I guess I'm just on the fence on it.

Yeah so I read again just to please you and I stand by my comment .if you have the time and money to try to sue a giant like samsung go ahead. Plus if its faulty just factory reset and sell on ebay simple. And like I said we are early users is a new device what do you expect. But at the end of the day all users are different some issues some not. Thats life and I really can care less. I have better advice for you go get leagal advice about if you even have a case .

Umm yea many mayor net source articles also state that mostly everything doesnt really work. What a shame because the hardware is up to par but the software not so much.

I'm perfectly happy with my watch, and thanks to these forums I knew exactly what I was getting before I bought it .
If I didn't like it, I would take it back.
I know these watches don't do half of what they will do in a year or two, but in the meantime at least I have a toy to play with. And thanks to XDA, it's a fun pastime for a nerd like me. And for $150 for the Neo, I really can't complain.

I just came from the Galaxy gear, although i would like to file a suite for getting 2 defective galaxy gears with bad cameras and making me pay the diffrence for the new watch.
Coming from the original gear the only thing I don't like about the gear 2 is the weak vibration. The sound is louder when on a call, charging is much easier, you can change the bands although I can't find any locally or even in the US for that matter. I think Samsung should have given previous gear owners something 20 app store credit something to that effect.
I hear ya, I had the gear2 and switched to the Neo and like not having the camera liability.
It is a nice toy and does what I need for now, but I can't wait til the watch has its own sim. Would be nice not having to carry a phone around everywhere. I frequently answer calls and spritz thru my email while my phone sits in my briefcase.

Simple way to improve battery life. 1. Turn off wake up motion. Theres no need to have your wach wake everytime you raise your hand. 2. Put the screen off time to 5 sec. 3. Lower brightness to 2.. thats should give you about 3 days . But honestly you could charge yor watch every night its not a big deal I mean who sleeps with a watch anyway. With these setting I dont im not a power user lol. But you know what these watch is alot more useful than a $8900 plus rolex that only tells time.

Without even commenting on your issues, here's what you can expect. The LG G2x had major problems related to its battery circuitry which were proven by a third-party engineer. It affected almost all the phones T-Mobile sold. I had one, I know. Legal action was threatened starting in early 2011 and a class action suit was filed mid year. The case settled in December 2013. Everyone got $19 but I'm sure the lawyers got amply compensated.
So carry on Norma Rae. Keep in mind Samsung's lawyers are probably tougher and more plentiful than LG's. And in the G2x's case there were real demonstrated issues.
wow.... LG settled out for a whopping $19 per each affected user and the "issues" still didn't get fixed.
you gotta love how some people's first reaction is to SUE when something doesn't quite work the way they think.... everyone has an itch i guess
good luck with this half baked idea.... im sure there's a bunch of clauses within the EULA that protect companies from these types of people.
you know that little part of new software that states "check here if you agree to the terms and conditions within" and you do without actually spending 6 days reading it? well there you go.
Some of you and your posts are kind of sad of your general overall lack of concern for what is an legitimate problem. A prime example of how the larger group crushes the smaller and supported by few in the pockets. I would not be surprised if you have a vested interest in Samsung or the watch itself. I personally don't wish to spend my time addressing the flawed thinking you show with your comments and how it directly relates to how we have simple violation of consumer producer relationship. If you have had a good experience, I am glad for you. Go start your own thread ayn share. We all got our own opinions, but save them for an appropriate thread that reflects it. I would rather keep this thread clean and not garbled up with useless statements of why you disagree with clearly a legitimate concern of a faulty product that has affected many people.
Might I also mention what I forgot to mention in my previous post, ever since I downloaded some application, don't know which one. Because I have reset both my phone and watch several times and flashed all 3 firmwares for the gear 2. But when my watch is on and connected to my phone anytime I get a call my phone automatically answers. Only when the gear is connected. I thoroughly checked and troubled shooted ever gesture based and auto answer feature on the gear 2 and my phone and even turned them all off. This is a very serious liability concern for me being I work in a multi billion dollar business in which very sensitive information could be leaked and place myself as well as my company in a serious litigation suit. Needless to say I cannot use the watch in my work environment anymore at least connected to my phone, which for now makes in my work environment my watch a over glorified digital watch which cannot function as it was sold and bought to do. Being myself a day one adopter and purchaser of the gear, returning it is not an option nor am I willing to reset it and sell it on eBay to be an issue for someone else as previously suggested. The overall lack of consideration of this matter and suggesting I should dump it on someone else is a prime example of how things like this continue to happen. I feel sorry for any of you who may happen to get taken advantage of and not find any assistance. But I assume you'll just dump it off on someone else instead of making the 'causer' accountable. Smh.
Snickers, what phone are u using and is it stock os? Most of the folks who are NOT using custom roms are working exactly as designed. Mine has worked flawless on my Note 3 rooted stock. No real mods to the phone. If you are not stock and you are not on compatible phone, no lawyer would even consider your case. Using outside of design parameters is instant dismissal from any court in a case like this. Now for the other person wanting to hit Samsung because of aftermarket software companies NOT delivering, you have to take action against them, unless any of those companies are wholly-owned by Samsung themselves. Either case, you would be hard pressed to find a litigation team willing to attempt this.

It's appears that you are fond of Note series, why don't you consider about Note 5?
My question is are they going to bring back mSD support?
I really couldn't care less about having a uniframe or metal body if it sacrifices having a mSD slot available. Not to mention the availability to simply swap out a dead battery with a fresh fully charged one.
What's more frustrating is this isn't an issue that requires too difficult a fix to be reasonably implemented. Plenty of other devices have or had spring loaded dot release slots for sd cards as well as simple cards.
A mSD slot is no more vulnerable to issues than a micro usb is. They already ditched the water/weather proofing feature, so that isn't the reason.
Unfortunately, it would seem like they're struggling to find fresh design that host an advancement of the previous generation's features. Instead, we're regressing in utility and technical capabilities in the name of aesthetic appeal (?), I guess?
I, like 95% of the people of earth with a smartphone, keep a case for its protection at least about 90% of the time. The backing of the phone is squarely at the bottom of the list of things to look for in my future purchases.
Ya know what would be really cool? A phone that is glass on the front (screen) and back. Oh yeah, they did that and everyone ended up needing a fancy rubber band slapped around it to keep the antenna from doing its best impression of your old school bunny ears TV antenna, essentially worthless.
A "smart" device such as a mini computer we cutely refer to as a phone must bend form to its function. A car built on the premise of using square tires is going to be a disaster.
I'm not the only and hardly the 1st to voice their displeasure, but what's changed?
Something huge, actually. We're beginning to see an official policy change straight from the top with respect to mSD, or additional storage in general. Google themselves have seen the writing on the wall , and in a full turnabout, the latest dessert offerings from the Android mothership include a host of expanding features and core implementation dealing with greater cohesion of the OS's abilities and use of added storage.
I could go on, but the point being is that something has to give, and I don't think Samsung holds the high card. The largest phone manufacturer for android just dropped SD support in all their new flagship phones. Yet, Google is about to go big into unleashing the use and integration of external memory. Their previous view on the subject is clearly spelled out. All you need to know is that every Nexus phone - Google's self anointed phone for "pure" android, has NEVER had a model with the ability to add additional external storage.
Next year's Nexus will almost certainly be the first to include it.
Hence, I ask, what's the word on Samsung reintroducing mSD support, because I'm almost positive that Samsung will be the first to blink on this subject.
This device won't really impress me much UNLESS Knox is disabled by default. (Not just app I mean in the boatload) and its unlockable. Why doesn't Samsung see that NO ONE LIKES KNOX. (No one in this community anyway) its straight up a pain in the ass for developers. I really REALLY want this to be a good device, but I wait unimpressed BC the s6. There's my rant. -pronax on the nexus 6

KNOX isn't aimed at this type of community, the app itself was originally designed for corporate use designed to protect data with a 1-click "job done" type of mechanism. The issue is that the idea was never really adopted among consumers, besides getting rid of KNOX isn't so hard. As long as a phone has cool mechanisms in which it makes it unique, you can't call it a bad device just because it has specific software pre-installed.
Seems a cool gadget... But seems weird to me as it's not long ago since the launch of s6 and s6+....! And if at all Samsung is planning something like this then it will be a big surprise!
True but the average person doesn't really need Knox. For big corporations, yes, I see how it can be useful I totally understand. I'm saying the bootloader should be unlockable. Maybe a switch in dev settings? I'm referring to the almost uncrackable bootloader and the knox counter not the app.

I think the idea is to make the phone secure. 99% of users don't care if it's easy to root or not. They care if their data is secure. They care whether the thief who steals their phone can access their personal or corporate information. The harder they make it for people to modify or break into the phone, the better their sales will be. They don't cater to us, they cater to the masses who buy their phones.

I don't think your getting my point. English is not my maiden language so excuse please for any spelling mistakes. But I am speaking of the warranty counter in the bootloader (Odin) mode. I do not think that should be there. Ah well you all seem to think I'm off base here. So I will stop commenting

They have the KNOX counter because their warranty specifically states they are not responsible for any changes we make to our phones. As far as they are concerned, changes you make to the root software can negatively impact the phone. From the Warranty listed on their website for my Verizon S6:
"(g) defects or damage resulting from improper testing, operation, maintenance, installation, service, or adjustment not furnished or approved by SAMSUNG, including but not limited to installation of unauthorized software and unauthorized root access, both of which shall void this limited warranty."
That's why they have a KNOX counter. It would be nice if there was a way that we could just say "I don't care about the warranty, let me root my phone." But since there are root methods that can not trigger KNOX....

Yes the point you bring up is a very interesting one because the KNOX counter appearing 0x0 still after root. A custom recovery would be nice for all kinds of reasons but I can't for see it happening. I still think their unauthorized policy thing is too strict. Because of not being able to use the phone. I'll use example of "software not authorized by Verizon..." Because that was just dirty. If it said hello your warrenty is now void but you can still use the phone I think that would be fair. I do reaise that warrentys are expensive and people like them
Danish news media today cited a Huawei source saying that the P9 will be updated to Android Oreo 8.0: https://m.weibo.cn/status/FFJfa03uP
Looks more like chinese than danish. Not sure what to believe now.
I can't read chinese, but i really want Oreo on my P9, even if it's the last i get before buying a new phone.

what's wrong with Oreo-based EMUI 8.0? where do you know it's not oreo itself? are Oreo-based Android One or Oreo-based MIUI 10 not an oreo update too?

Another negative person.... you know everything i assume??? Do you have a source spying on the company im working for??? Dear Negative person. Now I am allowed to say that i already have in my hands an unpublished Pre-beta test Oreo version on my phone since i have a part i develop for the firmware in the country i live for. For a better and stable support for the mobile companies here and customize few things.
Dear negative person this forum was the beginning for many of us recognized or not developers to find a hobby that potentially could lead in a job. I am a good example my self. So i personally demand a bit of respect from users who are interested on customizing their mobile devices, but they do not have enough of knowledge or and experience. All these years (and that's my 3rd newest active account because i like to keep my developing clean so i can manage my requests) until i expand my knowledge i was reading and asking. Lots of questions, lots of annoyance towards other devs. I would suggest you to do the same if you are interested on developing so you will not have to wait for any Huawei to give you the experience you want on your device. Internet is a free exchange of ideas in the end of the day and that idea me and all of my generation fought so you will enjoy your right to share your opinions throughout the web.....but... Idea is not spreading inaccurate misinformation. Thats literally a crime and its punishable. I am telling you off for many reasons and because i am concerned especially with P9 since i am leading a dev project. P9 is an essential device with great characteristics that can compete all the devices in the market right now you like it or not, you admit it or not. Its underdeveloped yes. I agree! Like the rest of the mobile phones out there. The main reason is that you can not be a pioneer with the same speed as 15 years ago, since the technology moved fast and forward the last 15 years with no space for new ideas and pioneering. And then... financially crisis hits all over the world... Android is not an Iphone. Its not Apple. Android is FREE and once you have a free thing you have to pay for laws to be able to give it for free like the companies who dont give their operating systems for free. No android mobile company earns $$ from the operating system. Its is against the law to do it. All of the companies i worked in my past like Nokia, Sony, Google, etc etc are making their profits from the devices. in other words RETAIL SALES.
So now you can stop spreading your hate because you are disappointed from your device and rethink. Every action have a reaction. Thats the basic rule of engineering i learned in school. And its true that this law applies to real life.
Now back to the subject and to answer clearly your stupid comment so you will not mislead opinions.
You can not have Emui 8 without Oreo and vice versa. Its not just an APK based app. its a new customized framework which needs environment and code for Oreo to work. For an example you can not install Emui camera from any version to a google vanilla firmware and make it work without changing and codding things and support through kernel and OS the application. If the application needs Oreo based system simply it will crash and it will not work as it should. Thats all i have to say.
I hope you enjoy my way of talking.
PS: Its a phone and not a rocket yes? It does what they promised you it will do. Be glad and wait or move on to a "better supported device".
If you have demands of buying a new phone because the market is trying to grab more money out of your pockets by providing a new OS...then guess what.... you are a retail sales victim.

You can not call me an insider. I met through this forum many people and many devs who was working in much more famous mobile companies. Hell yes we even had official programmers for Microsoft, Sony, Samsung. XDA gave loads of knowledge to this industry. As for the beta test i will say Soon i assume the first version you could try in few weeks is the Chinese one since most of the complete parts are coming for porting and translating here. Which means whenever permissions will be allowed and made for public beta test. Unfortunately as for now is strictly for internal development purposes. I will repeat Its not "insiders". It is a part of our job to provide the best experience for our country. Finland is famous for many companies like Nokia (clearly Finnish company that creates from tires for cars, to space engineering technologies, lasers and back in time even mattresses ), Huawei EU departments (responsible for development and marketing around EU and passing to other companies for additional changes), Rovio (Angry birds ) etc etc and many other companies in general.

Nuh the beta goes for devs who know how to make an assessment, report etc etc. I wouldn't touch a beta if I wasn't sure of what I'm doing. Also its rare to release such files that will caused bootloop. Crashing yeap i get it very often but its too early to tell you anything more. With the files i have i dont get bootloop. There are issues with battery and overheating but thats all so far. But yeap to clarify... so far no issues of rolling back as well since I'm doing it daily

I'm not talking about myself, I can perfectly rebranding and flash any firmware, but nevertheless thanks for the answer, and ... welcome Oreo.
Cool stuff, i hope they take their time and release a bug free version. So glad i bought this device nearly two years ago and its still a very good smartphone that can even compete with more recent ones.

Hi
Would it be possible to have the HDR mode on the screen like you have for the AI, or have an option when you can add an extra few to the sliding modes already?
Hi,
Would like to see better, quicker support of monthly updates, also a slight brightness boost would be great.
Great phone by the way, thank you.
Are there any plans to improve the camera quality? I see it as a 5T replacement, but based on the reviews, still confused. Also, have heard that getting a bootloader unlock code is really tiresome? Kindly make these devices as developer friendly as much as possible. Lastly, pls also introduce a 64gb version in India which is more economical for the masses.

Hey,
My question Is about the use of AI scene detection and semantic segmentation for enhanced Augmented Reality experience.
Since the Honor View 10 and the Honor 10 have NPU clad SoCs and the Honor 10 can recognise more than 500 scenes and also use semantic segmentation within one frame, could we use this object identification featur s to enhance the AR (Augmented Reality) experience on the AI enabled Honor devices, considering recognition of objects and surfaces is one of major problems when it comes to AR?
Hi
Are there any plans for releasing a device with unique international ROM across all the regions Just like some other competitors ?
It will help developers to make a stable custom Rom for the device. And eventually users will benefit from it.
Is there any proper way to get the bootloader unlock code as the unlock page was taken down from the website recently.
Would honor be open to releasing a phone with stock android or android one, at least for its flagships, so as to attract lots of new customers through promise of faster and guaranteed updates?
Will you ever put Wireless Charging in a Honor phone?
Will you stick to Kirin processors for High End phones or are you considering Qualcomm processors too e.g. Snapdragon 845?
what would be the improvements you could bring to Honor 11?
Why is included notification LED so small? It's basically like phone doesn't have notification LED. Also Wi-Fi range it's very bad compared to my previous phone, status bar icons and text are extremely small, why not let us customize them? Why did you take down bootloader unlock page, you really think people will believe story about about technical issues? Why is AI just oversaturating photos? Why your international phone has camera suitable only for Asian girls who want smooth baby white skin with heavy post processing even with beautify completely disabled, you know people outside China prefer real skin photos right?
Can you talk about why you removed bootloader unlock and when/if it's coming back? Without bootloader unlock, no development is possible
Bootloader
Why did Huawei decided to lock the bootloader and stop supporting developers? After a period of seemingly supporting XDA, now the company wants to revert it all back to when it was not as popular. Can we really trust a company whose promise last for only 3 months?

Glad they announced it early before I was about to make a plunge to Honor 10. What is amusing is that they are so excited to collaborate with end users on a Development oriented portal and curtailing the freedom as a backdoor policy.
Oh yeah, I definitely have more than a question for the Honor representative, which I'm pretty sure won't be featured, but anyway.
Why do you like to screw people (especially enthusiasts like here on XDA)?
You push funds into this partnership with XDA, push funds into "Honor opensource program", then kill all development by preventing users to unlock their bootloaders, the first step necessary to begin development...
Why is your software so messy that bricking a device is so easy when attempting to flash custom ROMs?
I myself accidentally bricked a Huawei trying to flash custom ROMs about a year and a half ago. Attempting to restore the device is a real pain, maybe the real "danger" of flashing custom ROMs as you say isn't the custom ROM itself, but your horrible implementation that leads to devices sent to warranty repairs.
What do you gain by backstabbing this community?
I see you even bothered to make an account and "talk to us". You invested so much in this community and now you silently backstab us. Do you think by locking your devices you will gain security and more users? You will actually lose users, and this is android folks, people will always find a way to mess up with your stuff.
Why did you limit the "Honor open source program" only to this year's devices?
Yeah, I'm a Honor 9 customer, and I would've liked if this incentive was applied to the last year's device. It seems logical to me to support the last year's device, just saying.
Why is the "Honor open source program" such a fraud?
To quote a former forum user, this explains what this miraculous program really is.
I must say I quite disappointed in the "Honor Open Source Program". To a developer, a program with this name, coming from a phone manufacturer, implies that this will be a program in which Honor will release the source code of the phone to developers in the program. However, that seems not to be the case. Now, I am forced to conclude that the a-fore mentioned program is just a means to give away free phones and hope that developers will be so grateful for a free phone, that they will help generate a loud noise that will boost the sales of the Honor View 10. This is not a bad thing. A free phone is nice but if I had known we wouldn't see anymore source that is normally given from Huawei/Honor, I would not have signed up.

I am more than 100% sure that you won't even bother to answer these questions, but I made this post more to show you that people here on XDA are not sheep, and we do have a brain, and we don't take bs for granted. It's a shame, the hardware is good, the software is decent(ish), but the people behind all of this aren't that cool. Just my 2 cents buddies.
Yes, I own a Honor 9, I'm satisfied with the purchase, but I'm definitely not satisfied with this kind of behavior.
Double Chin Bigot said:
Oh yeah, I definitely have a question for the Honor representative, which I'm pretty sure won't be featured, but anyway.
Why do you like to screw people (especially enthusiasts like here on XDA)?
You push funds into this partnership with XDA, push funds into "Honor opensource program", then kill all development with preventing users to unlock their bootloaders, the first step necessary to begin development...

I was going to buy an Honor 10 since I believe they have great support for developers. I had second thoughts at the last moment and now seeing the announcement that they made, I am glad I didn't buy it. Their hardware has never had any chance to compete with the likes of Samsung or Apple. The only thing making them seem attractive was developer support, but that too is seemingly dead. Never gonna recommend a Huawei device to anyone ever again.
Any Update On Honor 9i Oreo Update Please ? Waiting for so long..Btw..Love Honor Phones..?
I have a bkl l09 still on November 2017 security patches.
Bring in America how am I able to update?
I love this phone as it really is a well made phone.
But will they be lost due to out of date firmware?
When will Honor develop service centre chain like Xiaomi did??, with the best service you can grab more market in India
Honor IR Blaster
There is IR Blaster in Honor Phones. It's very useful. So I Wanted to know how IR Blaster is preserved and not removed like the other manufacturers.
First of all I don't want to "win a free gift"
I would love to know why you do such hypocritical moves. It amazes me how suddenly from "Open to devs" you became "You can't unlock your bl".
It's a shame that you behaved in such manner, considering a lot of people really trusted in you, especially Chris that really looked forward into this project.

The funny thing is some android users are still concerned about the security and still fails to understand that every android user ( I'm 100% convinced that anyone even iOS or anything else) is already ****ed long time ago.
And in this article it was enough to read the first line about what Google will do (Google said it had investigated Egelman's report and taken action on some apps)
The biggest data stealers are investigating a security issue...LMAO
If your daughter got pregnant from her boyfriend, google will know before you, that was one of the little things i read about Google.
I really have many things to say but i feel it's just a waste of time.
No need to worry at all, they already know everything about you, everyone is watched by the satellites, they are controlling everything, so after all those years you started to worry about your privacy? for real?

Bruh, benchmarks doesnt mean nothing, in speed tests the Xperia XZ2 beat the XS with a "less powerful" SD845, and about two weeks ago there was a bug/exploit which let 'hackers' spy you through Facetime, even Apple recognized his error and it's fixed now, but that means that even iPhones are vulnerable, i'm not trying to stopping you to switch to the iPhone but still, not the most secure either.

This is fine and all, but you realize that you can literally use custom frameworks to completely avoid Google/Mi/Samsung/whatever you're using, right?
Security is a relative term. If you know the right things, nobody can take away your data without your consent.
These kinds of posts only bring out the fact that you're never going to modify the internals of your device, and use it to its full potential.
In that case, you deserve an iPhone. XDA is not for you.

You call this device old dude? -,- I normally use a phone at least 2 years or more before I even think of changing and this device is barely 1 year old almost only. I bought my RN5 just 3 months ago for almost 200 Bucks.. lol Cause I don't like the RN6 or 7, Notch looks horrible and Apple Stuff is not allowed to even get into my room. I love Android devices and I'm proud of it. Btw. I don't do any banking stuff on any device, I'm oldschool. I prefer buying stuff with real money and not virtual through devices.

Some "intelligent" dudes here think that they will be in the safe side by using the custom ROMs cuz MIUI is full of spy, i read that many times here, ofc MIUI is full of spy (not joking) but what is the difference if it's from MIUI or Google?

And know he's saying he will be in the safe side by using the iOS, the white angels, like i said, this is just a waste of time, happy safe side for all.

See dude...or MR rich man, this's XDA, nothing for Apple, we don't need these topics here, and XDA isn't for selling as one of the rules here is:
7. Do not sell or trade on the forums.
If you wish to advertise a product, simply contact us. We can provide ads but you are not permitted to just post it in the forums. If you do, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
The buying, selling, trading and / or exchanging of any item is now prohibited on XDA, in any forum or via Private Messages.
If you want to sell your device there's no need for this propaganda, a new thread and security major....selling a device is much easier than that
So, thread against the rules, and the contains can easily tells that you don't know anything regarding what's going around you...privacy?

Just The Facts... This Article Pretty Much Sums It Up Succinctly:
Here’s a look at the Android operating system.
Android operating system
Popularity: The Android operating system is hugely popular. This means that developers are constantly building new apps designed to run on the system. That’s good for users ... mostly. The problem comes when hackers create apps designed to infect your mobile devices. There is an app review process for Google Play. Unfortunately, the process is far less stringent than what developers face when adding apps to Apple’s App Store. It's easier, then, for malicious apps to sneak onto the Google Play store and easier for users to accidentally install one. One of the main issues is that the end user can go into a Android device and enable the installation of software from Unknown Sources. This means that you can install software on the Android device that does not come from the Google PlayStore. The software — or APK, as it’s called — can be downloaded and installed from a website bypassing the Google PlayStore review.
Open source: Android owners can modify the source code of their Android devices. This appeals to users who want the flexibility to change the way their mobile devices run. But it can also make Android devices vulnerable to attacks. When altering their device’s source code, users could accidentally leave an opening for cybercriminals.
Fragmented: Unlike the iOS operating system that only runs on Apple-branded products, the Android operating system runs on mobile devices manufactured by a host of companies. Some companies might provide hardware that is more secure than others. Moreover, the manufacturer of the device can use a custom ROM or base operating system that has software installed that cannot be easily removed or analyzed for malicious intent.
Apple’s iOS
Here’s a look at the Apple’s iOS.
More stringent controls: It’s more difficult for developers to get apps into the App Store. That’s because the review process is more stringent. Because of this, it’s less likely for a malicious app to sneak into Apple’s store.
Less flexibility: Apple doesn’t allow the owners of its devices to modify its iOS operating system or custom ROMs to be loaded on their devices. That makes the system more secure since Apple controls the complete experience. This doesn’t stop some owners from “jailbreaking” their Apple mobile devices, modifying their source code. Jailbreaking opens new capabilities on the devices — such as changing digital-assistant Siri’s voice, for instance. Be careful if you do this: Apple won’t provide support to such devices.
A less tempting target: Because the iOS operating system powers fewer mobile devices, hackers don’t target the system as often. This makes sense: Hackers and cybercriminals can ensure more victims if they focus more of their attacks on the more popular Android operating system.

Something isn't right at all!
Are you sure that you are a normal person?
Do you really think that you're smarter than anyone here by dividing and cutting the posts, like we are all blind!
The rich man were and still talking about Apple and he will pay 1000$ and can't sell his device with 100$, and now in his signature the RN7 is the real deal!!!!
What's going on here? Maybe there's a secret model only for your country calls RN7 iOS Zimbabwe edition?
The rich man who don't sell his device and at the same time he's trying to sell his device here and after he was about to pay 1000$ now he don't even have about 60_70$ to buy the secret model of the RN7 which is the real real upgrade from the RN5?
Since you looks retarded and clearly something isn't right this will be my last post here.
One of the painful things about our time is that those who feel certainty are stupid, and those with any imagination and understanding are filled with doubt and indecision.Bertrand Russell.
Have you ever seen such a beautiful and real quote like that? i think this is the best quote which can describes you and this situation in general
