Did you experience getting tiny scratches on the pre-installed protective film on the main screen?
I dont care much about the super tiny scratches but recently i got a small scratch that makes reflections in the white background, i have no idea where it came from as normally i am careful with my devices but it happened and it bothers me.
I know samsung doesnt recommend removing the screen protector, and i am not sure of it is a good idea to install one on an already existing one.
Appreciate sharing your experiences here.

Most of the protectors they sell aren't really compatible with the current one. They have a camera hole instead of a camera cutout, which prevents them from fully securing and they inevitably peel. If you can find one that follows the same design, it usually works. I've tested a second protector on theirs and had no issue beyond the gap above the camera that was causing it to peel.
That said, if you feel confident enough in your ability to replace the protector and in the protector you choose as a replacement, it should be alright. Samsung doesn't recommend removing it because the actual screen is not like Gorilla Glass that offers some level of protection from even the most minor damage.
The alternative would be to contact a local Samsung authorized repair shop (or Samsung support) and see if they replace the protector and the cost. Even if you manage to find out what protector they use to replace it, that would give you a good idea for what to get if you do it yourself.

I too had the same issue with my Z Flip 3 and I switched it to Gadgetshieldz screen protector and using it for 2 months now. It does provide good protection against scratches but also protects the display from edge to edge.

No, the factory protector was peeling off so I changed it.

I have the Z Flip 3 5G. Received it from Samsung direct purchase late Aug, early Sept.
I now have a crack in the screen protector along the hinge. It's about 3/4 of the way across the screen.
T-Mobile said one store was an authorized repair center. CSR setup an appt for me. While I was driving to that store, I received an email that my appointment was cancelled. Store was not prepared to replace the screen protector. T-Mobile offers free lifetime replacement of the screen protector.
I also tried Geek Squad which is a Samsung authorized repair center. No joy. Also not prepared.
I've also been working with ubreakIfix. They have ordered what's needed from Samsung to perform the OEM repair. They do not yet have a shipment confirmation.
BTW, this is in the northern Denver suburbs.
I'd really prefer not to lose my warranty.
I know the employees vary from store to store and we are not dealing with the same people, but Geek Squad are the last people I would allow to do screen protectors. Unless Denver has the best standards in all of the Best Buy chain, they'll be doing it is in a room attached to a storage area on a mat that hasn't been wiped in months or, worse, right at an open counter on the main floor. This is also assuming you get someone that can put one on smooth. No offense to anyone that works there. Its how they designed the stores and the only real training is practice.
UBreakiFix has dedicated clean rooms at most of their locations and will have you inspect it before calling the job completed. You still might get the one that doesn't care, but they answer to Samsung directly.
I'm working at this place where you can buy phone accesories as well as used and brand new phones in the shopping mall in Poland.
I have at my disposal the best machine for cutting screen protectors on the Polish market, the screen protectors itself are really high quality. Want to know what is the really funny part?
A few weeks ago I called the company from which we have this machine to ask about the process of gluing foil to our phones and I found out that everything is as always, but I lose my warranty. I went to the Samsung website, chatted with one person, told everything and I was told that I should not replace the screen protector myself, but contact the authorized Samsung service center where they will exchange it for about 20 dollars. I did so, I called, asked and found out from an employee that they would replace the screen protector, but they can do it either for a fee or under a warranty, but they delete all data from the phone because they flash the latest software version. Fair enough.
The problem is, if I deliver phone to them in person, they would do it all within a maximum of two hours but unfortunately I can't go there so I have to send it to them and wait for it to be done and shipped back up to 14 business days
The bureaucracy of it all is frustrating. The service center here had to set my phone up to wipe it again to set it up to verify the repair because someone there had to wipe it.

Ive cracked my screen and ive found i can buy a new screen and lcd for 169.99. or i can buy just the over glass for $20. I heard you can use a heat gun to seperate the glass and the lcd. Has anyone done this and can tell me if it works?

Mostly likely the digitizer will get destroyed in the process. Buy the complete unit.
Someone said a few days ago he only replaced the glass but he had to break it in order to separate it, use the search I bet you'll find it quickly. If you can afford it take the whole thing, less chances of screwing up your phone, and you could always keep the old lcd for a test run with a glass only or in case you somehow manage to crack it again.
Still I'd suggest buying a screen protector once you fix your screen, costs less, barely noticeable and saves a whole lot of money and hassle.

This. I cracked my screen and bought an entire new one for $160 via ebay. It took 10 minutes to take apart and install the new one and be back up and running. I also bought the Otterbox Defender, honestly...works like a charm. It's durable, nice, feels good and it doesn't feel as bulky as it looks. The only down fall about a case with a screen protector is that the Galaxy series has a screen that goes all the way to the edge of the phone (like most modern phones now) so hitting stuff on the VERY edge of the screen is more difficult because of the raised case.
Buy the screen and a protector and if you are still curious, buy the replacement glass for your broken screen and try it. Worst case, you're out 20 bucks and have a completely broken screen (would be out the other $160 for the new screen you'd have to buy if you mess up any way) or best case, you're out $20 bucks but have a new screen incase you ever break it again.
Unscrew the 7 screws on the back (one is above the sim slot, keep it separate as it's a different size) and once you take the back piece off, there's one small black screw holding the board to the screen. The phone is 3 pieces, screen, board and back piece, it's extremely simple. Just pop all the circuit things with your nail or whatever (there's like 6 total). You have to pry your headphone jack off as it's glued unless your new screen comes with one...doubt it.

I repair phones and have replaced Lcd/digi assembly on both I727 and T989. No way you get that apart without busting the exiting assembly up. The cheapest part can be order via Ebay from China and you'll have to wait about two weeks for part. Or there's the company I used in San Fancisco at gounlock dot com that has it listed at $154 I believe. They have a listing on ebay under SkyStarTrade and I offered em $148 including shipping and the took it. I had the part in 3 days. Would highly recommend!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with Sammi Friday. The Rep quoted me $158 to replace the glass. So if they mess up the digitizer is on them. Cheaper than I was able to find the combo anywhere on line. So tomorrow my phone heads back to Sammi. I'll let you know in about three weeks how the service was and whether they honored their quote.
And exactly 8 days from the date that I shipped it to Sammi I have a my phone back. They replaced the LCD, bezel and glass for $158 as quoted. Not only that but they paid all shipping and used UPS 2nd day air both ways. And I'm still under warranty by having them take care of it. All in all couldn't be happier with the service. So if anyone needs the glass fixed my vote would go to Sammi.

its not bout scratches its bout how well you take care of your phone because it comes with gorilla glass 4 so it shgould last if you take care of it.
Gorilla Glass 4 my ass. I baby my phones and have never scratched a screen until this one. Super disappointed with GG4 or Samsung's implementation...
I also take care of my phones VERY much, and can see some scratches visible on sunlight after 3 months. I never put my phone with something that can scratch it. But then again, I saw those little scratches on every phone I had. Good thing about older phones is that it wasn't so freaking hard to find a screen protector

When U live in Serbia, ordering things is a pain in the.. Neck
I have a friend that works in a larger phone accessory shop here, and he said that none of the protectors they have are full screen or that they always have bubbles.
Have U tried any? Maybe a suggestion so I know which protectors are good for ordering online.
I have a galaxy alpha with gorilla glass 4, and also have the small scratches.
These small scratches come from sand,dirt,dust that is harder than the screen and rubs against your phone in your pocket, these small scratches are unavoidable without screenprotector.
But these are small so they don't bother me, what worries me more is the back glass which is not GG4 and scratches more easy.

I've owned a Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930W8 Exynos edition since release date. One day around month 3 I was removing the phone from my otter box case and with the littlest bit of flexing the back glass cracked horribly. I found this to be very annoying since this is supposed to be a "prime" quality phone with gorilla glass 4. I think it was more like gurly glass 4 as I bearly flexed the phone at all and am a very caring / gentle phone user and have owned many and never cracked a case/screen ever. My question is has anyone had broken glass, front or back replaced under samsungs warranty or am I crap outta luck? I called Samsung once and they said it's not covered. Since it was not outside of proper use I feel I was fed a line. Any help or suggestions? Very dissapointed in gorilla glass 4,and Samsung for placing it all over all sides of the gs7 in a very thin manner.
Makes me rethink if I'll ever purchase another Samsung again.

Hard or rigid protectors can't cover the whole screen because the edge has a bevel. I got an anti-glare matte screen protector and it works great

Well those back panels can be bought for like 13 bucks and can be easy to replace but you will lose the waterproof tho.

But I don't really want a rigid protector, I mean, i have been using plastic film protectors on all my phones, because I'm very gentle with them and just want to keep them from small pocket scratches. I just need a full screen one that will go over those 2.5d edges of the glass. I also don't like those matte protectors, they totally mess up the screen quality
I had 3 years SG S4 and only one little scratch. After 3 days having S7 I have already weird "graze" (is it correct word in English?) . Is not visible when screen is clean but dirt always stay in the same place. I'm VERY disappointed. Also afraid about home button made of plastic !
My first S7 edge had a super Deep scratch right on the screen curve, stay that for awhile before it turn in a crack going across the screen.

I bought a Fosmon screen protector for both mine and my wife's S7s and they fit really well. If you apply them correctly then you won't have any bubbles. I never use the guides or anything to put it on, I just go slowly and use a credit card to smooth out bumps. Cleaning your phone screen first with alcohol and a lint free wipe cuts down on anything left on the screen to cause bubbles.

Since you went hostile... You might wanna to stop being a **** and start your own thread, for your own issue, instead of hijacking this thread. You broke your phone and that isn't a warranty issue, which Samsung already explained to you. He offered you info the help you quickly & easily fix your phone for very little $.
As for screen scratches on my S7, I don't have any so far. No screen protector either. I guess it's probably nerdy, but I carry my phone in a Nite-Ize holster, on my belt, and never in my pocket. So far, I've never scratched a screen on any of my phones since the OG Droid. I had a screen protector on my OG Droid, for a few months, but that's been the only one I've used.

What's your problem? Maybe you should just STFU then if you get mad bout people helping your dumb ass. You break your own phone and come in hete crying bout warranty while this treath is about scratches on the screen. So next time calm down or dont reply
Personally if your just using it day to day you wont see any scratches on your phone especially since the Galaxy S7 has gorilla glass 4. I would recommend a screen protector or even a glass screen protector if you are the type of person who chucks around their phone and doesn't really care about it.
You should be fine using it without a screen protector
I've just carefully removed an Ultimate Shield tempered glass shield from my S7 as it had become scratched and I was going to fit a replacement. After removal though I noticed that the screen was discoloured at the top (wasn't before removal). I checked further and realised the glass was actually delaminating from the screen itself.
I was very careful when removing the protector and didn't pull at it hard at all having installed and removed many tempered glass protectors over the years to many phones without any issue. I always look after my phones and this current one is no different.
To say I'm annoyed is an understatement as the phone is less than six months old. I bought the phone off ebay (apparently it was an unwanted upgrade from Vodafone). The screen itself gained a small scratch the first day I got it such is the fragility of the screen on this phone. I've seen many others with similar issues with this Gorilla glass fitted to the S7, hence why I bought the Ultimate Shield.
The phone obviously needs repairing but I don't know what's the best route to take. I'd really appreciate some guidance here as to where I stand with warranty and whether going into my local service centre (UK) will get me anywhere and if not, what's my best course of action is.
You could try contacting the screen protector company and tell them what their product did to damage your phone, and would they be willing to help/pay for repair costs
Or contact Samsung directly (Twitter seems to be best) and tell them that somehow removing a screen protector gently has damaged the screen, would it be covered under warranty as the phone is under 12 months old, and applying and removing screen protectors does not void warranty

I haven't even had my Pixel for 2 months yet and already have a huge amount of dust inside the screen area.
It is NOT between the digitizer and screen protector, I peeled off and replaced the screen protector thinking that was the case but it is between the LCD and the digitizer!
I should note that I work in construction and I'm around dry wall dust all the time so I think it's drywall dust...
I'm just concerned that this is going to continue getting worse over time. I badly want to use compressed air to blow the dust out, but I'm afraid that attempting it will just blow more dust in.
Is there something defective about my phone or is it normal that it is apparently not sealed very well in the screen area?
I've had it in a case literally since day one, with a screen protector. I try to take good care of my phone's as I pay full retail so I don't lose my grandfathered unlimited data on VZW so I'm kind of upset that I'm going to have to replace my phone in a year when I can't see the screen anymore, not to mention a huge hit in the resale value of horribly dusty phone internals.

Just as a follow-up to this..
I contacted Google about the dust issue, which has since gotten worse, and I just received an RMA number today.
They want me to factory reset and send the device in and they are (I'm assuming) just going to replace it with a new one.
I explained that I ordered the phone from someone else who had originally ordered it directly from Google.
They also confirmed I will be receiving a Google version of the phone (unlockable BL) and not a Verizon (Locked BL) version (Unlockable like the one I have)
I was told that the phone is "dust resistant" and that this is seemed strange to them, especially being that the phone is less than 2 months old. They actually specifically said "[they] were glad brought this issue to their attention" which kind of makes me think perhaps there is/was something weird with production on some batches?
Next I'll be buying a new case which boasts "Water & Dust Proof" and hoping that it's not incredibly bulky and has muffled audio as many dust/water-proof cases experience.
If anyone else experiences dust buildup under the digitizer, I highly recommend contacting Google and getting your device repaired/replaced. They included a pre-paid postage label and everything so its quite a painless procedure, outside of having to switch back to my S5 for a week or so.
Just my two cents since you're going to be looking for a new case. I've had mine in an OtterBox commuter case since the day I bought it and have had no issues with dust or damage. I use mine as a flashlight for attic/basement crawls as well as toss it in drywall dust piles constantly. I'm pretty hard on it and I've had zero issues. It's not as slim as I'd like of a case but it's not too bulky and seems to protect pretty good.

Perfect! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll see what I can find online. I have a few days before my new phone will be here so I will get one ordered so I can get my phone back in a case as soon as it arrives.
Do you also have a standalone screen protector on yours or does the OtterBox provide a built-in screen protector?

The defender comes with a screen protector but the case is huge. The commuter does not come with one. I used one of those tempered glass protectors for about a day but didn't like how the edges didn't stick fully down so I took it off and have been running naked since about November and no noticable scratches. If you have a Verizon store close by they should stock the commuter.
My Flip 3 is about nine months old. Enclosed are two pictures, one from midnight on July 4, the second from 11:30 the next morning (noon-ish, July 4). The device was left open overnight because I was backing up my files to a USB stick in preparation for Samsung's fix of the screen. You can see the de-lamination of the factory-installed screen protector spread overnight from one-half the screen, across then entire fold-area, to encompass the entire screen, in less than 12 hours. There was no damage to the screen before the de-lamination started two days ago (July 2). The first indication was a tiny spontaneous de-lamination at the far right edge where the screen folds.
The phone is lovingly cared for, never dropped, no tears, no scratches on the protective film, no water exposure, battery-saver (85%) on, slow-chaage always on, etc... The phone is otherwise in "like new" condition. Samsung support recommends a local "UBreakIFix" store for the repair. I'll let you guys know how the repair goes.
So the "cost" for using this phone, so far, is $100 a month. $900 divided by 9 months, before it's now so fragile it can't be safely used. Wow.

Another dropped ball from Samsung.
This was predictable. Samsung exceeded the limits of the plastics and adhesive system. It is a high risk technical venture and they likely will never have the durability most would like.
As long as the screen underneath isn't cracked/loose, it should be fixable by removing the plastic screen protector and applying your own

Yeah, the phone is in perfect condition, except for the protected coming off. If it were out of warranty I'd probablly try to fix it myself.
Interestingly, the local Samsung-authorized repair sites near me are taking one look at the phone and saying (even before they look at it), "No, we don't fix those. Check one of the other repair sites.... ." They say they'd need to replace the entire screen, rather than peel/apply a new protector. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with such an involved process being done by "just anybody." This phone is just so intricate it's hard to imagine a local repair store having the experience needed to "cut open the glued bits, avoid cutting the cables, replacing the screen, and gluing everything back together so it's secure and waterproof."
If Samsung has to fix it themselves then if the phone fails again they have no one but themselves to blame.

I took off the original screen protector about 4 weeks ago. It had no damage, but curiosity beat me and I wanted to try the real, naked screen
It felt sooooooo goooood! Smooth, no fingerprints, brighter, touch nav was better, no rainbow effect ect.
Went naked for over 3 weeks and no scratches or anything. But, a couple of days ago I applied myself the whitestone film. Easy to apply and It's better then samsungs.
So, had a nice adventure
I've read in many places that Samsung will honor the warranty even after removing the plastic screen. Double check on that, but I highly recommend replacing it
Had mine for barely a month before I couldn't deal with all the fingerprints and ugly feeling of the screen
YouTube videos are your friend for gauging the difficulty and seeing the process. Helped give me the courage to do it

That should tell you something.
Getting it right on the first or even second shot may prove challenging. Wet apply hydrocell's are relatively easy, one sided adhesive ones like the stock ones are a true pain.
Anyone who has removed the stock protector can tell you the flaw that causes it. They are using a rigid protector with a weak adhesive.
The folding aspect has allowed Samsung to make the process sound much more complex, but it's installing a protector like any other phone. The only difference is taking more care to smooth it into the crease. Let it sit open for a day and try to take it light for the next few. Almost any third-party protector that is decent as a screen protector will work.
The stock protector is poorly designed, but it's not some magical specialty item. It is a slightly nicer version of the film Samsung wraps all their phones with so they look new out of the box.

I have decided to send the phone back to Samsung for the replacement of the screen protector. They did not require a phone factory reset for this work. I'll report the quality of the repair work when the phone is returned. I'm hoping it will look "factory fresh". But I've also ordered an aftermarket protector in case I need to fix the fix.

They may not have required you to do one, but I hope you did a backup. It doesn't always mean they won't end up doing one, planned or not.
Does anyone have a source to buy a new screen protector that isn't too rigid or thick? There are tons of options online but I'm not finding an OEM option to buy. But it sounds like some of you may have found a better option anyway. Any links would be appreciated!

I've used Skinomi since my Pixel 2 XL days. The wet application process makes sense and the self repair screen makes it always look new. It's what I'm currently using on the Zflip
When I had mine before I got rid of it, I replaced the screen protector with a liquid one. Worked very well up until the actual screen started cracking on the crease. Keep in mind no drops and everyday use. For the 3rd generation it's definitely sad to see

Thank you so much for this helpful hint. I previously purchased a Whitestone Dome screen protector with install jig. It went on perfectly, but when I folded the phone 30 minutes later it delaminated in the crease. I threw that $20 piece in the trash. Nowhere in the instructions or installation video did it say to wait a full day. Based on your input I installed the same kit again, waited a day before carefully folding the phone and, bam, works like a champ!

UV cured adhesive once fully cured is at its full strength. No additional time is needed.

Yeah I have never had an easy time with either of those types of adhesive systems*. Hydrocell wet apply works best on non-folding screens for me but may not be ideal for a foldable.
*Whitestone sent the wrong screen in the right box so I never did install it. They were a complete offshore nightmare to deal with. The "new" one I received had been incorrectly reboxed. They caused me quit a bit of trouble... and never even apologized for the inconvenience. So free advertising for them.

Glad to hear it worked out in the end. There is somewhat of a curing period with any adhesive, but rigid protectors will still separate over time. Given how flimsy those are, it will be a lot longer than the stock one anyway.
If you use a UV one, longer is not always better. The catch to UV activated adhesive is the same as UV resin. It is on a parabola where it will hit peak adhesion and then actually begin to break down. It's best to follow the exact times provided and then let it get some sunlight to finish off curing.
P.S. Whatever you do, do NOT use a liquid adhesive protector on this phone. It's not an S series or Note where the panel is flush with the case. It's an aluminum body wrapped OVER the screen. While they do claim it's water resistant, getting adhesive under that edge can eventually lead to pressure on the edges that will damage the screen and cause it to fracture.
