Delaminating screen after removing glass screen protector - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I've just carefully removed an Ultimate Shield tempered glass shield from my S7 as it had become scratched and I was going to fit a replacement. After removal though I noticed that the screen was discoloured at the top (wasn't before removal). I checked further and realised the glass was actually delaminating from the screen itself.
I was very careful when removing the protector and didn't pull at it hard at all having installed and removed many tempered glass protectors over the years to many phones without any issue. I always look after my phones and this current one is no different.
To say I'm annoyed is an understatement as the phone is less than six months old. I bought the phone off ebay (apparently it was an unwanted upgrade from Vodafone). The screen itself gained a small scratch the first day I got it such is the fragility of the screen on this phone. I've seen many others with similar issues with this Gorilla glass fitted to the S7, hence why I bought the Ultimate Shield.
The phone obviously needs repairing but I don't know what's the best route to take. I'd really appreciate some guidance here as to where I stand with warranty and whether going into my local service centre (UK) will get me anywhere and if not, what's my best course of action is.

You could try contacting the screen protector company and tell them what their product did to damage your phone, and would they be willing to help/pay for repair costs
Or contact Samsung directly (Twitter seems to be best) and tell them that somehow removing a screen protector gently has damaged the screen, would it be covered under warranty as the phone is under 12 months old, and applying and removing screen protectors does not void warranty

Front Glass broken, replacement possible?

Hello,
I managed to drop my phone from not even 10cm(Gosh this thing is Slippy and fragile as F**k) on concrete and the Glass(not the Display!) broke.
So i was searching on the internet for glass replacement and found one on ebay,but i have also heard that it is quite difficult to remove the glass withou damaging the Display/Touchscreen.
If someone knows if it´s possible or if i need a whole new screen i would appreciate it.
Have Samsung replaced it for you. Bring your S6 back to them for repair. It will remove glass compatibility and job quality problems.
Mine was not even a week old and it fell from my fking pocket onto asphalt/road and part of the screen cracked. It's the damn bulging rounded glass on the sides which make the phone so fragile compared to, say, an S4 which had flat screen!
The retailer does not cover broken glass and was asking 200+ dollars to repair!!
Bought a tempered glass for $16 and it's kinda usable although painful to look at now. And the fking dents on the sides of the aluminum case make it a more painful experience considering I invested all my money on the phone and was waiting to buy a cover for it. Wished I bought the $50 clear view cover when I got the S6
The only place in my area that can replace stuff like this is my provider vodafone.
But i dont really want to spend 200€ to have my Display replaced.
Bite the bullet and have the glass replaced then buy a protective case.
It is difficult to replace only the glass for your s6. I suggest getting a Samsung Galaxy s6 screen replacement with digitizer.

How much is this front glass worth? A place here in Grand Rapids wants $275. See my g920p sceen isnt cracked but got smashed in a bit and glass under it is crushed there isnt any cracks in the top layer. But few glass chips floating around the front lens. The Phone did started seperating and I put a drop of glue on edge of screen and frame and held it in and its a still truckn. It works fine and I do got insurance with 200$ deductible for a refurbished phone from Phone Claim. Hey any idea how long that takes?. Replace the phone or is there another option out there to get it fixed?? I dont have any of those heating tools and not gonna make this my first replacment. Now the wifes S5 I may try it for a bit of exprience get things I need when its broke.

Screen Protectors and Repair for Minor Scratches

I just bought my nexus 6p, and have already dropped it twice D: I only caused minor scratches to the screen and back, but I was looking for a good screen protector to prevent further damage and cover the scratches that are already there. I had heard of some "liquid sapphire" coatings too that I would think would serve to repair the scratches, but I have no idea really where to start. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I can't imagine replacing the screen is easy, I can't begin to imagine the process. I am inclined just to cover it up with a protector for now

How many of you with scratches on screen?

Hi people!
For those without screen protection, how many of you with scratches on screen of the S7 flat?
No scratches on my S7
No scratches on my S5 with not even a case for almost 2 years
its not bout scratches its bout how well you take care of your phone because it comes with gorilla glass 4 so it shgould last if you take care of it.
Gorilla Glass 4 my ass. I baby my phones and have never scratched a screen until this one. Super disappointed with GG4 or Samsung's implementation...
I also take care of my phones VERY much, and can see some scratches visible on sunlight after 3 months. I never put my phone with something that can scratch it. But then again, I saw those little scratches on every phone I had. Good thing about older phones is that it wasn't so freaking hard to find a screen protector

When U live in Serbia, ordering things is a pain in the.. Neck
I have a friend that works in a larger phone accessory shop here, and he said that none of the protectors they have are full screen or that they always have bubbles.
Have U tried any? Maybe a suggestion so I know which protectors are good for ordering online.
I have a galaxy alpha with gorilla glass 4, and also have the small scratches.
These small scratches come from sand,dirt,dust that is harder than the screen and rubs against your phone in your pocket, these small scratches are unavoidable without screenprotector.
But these are small so they don't bother me, what worries me more is the back glass which is not GG4 and scratches more easy.

One day around month 3 I was removing the phone from my otter box case and with the littlest bit of flexing the back glass cracked horribly. I found this to be very annoying since this is supposed to be a "prime" quality phone with gorilla glass 4. I think it was more like gurly glass 4 as I bearly flexed the phone at all and am a very caring / gentle phone user and have owned many and never cracked a case/screen ever. My question is has anyone had broken glass, front or back replaced under samsungs warranty or am I crap outta luck? I called Samsung once and they said it's not covered. Since it was not outside of proper use I feel I was fed a line. Any help or suggestions? Very dissapointed in gorilla glass 4,and Samsung for placing it all over all sides of the gs7 in a very thin manner.
Makes me rethink if I'll ever purchase another Samsung again.

Hard or rigid protectors can't cover the whole screen because the edge has a bevel. I got an anti-glare matte screen protector and it works great

Well those back panels can be bought for like 13 bucks and can be easy to replace but you will lose the waterproof tho.

But I don't really want a rigid protector, I mean, i have been using plastic film protectors on all my phones, because I'm very gentle with them and just want to keep them from small pocket scratches. I just need a full screen one that will go over those 2.5d edges of the glass. I also don't like those matte protectors, they totally mess up the screen quality
I had 3 years SG S4 and only one little scratch. After 3 days having S7 I have already weird "graze" (is it correct word in English?) . Is not visible when screen is clean but dirt always stay in the same place. I'm VERY disappointed. Also afraid about home button made of plastic !
My first S7 edge had a super Deep scratch right on the screen curve, stay that for awhile before it turn in a crack going across the screen.

I bought a Fosmon screen protector for both mine and my wife's S7s and they fit really well. If you apply them correctly then you won't have any bubbles. I never use the guides or anything to put it on, I just go slowly and use a credit card to smooth out bumps. Cleaning your phone screen first with alcohol and a lint free wipe cuts down on anything left on the screen to cause bubbles.

That is not at all what I was asking. My question was has anybody had this issue and had it replaced under warranty? If so what did the process entail and what was said to get it done. I appreciate your comment as to boost your standings in the forums but if your info is not some of actual help you might wanna say nothing at all and let someone else answer the issue.

Since you went hostile... You might wanna to stop being a **** and start your own thread, for your own issue, instead of hijacking this thread. You broke your phone and that isn't a warranty issue, which Samsung already explained to you. He offered you info the help you quickly & easily fix your phone for very little $.
As for screen scratches on my S7, I don't have any so far. No screen protector either. I guess it's probably nerdy, but I carry my phone in a Nite-Ize holster, on my belt, and never in my pocket. So far, I've never scratched a screen on any of my phones since the OG Droid. I had a screen protector on my OG Droid, for a few months, but that's been the only one I've used.

What's your problem? Maybe you should just STFU then if you get mad bout people helping your dumb ass. You break your own phone and come in hete crying bout warranty while this treath is about scratches on the screen. So next time calm down or dont reply
Personally if your just using it day to day you wont see any scratches on your phone especially since the Galaxy S7 has gorilla glass 4. I would recommend a screen protector or even a glass screen protector if you are the type of person who chucks around their phone and doesn't really care about it.
You should be fine using it without a screen protector

Dust under screen

I haven't even had my Pixel for 2 months yet and already have a huge amount of dust inside the screen area.
It is NOT between the digitizer and screen protector, I peeled off and replaced the screen protector thinking that was the case but it is between the LCD and the digitizer!
I should note that I work in construction and I'm around dry wall dust all the time so I think it's drywall dust...
I'm just concerned that this is going to continue getting worse over time. I badly want to use compressed air to blow the dust out, but I'm afraid that attempting it will just blow more dust in.
Is there something defective about my phone or is it normal that it is apparently not sealed very well in the screen area?
I've had it in a case literally since day one, with a screen protector. I try to take good care of my phone's as I pay full retail so I don't lose my grandfathered unlimited data on VZW so I'm kind of upset that I'm going to have to replace my phone in a year when I can't see the screen anymore, not to mention a huge hit in the resale value of horribly dusty phone internals.
Anyone else having dust problems or should I try to contact Google?

Just as a follow-up to this..
I contacted Google about the dust issue, which has since gotten worse, and I just received an RMA number today.
They want me to factory reset and send the device in and they are (I'm assuming) just going to replace it with a new one.
I explained that I ordered the phone from someone else who had originally ordered it directly from Google.
They also confirmed I will be receiving a Google version of the phone (unlockable BL) and not a Verizon (Locked BL) version (Unlockable like the one I have)
I was told that the phone is "dust resistant" and that this is seemed strange to them, especially being that the phone is less than 2 months old. They actually specifically said "[they] were glad brought this issue to their attention" which kind of makes me think perhaps there is/was something weird with production on some batches?
Next I'll be buying a new case which boasts "Water & Dust Proof" and hoping that it's not incredibly bulky and has muffled audio as many dust/water-proof cases experience.
If anyone else experiences dust buildup under the digitizer, I highly recommend contacting Google and getting your device repaired/replaced. They included a pre-paid postage label and everything so its quite a painless procedure, outside of having to switch back to my S5 for a week or so.
Just my two cents since you're going to be looking for a new case. I've had mine in an OtterBox commuter case since the day I bought it and have had no issues with dust or damage. I use mine as a flashlight for attic/basement crawls as well as toss it in drywall dust piles constantly. I'm pretty hard on it and I've had zero issues. It's not as slim as I'd like of a case but it's not too bulky and seems to protect pretty good.

Perfect! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll see what I can find online. I have a few days before my new phone will be here so I will get one ordered so I can get my phone back in a case as soon as it arrives.
Do you also have a standalone screen protector on yours or does the OtterBox provide a built-in screen protector?

The defender comes with a screen protector but the case is huge. The commuter does not come with one. I used one of those tempered glass protectors for about a day but didn't like how the edges didn't stick fully down so I took it off and have been running naked since about November and no noticable scratches. If you have a Verizon store close by they should stock the commuter.

Question Pre-installed screen protector catchs scratches

Did you experience getting tiny scratches on the pre-installed protective film on the main screen?
I dont care much about the super tiny scratches but recently i got a small scratch that makes reflections in the white background, i have no idea where it came from as normally i am careful with my devices but it happened and it bothers me.
I know samsung doesnt recommend removing the screen protector, and i am not sure of it is a good idea to install one on an already existing one.
Appreciate sharing your experiences here.

Most of the protectors they sell aren't really compatible with the current one. They have a camera hole instead of a camera cutout, which prevents them from fully securing and they inevitably peel. If you can find one that follows the same design, it usually works. I've tested a second protector on theirs and had no issue beyond the gap above the camera that was causing it to peel.
That said, if you feel confident enough in your ability to replace the protector and in the protector you choose as a replacement, it should be alright. Samsung doesn't recommend removing it because the actual screen is not like Gorilla Glass that offers some level of protection from even the most minor damage.
The alternative would be to contact a local Samsung authorized repair shop (or Samsung support) and see if they replace the protector and the cost. Even if you manage to find out what protector they use to replace it, that would give you a good idea for what to get if you do it yourself.

I too had the same issue with my Z Flip 3 and I switched it to Gadgetshieldz screen protector and using it for 2 months now. It does provide good protection against scratches but also protects the display from edge to edge.

I have the Z Flip 3 5G. Received it from Samsung direct purchase late Aug, early Sept.
I now have a crack in the screen protector along the hinge. It's about 3/4 of the way across the screen.
T-Mobile said one store was an authorized repair center. CSR setup an appt for me. While I was driving to that store, I received an email that my appointment was cancelled. Store was not prepared to replace the screen protector. T-Mobile offers free lifetime replacement of the screen protector.
I also tried Geek Squad which is a Samsung authorized repair center. No joy. Also not prepared.
I've also been working with ubreakIfix. They have ordered what's needed from Samsung to perform the OEM repair. They do not yet have a shipment confirmation.
BTW, this is in the northern Denver suburbs.
I'd really prefer not to lose my warranty.
I know the employees vary from store to store and we are not dealing with the same people, but Geek Squad are the last people I would allow to do screen protectors. Unless Denver has the best standards in all of the Best Buy chain, they'll be doing it is in a room attached to a storage area on a mat that hasn't been wiped in months or, worse, right at an open counter on the main floor. This is also assuming you get someone that can put one on smooth. No offense to anyone that works there. Its how they designed the stores and the only real training is practice.
UBreakiFix has dedicated clean rooms at most of their locations and will have you inspect it before calling the job completed. You still might get the one that doesn't care, but they answer to Samsung directly.
I'm working at this place where you can buy phone accesories as well as used and brand new phones in the shopping mall in Poland.
I have at my disposal the best machine for cutting screen protectors on the Polish market, the screen protectors itself are really high quality. Want to know what is the really funny part?
A few weeks ago I called the company from which we have this machine to ask about the process of gluing foil to our phones and I found out that everything is as always, but I lose my warranty. I went to the Samsung website, chatted with one person, told everything and I was told that I should not replace the screen protector myself, but contact the authorized Samsung service center where they will exchange it for about 20 dollars. I did so, I called, asked and found out from an employee that they would replace the screen protector, but they can do it either for a fee or under a warranty, but they delete all data from the phone because they flash the latest software version. Fair enough.
The problem is, if I deliver phone to them in person, they would do it all within a maximum of two hours but unfortunately I can't go there so I have to send it to them and wait for it to be done and shipped back up to 14 business days
The bureaucracy of it all is frustrating. The service center here had to set my phone up to wipe it again to set it up to verify the repair because someone there had to wipe it.
