Question Screen burn in after just 1 day - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Anyone else seeing burn in problems with their GW4C?
I had it for just 1 day and this is the screen burn in I'm getting already.
Set to auto-brightness and AOD on.
There's also the issue of the 20mm band's not fitting, but that's another problem.

Wow, at first I thought it can't be, but your photos...
I guess you should get a replacement. Could it be a faulty screen?
I mean it looks like a bright AOD. Did you use it in a bright environment? But after 1 day, I think it should not look like this.

Working with Samsung to get a replacement (or I'll just return and buy a new one).
My guess is I just got a lemon. The AOD doesn't seem to dimmvery much at all. And it always seems to want to be much brighter than it needs to be (in comparison to all the other smartwatches I've owned)

This is the second report of this. I assume its a firmware bug. The screen should go to greyscale, dim and low refresh frequency. I guess it's not going into these three settings and killing the display. How embarrassing for Samsung!
Just tried both of mine and it is not right. The orange notification dot remains full brightness and saturated. AOD looks wrong to me.

Is the watch lugs being less than 20mm a wider issue? I don't have calipers to measure.
It would suck if I can't use all the bands I have ordered.

Seems to be pretty common.

just came to say, my watch did the same exact thing, as I mentioned on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyWatch/comments/pifha5
I am doing a warranty claim with Samsung for this.

After 3 days. AOD and auto-brightness.

wtf. these screens are broken.
screen lighting up where it should be black is kinda the opposite of oled "burn in"
let's hope the issue doesn't affect too many users

Hello. I have the same issue with gw 4

Any reports of the GW4 standard showing this problem or is it only on the Classic? They both use the same screen correct?

It really is a shame what poor quality samsung dares to ship out to customers!
But what makes me even more angry are all the fanboys that defend samsung no matter what and always try to blame users for their hardware and software issues even though it´s clear that it´s just a faulty/unfinished product...
In the other thread there really have been people blaming the user for their burn-in issues for "setting the brightness wrong"... On a finished device there should never be a user setting that could damage a device permanently....

Yeah. I love how these guys are trying to blame us. My watch was set to the default display settings with AOD on. My GW and GW3 had the same settings and never had this problem. This is my 4th smart watch, first being that LG one that came out in like 2016

Samsung just sent me an email saying they are shipping my device back unrepaired. I'm trying to find out what the hell is going on.
EDIT: Samsung sent that email automated because they determined to just send me a brand new replacement.

I have a status update. Samsung will not replace the watch, they are only offering me a refund. I'm livid at this.

Ummm, so you take the refund and buy a new watch. What's the difference?

My watchface of my gw4 classic literally burn in in 5 hours with AOD and automatic brightness. I also got called from 1000000
But I contacted Samsung and they told that I can send the watch back and receive a brand new one

What's the cause of the problem and if there's any advice?
I can't RMA cause it bought it from another person

Are you talking about the variation in the backlight? That's not uncommon, it's just the degree that can become an issue. If it really bothers you you could try calling Google, they may still honor the warranty if it was purchased from them originally.

They're also not likely to fix anything, pixels being a hardware issue. Though some have claimed it's worked for them I would argue the validity of those claims.
If software could fix pixels, I think there would be recorded evidence of such by now.

You can absolutely fix stuck pixels by cycling colors on an LCD display. Dead pixels cannot be fixed.

I've personally fixed a stuck pixel via jScreenFix.

I guess it might be possible in rare cases where maybe it would have fixed itself over time anyways. Never worked with stuck pixels in my experience, however.
I just find it suspicious that there are 100's of websites talking about how to attempt it, but no recorded evidence of it actually working. It seems almost like an LCD industry conspiracy, but I guess I'm just a skeptic at heart.

The LCD industry conspiracy would be the fact that there's been no real study on it. They want you to buy a new screen/phone rather than have an option to fix your display with no cost to the user.

Guess I never saw it that way. Phones can be returned for stuck pixels, though generally any LCD monitor will need 5-7 broken pixels to qualify for RMA. This makes buyers such as myself wary of spending hundreds of dollars on a potential defective screen that most likely will never be fixed.
However, If there was a misconception that the issue could be solved via software, buyer confidence would be higher and potentially lead to more sales.

If someone is aware the product they're buying has a relatively high chance of arriving defective, and that they have zero options to fix or return the product, who in their right mind wouldn't think twice about making that purchase?

That logic only works assuming there's an alternative. Every laptop/tablet/ereader/smartphone uses LCD, AMOLED or eInk technology, and all of them have a chance of having dead or stuck pixels. If you want to own a laptop/tablet/ereader/smartphone you have to deal with the possibility of it shipping with or later developing dead or stuck pixels.
It's all irrelevant though because very few companies still require large numbers of dead/stuck pixels on a new device. Lenovo, HP and Dell all have no-questions-asked return/exchange policies now, so they will replace a device for a single dead pixel. Asus was one of the first to implement a specific no dead/stuck pixel policy. Most retailers will exchange a device for a single dead pixel, including Google.
What I was referencing originally though was more about developing dead/stuck pixels after purchase, and possibly after the warranty has expired. If there were an easy way to fix stuck pixels that would stop some people from buying new devices.
I have something similar lighting issues just like OP. But for me the right half of the righ of the screen brighter and there is a bigger bright area at the bottom right. It really anoys me that I payed for 550 usd for a phone and the screen is just like that .
Tapatalk-kal küldve az én GT-P1000-el

wheres the line

i see all these people on here saying theyre going to return or exchange their S6. i have a note 4 and it prbly has half the things theyre returning their S6 for, honestly i never bothered to check. my note 4 does have bad lag, that other ppl suppousedly dnt have, but i missed my return date waiting for a patch/upgrade to fix my lag.
i totally understand paying $600+ on a phone and wanting a good working phone but as a samsung fan whos gotten flawed phone after flawed phone ive accepted the fact that im never going to get a perfect phone. so my question is where do you all draw the limit? or are u wanting that perfect phone.
list of the flawed sammys
S3: found out it couldnt read memory cards after return date (got a refurb s3 that could read memory cards)
s5: antenna problems (started having rly slow internet)
note 4: phone lags badly.
I think people just want a phone that doesn't arrived to their door already scratched, or with a 24 hour led light on, or in my case, a charger that doesn't charge the phone out of the box.
Have a reorder processing as we speak. Software issues are absolutely nuts (auto brightness turning on/off on its own, Samsung keyboard keeps reactivating, MMS not working, etc) and there's something VERY wrong when I can reboot the phone, turn on *only* Google Maps and Pandora, and the phone runs out of memory, closing Pandora down. I mean, what the ****, Samsung?
I doubt the new phone will fix these issues, and I think I'm just going back to my Nexus 5.

It will, those issues are not normal. My phone shows none of those.
However, I have a scratch under the top bezel of my glass and the Always on LED on the flash so I am going to get a replacement.

Yeah, if my replacement device shows up tonight and has ANY defect, this is just going to be a straight return, and I'll wait for another model. I mean, I am a Samsung avoider usually. I tend to not like how they do business, how they advertise, the products they put out... The S6 looked THAT good to me, that I would put my history with them behind. If I get 2 defective phones in a row (and I mean this new one needs to be PERFECT) it's going right back and I'll wait for the '15 Moto X or something. Maybe the G4.
entropism said:

The good news is, there were no defects. The bad news is because there was no phone. It was on the UPS truck to be delivered on the 8th, and returned to the depot around 12AM. It never left the depot on the 9th, even though UPS swore up and down that it was out for delivery. Contacted T-Mobile, they contacted UPS, confirmed it was lost. Now, here's the kicker: T-Mobile left me a voicemail saying *I* had to file a claim with UPS to make things right. Called them right the **** back and told them it wasn't my responsibility. They're shipping another out tomorrow. Who knows when I'll get it?

Vertical line on Gear S2 Classic display

I recently bought a Gear s2 classic and just noticed it has a very small vertical black line on the display. It's only probably a pixel wide and it runs up and down the screen a few mm left of center. I first noticed it on solid backgrounds such as the weather app. You have to look pretty close to notice it, but it's definitely there. Also, once you see it you cannot un see it! You can also see it on some of the watch faces that have sold color backgrounds. It is unnoticeable on darker or black backgrounds. I returned the watch and bought another Gear S2. Same problem. It has that small line in the exact same place! Am I super unlucky? Do you think this is some display defect? Is it just a normal part of the display? Has anyone else seen this issue? Again, you have to look close, I didn't notice it from far away.
Getting a third Gear S2 classic in the mail tomorrow! We'll see if it has the same issue.
I just have the regular S2, but checked on the blue "add city" Weather widget screen using 3x magnifying glasses. I have no line(s) whatsoever. Seems like you did get unlucky, twice.

I guess so! I Took a pic of it with my phone. Exact same place on both Classics. I had a regular Gear S2 and never noticed the line. The line is vertical right in between the zero.

In case anyone was curious, I just received my third Gear S2 classic. It has the same line in exactly the same place. However, It is not quite as dark this time. I bet all the displays have the same issue. It might be part of the manufacturing process? This also may only be an issue on the Classic models, as I haven't seen a regular model with the line yet. If you have a classic take a real close look at the display. I have a hard time believing i'm the only person with this issue. Especially since the issue is the same on 3 different watches from different stores! (Macy's, Best Buy, Amazon)
Photo ?
I'm too new on here to post links/photos... Can I PM you a photo? I took a good one of it actually.

Thanks for the photo. I just rechecked my regular S2 with brightness at 5 and 10 on the add city weather screen wearing 3x magnifying glasses and I definitely do not have that line where you do, or anywhere else. That sucks!
Thanks for looking into it again. I still think this is just a problem with the Classic models. I've had 2 regular models (one for me and my GF) and both of those did not have the defect. I have yet to see it on a regular model. Classic number 4 is arriving today. If it has the defective display I'll probably just keep it.. Sigh. I'll definitely be contacting Samsung however!
Good news! My 4th Gear S2 Classic doesn't have the line! ? That's a lot of defective watches! I'm a happy camper! Just put my metal band on and I'm returning the last defective watch to Amazon.
I have the defect vertical line on my gear s2 and returning mine today. I happened to notice it this weekend and found this post.
I have the same line in my standard model which I received today
My gs2 classic has the same line in the same place. Ive tried the pixel repair app but with no satisfaction. If you find a way to fix it let me know. Other than the line i have no problems with the watch.

I too have the same problem, except mine has two vertical parallel lines approximately 12mm apart and straddling the centre of the display
I thought it was part of the Design, however now you guys have the same I think not
Could you advise where to get the pixel repair app.?
I have an Gear S2 Sport for 11 days, today I saw 1 stuck pixel (i guess it was a group pixels, but after some time just 1 left). Yes, it isn't vertical line, but It's annoying too much. I tried to run pixel repair for not a long time, maybe 5-7 minutes at all, but nothing.

I don't need the pixel repairer now because , on Sunday I sent mine back through Curry's and the new one came yesterday, I am glad to report there are no lines or issues, really pleased I didn't get another one that had issue's
I have had a lot of bad luck, this is the fourth and final one, very happy.
1st 1 was off internet S2 sport, supposed to be new, but was locked to someone's Samsung account. (got refund)
2nd was new from curry's S2 Sport, went back after 1 week when I noticed the strap delaminating from clasp.
3rd bought from curry's was the classic upgrade to get rid of strap problems of sport. sent back due to line problem on screen.
4th Replacement Classic, perfect in all aspects. I think I'll be ok now finally. £299.00 later (excluding 4 bands & screen protector) which set me back a further £135. there is a new strap out, A Ceramic one by Samsung not available except in France for about £100 I gotta have it too.
On my 4th watch now..The display was perfect until just recently. The SAME LINE developed in the SAME SPOT! Apparently this must be a wide spread defect, because my display didn't have it, but now it does. It's not as dark as the first watch, but I have a feeling it gets worse. I bet many people have the same problem, they just haven't noticed it yet! I can't unsee the line! I wish I hadn't randomly decided to look for it.
I've got exactly the same line as you've described on my Gear S2 classic. I've got the watch almost 6 months back but noticed this line only recently. So I don't know if this line has developed over time or was there the entire time
Besides this issue (and another issue with the loss of paint on a side button) I do love this watch. But this lack of qualtity is very annoying - especially while looking at the price of the device

Help! Gear S3 Screen is Dead/Pixelated After 1 Week

So everything on my Gear S3 works beautifully except I have a major problem where the screen is pixelated/dead.
I believe all the functionality works because I am able to start/turn off the watch by feeling the vibration.

I have only gotten the watch for 1 week.
3 weeks on, never encounter such a problem. You should return it for a new one.

This happened to mine when I applied a watchface from Watchmaster app. It was fixed by holding the power for 7 secs and rebooting. I think it might have been caused by a duplicate watch face. Is yours working okay?

Unfortunately it did not work no matter how many times I reboot or held the power button. I returned it to the shop for a replacement so have a new one. I am afraid to install any non Samsung watch faces now... I mean it's pretty poor to have a watch face able to make your whole watch unusable.
PS. I didn't install the WatchMaster app but had a few watch faces from WatchMaster.
Hey i don't think u should be afraid to try out non samsung apps. U probably had a defective unit. Do not worry about it much and enjoy your watch. In any case, u have a warranty.

I have the Classic and Frontier, have had to get both replaced. The Frontier had bad QC, there was as side that was missing paint, you can see the silver stainless steel under. The Classic had scratches as well, out of the box. These weren't egregious issues by any means, but I am tired of paying full price and not getting a product free from defects and that is why I decided to swap them out, Amazon sent replacements and I sent the defective ones back.
I have had every Samsung phone since the S1. When they were all plastic it didn't matter much, but as Samsung started to use glass and materials (also more expensive materials, so destroying it for a minor defect costs them a lot more $$) they aren't accustomed to, their QC suffered. For example, I got my wife and myself a pair of S7 Edges. Mine had a small divot (pin sized) on the front screen out of the box and my wife's had a deep scratch on the back glass, again out of the box. The only reason I didn't return or swap out the phones was because they were sold out and phones get scratched up quickly anyway.
Samsung has more QC issues than other OEMs and if you haven't experienced them then good for you, but I have, especially in my recent purchases.
I love Samsung products, but welcome to the Samsung experience.

I have the same issue with dead pixels around the 12. Purchased it from Best Buy and their recommendation was to take it back to the store for Factory repair. I wonder how long that will take?
Same here, I bought it from ebay Lte Att version. I believe common issue.

About a month ago, i bought a unit of Gear S3 and it works fine until recently this exact problem occured. I sent it back to the service center twice for them to switch the board at first, and the display for the second time. It's been a day after that and so far so good.
Hi all,
My s3 watch screen turned green complet3ly. I can barely see any apps on it. Need to look really sharp to see where is to power it off on the screen.
What to do?
Thanks

Reddish Hue Screen Color Normal ? Return this device ?

Hi Guys,
Need some advice. Just picked up a galaxy s8 plus for my personal device. I had one already for work. Noticed the work device has a much cooler screen and looks more white to me. Noticed the S8 plus i picked up for my personal has a redder hue to it. I tweaked the different modes in display but the personal device just cant get as cool or white as the work device I have. The work device (Left) is the US Snapdragon model and the personal ( right) is the international exynos model. Is this hue worth returning over or is this variation in screens normal. Looked at a Note 8 i have and it resembles the work device and is cooler and whiter as well. Any ways i can get the whites the same on my personal device ? Coincidentally the device on the right was manufactured 4/27/2017 while the device on the left was made 3/23/2017. I have also tried the display tweaks and the *#15987# trick.

Return it. That's how my first looked, and no matter how I adjust the tone, it couldn't get white. My replacement is normal. I almost kept the first thinking it's normal per the number of reports I've seen about it, but I'm so glad I exchanged it.
Thanks for the feedback

Just to rule it out, you don't have the Blue Light filter on right?

red tint is a common issue on Samsung amoled displays! I had to exchange my device 6 times (!!) to get a decent screen, just look at my posts regarding that!

Nvm
I'd keep it. Looks better than your other one. Definitely more natural
I own a small repair shop and actually had a client with this issue last week. Unfortunately for her, the phone was bought from eBay and it didn't had any warranty, so she couldn't ask for a replacement, thus coming to my shop. I kept looking for a solution all day long, but she eventually sold it.
Thanks

Hopefully they remedy eventually. Was reading and some Note 8's even have the same issue. Guess you have to get used to it.
I would stick with basic. It is what everything but HDR content is supposed to be viewed in.
That yellowish tint is totally normal and how it should be. The phone you have pictured on the left has way too cool of an image.

had to go through about 4 exchanges when the iPhone SE came out due to yellowing on the display, so i feel your pain of going through the hassle of having to exchange 6! fortunately, i lucked out with the S8+ and the first replacement is perfect.
