Hi all,
Possibly a broken record but haven't read anything that helps. Friend has a S8 with a completely shattered screen. It has power. I need to enable USB Debugging but not working out. All of the solutions I'm finding seem to presume you can see on the screen just not interact with it. Re: ADB, I'm sure using the volume rockers and buttons might work, but without being able to see what's on the screen, I'm pushing buttons blindly.
I tried Kies but it's stuck in "Connecting" and never connects. I've tried multiple USB ports, cables and even 3 dif machines. No go. All 3 machines (Win 10 x 2 and a Win 7) can identify the device and connect, but without USB Debug enabled, it's pointless. I've tried screen mirroring software to put the S8 screen on my PC but I've had no success getting that to work.
The screen does have a code and I've got a USB-to-USB C adapter so I should be fine with connecting a USB keyboard to the phone to unlock it, but again, without being able to see the screen, I'm shooting in the dark.
Any assistance is appreciated.

I've had my S3 for a while, rooted & was running KOPA. Decided for a change so I loaded up CM10 . In the process I realized that no computer will recognize my S3. My phone will charge from a USB port, but it won't even give me a unrecognized hardware message. It's like nothing is hooked up. I've tried it on 3 different computers, two with USB drivers installed, one without. Also on two different USB cables. I'm worried I that some how damaged the data connection on my phone. The problem is, I cant even factory default it via Oden without a operating USB cable. Very aggravating. Any thoughts?
Try to turn off debugging

Same thing happened to me(several times)..restarted my computer then it worked

Samsung made horrible USB Drivers for this device.
Try one of the following:
1. Remove the USB Cable from both the Computer and The device
2. Plug it in to a different port
1. Uninstall the drivers for SAMSUNG USB MOBILE DEVICES (or something similar) in the control panel
2. Plug in the device and wait for generic MTP drivers to install
1. Use the Camera Mode on the MTP options in the Notification Bar
2. Plug in device to computer; however if transfering ZIPS, it may fail so you'll have to resort to the other steps.
Good luck!
- Rebooting the device and computer can also fix it.
- And these fixes ARE NOT permanent.
I have had good luck with the Xperia x8 drivers. Been using them for weeks.

Sorry, I saw the Q&A section after I posted.
- USB debugging is off
- Tried restarting
- Tried uninstalling / re-installing drivers. Also tried uninstalling and plugging it in without the drivers to see if it would recognize the device
- Fast charge is not option in CM10 as far as I can tell
- Tried every USB port in ever computer I have available to me. plus 2 different USB cables.
I've had this happen frequently recently. What I noticed fixes it is booting into Downloader mode (hold down Home + Volume Down while turning the device on). Once in Download mode, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or so and the device should restart. USB connected fine afterward.
Problem solved. Looks like it is a Hardware issue. Tried one more USB cable. Figured out that if I wiggle the cable and push it as far right as it can go I get a connection. I've never liked how loose the USB port is & think it is part of the reason it is now damaged. I will be getting a touch stone to preserve the connection as long as I can. Thanks a lot for all the help.
Hi all, can anyone help? I smashed my phone at the weekend and really want to get back in to it if only to turn on contacts sync and see who keeps texting me, but for some reason USB debugging isn't on. Phone is stock.
Plugging in with USB = recognised in device manager as Xperia Z3. I've tried to download Android SDK, and install the USB drivers from the Sony website (says best driver already installed - the ones from the Sony website don't have any kind of installation program so not sure what I'm supposed to do with them!).
I know this isn't easy but can anyone guide me through getting in to it and getting USB debugging on so I can use Android Control? It seems I need to get the phone in to recovery mode so that it automatically enables USB debugging? If I hold down power/volume up a few times or in a weird combination, the LED goes blue and the phone comes up in device manager as 's1boot' and then 's1boot fastboot'. I've tried installing the drivers I've found from DooMLoRD but they don't help me access the phone at all, it still says unable to find the device. adb devices from the adb folder command prompt says no devices (i presume because USB debugging still disabled). I feel like I have made progress but need a bit more progress still to get in, if it is at all possible!
New thread because I can't find anyone with a Sony Xperia Z3 trying this, with the same steps taken/blue LED etc.
USB OTG+ USB mouse
Try to use USB OTG+USB mouse, that did the trick for me
no display whatsoever... so having a mouse isn't going to help me sadly! unless i can get the screen displayed on a computer monitor or something?
I have searched on how to enable usb debugging in the forums for a broken screen but most if not all of them are for other devices and require flashing a custom rom (although i have no idea how to do that CWM? Odin????). Is it possible to enable us debugging for a sony Z2 Device under these conditions?
1. Broken Screen (touch screen irresponsive)
2. Stock Rom, No recovery menu (tried power on and volume button and also tried flashtool with volume button hold and only black screen came out but i have no idea what i am doing actually)
3. NO usb debugging.
Another method i actually seen other people using is to use an usb mouse to connect to the phone. Will the phone automatically register the mouse or must there be some 3rd party enabled on it (which in this case seems useless already)
Any help will be deeply appreciated and thank you for your help in advance. Repairing will cost quite alot of money (enough to get a new decent phone) so i wanted to extract the data out of the phone before i get a new phone.
There is also something post by other members such as in this thread and with code. How can i enter the code into my phone..?

Sorry i am extremely noob at phone stuff but i really have no idea what is happening and i really really need help
So my new S7 's screen is completely dead. I can see the soft buttons light up and I've been trying to swipe but I can't. I was going to try to screen mirror to my Fire TV (by looking at a vid and hopefully hitting the right places to get it to connect) but the screen isn't passing any input.
So my next thought was to get a USB OTG cable and a mouse, although I have no idea how fast the pointer will move making guess the steps to connect really hard. I was also looking at chrome extension Vysor, but again, it need debugging enabled (which isn't) on the phone for it to work. Apparently sammy discontinued MHL support so there's no way to just plug in to in a TV with a cable,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can force access on the phone to get a backup? Again, I need something that will let me see the screen, preferably in as little steps as possible (the more menus I have to navigate, the less likely I'll be able to blindly fumble my way through)
Thanks!
Anyone?````
same situation here, not much resources out there. Is your phone still connected to your wifi? mine is not so I can't get google play to install apps to it.
If you can though...
Samsung SideSync was recommended on another forum, similar to vysor but might work wirelessly for you
Good luck, and please let me know if you find a solution. I might by vysor to try wireless (they haven't answered me whether or not wireless version by passes the need for usb debugging)

If it's turning on (except by the screen) you can use Smart Switch or Kies to recover your data.

OR You can use FIND MY MOBILE if you registered a Samsung account to unlock remotely and use USB.

I'm trying to help a relative with a broken screen Samsung who did NOT enable Developer options USB debugging.
I searched over 200 XDA threads with the same problem set, where the answer seems to be always the same.
If you didn't turn on USB debugging, you can't turn it on after the fact
However... I'm a firm believer that there is (almost) always a workaround...
For example, what happens if you connect Android to Linux over USB?
I don't have Linux but someone out there might who can run this test and answer the question.
Q: Can you access Android storage from Linux even if you did NOT turn on USB Debugging?
what should happen? same as in windows - nothing. you might have better luck connecting it to TV
