This mode was accidentally entered when I'm trying to boot my htc hd7 and press camera button together with volume up (around 20sec while the phone booting). For your information, my htc hd7 having problem with zune application and my device manager recognize it as unknown devices (yellow exclamation mark).
It was caused when I've sideloading USBModeSwitch.xap and change from ZUNE to DIAG mode. After the phone restarting, the apps has been revoke then i've no chances to install the apps again to fix it back to ZUNE mode.
Now the phone can operate as usual but cannot recognize by zune (yellow exlamation mark in device manager in PC).
The good news is, the phone had recognized by pc when entering this mode. and the devices manager detect the phone under Portable Devices -> Schubert. Can we sideloading apps using this mode? If yes... it was a good news for those having the same problem with me. But the question is.. HOW.
Note: After the incident, I already flash the phone. but still unable to be detected by ZUNE Desktop in normal state. it can operate, can install from market place as usual but cannot sync with zune desktop. Can somebody help me on this? Sorry for my English. You may refer with my attachment for the images and the XAP application.
Note 2: Never try the USBModeSwitch.xap if your phone is not fully unlock or will facing the same problem with me. hope someone can fix this issue. because lot of friends are stuck in this doom.
same problem here....
an hd7 too...
First, are your phones unlocked? I assume they are. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to deploy this USB-whatever.xap.
You may try deploying smth after running WPConnect (Phone has to be connected already). This small consoleapp does some funny stuff with the phone/PC connection. So maybe your devices will be recognized this way.
Best you start WPConnect from commandline, to have a look at the output, which should be smth like "[Devicename] successfuly connected..." or such.
C~
tried it, doesn't help
the phone is not unlocked anymore... that is the problem in my case ;-)
but i was able to install the HTC Diagnostic Drivers...
but i dont know if i can use it to disable Diag-Mode...
And you are not able to re-unlock your phone (via official or Chevron)? Have you tried to unlock after connecting - closing Zune - running WPConnect?
This is just a mere guess, but hey, who knows it maybe work
we cannot lock our devices as neither zune nor WPConnect realize that the phone is connected (because of it is in Diagnostic-Mode)
but thanks for your reply ;-)

Yup that's true. I try to used ansar ROM, flash it, but nothing change. I wonder if we can custom a rom and implement the extract file of USBModeswitch.xap to the rom. so that the phone will boot with usbmodeswitch installed in it, using this step, we're able to switch the mode from diag back to zune.
This the final technique might can help for now. For the ROM, i can only break/extract until I've got the 2 OS file:- 2_os.nb.extra (±2.4MB) and the other one is 2_os.nb.payload (±181MB). Ok, until then, I was stuck. if not... we can extract the XAP directly to the OS folder, then repacking back the ROM. the 2_os.nb.payload file was unable to extract to bin file. Error shown:- "no boot partition". Maybe I'm using the old WinMo tools to extract it.
ahhh.... gosh... stuck in this step. any help and guide will be much appreciated.

Hi,
from your writing i can read that you have the needed knowledge to make this thing...
so how long do you think will it take to get the two files...
and if you get these files, how can we flash that ROM without HSPL or SSPL?
thanks for your answer ;-)
our problem is... there's still no kitchen for WP7 (temporary). So.. we have to wait Da_G or Ansar.Ath.Gr work. they might have some tools that can help us. I knew.. lot of our friend already stuck in this mode as well. So... there's no sync with zune for us... no music transfer via usb.. and we have to forget all the thing that we can do using the USB cable except for charging it. lol~ how sick...
yeah...
i can only listen to radio in the morning when i drive to school...
i hate the most of the breakfast-shows
i have another idea instead of waiting for an C-ROM...
but that is only possible with a clean, Chevron-Unlocked and USB-Switch installed WP7 phone...
so nothing personally...
and we need to wait for the update...
the whole clean system would be backed up and could be used for our WP7 devices to get the USBSwitch-App onto our phone (holding camera-key when starting to install backup)
would be great if there is anybody who makes it...
hi
ask the autor of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922000
maybe he can help ,his tool use usbmodeswitch.
im active in his thread too, but he didn't answer at all...
I have actally done this myself sadly the only option I had was to sync all my contacts with Windowslive and reset the HD7 by holding both volume keys while powering it on from a cold boot.

can you tell me what rom was on the phone and what rom you flashed After you F*****up your phone ?
I want to know what Radio was on it , I think that tool does something with the radio rom on the phone , it could help the flash an older rom using a goldcard with an older radiorom in it.
edit:
maybe it is the spl , try to flash a rom with a lower/higher spl number.

I've sensation Xe which has problem. This device was given me as a gift from one of my friend.
The main problem with this device is pc doesnot recognize it. I've tried with 3 pcs, different cables, factory reset,
changed micro sd card, checked the device in usb mode, checked ask me before connecting device etc, i mean every possible
solutions out there.. My main concentration is even when i try new pc there is no response from pc like any sound or like
installing driver for pc.
The device charges through usb. I've installed latest htc sync for my device.
I've heard about usb bricking but i don't know whether it is related to my problem,. Every thing ,except connection with pc , is
working fine.
And other thing is my phone is s-on, unrooted, locked bootloader, lates ics 4.0.3, 1.27.00, stock recovery.
My phone is never rooted or unlocked , so my guess is my friend updated to ics through ota.
Now beside solution to above related problem , it'll be kind if anyone help me with a guide to
flash custom rom, it may help to sort my problem. Pls remember to flash custom rom
i need to do something before like unlock bootloader s-off etc. As usb is not working in my device, so i think
flashing custom rom in my situation is little difficult. please help me to get ot of this problem.
Sorry for my bad englist as english is not my mother tounge.
You could always put the sdcard into a card reader or another phone, copy the files across then apply the update? Could be a corrupt MISC partition (IIRC) this used to happen on the Legend.
To apply an update you would have to extract rom.zip from a RUU. To do this you need to download a RUU and run it (with no phone connected) open task manager on windows (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) look out for ARUwizard.exe, go through the RUU clicking next untill the ARUwizard pops up then right click it, choose open file location and scroll down to ROM.zip copy this file to desktop. Rename it to PG58IMG.zip make sure its not PG58IMG.zip.zip as that wont work. Copy to sdcard then turn phone on using power and volume down, it will scan the sdcard (hopefully) find the file and start updating. A reflash could well repair the problem

Hi,
You can flash custom ROM with s-on.
Look HERE
Try installing THESE DRIVERS then see if your pc recognizes your phone.
Check my signature for many links to s-offing ,if you want to go that way.

Hi. I was wondering, is there any way I could get custom accent colors for tiles on my HTC 1st. generation device? It is interop unlocked, couldn't get it fully unlocked :/ I tried deploying some .xap files like WP7 Root tools and Advanced config, but I get this error when deploying a .xap, Error - 0x81030120. Current accent colors are a little bit boring, so... I am new when it comes to this :/ Thanks.

I do want, but whenever I try to, I get to some step and it says that my phone isn't connected to computer when it clearly is. Can you give me a link to mango ROM's [fully unlocked, right?] for HTC 7 Trophy? I can't do HSPL/RSPL for the reason mentioned above.
You should be able to flash HSPL and then custom rom to your 1st gen HTC device. If you follow all steps correctly it should not be a problem. You entered manually to bootloader and you have installed WMDC to your PC (Windows Mobile Device Center)?
I suggest you go back to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=812 the Trophy section, find out where you made a mistake and try to get HSPL installed. When that is done you can flash fully unlocked custom rom.

for some reason, it's not working, I follow all these steps and I get an error when i try to HSPL in bootloader, but I get no "USB" word at the white area below on screen :/ And, I get this message in HSPL tool: I tried to reboot it, and yes, I have WMDC installed. But even on WMDC it states that my phone is not connected I can easily connect my phone to computer, but only when it's not in bootloader, and everything works, zune, app deployment..
[Error Description]:
Please make sure that your device connected to computer.
also make sure that right drivers are installed (they comes with WMDC / AS usually)
Try to connect device to different USB port and also you can try to reboot PC.
[Info]: USBWorkRSPL.cpp (184)
I even tried RSPL, but no results that device is connected to computer
For me this seems like a problem on your PC side. Im not a guru or anything, but what I would try to do is:
1. Uninstall WMDC and Zune
2. Run CCleaner or similar cleanup utility to remove crap thats left behind.
3. Download new packages to re-install WMDC and Zune.
4. Use another USB port and remove all other USB devices (I remember sometimes even usb mouse on a laptop has caused irratic behaviour)
5. Use different USB-cable
6. If you have messed around with your USB-port settings at somepoint (maybe when doing something else) these would need to be restored to default.
7. Try to get connection again.
If these steps would not work, I would try to flash using another computer, friends, mothers, etc... I would questimate that the problem has to be on your PC side as you cant establish connection. This would be naturally confirmed by testing to flash on other system.
Edit: Also, could your firewall be blocking the connection?
I found an old S2 while cleaning out my house. I had forgotten the passcode on the phone, as well as the google account I used. I put the phone in recovery mode and tried to factory reset it. Whilst figuring out how to factory reset it, I accidentally deleted the ROM .
Now, I want to flash a new ROM onto the phone, but when I connect my phone to my computer (running Windows 10), the device does not show up in the file manager, but it does charge. I have downloaded the most recent USB drivers and also downloaded the Kies software, but still no luck. When I open the device manager, the phone shows up as "SAMSUNG-SGH-I727", and there is a yellow exclamation warning sign beside it. In Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers, the device shows up as "Unspecified".
I have no idea how to flash a ROM back onto this as I am not very familiar with that stuff. I realize that I made a very stupid mistake, please help.

Can you still get into recovery and can you get an ADB connection? And I've had issues with Windows drivers, try using a Mac (if you don't have one, ask a friend to borrow it ) and adb push or adb sideload the ROM.
I managed to fix myself out of a crazy softbrick where recovery wouldn't recognize partitions and adb shell was unauthorized except in sideload mode. I managed to fix it on my mac.
Hey guys - Need some help if anyone can lend a hand!
I have a Pixel 4a that is stuck in bootloop. I have tried sideloading OTA but no dice. I also am unsure I can do a "pull" etc because the phone was not in dev mode, nor was it rooted, or had the bootloader unlocked.
I'm just looking for any way to grab my photos and videos before reseting the thing. Is it possible to pull the data? Or maybe to flash it without unlocking bootloader or wiping the data?
Any ideas?? Thanks!
Because the Pixel 4a is OTG-enabled you can see phone's user-data on PC and copy them to PC. All You need is an USB-OTG-Adapter-cable - what by default comes with the phone.

Interesting..okay I am looking into this. I don't see the phone pop-up on device manager etc when I insert it though. I will try to grab some drivers, although I did already install some recently.
I do see "android Bootloader Interface under Android Device in Device Manager, but still trying to find a way to access its data...
Still kinda stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Could custom recovery work if I don't have bootloader unlocked nor root access?
I'm interested in the solution of accessing the files with my OTG usb, but not sure how to go about doing that.
Thanks!
