I found an old S2 while cleaning out my house. I had forgotten the passcode on the phone, as well as the google account I used. I put the phone in recovery mode and tried to factory reset it. Whilst figuring out how to factory reset it, I accidentally deleted the ROM .
Now, I want to flash a new ROM onto the phone, but when I connect my phone to my computer (running Windows 10), the device does not show up in the file manager, but it does charge. I have downloaded the most recent USB drivers and also downloaded the Kies software, but still no luck. When I open the device manager, the phone shows up as "SAMSUNG-SGH-I727", and there is a yellow exclamation warning sign beside it. In Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers, the device shows up as "Unspecified".
I have no idea how to flash a ROM back onto this as I am not very familiar with that stuff. I realize that I made a very stupid mistake, please help.

Can you still get into recovery and can you get an ADB connection? And I've had issues with Windows drivers, try using a Mac (if you don't have one, ask a friend to borrow it ) and adb push or adb sideload the ROM.
I managed to fix myself out of a crazy softbrick where recovery wouldn't recognize partitions and adb shell was unauthorized except in sideload mode. I managed to fix it on my mac.

Hello,
Few months ago , the power button of my nexus s had broken. I used volume rocker and I could turn on the screen.
Today I tried to flash a rom . I have done this before many times and I know the process.
After I had wiped all the data ( system , faxtory reset, cache) , I pulled off the battery.
When the phone starts it stucks on google logo , because there is no rom in it.
When I boot it into the fastboot mode , my pc cannot recognize it at all, I plug it in my pc and there is no sign that a new hardware has been installed.
I don't know what else to do. If I could get it recognized by my pc , I would be able to silve the problem.
Any suggestions on how can I fix it? Can I fix the fastboot mode problem????
Thanks for your time
I am looking forward hearing your replies...
If you don't have this installed on your PC already, you should install it and follow the directions for installing the drivers carefully. It worked for me.
P.S. this thread belongs in Q&A
Thanks for the reply but it cannot do anything. I posted here so as I can get help from developers who know more stuff than other users.
unless your thread is about ANDROID DEVELOPMENT ... IE your own ROM / KERNEL / MOD etc... it should be in q and a or general.
OP that is not how it works, posting in the Development Section because you believe the help is great there....WRONG! Sir, you will find the best help is in the proper place in the proper Threads....Please familiarize yourself with the Forum Rules on Posting. Thank You and Moved here.
When you connect your phone to your PC while it's in fastboot mode, if you haven't tried already, go to device manager (assuming your pc is running windows), there should be an unrecognized device in the list, if so you can right click on it and choose update driver, then select driver manually and navigate to the data/drivers folder where ever you have Wug's tool installed (if you don't have it installed then you should), that should properly install the drivers and allow your computer to recognize the phone, then you can use the flash stock+unroot option to repair your phone.
If you don't see any change in device manager when your phone is connected to your computer then I can't help much, maybe try a different usb port if you haven't already.
Good luck

So after trying to find a straightforward guide for installing the USB drivers for my OPO, almost every link says to use the OnePlus One toolkit, so I followed the 'manage drivers' section of the toolkit but for some reason, whenever I come to use my phone with my PC, the drivers seem to wipe themselves out! After I've done the initial driver installation, everything works fine, but after a day or 2, when when I plug my phone in, it will show 'unknown device' or it will show 'A0001' but with an exclamation mark next to it in the device manager and my phone isn't recognized. I'm using windows 7 x64 and the original red OPO cable.
I must be doing something wrong with these drivers, does anyone have a guide for deleting old drivers and reinstalling drivers for the OPO?
Edit: Ive reinstalled them again using the toolkit guide but I dont know if they will keep again, either way, im flashing blisspop now, maybe its an issue with 5.0 stock rom or something?

I had similar issue with lollipop ROMs, didn't find any solution except flashing fastboot images of CMOS12 or simply downgrading to CM11S.

Fair enough, well i'm thinking I may move back to CM11S if things don't work out on Blisspop. If I turn off USB debugging and then switch to camera (PTP) mode and then back to MTP mode, my phone then connects fine. I wanted it to connect so I could copy my Titanium backup files off the phone and onto the PC. In the end, my mate told me about Airdroid and I managed to download them through that as a ZIP file. For some reason, the titanium backup folder isn't visible from your computer, I tried copying it to the DCIM folder and it just gave me a 1kb file. I also tried a new folder called backups and it was empty when I looked on my PC, but the files were visible when using Airdroid and also when I used a file browser on my phone.
Weird stuff!
Just wanted to bump this and see if anyone has a solution or even just an explanation.
Whenever I plug my OPO into my PC (with the original cable), the device, A0001 is found but is shown in Device Manager with an exclamation point. If I then right click on it and chose uninstall, and then reconnect the phone, it will connect and work fine for MTP/PTP modes. If I put USB debugging on, the MTP doesn't always work after. But no matter what, if I shutdown my PC, and then come to connect the phone the next day etc, I have to do the uninstall of the driver then reconnect for MTP to work. Pretty frustrating!
Anyone know why the phone isn't remembered by my PC correctly? I'm on Windows 7 x64 if that means anything.
I'm moving back to stock ROM soon so I'll see then if its something to do with the unlocked bootloader or using a custom ROM. I'll report back if I have any luck
Bumping this again, its still the same on 6.0. I don't fancy moving back to stock ROM, I like CM over Cyanogen OS, but this problem is really frustrating. Every single time I connect the phone to the PC, it will come up as A0001 but with an exclamation mark next to it in Device Manager, if I right click and uninstall the driver, then reconnect the phone, it works fine then. But if I restart my PC, it does the same thing where it cant find the right driver for the phone.
Is there anything I can try to fix this?
Hey guys here is my issue:
Purchased a Verizon S6 that was flashed with CM 5.0.1. I need to restore to a stock rom and somewhere along the flash with ODIN something went wrong. The phone reset and now the phone starts up and goes to the Verizon green screen that mentions something about my system failing to start.
I can't access the recovery menu which includes the wipe cache option. I can access download mode and the Maintenance Boot mode.
Download Mode: When I try to connect it to the computer I get USB device not recognized. I have tried KIES i have tried smart switch. I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled every USB driver. Device manager shows the phone as Unknown USB Device ( Device Descriptor Request Failed). I have tried 4 different Official Samsung cables and 3 non official. Girlfriends S6 is recognized instantly in download mode. Have tried 4 different machines. Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7.I have tried advice from many threads on here for 6 days now with no luck.
Maintenance Mode: Gives me options including wipe system. When I press any option the phone simply resets.
Can't access adb or fastboot, because the computer wont recognize it!
I have suspicions that this phone is " hard bricked ". I am without a phone at the moment and my job relies on it. I found a shop on the other side of the country that fixes hard bricks. I'm hoping this is still fixable via software, if you think you can fix this remotely please contact me! I am willing to pay $50.00 via paypal or square cash. I am on a windows 10 machine with an i7 and team viewer installed. Let me know if you are willing to give it a shot.
You might want to post in the Verizon s6 forum
I have a rooted S7 with TWRP recovery on it and i recently deleted my OS by accident as i was just trying to reset my phone to factory settings. Now the only thing i can do is boot into recovery mode and download mode, or i can just get stuck at a boot loop.
I have googled and googled and seen so many ways to try and fix this issue but nothing has worked for me. Heres a list of the issues i have and what i've tried so far. [Using Windows 10]
Installing Odin (3.12.3) and stock Samsung firmware from here.
Installing the necessary USB drivers from here.
My PC wont recognize my samsung device in either modes (recovery/download) and Odin wont recognize my phone either, as well as i cant find anything under "Device Manager".
Tried using ADB to transfer files to my S7 but when i activate ADB in recovery mode it just loads for a couple of seconds until it displays an error with no explanation.
I even tried downloading ADB drivers and necessary tools i got from this guide.
I also tried wiping Dalvik cache and cache.
I have tried three different USB cables on all available USB slots on my desktop PC and the one USB slot in my Surface and nothing works.
I have tried rooting previous phones but I'm still new to this rooting thing and there's a lot i don*t understand. Perhaps i downloaded the wrong USB drivers, or maybe I'm just unlucky. I just really need some help to understand how to fix this. If it can't be fixed is it possible to remove all traces of rooting on my phone?
The phone needs to be in Download Mode to use ODIN
The only sign it is connected is a COM port lit up at the top of the ODIN window
Add the .MD5 ROM to AP and hit start
Hello
As you can see i'm new here, so hello to you all.
I have the following problem with my Oneplus One.
In the past i rooted my phone, put on TWRP and flashed a Rom on it.
Yesterday i wanted to install another Rom on my device so i did what i normally do, put on a Rom, deleted everything (also data) and flashed it. But the phone always gave the same error with different roms, my phones name was not mentioned.
I looked it up and i thougth i found a sollution, my TWRP version was out of date (it was stil version 2.8.7.0). So i wanted to update it using TWRP. I put on the TWRP version 3.3.1.0 image on the phone and flashed it. It said the flash was succesfull and completed. I shut down the phone and restarted it to enter the new TWRP version.
Problem is, the phone did not start up, i only get the Oneplus One logo.
If i connect the phone to my pc (windows 10) my computer doesn't recognize my phone. It is not in the my pc list. I can see it in the devices in configuration as an uknown device (android).
I searched over the entire internet (or just a very small part of it ) and found that i should upgrade my android usb drivers. I downloaded them, but the computer says i already have the latest drivers.
I think i might flashed a wrong version of TWRP on my phone and that's why it's stuck.
I can start it up in fastboot mode. I think, so, i can see the fastboot mode logo but it is not so bright.
Then i tried to enter my phone with ADB through command prompt.
So i got the ADB files (platform tools), put them in a folder under C:, added them to the environmental variables path and restarted my computer.
But if i want to use a command with ADB, i get the error that "program 'adb' failed to run : there is no application linked to the given up file for this operation. (i had to translate it, because on my pc it's mensioned in Dutch).
So the problem is that my pc doesn't recognise my phone, or not correct so i can't enter it and there is a problem with the ADB.
I'm not that smart in all this stuff and all my info and actions come from the world wide web. It's not my primary phone so i don't mind experimenting with it.
Anybody that can help me?
Sorry if my English is not that well written.
If you need additinal info, shoot.
Thanks in advance
