s-pen disconnected - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hey,
my s-pen BT functionality stopped working for some reason. the pen it self work on the screen (i.e. writing) but it will not connect to the phone and I can't use the air actions.
I have tried resetting several times, and cleaning the cache of the device but nothing.
I will restore if I won't find any other option, but I was wondering if anyone even encounter that and was able to solve it
Thanks!!

Touch Pro constantly soft resetting itself (3 Aust)

Hi Guys,
I've been an owner of a Three-branded HTC Touch Pro in Australia for over a year now, with no major issues with it except for the multitude of WM bugs and lagginess I've grown to accept.
A year ago I loaded SPB Mobile Shell and I have a couple of other apps but not many that I use frequently. The phone is mainly used for calls, messaging, syncing with my Outlook calendar and contacts, and browsing the internet
A day ago the phone began behaving very strangely, with no rational explanation as to the trigger or cause.
The phone has begun randomly and frequently soft resetting itself. This can occur when I'm in the middle of writing a text message, on a call, or browsing the internet (or whilst doing anything else, really). The phone will go blank, the vibrator will vibrate once, then the 'Touch Pro' logo welcome logo will be displayed as it reboots.
The phone will then either:
(A) wait for me to enter my PIN
or
(B) go straight past the PIN screen through to the home screen
If I do not enter my PIN after this (either at the PIN screen or by invoking the PIN screen by selecting the Phone app), the soft-resetting issue doesn't occur. However, this leaves me with a useless brick, unconnected to any networks.
So I have to enter my PIN and then wait for the device to mysteriously and randomly soft reset itself at some point soon. Extremely frustrating.
Interestingly, I've found that the soft resetting issue doesn't occur when the device is plugged into the mains power or to a computer.
Today I upgraded the ROM to the latest available on the 3 website, and then installed the latest version of Mobile Shell 3.5. However the issue still persists...
I've now managed to disable the PIN request so that when the soft resetting occurs, the phone is automatically reconnected to the network but I'm not sure what sort of never ending loop of resetting this will create!!
Any clues???
So as a follow-up to this issue, my phone appears to have mysteriously fixed itself.
It is no longer resetting itself... or at least I haven't witnessed it reset itself.
Could anyone provide a potential analysis of what's going on??

Things like this happen for a few reasons, A bad flash, Corrupt blocks in the memory, and even if the device gets too hot, if it happens again i suggest you use a tty program like mtty of putty to format your device before flashing a new rom

Bug when booting apps

Hi guys!
I'm facing a bug regularly that prevent me from booting certain apps.
This only happens to brand-specific apps (HTC, Nokia, AT&T - those apps).
Underneath you can find a video where you can watch the bug.
(Backup link = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWbBISNUuY4 )
Comments are always welcome!
Do you use your Stock ROM? Have you done any unofficial modifications? Is the marketplace supported in your country? Did you try a hard reset?
Stock ROM - Yes
Modifications - No
Marketplace support - Yes
Hard reset - No, because I don't know how to do that (doesn't that delete stuff)?

Hi Matt,
Your problem seems similar to mine, except I only had this issue with Internet explorer, and a soft reset did not fix the issue, only a hard reset worked (so far anyway, fingers crossed )

click thanks button if this helped.
Well, for me a reboot helps (just for a while).
I've showed that in the video (watch the end)
But how do I do a hard reset (button combination, etc...)
And what consequences has that for my phone? (deleting files, settings, contacts,...)
I had a similar issue twice since I got my phone (May 2011). A reboot always fixed it for me as well, I am stumped on why this would happen regularly to you.
regarding the hard reset: go to settings, Info and select "reset device" on the bottom (paraphrasing from german here, it could be called different). This will reset the device to factory defaults, wiping any custom data you put on (apps, music, videos, pictures, email, messages... really everything).
Thanks!
I think I'll just stick to my reboot-fix, I can live with that.
can you tell us how regularly that happens? Weekly? Daily? Monthly? Is there some pattern to it? Does this happen from one minute to the other or does that happen overnight?
Hmmm, I'm not quite sure.
I use my phone quite fast (button presses and stuff).
So I think it has to do with me quiting an app and then locking the device a few miliseconds after that.
Might that be causing some trouble?
This was one of the countless issues I had with my HTC HD7. Always happened when I had used the device (and thus some apps) for a while. It turned out to be a hardware failure most definitely because I used all kinds of chargers for the HD7 that were not manufactured by HTC. Do you use any other chargers as well? And do you have random reboots?
I still use the charger that came out of the box.
And I do have some random reboots (especially when connecting it to my PC via USB)

No other, maybe more powerful charger? Hmm, that's weird. Though it really sounds like you're having the same issues with your 710 like I had with my HD7. You shouls try and send it in for repair or get a replacement device.
It doesn't really bother me, when I doesn't happen that much.
I was just wondering if anybody has the same issues (and the answer for that is yes)

Mate 9 factory reset itself without any reason

Hi everyone,
My device hard reset itself without any reason. I was walking outside and listened to a podcast through headphones when suddenly sound stopped. When I pull the phone out of the pocket I saw recovery screen “Low-level factory reset” and after a while, everything I had had on the phone before was just gone. I don’t remember that any other piece of human engineering made me so upset.
So, I didn’t touch my phone and it was offline (data disabled and no wifi around). It had MHA-L29C567B167 firmware and was rooted by this guide and then TWRP was replaced by the standard recovery (which probably made this hard reset possible). I haven’t done anything system related with the phone during last several weeks.
Did anyone else have the same problem? Do you have any ideas why the phone did it?
I had the same reset, when backup password on lockscreen (normally fingerprint) was filled in wrongly about nine times in succession.
Rogue app running as root? *shrug*
So frustrating
I had the same issue sooooo many times... The only way I found to stop this is to remove the password... I do open apps and all whilst the phone in my pocket... But at least it doesn't factory reset!!!!
so it happens after you input incorrect passwords after x amount of times?
Yes. After nine or ten times a wrong password, it did the factory reset. It happened due to a connected Bluetooth keyboard that wasn't turned off with key pressed for a long time by accident.
To prevent this problem from happening again I left TWRP flashed to the recovery partition. Now if the system requests recovery to factory reset TWRP will just ignore it.
Also, I found out that having Microsoft Outlook installed makes the problem worse. It reduce the number of incorrect PIN enter attempts. E.g. despite the fact that it displays "You have 4 more attemps" the device tries to factory resset.
I have these hard reset on me 3 times over the last 7 months. And 2 of these times, were happened when I was oversea. All my data are gone after it reset, and what make it worst was that I was oversea, and the 1st restoration process asked for WIFI setup & connection. Common, you are a foreign land on roaming (even with data), they still insist you need a WIFI connection before the restoration can continue.... a very frustrated experience especially you are oversea, and it happened to me twice with the most recent case - 2 days ago.... So, how do I activate TWRP?

Weird stuff happening on phone

Hi all, my mom has an Motorola Moto G3 phone. Have noticed many weird things happening on the phone since yesterday.
The notification panel won't slide down. Also, no notifications are displayed in the notification bar, even when there are notifications, like receiving sms or messages on Whatsapp.
The phone has a swipe lock screen. But, the lock screen won't work, even though it shows in Security settings, that there is one.
Calls are being made from the phone, but no calls are being received. For example, if I call the phone, it says that the person is busy and the connection ends. My brother had also tried calling... same thing.
No apps can be downloaded or updated from the Play Store.
I tried to connect the phone to the PC, but, since I cannot slide down the notification panel, there is no way to change the connection mode to transfer data.
I should mention that the storage on the phone was getting close to being filled, and the phone was showing the warning that storage was less and that some of the functions might stop working. So, are these things because of that?
But, I did delete a lot of photos and videos and uninstalled apps, and now there is sufficient storage for the phone to run properly, but it still doesnt work, and these weird stuff are happening.
I suspect from the weird behavior that there might be a virus. Is that so?
What do I do? How will the phone return to sanity? How do I backup the data... if the solution is to factory reset the phone. There are important photos and videos and whatsapp data which I would like to save before performing a reset.
Any help will be appreciated.
A lot to cover there.
First Long press the power button whilst the phone is on.This will reboot to Safemode.See if you can now use a USB Data cable to backup what you need to your PC/Laptop/Tablet.
Note:Some USB cables are,"Charge Only" so check the USB cable is Data transfer capable.
Then if you have a Google account and are connected via Phone data or WiFi go Settings/Accounts/Google and untick and re-tick all sync options to make sure all your Google stuff is updated.
Then do a,"Hard Reset/Factory Restore.
Just put Moto G3 into youtube with the words Hard Reset,
https://www.youtube.com
Although a Hard reset seems like a big move I do one at least a couple of times a year as a kind of 10,000 mile service for my Android phones even if they are running well and it clears out all the junk I tend to accumulate and keeps them slick, fast and problem free.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Your post comes as a lifesaver.
I took a backup of the data by transferring stuff on to the SD card and then transferring the data from there to the computer.
I had booted in safe mode, but there too the phone showed same behavior. I also noticed that the home button, or the task manager button were not working too.
After taking the backup, I also changed the password for the Gmail account for security, in case the mobile was somehow compromised.
Then I wanted to do a factory reset, but the button seems to be greyed out, and there seems to be no way to perform a soft factory reset. So, your post comes at the nick of time to save me, as I was thinking what to do now. Thanks a ton!
Performed a hard reset of the phone, and the phone is working fine now. Everything is normal.
What might be the reason for such behavior though?
Not being able to lock the phone, install/update apps, factory reset... all this makes me think if it was some kind of malware.
Another reason I can think of is that the storage got full, and so these strange stuff started, but it should go back to normal when stuff was deleted and sufficient storage became available. Still, doesnt explain why lock wouldn't remain.... and other stuff. Really weird.
Modern,"Smart Phones" are very complex computers. With so many apps on them that get updated some updates don't always play nice and mess up the phones. You could spend hours tracking down a single app that might be a cause of a problem.
As you say as well the the storage on the phones might well have got clogged up with old Temporary data that has not been cleared out as it should.
For future reference another trick is to wipe the Cache partition from Recovery mode.I would have suggested this first but as you said space was running out it's best to have a clean start
Yes, it was good to have a clean start with the phone.
Thank you for that trick to wipe the cache partition from Recovery mode. Will keep that in mind.
Thanks a lot again.

Question Lower screen damage, unable to unlock.

So a bit of a conundrum, my sisters Samsung ZFlip3 has had some screen damage, and the bottom half of the screen has stopped working this morning so we are unable to unlock the phone.
Due to this we are unable to use Samsung smart switch but need to be able to unlock the phone to allow the smart switch to start.
Tried to use the ADB tool however, even though Windows detects the phone, the ADB tool cannot "see" the device, which I'm guessing is because the screen cannot be unlocked after a restart.
The Samsung Remote unlocking is not activated so cant backup using the Samsung "Find my phone" web app.
Can access Recovery mode fine, so not sure if anything can be done using that?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Did you try Google's Find my Phone too?
You could only wipe it from Recovery but it will still ask for the last used PIN or Google Account password, so not a solution either.
Another solutiom would be connecting an external mouse and writing the PIN by memory or casting the phone screen on another screen.

Thanks for that suggestion, not sure why I didn't think of that myself. The usb keyboard trick worked like a charm! Currently backing up the device!
Thanks again!
I'm glad everything worked out in the end
