After reassembling my op6 it doesn't turn on anymore - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
You may have seen me complaining about the op6 here before, but now it has become a paperweight.
It all starts when no computer I use recognizes the OP6 (USB device not recognized) anymore, this happened after I asked for technical assistance to change my usb input from him that was having problems. But so far so good, because I'm not much of a copy data from my cell phone to my computer via USB.
Then came the problem, it presents the CrashDumpMode error that we have seen a lot here in this forum regarding this device. And then, as my computers don't recognize my cell phone anymore, I can't use MSMDownload to make the system recovery and the cell phone back to normal. This is about 2 weeks ago
I opened my cell phone yesterday, to remove the flat from the usb input, and try to clean, clean contact, etc... Soon after I reassembled the entire cell with all the flats as they were before and the cell didn't even give any sign of life.
What do you think might have happened? Did his motherboard take its last breath and die for good?
Hugs

Which connector? From the usb port or battery?

Any you removed. They are easily damaged if misaligned. Best to use a very fine pair of tweezers and visual aid if needed. Pull and inspect for damage.
ESD protocols/procedures should be followed as well. The out of circuit subassemblies can be damaged by static electricity.

anyone else have this problem?
I have the latest HTC Driver.
When I first got my phone it was perfectly normal until I rooted my phone. I would have to try plugging and unplugging the Stock HTC USB multiple times for my computer to recognize my phone. It is getting pretty annoying. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem as well. (doesnt matter which ROM I use, problem continues.)

You sure it's not the cable ?
Or, perhaps the usb port connector on the phone, or the one you're trying to plug into could have loose/damaged contacts?
Obviously, somethings changed or different. Try to replicate as many of the conditions that you had when it did work, as you can.

i have three HTC phone charger. 2 of them are in perfect condition, brand new, and they both still give me the same problem. maybe, something is wrong with my phone inside?

I'm talking about the cable itself, and maybe that's what you are talking about when you say "htc phone charger."
As far as "something wrong with your phone inside," you perhaps are missing or not understanding what I'm referring to.
Look at your phone up close at the part where you plug it in. Real close. You should see 4 little metal strips... Contacts. I was trying to suggest for you to check if there was a physical issue, loose, bent connector on the cable or on that part of the phone.
Or, on the connector of the port on the computer you were trying to connect it to.
The fact that you have to do it several times for it to recognize, but that it at least DOES eventually recognize it, made me suspect it's something intermittent, like a bad/loose connector, or a cable that has one of the wires inside it broken.
I don't know what other than something having to do with the usb connector on the phone, possibly where it's soldered to the PCB, that would cause it to intermittently give you problems.

corrosion inside usb port

When looking into the USB port I noticed there is a slight build up of green gunk which probably came from environmental moisture (not sure).
Possibly related to this is that when connecting PC to phone, some USB cables won't work (and sometimes power surge), some only works in one orientation, some only works via the wall charger.
Before I send my phone in for repair, just wondering if anyone here has had a similar problem, and what you did to fix it. Any help and comments will be appreciated.
Hi, i had this corrosion too, what i did (maybe not so sure way) its cleaning the corrosion that was between the pins of the connector, so first i turned off the phone and then i removed it with a needle, be careful with the pins. When you finish use a brush to clean the port a little more and remove the dust it may have, you can put alcohol on the brush.
If your cables are not working you can try to press a bit both horizontal sides of the connector to ensure the pins are always touching. Thats what i did when my usb c cable started to connect and disconnect the phone randomly when i just moved it a little.

Hey. Welcome to the club mate. I screwed up my charging port after a trip in Thailand. Some underwater diving & swimming caused the green junk in my port.
I had the same issue such as yours after the trip, Charging was fine but connection through usb on a computer was screwed up.
What I did was, cleaned the charging port with alcohol (Nail polish remover), let it dry & sent it to a nearby Sony Service centre.
They replaced my mother board for free (In warranty). The best part was I had my bootloader unlocked & they gave me a new motherboard with a locked bootloader
Sony service center employees don't know **** about Bootloaders in my country, I'm from India btw.

Xperia XZ Premium Charging Issues

Hi All,
I'm hoping someone here can share their opinions.
Recently I've been having charging issues with my XZ Premium. Started a few weeks ago, with the charger plugged in, it would randomly stop and start charging.
Lately it's been getting much worse. I have tried different chargers, cables, adapters etc. The original Sony USB cable plugged into a wall charger, and my laptop. My Dell laptop USB-C (thunderbolt) wall charger, as well as my Dell external battery charger, as well as MicroUSB cables with a USB-C adapter.
Without touching the cables or moving anything, sometimes it'll start or stop charging randomly.
I personally think it's the phone's USB-C connector. I've tried to clean it using a damp wooden toothpick and got some dust out, but it didn't make any difference.
The phone is rooted, and is out of warranty anyways. I also have a lot of security features installed which would make it hard for a tech to troubleshoot (needs passwords etc to be shut down or rebooted) and I store some cryptocurrencies in wallets on my phone.
Is it worth taking it to a tech (I live in Japan, and don't speak much Japanese) or should I be looking at an upgrade? If so, what is the recommended phone from Sony currently? I honestly really like the XZ Premium, so I'm tempted just to buy another one if mine can't be easily fixed.
Thanks!
Bit of an update.
I managed to get my phone to charge using the original Sony USB -> USB-C cable, with an adapter plugged into the thunderbolt port on my laptop. Charging is still incredibly slow though. Also, I noticed when it hit 30% charge, it stopped accepting charge unless the phone is unlocked. If I hit the lock button, the charge light switches off. It switches on again when I unlock it.
*Small edit* It stopped charging again at 31%, despite being unlocked.
Wiggling the cable in the phone socket doesn't seem to effect whether it charges or not, which should rule out the connector in the phone. It has also not registered as a device on my laptop, despite being connected via the USB cable, which would mean it's not specifically a battery issue either, as there's no data connection being made.
So I'm starting to think it's a hardware issue.
I've ordered a new Xperia XZ Premium, because I really do love this phone, and the new XZ2 Premium doesn't seem like much of an upgrade to me apart from the camera, and slightly faster performance. And as much as I'd love to have wireless charging, moving the finger print sensor, and no 3.5mm audio output is a massive dealbreaker for me.
mine died like this, was on charge, started to say charghing/discharghing until he turned off and never came back.. under warranty they changed MoBo/2 stickers/components (??)/ 2 screw and now is back like new
Long term bump.
I bought a new replacement 8142 and have been using that successfully, and I decided to try and fix the charging issues on my old one.
I've just installed a brand new genuine battery, charging port, and power/vol/camera button connections.
The phone booted up fine, but it's STILL not charging at all. Any ideas? Motherboard maybe?

Maybe the flex cable isn't working
have only just started having this issue yesterday, have tried different charger and usbc cable combinations, cant even get my pc to recognise it as a plugged in turned off xzp and it wont turn on only show the battery icon with low level indicator in the red.
I have a similar issue.
When I connect my XZP to the pc using a Rampower cable USB-C to USB (sold as 5Gbps and 5V/3A power, thus an USB3.0 with fast charge of 15W) I suffer of the same issue exposed above: randomly the connection get interrupted.
While, charging the phone, yet with the above-mentioned cable and original Sony charger, I get no problem at all!
NB: I have never tried with the original USB cable...
Common fault with the xzp.
The actual connector from the logic board that the usb c module connects to burns out. Require a new logic board or connector to be replaced/soldered on and new usb c module.

This is good news, because sourcing a mainboard is half the price of the phone, and I've already spent money on a new battery and charging port etc.
My 2nd G8142 phone has just started displaying the same symptoms, and I can't afford a complete replacement.
Can you confirm that this is the part I need? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000160901916.html
If so, I'll grab 2, and install into my old phone first to confirm the fix, before then installing one in my newer phone.

Lucky you!
I'm onto my 2nd one, and have had the same charging issues with both.
Both phones have been rooted with a custom ROM, and I use my Dell smart-powerbank to charge them fairly often. So perhaps that is the cause of the early failures on both.

I have unlocked both on day one
I have never used a powerbank, could be a factor. Or just bad luck
My first xzp, i cracked the screen trying to replace the screen adhesive, so i bought a rosso red one from ebay.

Unfortunately I can't confirm if that is the exact part you need as I don't do repairs. All I can confirm is that my repairer has stated that he has seen XZP's with the same recurring issue with the connector burning out.
My guess is, that is the part as he had to micro solder a new connector to the logicboard.

That's good enough for me! I'll grab a couple of them and see if it fixed my older phone first (because I've already tried the battery and the USB-C socket etc) Will update once I've done the repair.
Hope you can fix that problem and share some experience on this issue. Mine has a similar problem. The difference is that it can be charged to 100% but very slow and randomly stop.

Yep, that's how my issue started too. It'll progressively get worse.
I've just bought a Google Pixel 3 XL as my 2nd XZP has ceased accepting any charge at all. I'll see if these motherboard sockets fix the issues, then keep one and sell one. Otherwise I'll just sell them both off as parts.

I talked to some tech on Alibaba (A Chinese shopping website) and they said it can be fixed by replacing that socket. But the replacement requires professional welding equipment and skills. Or the motherboard can be damaged. That's why I am looking for other people's experience before I take step myself. If you succeed, please update this thread. I think there are more people like me who is looking for successful experience from others. Thank you for your sharing.:good:

S7 G930F USB Data Problem

Hi! My mother's S7 is not recognized by any PC right now. Before I order a new USB PCB I'd like to ask for some help here. The symptoms are:
- Charge and fast charge fully working
- Everything inside the phone is workin, not a single scratch
- When I plug in to any PC, no data mode transfer appears, neither under quick settings, just charging.
- Windows doesnt recognize anything when the phone plugged in, seen on device manager.
Did you install the Samsung USB drivers?
9 times out of 10 it is the USB port. This can be replaced by dismantling the phone and connection a new USB ribbon.
If you have tried this and ruled out the port, I had one where a dodgy charger had fried some components between the USB ribbon connector and the multiplexer IC. I had to replace components ZD8008, ZD8008, R8019 and R8020. These serve as input protection on the USB data lines.
Someone with microsoldering repair experience will be able to replace these for you. You be no more than 75 Euro. It does involve dismantling so may void warranty/water resistance.

I guessed so. Where can I find this components? Are they smds resistors, capacitors? I know microsoldering but does it deserve the effort? I mean, can I found a USB pcb replacement and just replace the whole piece?
Thank you very much!
EDIT: Like this one
EDIT2: I missunderstood your first line...I haven't already tried to replace the usb pcb. I think I'll try and if it doesn't work, well... I hope not -.-"
I draughted this reply before I saw your edit; sounds like you know what to do though: :good:
Sorry, it never occurred to me that you hadn't tried a new USB port flex yet. 9 times out of 10 it is that. Get one to try; fitting it is a pain because you have to separate the screen from the mid frame for the back/app button backlights but you can test it without removing the old one. They are very cheap and available on eBay etc.
If the new USB doesn't help, the fix is probably the microsolder repair I described above. Those components are in the main PCB so a USB daughterboard swap won't help.

Charging Problem

So before my xz premium completely stopped charging my phone used to randomly stop charging and charged very slow I used quick charge 3.0 and certified usb c cable I had to put the usb type c cable in a certain position to get my phone charging but after a while it completely stopped charging I inspected the port it was fine no bent nor broken cleaned the port but it didn’t charge after sometime I started messing with the phone so I found a way to charge it when I put pressure on the bottom of the phone from front and rear of phone where usb port and flex cable is connected it starts charging but I have to put a lot of pressure to get it to charging I don’t know about hardware so I am here If someone can guide me ty.
Is the charge manager enabled?
In this case the manager try to think at which time you disconneythe the phone from charger and stopped after a while to continue in front of disconnect (or what he think at which time it is)
No the charge manager or (Battery Care) is not enabled but I opened the device myself because I thought it might be a loose connection of charging port's flex cable but it was connected to the motherboard fine but the situation was the same I pressed the flex cable where it connects to the motherboard and the phone started charging I think it's some sort of motherboard problem as it happened with some other xz premium users as well.
P.S:Replacing the charging port didn't fixed the problem.
Hello,
I had a similar problem.
At first it only carried in certain positions or pressing the region where the flat connection. After 1 months it stopped completely.
My problem was in the motherboard charge connector, I needed to buy a new connector to replace with solder. After 30 days, everything continues to function normally.

Thank you very much that's the answer I was looking for one more thing can you guide where to buy the connecter for the motherboard and can you tell me how did you manage to replace it.
Update I just got mine fixed the btb connecter for the charging port on the motherboard was loose it needed to be resoldered in case it is more damaged you should get a new btb connecter I'll put the link to buy from link: https://rounded.com/sony-board-connector-btb-socket-2x10pin-1306-0093.html
can u guide me how to do it?
If u know any trusted and skilled repair person just tell him what the problem is and make sure the repair person fix it the right way as described otherwise he might end up damaging ur phone.
alrighty thankss, i'll update soonnn, i already change the port but it still the same

Changing the port won't fix the issue it can only be resolved if u change the btb connector on the motherboard.
Anyone knowing how to do it?
Hi. Stripped phone down and removed old BtB connector. How do you solder the new part to the motherboard. Is it just the four corners you solder or do all x10 pins on each side need to be soldered?
Can somebody who has changed a BtB put a step by step guide if poss?

ok update i've been trying to repair it/solder it in a couple 3rd repair (because there's no sony xperia service center here in indonesia..) and they say they can't, then i wen't to this repair shop (this one looks not promising) then i got a message after 3 day they say they can't repair it, i was hopeless, i left my phone there.., and after 1 and a half month i think, i finally went to get my phone, and when i arrives to get my phone they charge me 15$, in my head i was thinking "why they charge me? they didn't even fix it"
then the repair man said "we fix it" i was shock they didn't even message me and said it was fixed (they have to) so i pay the 15$ and check the phone its completely normal it's charging the fast charge work, but.. they reinstalled everything (factory reset) kinda strange.. but it's find ok so that's it
