Alright like most people I hardly ever bump charge because I charge my phone at night and wake up and leave the house
Well since I'm assuming most people have a similar routine maybe someone can make and app that would turn off the phone when it displays a full charge to let it charge the rest of the way
Or what would be even better if it could have a pre set timer to restart the phone after the bump charge ic complete
Just a thought

I've never used it so i'm not sure but you can probably make tasker shut the phone off when it sees a full charge.
I've thought of the same thing about this but I use my phone as an alarm clock so i can't do this.
getting the phone to turn back on after the bump charge probably isn't possible since there's nothing running. maybe it would work in the hibernate enabled sense roms but i'm not sure if bump charging works or not in that mode.
If, unlike Baram and I you don't use your phone as an alarm clock, you can charge it while it's off.. Then when you turn it on it will be full capacity and you will have no need to bump charge
yea, my phone is my alarm so that dosnt help me.
Charge the phone off before bedtime. works for me.
I was thinking about something along the same lines. Have the phone turn off after its 100% charged, and then let the phone charge again, lastly have the phone turn on in the morning. But it's true, since the phone is off there are no services running and the phone will not able to turn on by itself.
I haven't used Tasker, but I guess it would be able to turn it off when charge = 100. Now only if the phone turned back on in the morning before my alarm....hmmmm.

I'd make sure to put a condition so that if your phone gets recharged during the day, that it doesn't turn off. Maybe power off if battery is 100% and the time is between midnight and 6am for example.
I was half asleep when I typed this so I didn't realize if I just turned it off before I slept it would charge
Im running desire z so I am.curious if hibernation actually does a full charge, ill test tonight
But if it does it would be cool to see an app to turn the phone off at certain times and re awakes it before alarms go off
It some older Nokia phones I had this feature was built in so it would awake when there was a alarm or phone call

Sounds like a plan. Also, MorphiousGX recommended SuperPower (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807989) in a kernel thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9722089&postcount=360).
One alternative is Reboot Manager

Reboot Manager (available in marketplace) will allow you to set a specified time when you want to reboot or power off your Dinc. It will not power it back up, so if you rely upon your Dinc as an alarm clock, this isn't the approach.
If, like me, however, you keep the unit plugged in all night and use something else for an alarm, you can set it to power off the Dinc sufficiently early that by the time you arise, the bump charging has completed.
I have no affiliation with the developer; but I like the product and it solved the bump charge issues for me (except for when I travel...'cause I use the Dinc as my alarm....)
Just got a new battery from T-Mo today, as my battery life has been depressing since 2.3.4 update a month ago. With the old battery, I tried 5 cycles in a row of fully discharging, and fully charging while off. No difference, Juice Defender, m a y b e a little difference...been searching around for an hour, and remember a few things from reading XDA over the past month. So many different techniques, most for rooted phones, mine is completely stock(and I do plan on rooting soon still researching/learning), 1st thing I did when I took it out of the mail, was put it in the phone, and charge it while phone is off. Green LED has been on for 3 hours now. I'm scared to turn it on!! How do I calibrate this baby and make sure to the best of my ability this battery stays good?? Sorry for essay on one question.
wow, 56 views...0 replies. Nice.
I read one of the MANY threads yesterday on this, a guy said to someone, something along the lines of..."use the search, there are countless threads on this...and you can find this, like I did"...
This is what he said.
Charge the batt all the way while off(wall), then unplug, plug back in, light will be amber, then change to green. Repeat this process till The amber light doesn't come on anymore.
SO, I did this...about 100 times. It would go amber, blink, amber, then to green with no blink. Then sometimes it would go amber, and blink to green. back and forth. Seriously about 100 times. It never would initially light green. Amber everytime.
So I finally gave up, went to sleep. Still getting mediocre battery life today.
Where is help when you need it??
Drain it until it turns off, plug in, turn phone back on and let it charge to 100%, unplug, drain until it dies, repeat process 3 or 4 times. Download calibration app from market and use it when 100 % is reached.

2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour
3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour

That was the official reply from HTC during the EVO 4G days
So instead of fully charging while off, fully charge it while it's on? And, the calibration app, is this a general statement, like any app, or a specific one?

It's called Battery Calibrator. This is the process I found on the forums, it works, on stock battery I average 5 hrs screen time and can get over a day on one charge. On the Anker I get even better, I have been methodical about conditioning batteries and I am getting great battery life.

Yo, when u see that green red led combo, know that your phone is telling u that battery is overheating/overcharging. It's colorful for a reason, telling u to stop.

It is not red, it's amber(orange/yellow) And it was on this thread that I read to use that technique - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139092
He says "use search, it can only help you"
well, like I originally said, I have seen numerous techniques on calibrating. Just trying to find a solid one. That guy @KillaHurtz had a lot of thanks and seemed to know what he was talking about, but like I said, I tried his technique 100 times and couldn't get the results he was saying "repeat until no amber light showing", and that was after leaving the phone on charge(while off) 3 hours after it already turned green.
So one says, do this...another says...that is overheating/charging your phone....
are you mistaking my amber for red? I seriously hope I was not damaging a brand new battery before even turning my phone on with it.
Apple recommends this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
1. Plug in the power adapter and fully charge your PowerBook's battery until the light ring or LED on the power adapter plug changes to green and the onscreen meter in the menu bar indicates that the battery is fully charged.
2. Allow the battery to rest in the fully charged state for at least two hours. You may use your computer during this time as long as the adapter is plugged in.
3. Disconnect the power adapter while the computer still on and start running the computer off battery power. You may use your computer during this time. When your battery gets low, the low battery warning dialog appears on the screen.
4. At this point, save your work. Continue to use your computer; when the battery gets very low, the computer will automatically go to sleep.
5. Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or more.
6. Connect the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.

Rhiannon224 is right. I don't repeat the process 3 or 4 times like she does, but once a month I let my phone run down until it turns itself off. Then I leave it off and charge it overnight. I get better than average battery life, although I don't get 5 hours of screen-on time with the standard battery or with the EVO3D battery (1730 mAh). I easily make it through my normal usage for a day -- 20 to 30 emails (gmail and HTC Mail app set to push), facebook and weather sync every hour; Plume sync every 30 mins, 20 or so texts, 15 to 20 mins of phone calls, some Slacker radio, short sessions of Cordy or Angry Birds to waste a little time.

Hah, sorry for the late response. When I said red, I was referring to amber. There are only 2 LED colors for the Sensation. Have you tried disconnecting the charger, turning off the phone, then connecting again? If it wasn't at full cap, it'll go back to being amber. Do this too many times, you'll notice it'll start flashing green and amber, signalling that the battery is getting overcharged.
If your phone is on and charging and you get say a text/email or other notification, you will get the green/amber flashing as well. I'm not sure if the battery is overheating of it will flash multiple colors or not however owning a sensation I can tell you from experience that my phone has been hot to the point where it is uncomfortable to hold charging or not and the only time I have seen an orange/green flashing combo is when it was charging and I had a notification. Orange by itself means charging. Green by itself means fully charged. Hope that helps with the confusion. For the battery life, if your phone is rooted, I recommend using faux clock to manage your CPU levels and keep your battery life up. If not, try lowering the brightness of your screen in order to make the battery life last longer. My phone gets me through a full day without charging (pre and post rooting) and I'm on it quite frequently and all I do is use my phone as usual and drain it until it dies once or twice a month to help prevent the "memory effect". Hope this helps!

My Z3 is fairly new to me, just got it on Friday. So far love the phone. Only problem is with charging... and battery life.
So far I'm not getting anywhere close to advertised battery life. I hardly used it at all yesterday and took it off charge around 11:00am from 100% and when I put it on charge at 1:00am it was at 23%. I had no phone calls, played a game for about 20 minutes, and did some facebook messaging in the afternoon for a little bit. Didn't watch no movies, didn't stream any media... very odd. It was paired with my Moto 360 all day however... could that kill the battery that fast? Stamina mode was not activated.
The biggest issue however has been charging. I turned the phone OFF when I put it on charge at 1:00am and this morning when I turned it on it still read 23%. When I plugged the charger in before I went down for bed the phone lit up saying it was connected and receiving power and the light turned orange. Same thing happened Friday night when I put it on charge, except for the phone was ON, and it dropped from 30% to 20% overnight while in airplane mode.
I used two different chargers both nights.
During the day the charger I used Friday night seemed to work fine as it charged it up from 8:00am till 11:00am Saturday morning. It's a Blackberry Playbook charger, so it puts out a lot more juice (don't have it next to me so don't know the spec), and it charged up my tablet just fine. The cable I used to charge it overnight last night is currently charging it as I type this. So why won't it charge overnight?
I had the same issue on my old Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo, but I resolved switching charger and plug.
Did you try changing plug?
Yes I've used three different cables
Might be a long shot, but check that your WiFi isn't on all the time, either when screen off and sleep mode, or always scanning and sending...WiFi advanced settings...that can cause rapid drain..also Sony products are very particular in charge mode, and will only charge fully and properly if using Sony chargers...best fit is to use charger supplied...had same issue with my S4, and Nexus 7..hope this helps

Hey buddy, I have had the EXACT same problem.
I have watched tons of reviews for this phone on YouTube and users feedback on how great battery life is, and I have owned this phone for a week but I was struggling to make it to 4 1/2 hours of on screen time and the phone would take forever to charge. But just tonight, like literally a couple of hours ago, I noticed my phone charging was odd. Phone was charging till 99% then it would drop to 97% while still charging then go up to 98% then back down to 97% then back up to a 100% in all taking about 30 min. Now, I can tell, battery life seems to be much better. Not sure if the phone was calibrating itself but I have been using the phone heavily since I took it off charge nearly 3 hours ago and I have more than an hour of screen time with 86% left. Before I would be around 73% probably. So give it some time, try using the phone till it dies completely then recharge it and repeat the process 3-4 times, I think the battery will calibrate itself.
Edit: Also, I went to settings, power management and app power consumption and noticed that a couple of apps that I barely use are the ones using the most background data so I uninstalled them as well. But give it time, the phone will eventually go to normal and give you that insane battery life. Also use the oem USB cable and wall plug, I have been using a cheap 3rd party one.
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Why don't you try without pairing with the Moto 360. Check the battery life without pairing to your smartwatch for a day. We can at least exclude the culprit. IF its the phone, then get a replacement done.
yes, I'm going all day today without having the Moto 360 paired up. already after two hours off charge and hardly any on screen time and it's down to 85%. Not even my iphone 5s drained that fast and usually I was out of power by lunch on that thing (one of the reasons I grabbed the Z3)
I charged it off the factory charger last night and with the phone off and that seemed to work, it charged up nicely this morning.
We will see what happens.... seems like Lifelog draws a lot of power according to the battery stat meter, gonna uninstall that and see if that helps.
so the phone died off at 8:30 or so last night to 0%. from about 3:30-7:00 the phone was untouched, not paired to my watch, and wifi/bluetooth were turned off. It dropped from about 50% to 30% during that time. From about 8:00-8:30 I played a game to just kill it, when I started playing battery was at 21%
I had stamina mode on from 9:00am till 7:00pm yesterday too. This seems very strange to kill that fast.
Even this morning, took it off the charger, confirmed 100% charge, did my morning routine (without touching the phone) and even after 30min it dropped to 90% already.
There has to be something robbing power...
Lifelog is off. BBM is on. stamina mode only allows BBM and push email through. I made sure BeWeather is setup to only refresh on screen unlock.
the good news is... charging is working!
Just to make sure it isn't BBM i would suggest you don't allow it for stamina mode. What other apps have you installed? They might be draining too..

Yesterday, 2.5hr screen on time, had the screen dimness at aprox 20% all day, no phone calls, no gaming, no bluetooth aside from from my 20min commute to and from work, wifi at home from 6:00-7:30. got from 6:50am till 8:30pm until the phone died. Was on stamina mode.
Took it off the charger this morning and in 20 minutes lost 10%.
I'm ordering a replacement phone as this seems very high.
I'm seeing people use their phone pretty close to max settings without stamina mode in the battery thread I was reading yesterday (and I will probably take this conversation there), and they are getting much longer life it seems than I am.
I've been having issues on my Bell Canada Z3 as well (I've had it for 3 weeks). Battery Stats was blaming it on GMail (25%). I wiped GMail's data and cache today, so I'm hoping that will help. I also noticed a couple of times this week that my phone was running very slow and starting to get hot. In that scenario /usr/sdcard seemed to be the culprit. Got out of that by unmounting and remounting the sdcard. Seems really unstable in general, I hope Lollipop fixes things.
I have had the phone for a couple of days now. charged it 4 times. all 4 times I charged it with the 65W warp charge 65 brick. I cant find any battery optimisation settings that can cause this issue. the Phone has some option that kicks in and stops the charging at 75% . i switched off both battery optimisation options just to check and still it didn't work. it wont charger even with the older dash or warp charger so its most likely a android 11 oxygen os optimisation that I cant find any option to turn off. pls HELP! it only charges to a 100% with the phone turned off.
You say this is only happening when the phone is turned on? It sounds like some type of battery protection mechanism designed to minimize battery wear while the phone is on. Some people like to keep their phone on a charger for hours at a time while using Hot Spot for example. Some say that this is bad for the battery??? I do this, but not using a charger, but rather using USB into a charging port on my laptop...which is a very slow charging option. My 8t arrives tomorrow so I will have to see if it is happening on mine. When using the rapid charger while the phone is off, when it hits 100% it will top charging...but if the phone is on it will "keep" charging which may be bad using this new high speed charging. Just a guess on my part. Many times there are settings available on these phones that are very hard to find. I would do a search in the settings app using whatever different words you can think of to see if there is something that can be adjusted.

yes I completely understand the implementation of this feature and its absolutely a great thing. its just that I m unable to find a switch to turn it off nor do I even find any mention of it in the battery optimisation options. there has to be a way to turn it off.

There is an "Optimized Charging" setting on mine. It's not adjustable...only on or off. Maybe that has something to do with your issues?
#TeamRMA
I don't have that issue with mines
Is there a message on the notification centre? I remember my device cut the charging at 80% saying that it will slowly charge to 100 in a few hours to protect battery life. I believe this is with the battery optimization turned on.
If there's nothing similar then try to go for a replacement or take it to OnePlus support.
Battery Optimization <> Charging Optimization.
So I tried the adaptive charging feature on Pixel 4a. I set an alarm for 9am on my phone, plugged it in to charge at around 11.30 pm and went to sleep. The lock screen displayed adaptive charging on and that the charging would be complete by 9 am. However, I woke up early at around 6, checked my phone and found that the device was completely charged by then. Does this feature actually work? I have always taken care not to charge my previous devices overnight, but I found this option convenient. Should I stop charging the pixel overnight as well?
Thanks in advance!
Yah, apparently this Adapative Charging junk doesn't work on the 4a, same with me and same with tons of Reddit posters.... hopefully Goog comes out with a fix or a better working version of this this year because I can't find any 3rd party software solution for the 4a...
