Galaxy S4 GT 19505 bricked? - General Topics

Hi guys,
I am having trouble recovering my galaxy s4. I have downloaded odin and stock firmware and followed the tutorial to reflash firmware but it always fails with the same message Deviceinfo fail. I have attached a ic of the screen. The phone originally had German firmware on it at level 5.0.1 lollipop. I can get the phone into the right state to flash and have tried several different BG firmwares
GT-I9505_1_20161201163515_lgwvgkwp4u
I9505XXUGNG8_I9505YXYGNH2_BTU
I always end up with the same error. It would be great if some guru could give me a hint on what I am doing wrong. BTW I am running windows 10 the Galaxy drivers I am using are 1.7.43.0 and Odin3 is V3.14.4.
Cheers Guys
Steve

Thanks for response but that doesnt fix it . It just puts the phone into the firmware updae state

That's download mode....
If you're new to this stuff, please don't. Don't waste time and a good working phone for whatever youtube tutorial you saw.

I have flashed images before with no problem. This had German firmware on it and was trying to get a UK image on it. I followed the process posted here on this forum not a youtube tut. I would have thought tutorials on this forum should be good???

Tutorials here are revised and trustworthy, what's not trustworthy is the user who's is flashing the phone. As I specifically said "If you're new to this" which means if anything goes awry, it's your fault and no one is responsible. Of course someone here would help you if that happens and you ask nicely.
Flashing UK variant might cause issues with the SIM services on the device, like issues with calls, messages, etc.
Flashing a different ROM doesn't necessarily mean you have a better device.

Thanks for the info and accept what you say. it maybe I have tried to flash the wrong image on the phone and got myself in this position as I didnt want the german image with its apps. We all have to learn somewhere and have had no issues other times but I am trying to recover from this now and XDA is where I am looking for support.

I already gave you the solution, this should put your device in download mode and solve the problem with odin.
After following these steps, just flash ROM files.

I think you may have to format the partitions and flash the ROM. Doing so will delete everything on your device.

Just in case you don't know how to:
Extract PIT file from CSC file.
Open Odin and put the PIT file in the PIT tab.
Check re-partition option in options tab.
Put BL, AP, CP and CSC files and flash.
To extract the PIT file from the CSC file:
Rename the CSC file extension from MD5 to ZIP then extract it in a folder.
Rename the CSC file extension back from ZIP to MD5.
Only put files from the UK variant or whatever ROM your going to flash.

Hi XDHx86 I think I know what's going wrong here. All the images I have downloaded have 1 x.MD5. and 1 x.dll in them.
EG: I9505XXUHOJ2_I9505BTUHOJ1_I9505XXUHOJ2_HOME.tar.md5 and SS_DL.dll. Although some of the downloads say there should be 4 files. BL AP CP & CSC. I dont see any of these? In odin I have been clicking on AP and pointing to the md5 fil which fails. I think I need to get an image that has those 4 files.
Thanks again for your help on this

first you need beni.ops file.. (just google it and download)
and for the firmware either you require a "one package file"(.tar)
or 4 different files BOOT,PHONE,CSC,PDA. You can get a firmware for fit from sammobile.com
last thing you need is ODIN multidownloader 4.38 for fit or later..
open odin.exe
tick onepackage if you have a single .tar firware file.
if you have four files then you need to carefully place respective file in respective option in "select image to download" section of ODIN. leave EFS empty.
Click on start and wait till your phone boots.
Alright! Im back to stock rom

Hi @fits79
You can find the required ODIN Firmware Package as you wish for the ODIN tool

http://hotfile.com/dl/146050815/b3b9...2_INU.zip.html in case this link doesn't work please download the Packages from above link as I can't check it from my office so dntmnd
For ODIN Flashing Tool:
http://www.downloads.techdiscussion....ting-software/
and Procedure to Flash is:
- Shutdown Galaxy Fit and restart it in Recovery Mode. For that hold the volume down key + Home key and power key. Hold it for some seconds and leave it. The device will boot in recovery mode. When the yellow triangle, connect cell phone and a computer with a USB cable.
- Launch ODIN on your system. In that look under ID:COM section. The section will turn to yellow once the device is connected and detected.

[GUIDE] How to fix IMEI / DRK issues

This Guide works on both the S7 and S7 Edge.
This also works on other Samsung device including Snapdragon variants as long as you have the correct files for your device.
FIll out my form if you require assistance
S8 users go HERE
This guide is for those of you with EFS issues. This can cause your IMEI and/or Baseband to show Unknown or a bunch of zeros. The guide can also be used to fix DRK errors, but if your Device Root Key (DRK) is corrupt or missing, this guide will fix your IMEI/Baseband but will not fix your DRK error.
The guide gives instructions on how to flash the combination firmware. This installs the factory binary which allows your phone to read your IMEI and DRK. This should then restore your IMEI and DRK and then when you flash stock, the phone will be working as normal. If the Device Root Key (DRK) is corrupt or missing, this guide will only fix the IMEI, the DRK errors will still remain.
I take no responsibility for any issues that arise from following this guide. Do so at your own risk. The smallest mistake can cause a much bigger issue so make sure you know what you are doing and follow every step word for word!
Please note that this will not work for everyone
Some people will still face getting stuck at boot when flashing the combination firmware.
This means you have at some point flashed firmware that is later than the latest combination firmware and unfortunately, it is not possible to fix this by downgrading the firmware to an earlier version.
Before you proceed, you're going to need the following:
A copy of your phones stock firmware saved to your computer. If you do not already have these available on your computer, you can go HERE or you can use this tool to download the latest firmware for your device. Alternatively, you can find your firmware on SamMobile but this can take forever to download with a free account.
[IMPORTANT!] Switch off Factory Reset Protection (FRP) by going into Developer options and turning on 'OEM Unlock'. If you do not see 'Developer Options' under settings, then go to Settings > About Device > Software Info and keep tapping 'Build Number' until it confirms "You are now a developer" then go back to the main Settings screen and you will see Developer options.
if you skip this step, you only have yourself to blame if something goes wrong.
Odin. If you do not have it, download it from here
The Combination Firmware (Factory Binary). Download the combination firmware relevant to your phone (links below) and extract the .rar archive somewhere you will remember.
S7 International [G930F/FD] - (Mirror) [UPDATED 03/11/2017]
S7 Edge International [G935F/FD] - (Mirror) [UPDATED 03/11/2017]
S7 Canada [G930W8] - (Mirror)
S7 Edge Canada [G935W8] - (Mirror)
S7 Edge AT&T [G935A] - (Mirror)
Files for other models available on request via my form

Now you have all the files you need, follow the guide below to repair your S7.
There are 2 methods.
The first method (Method 1) is quick and can solve most issues. Especially DRK errors.
The second method (Method 2) is to use if Method 1 does not work. This guide requires more work and therefore takes a little longer.
Method 1
Boot into recovery and wipe data.
Put your phone straight into Download Mode (do not reboot or boot up the system between wiping data and booting to download mode). To do this, you can use recovery to reboot to Download mode. Alternatively, switch off your phone and hold 'Power' + 'Volume Down' + 'Home' until it boots to download mode. Then connect the phone to your computer with your USB cable.
Open Odin, press the 'AP' button and select the Combination tar/md5 file you downloaded/extracted earlier. Then press the 'Start' button. (If you have any errors while flashing, first make sure you are using the correct firmware for your phone. If it is still throwing errors, remove the ".md5" from the end of the file name and try again).
When Odin has completed flashing the combination file, it should boot into the Factory Binary. You may get a message asking you to reboot. Click reboot (If you do not get prompted to reboot, do a reboot manually).
When it has booted back up. Press the 'IME' button at the bottom of the screen and type *#06#. You should now see your IMEI has restored.
Now restore the stock firmware using the firmware you downloaded earlier. (If you're not sure how, follow this guide)
You should now have a restored IMEI. If not, this means your efs is damaged. Therefore, you will need to follow Method 2 below.
Method 2
You will need to start on a rooted device. If you are not rooted, follow this guide to root your phone or flash CF Auto Root in Odin.
Before you continue, it is extremely important that you backup your EFS partition, even if it is corrupt. You can backup the EFS partition using THIS APP. If you skip this step, you only have yourself to blame if something goes wrong and you have no backup to restore.
Download Root Explorer (Paid) or Root Browser (Free). Open 'Root Explorer' or 'Root Browser' (whichever you installed) and browse to the /efs folder located in the root of the device.
Inside the /efs folder, delete everything EXCEPT the 'FactoryApp' and 'prov_data' folders.
Reboot. Make sure it does a full reboot. When the phone boots back up, you may some errors or unusual settings, this is normal and nothing to worry about.

Still Getting a DRK error?
If you are still getting a DRK error then you probably have a corrupt or missing Device Root Key (DRK). Unfortunately, this cannot be fixed without a JTag box (which aren't cheap). However, you can continue to use the phone as normal by flashing the no-verity zip in TWRP. You can then go ahead and use your phone as normal. Unfortunately, you will no longer be able to receive OTA updates. All updates will need to be made through ODIN and the no verity zip will need to be flashed every time a new firmware is flashed. However, you can still use custom roms as normal. Other than OTA updates, the DRK issue will have no effect on the use of the phone. You can still update via Smart Switch but will need to install TWRP and flash the no verity zip after every update.
If you would like any assistance in fixing your issue such as Method 1 & 2 do not work for you or if you have a different model than what is listed in this guide, please complete THIS FORM and I will try to get back to you ASAP (unfortunately I cannot always respond)
Many thanks to everyone that has donated!!
If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here
As you can imagine, finding fixes and assisting people takes a lot of my time so it's always great to receive a donation. Thank you.

What else can this factory binary do? Can it restore the original CSC? I had an AFG CSC phone and after playing around with different roms, when I go back to the original firmware (although it is a multi CSC), it chooses XSG rather than AFG no matter what I do.

What I meant is that when you say you now have a different CSC, how did you know this.
This firmware basically just feels the phone where to read the imei, baseband, and other info. This does not include the CSC.
PM me for my email address and then if you email me a backup of your EFS, I will have a look and restore your CSC for you.

The original firmware of the phone was AFG for csc. Now even after using odin to get the same firmware, it defaults to xsg. Not a big deal but I don't know where the csc information is stored.

I see. Phone info won't show the original csc without root.
But how do you explain that despite using the appropriate firmware with odin, it always defaults to xsg rather than the original afg from the multi csc firmware?
Hey so I tried flashing the G935_Factory_Binary.tar file on a galaxy s7 edge, and the thing is stuck on splash screen. any idea why?

Because you flashed another region firmware, wipe data -> All original csc will get remove. You flash back and will only get default csc. If you rooted, you can change to afg csc
Thank you CuBz90 for your great work.
I flashed the superman rom but selected the wrong CSC.
I always backup my EFS in internal storage, but today I accidently wiped my entire internal storage. LOL
I have tried your method but unfortunately my imei is still missing, I'm totally frustrating. I will follow your thread. hope some expert can figure this out.
To everyone that has PM'd me, please bare with me. I have received a hell of a lot of PM's and I am trying to get through them all. Don't worry, I will definately reply and help you as best as I can.
Please make sure you are on your original stock firmware before trying this method. I notice a lot of people have PM'ed about CSC, I will PM you with info on how to revert this but please follow my steps exactly how I write them, a lot of people have PM'ed me to say "it's not working" but I have later found they are not following my steps exactly how I say and instead are taking shortcuts. If you take shortcuts then it's not going to work. I want to help you but you need to follow my exact instructions.

Hello, here a plea for help.
I tried to flash my stock N8000 via this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957002
I did try this several times, but it never completed: see the attached screen shot of what happens.
Now the device no longer boots normally. It begins to boot, then hangs on the Samsung logo.
Can someone help me here, as the original post seems dead....

Hello, and thanks for responding. Could you give me a hint/howto on where the standard ROM might be, and how to flash, or where to read up on that?
Sorry, a bit of a noob on this...
thanks.

Hello, as the device no longer boots its difficult to tell exactly which device it is, as there are at least 4 devices that seem to fit my device description. I've got the N8000, from GErmany, i received it as part of a package from E-plus. From that information there are 4 device ROM's available....one as late as 2015. Which should i take?
thanks again.

Hello,
I do need some help now. I believe i've followed all directions, but am not having success.
Again, my device is a Samsung N8000 Note 10.1. Purchased from Eplus Germany
I have read the directions in how to use Odin, and have followed them precisely.
Drivers installed.
Original Firmware downloaded (N8000XXUDNL1_N8000EPLDNL2_N8000XXUDNH1_Home.tar). But, in the compresesed file that I downloaded there was also another file (SS_DL.dll). Anyone know what this means?
I copied both files into the directory of Odin v3.12.13.
began Odin, then put the tablet into download mode, then connected it to my computer. There was a sound from my computer recognizing the tablet.
I then added the file firmware file (N8000XXUDNL1_N8000EPLDNL2_N8000XXUDNH1_Home.tar) into Odin under the AP tab. I checked that the re-partiton box was not checked, then klicked onto Start. But Odin failed after about 3 seconds.
Can anyone please help me here?
thanks.
Use tar file only .
<I copied both files into the directory of Odin v3.12.13.>Never heard of that before .
At a guess Odin cannot find the file or its not connected ID Box in odin shows as connected
Hello out there community...no one out there that can help me here? Please? ....

Hello, sorry but i need some more help here please.
I've downloaded what i believe is the stock firmware for my device from updato.com: GT-N8000_EPL_1_20150303173500_n47626s3xd
This is a zipped package with two file in it:
N8000XXUDNL1_N8000EPLDNL2_N8000XXUDNH1_Home.tar.md5
and
SS_DL.dll
I've put both of these files into the directory where ODIN is. I have downloaded and tried serveral ODIN versions: v1.85, v3.10.6, v3.12.7, v3.12.3, v3.07
None of them work. After loading the tar file, ODIN begins, then after about 3 seconds stops and show the message "fail".
Attached is a screen shot of ODIN once i've loaded the tar file, and one that shows after the fail.
I've also added a picture of my note 10.1 N8000 while in download mode.
Anyone can help me here?
thanks.
Download file .
Unzip file .
Put file on desktop .
Open Odin
Locate tar file only and add to PDA or AP
firmware that you are trying to install is a downgrade and the secure bootloader (sboot) is blocking it.

Hello, and thanks.
What you have described above is exactly what i am doing. Are you saying that the reason it does not work is because the bootloader is blocking it? If so, how do i get around this?
I would really like to "upgrade", rather than downgrade. But at the moment i cannot find any other firmwares for my device. A few years ago I saw several ones, but not anymore.
Do you have a suggestion of which firmware I should install, and where i can get this?
Again, thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it.
Looking at sammobile and updato last firmware is .
N8000XXSDQA7 android 4.4.2 .( the last version for note is 4.4.2 )
But they don't list bootloader versions .

Hello,
i tried to flash N8000XXSDQA7, but it also failed. Similar to all the others that i've tried to flash. I must be doing something fundamentally wrong, as the fail happeds after only about 3 seconds.
Any help you can offer? Really appreciate it.
thanks
I think that the bootloader section of your Note is damaged. The picture you posted shows right method of Odin flash

Ok, but what do i do if the bootloader is damaged? Can i fix it or flash it with another bootloader?
thanks.
Yes if you can get another bootloader .
Further steps are beyond my knowledge but have a look here .

Help with putting new firmware on S7

Hey guys i am very new to this and have done a lot of research and i'm in need of some help, I tried to put new firmware onto my Samsung S7 but it failed, long story short i can't get it to boot up normally now. I can put it into download mode and then the recovery mode.
In Download mode it says this
Product Name: SM-G930F
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
FRP Lock: On
Secure Download: Enabled
Warranty Void: 0
In Recovery Mode it says
samsung/heroltexx/herolte
7.0/NRD90M/G930FXXU1DQJ1
No Support SINGLE - SKU
Supported API: 3
dm-Verity error ...
E: Failed to mount /system (Invalid Argument)
I have done this in the past and haven't had any issues with it, but no matter what i do i cant get it to boot up. I've tried the kies and smart switch to put the normal firmware back on but it says this device isn't supported and so it wont load it on. I have tried multiple firmwares from sammobile using AP,BL,CP and i did put in the CSC one also at some stage.
I hope this is enough information if i have missed anything please let me know, hopefully someone has some answers or suggestions. Thanks guys
Make sure you are using ODIN 3.12.3 or newer, older versions don't work properly
First off, Kies no longer supports Galaxy S7, actually never did.
What you can try, use odin (latest version 3.12.7 I think), download your firmware and include all 5 files in odin. You cannot ignore CSC file.
So in order, put BL, AP, CP and CSC and... pit file.
In order to have pit file, you need to make o copy of CSC file, change extension of that copy file to .zip, extract files and inside you will find pit file. Include it in odin in Pit card.
Then flash your phone and report back.

No Luck, i tried what you said and this is what happens
https://imgur.com/a/QQGAn
Re-Partition was automatically ticked, should i try it again and have it un-ticked? or have i totally buggered it?
Try different cable and/or USB port and/or even computer.
Your phone is ok-ish. You only have to manage to flash software and should be up and running.

Well im glad its alright haha, ill keep trying different things as you suggested! Hopefully i have some luck. Thank you
Okay bit of an update on what i have attempted - Still no luck at all,
Tried different Odin verisons
Tried multiple firmwares all downloaded from SamMobile & Correct country/carrier etc
The BL,CP and CSC all seem to work fine when i do them by themselves or seperately but i can never get AP to work, it always fails at Sys.img and doesn't go any further.. it always fails about 1/4 of the way through
Tried the PIT partition with and without re-partition clicked
Tried different cables and Ports
anyone have anymore suggestions or is it dead
Did you try using Smart Switch on pc and recover software that way?

Phone must be in Download Mode for ODIN
Make sure you have downloaded the correct firmware
It could be the internal memory fault. That's why it stops at 1/4 each time.

Thats what I suggested earlier on, but there seems to be loads of other threads recently, where people's phones fails at loading "system" in odin.

How to flash new models stock firmware using odin 3.12?

Hi, I know this is basic for the developers but it confuses me. I used to use Odin v3.07 to flash stock firmware which comes in one md5 file. Now with Odin v3.12 and the new phone models, the firmware zip file comes in 5 md5 files:
1. The first one starts with HOME_CSC
2. The second one starts with CSC
3. The third one starts with CP
4. The fourth one starts with BL
5. The fifth one starts with AP
I know I should put 3, 4, 5 files in the corresponding place. But the problem is with file 1 and file 2.
1.

Should I select one of them for the CSC button? but which one? and what's the difference between them?
Thank you.
Hi,
The csc is to leave the terminal as it just left the factory
The home_csc leaves you the terminal as you currently have only updating the rest of the firmware.
I hope you have explained me well because my English is not very good.

File 1 only with the rest.
Leave file 2 alone unless you want your device factory resetting.
