Help with putting new firmware on S7 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys i am very new to this and have done a lot of research and i'm in need of some help, I tried to put new firmware onto my Samsung S7 but it failed, long story short i can't get it to boot up normally now. I can put it into download mode and then the recovery mode.
In Download mode it says this
Product Name: SM-G930F
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
FRP Lock: On
Secure Download: Enabled
Warranty Void: 0
In Recovery Mode it says
samsung/heroltexx/herolte
7.0/NRD90M/G930FXXU1DQJ1
No Support SINGLE - SKU
Supported API: 3
dm-Verity error ...
E: Failed to mount /system (Invalid Argument)
I have done this in the past and haven't had any issues with it, but no matter what i do i cant get it to boot up. I've tried the kies and smart switch to put the normal firmware back on but it says this device isn't supported and so it wont load it on. I have tried multiple firmwares from sammobile using AP,BL,CP and i did put in the CSC one also at some stage.
I hope this is enough information if i have missed anything please let me know, hopefully someone has some answers or suggestions. Thanks guys

Make sure you are using ODIN 3.12.3 or newer, older versions don't work properly

First off, Kies no longer supports Galaxy S7, actually never did.
What you can try, use odin (latest version 3.12.7 I think), download your firmware and include all 5 files in odin. You cannot ignore CSC file.
So in order, put BL, AP, CP and CSC and... pit file.
In order to have pit file, you need to make o copy of CSC file, change extension of that copy file to .zip, extract files and inside you will find pit file. Include it in odin in Pit card.
Then flash your phone and report back.

No Luck, i tried what you said and this is what happens
https://imgur.com/a/QQGAn
Re-Partition was automatically ticked, should i try it again and have it un-ticked? or have i totally buggered it?

Try different cable and/or USB port and/or even computer.
Your phone is ok-ish. You only have to manage to flash software and should be up and running.

Well im glad its alright haha, ill keep trying different things as you suggested! Hopefully i have some luck. Thank you

Okay bit of an update on what i have attempted - Still no luck at all,
Tried different Odin verisons
Tried multiple firmwares all downloaded from SamMobile & Correct country/carrier etc
The BL,CP and CSC all seem to work fine when i do them by themselves or seperately but i can never get AP to work, it always fails at Sys.img and doesn't go any further.. it always fails about 1/4 of the way through
Tried the PIT partition with and without re-partition clicked
Tried different cables and Ports
anyone have anymore suggestions or is it dead

Phone must be in Download Mode for ODIN
Make sure you have downloaded the correct firmware

It could be the internal memory fault. That's why it stops at 1/4 each time.

Thats what I suggested earlier on, but there seems to be loads of other threads recently, where people's phones fails at loading "system" in odin.

Custom binary blocked by FRP lock.

Ok, here goes.
Have a SM-G930W8 (Canada, Rogers, S7). Was running a 7.0 ROM from XDA (ambassadii? sp?). I disabled developer options to check a possible issue transferring files from my PC to the S7's SD Card. I restarted the device.
Custom binary blocked by FRP lock. No problem, thought I. I'll boot into Download Mode, fire up Odin and flash the stock rom back to the device (also what I've read in most every thread I've come across). Launch ODIN as admin, see the device is connected, select the proper AP(also BL, CSC and CP...I'm thorough) file to flash (from Sammobile I think it was), make sure repartition is unchecked and hit Start.
Here's the result...wait I can't post them but I have the screen shots! The phone shows Secure Check Fail (PIT). Odin gives an error at that step as well.
I've tried Kies (there's no SN anywhere on my device or on the box) so that doesn't work. Smart Switch, same issue.
Does ANYONE out there have any clue what I can attempt next? Sending it in for service will likely cost as much as a new device, with the warranty void. Thank you very much in advance.

Are you able to boot into recovery?
If not you could try to ONLY flash the stock recovery>boot recovery>wipe everything then boot to download mode and flash complete stock firmware via odin.
or flash stock firmware with the same CSC as your custom rom has/ flash "HOME_CSC" instead of "CSC..."
good luck

Try to only flash AP, I did have the same problem as you describe but I cant remember how I resolved it, I'm on G930F tho
Your S/N is on the rear of the phone it can be a pain to see but it is there. Use smart switch to restore the firmware. Just click emergency firmware restore.
It is? The IMEI is there but I didn't see the SN. Also my phone is black so that doesn't help.
I will have another look.

I did that. No dice.
I had the same issue as you. Used the same rom and disabled developer options. I downloaded stock firmware.. flashed it with odin. It actually took 2 tries. The first time I could see only 1/4 of the screen. The second time i flashed stock firmware from another country and it worked. You might actually have to do a hard factory reset if you cant unlock your phone.. for some reason. Then I let kies do its magic because I could then see my S/N. Right now I still feel my phone slightly different. Messenger is unstable for some reason also.
Ok.
Checked the back of the device for a SN#. Mine's black so I used a flashlight. It's not there. The Model #, IMEI, FCC ID# and IC# are all there. Does someone have a blurred out screeny of where THEY found their SN# on the back of the device?
Tried flashing with Odin the CSC(home) and AP files (stock MM from my region). Got: Custom Binary (Boot) blocked by FRP Lock.
Tried flashing TWRP again, to TRY to enter into recovery...same message.
With just the AP selected, ODIN seems to hang at "Get PIT for mapping" and fails. I'm running it again to make sure it's not a bad connection with the device.
Same result, hangs at "Get PIT for mapping".

Try to flash Nougat firmware, as that was what your custom rom was on right? I dont think it really matters though as I downgraded from stock 7.0 to stock 6.0.1 via odin without errors... But you can try
As an absolute last resort I would try to check the "re-partition"-tab and provide odin with a .pit file, then load everything (BL, AP, CP...) with stock firmware <<<< do this at your own risk, if you are not careful, your phone will be bricked
I am trying to flash MM back to it .
I'm not sure I want to mess with the re partition table...But it's already soft bricked.
Mine is also black. The S/N Is immediately next to the imei number I had to use a flash light to see it but it's deffinatly there.

I'd show you a photo if I could. The IMEI is by itself on a third line of stuff. There's nothing else around it.

I'm not sure then. Have you tried flashing the latest unlocked version for your region? I remember on my s6 I had a similar problem that was caused because I was trying to flash a lower version of Android than what I previously had. So ended up flashing the latest unlocked version BTU for my region and it worked. Sorry I can't be of more help. It looks like the latest firmware is still 6.0.1 that's why it's blocking it from downgrading.
Was sent a PM by a person. Was skeptical at first, but in 10 minutes using TeamViewer, they fixed the issue by reflashing the device (as well as repartitioning it properly). I can't thank them enough.

Help: tried to flash recovery N8000, failed

Hello, here a plea for help.
I tried to flash my stock N8000 via this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957002
I did try this several times, but it never completed: see the attached screen shot of what happens.
Now the device no longer boots normally. It begins to boot, then hangs on the Samsung logo.
Can someone help me here, as the original post seems dead....
thanks.

Hello, as the device no longer boots its difficult to tell exactly which device it is, as there are at least 4 devices that seem to fit my device description. I've got the N8000, from GErmany, i received it as part of a package from E-plus. From that information there are 4 device ROM's available....one as late as 2015. Which should i take?

Hello,
I do need some help now. I believe i've followed all directions, but am not having success.
Again, my device is a Samsung N8000 Note 10.1. Purchased from Eplus Germany
I have read the directions in how to use Odin, and have followed them precisely.
Drivers installed.
Original Firmware downloaded (N8000XXUDNL1_N8000EPLDNL2_N8000XXUDNH1_Home.tar). But, in the compresesed file that I downloaded there was also another file (SS_DL.dll). Anyone know what this means?
I copied both files into the directory of Odin v3.12.13.
began Odin, then put the tablet into download mode, then connected it to my computer. There was a sound from my computer recognizing the tablet.
I then added the file firmware file (N8000XXUDNL1_N8000EPLDNL2_N8000XXUDNH1_Home.tar) into Odin under the AP tab. I checked that the re-partiton box was not checked, then klicked onto Start. But Odin failed after about 3 seconds.
Can anyone please help me here?
thanks.
Use tar file only .
<I copied both files into the directory of Odin v3.12.13.>Never heard of that before .
At a guess Odin cannot find the file or its not connected ID Box in odin shows as connected

Hello, sorry but i need some more help here please.
I've downloaded what i believe is the stock firmware for my device from updato.com: GT-N8000_EPL_1_20150303173500_n47626s3xd
This is a zipped package with two file in it:
N8000XXUDNL1_N8000EPLDNL2_N8000XXUDNH1_Home.tar.md5
and
SS_DL.dll
I've put both of these files into the directory where ODIN is. I have downloaded and tried serveral ODIN versions: v1.85, v3.10.6, v3.12.7, v3.12.3, v3.07
None of them work. After loading the tar file, ODIN begins, then after about 3 seconds stops and show the message "fail".
Attached is a screen shot of ODIN once i've loaded the tar file, and one that shows after the fail.
I've also added a picture of my note 10.1 N8000 while in download mode.
Anyone can help me here?
thanks.
Download file .
Unzip file .
Put file on desktop .
Open Odin
Locate tar file only and add to PDA or AP
firmware that you are trying to install is a downgrade and the secure bootloader (sboot) is blocking it.

Hello, and thanks.
What you have described above is exactly what i am doing. Are you saying that the reason it does not work is because the bootloader is blocking it? If so, how do i get around this?
I would really like to "upgrade", rather than downgrade. But at the moment i cannot find any other firmwares for my device. A few years ago I saw several ones, but not anymore.
Do you have a suggestion of which firmware I should install, and where i can get this?
Again, thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it.

N8000XXSDQA7 android 4.4.2 .( the last version for note is 4.4.2 )

Unable to download older firmware

Hey guys, I really screwed up big time with my S7. My model is the SM-G930F. I have numbered my mistakes below so it is easier to follow.
1) I wanted to root my phone, so I followed the guide for HighonAndroid on youtube.
2) Fast forward, got TWRP and flashed Magisk root v16 and samsung anti-root removal 2.4.
3) Restarted phone and got this message along the lines of "integrity of phone has been damaged... please factory reset"
4) I advanced factory reset, and also accidentally ticked the software reset as well :crying:
5) Phone is bricked, and stuck in bootloading error. Cannot be turned off, it would just continue to recycle the Samsung S7 screen on repeat until put into TWRP mode...
6) Can only assess download mode and TWRP mode
If you are still following, this is where I am stuck ATM. I just want a working phone at this point...
7) Download official 7.0 nougat software for my phone model.
8) Odin the firmware over however the message stays stuck at this: https://imgur.com/a/UMQPw

If anybody can help that will be great, thanks!
Looks like Odin is not signing a com port to the phone.
Drivers are installed? Tried different usb cables and usb ports?

The phone stays connected, but the second I flash my phone just reboots.
You're not flashing BL, CP, and CSC?
I was under the impression S7 was beyond the time of using single tar/md5 files, you should have 4 separate files (BL, CP, CSC, AP). Where'd you get the firmware?
Try updato.com or sammobile.com, even the oldest S7 firmware I've downloaded still came with the 4 firmware files.

Yes I got the file from sammobile. I have tried flashing the 4 files however alas, it again just reboots my phone. I will follow up with an image when I get home and try it out again.

Yeah here we go: https://imgur.com/a/FF0Rd
Still does not work. It continues to reboot. Tried different computers the phone will just reboot. Is there any hope left? I can access TWRP, meaning is it possible to restore/flash a backup from another user?
You can try Smart Switch which is the official method of a factory flash.
Otherwise for Odin if I recall correctly the latest firmware will chuck a fit if you aren't flashing the right firmware for your country, since the DRAG bootloader is meant to be more locked down.
You could also try different Odin versions maybe https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
You could try a stock ROM flash via zip like super stock or superman choosing clean install. Would be easier than trying to orchestrate a backup from someone.
Is there any errors that I have now seem consistent with anybody else's issue? Something like I might be flashing the wrong firmware into my phone, as a result the phone just reboots in download mode?
I have tried using both the new and old versions of odin and it still has the same result.
I am using the phone model SM-G930FZDAXSG
Really thanks a lot guys. Just having you guys readily available took a lot of stress off my chest. Someone cares
The issue has just been resolved! Yey. The problem was not running odin in administrator mode. As a result, my phone would just reboot instantaneously after flashing.

Galaxy S4 GT 19505 bricked?

Hi guys,
I am having trouble recovering my galaxy s4. I have downloaded odin and stock firmware and followed the tutorial to reflash firmware but it always fails with the same message Deviceinfo fail. I have attached a ic of the screen. The phone originally had German firmware on it at level 5.0.1 lollipop. I can get the phone into the right state to flash and have tried several different BG firmwares
GT-I9505_1_20161201163515_lgwvgkwp4u
I9505XXUGNG8_I9505YXYGNH2_BTU
I always end up with the same error. It would be great if some guru could give me a hint on what I am doing wrong. BTW I am running windows 10 the Galaxy drivers I am using are 1.7.43.0 and Odin3 is V3.14.4.
Cheers Guys
Steve

Thanks for response but that doesnt fix it . It just puts the phone into the firmware updae state
That's download mode....
If you're new to this stuff, please don't. Don't waste time and a good working phone for whatever youtube tutorial you saw.

I have flashed images before with no problem. This had German firmware on it and was trying to get a UK image on it. I followed the process posted here on this forum not a youtube tut. I would have thought tutorials on this forum should be good???

Tutorials here are revised and trustworthy, what's not trustworthy is the user who's is flashing the phone. As I specifically said "If you're new to this" which means if anything goes awry, it's your fault and no one is responsible. Of course someone here would help you if that happens and you ask nicely.
Flashing UK variant might cause issues with the SIM services on the device, like issues with calls, messages, etc.
Flashing a different ROM doesn't necessarily mean you have a better device.

Thanks for the info and accept what you say. it maybe I have tried to flash the wrong image on the phone and got myself in this position as I didnt want the german image with its apps. We all have to learn somewhere and have had no issues other times but I am trying to recover from this now and XDA is where I am looking for support.
Cheers

I already gave you the solution, this should put your device in download mode and solve the problem with odin.
After following these steps, just flash ROM files.

I think you may have to format the partitions and flash the ROM. Doing so will delete everything on your device.

Just in case you don't know how to:
Extract PIT file from CSC file.
Open Odin and put the PIT file in the PIT tab.
Check re-partition option in options tab.
Put BL, AP, CP and CSC files and flash.
To extract the PIT file from the CSC file:
Rename the CSC file extension from MD5 to ZIP then extract it in a folder.
Rename the CSC file extension back from ZIP to MD5.
Only put files from the UK variant or whatever ROM your going to flash.

Cheers XDHx86 will give this a go
Hi XDHx86 I think I know what's going wrong here. All the images I have downloaded have 1 x.MD5. and 1 x.dll in them.
EG: I9505XXUHOJ2_I9505BTUHOJ1_I9505XXUHOJ2_HOME.tar.md5 and SS_DL.dll. Although some of the downloads say there should be 4 files. BL AP CP & CSC. I dont see any of these? In odin I have been clicking on AP and pointing to the md5 fil which fails. I think I need to get an image that has those 4 files.
Thanks again for your help on this

Haha, that's really unexpected situation. I don't think anyone would have predicted that.
Anyway glad it worked out in the end.
