Just change the camera frame from 16:9 to 4:3 standard
Its because of the camera frame 16:9 is wide that is why the 3.8mp but 5mp is squarish so 4:3
Ok now i got it.

Which resolution is better for Images? 20MP or 12MP

Hi All,
I am bit confused about the the default image resolution in camera of MATE 9.
Need your experience and review which one will be better? 20MP or 12 MP?

**Xiaomi Mi9 Camera**

Hi all!
Thanks for clicking on this thread!
my Question is simple and straightforward: if I buy the Mi9 will Gcam use all the 48Mp of the sensor or just 12mp? And if it will only use 12mp will this be because pixel-bining will still work\happen or just because Pixel phones(for which gcam was made) only have 12mp camera and that is the limit? So I will actually LOSE quality compared to Stock cam mi9? Mi8 only had 12mp sensor so I can't just look in that forum for answers. Sony Phones have more MP but they don't support gcam because of the api.
I have only tested Gcam on my MIX 2 and that phone is also only 12mp sensor.
I am pondering at the moment between getting mi9 or s10+.. but price of s10+ is a bit high and from the samples i saw already s10+ doesn't shoot better quality than my s9+ (with zeroprobe's camera mod) since it has the exact same sensors as s9+ only with the ultrawide one added. I have the feeling that mi9 with gcam has the potential to be better than s10 since my mix2 (which has a ****ty single camera) can rival the s9+ with the help of gcam.
Thank you in advance!

It can only read 12mp subsampling pixels (0.8micron). Not 12mp pixelbinning 1.6micron
It's so bad, when you zoom in 2x, it crop to 3mp effective resolution
I don't like this idea
S10+ has poor camera2api, you can't access wide and tele lens, no f2.4 option (f1.5 one is not so clear)

Does pixel binning work on stock camera app?

The front camera resolution is 20 mp and the photos it takes are quite nice. But it apparantly supports pixel binning for low light conditions, but I have never seen it work. Gcam produces way better quality selfies that are 5 mp. So I guess it uses pixel binning or it's just their processing.
Whatever be the case, I want to if anyone has seen pixel binning actually work by the stock camera app.

Hi, late reply but worth mentioning. I have been doing my homework looking into why my 20MP front camera takes 5MP like shots. Well this is because there is pixel binning.
The stock camera app does take 20MP shots but the quality is very comparable to 5MP due to pixel binning. All other camera apps have so far produced real 5MP photos. In the end I prefer to keep the other apps and not waste my time with stock camera as it only gives a higher resolution, along with a heavier file, only to get a 5MP quality picture.
I am looking into finding a possible way to get a proper 20MP photo without pixel binning that may produce better quality photos.
I have moto one 5G(UW) , it's have 48 MP camera but due to Pixel binning it comes out with 12MP picture, i want to disable Pixel binning, is there any App that help me out.
That'll be appreciated if you help me out

Question about telephoto and wide lenses in Gcam

Hello Guys, as the Gcam photo quality beats the quality of the oneplus camera ( in general) I'm thinking to root my oneplus 7 pro just to utilize telephoto and wide lenses in Gcam, so is it worth it ? does the quality differs compared to stock cam? thnx
