Hi guys, I purchased S21+ around 2 weeks ago and today I noticed a tiny small dot in the center of my phone's screen. My phone didn't fell down, or anything that could damage the screen.
Anyone else facing this issue?
it's funny that you try to take screenshot of it but didn't work out that thing is called dead pixel
there are many android app on play store that supposedly "fix" dead pixel

Your confusing your terminology .... Look warranty definition
Use this app to test:
Screen Test - Apps on Google Play
Screen test under full screen mode. Dead Pixel, Burn-In, Backlight Bleeding.
play.google.com
If it fails it's hardware; defective display.
Go for a new replacement. ASAP!!!
You shouldn't have waited this long.

Hi Android GURUs,
Please your help needed. I'm new to Android (i've always used Iphone), I have brand new Nexus 5, bought in UK 8 days ago. Last few days I'm having this major problem with the screen. The problem occurs when I start using the phone for 15-20mins. It's absolutely impossible to use the phone screen .
The screen starts shaking everything in gets mixed up, flickers and impossible to use it. I tried to restart it and nothing happens.
When I leave it for 30 mins it behaves normal again but after 15-20mins using the same problem again.
I'm thinking whether I mad wrong decision moving to android, please prove me wrong and tell me android also as good as iPhone.
I'm new to this forum hence NOT allowed to link my youtube video where I could link it.
Please any1 send me email I'll reply with my youtube link.
many thanks
Sounds like you have a faulty device. Nothing to do with Android or the phone at all.. Just bad luck.. Can happen to anything that you get one that has a manufacturen problem.

You may have a faulty device, this flickering is not software related but is caused by faulty hardware imo. Exchange i asap as its soon going to die on you.

Very clearly a graphics card glitch. Bad memory by the looks of it. Very similar to the issues seen on the tegra3. Get it returned!
Not even anything to do with the screen; this is the graphics unit. When the GPU is damaged you usually get artifact and strange line emitting from the middle of the screen, the issue you have usually occurs when the memory on the GPU is damaged. Faulty screen redraws etc.
Regardless, not a screen issue but a graphics card/memory issue. Needs replacement, no software by the looks of it.

Either way you will need to replace the device. So send it back where ever you got it from so you can get it exchanged.
I also highly doubt its an Android 4.4 bug... Because of 2 things:
Your the only one with the problem, if it really was an Android 4.4 bug you would see more people with this problem.
Screen flickering most of the time is either a hardware defect or a driver problem.

My Nexus 5 screen is now starting shift up and down. I bought it in Nov 2013 so it is now out of warrantee so cant just return it. Is there a fix for this?
Check out my nexus 5 screen shake. It's my RMA unit. And my warranty is over. Looks like I have to buy another phone then. This is hugely disappointing.

I have been using my Nexus 5 from 2013 too. I just got this issue and I tried to fix it my self by taking the mobile apart. somehow i got a boot loop and I flashed all system again. definitely hardware issue because this happens in my recovery too.

Did you ever find a solution?
I have a nexus 5 rooted with stock rom and kernel and stock recovery+ xposed+GravityBox and some other xposed modules.
this happened sunday and again today.
I unlocked the screen and then the screen looked like that:
even on reboot the screen still was with the pixel snow
and after a few minutes of locking and unlocking repeatedly the screen turned OK again.
couldn't find a lot of information online.
does anyone knows why has this happened?
has someone experienced this kind of failure?
any advice?
thanks.
It's a hardware failure. Most probably the screen or the Flex cable went bad. It can only be solved by replacing it.
Definitely a hardware fault.... Had exactly the same screen on my n86 when the repair guyz told me that flex cable was damaged...
thanks..
the problem is I bought the phone on ebay and had it sent to my uncle who was in the states for a business trip and then he brought it to me when he finished his trip.
I'm not from the US so I don't know who should I complain to :\
sending it back to the US and **** will take a lot of time and probably money

Totally depends on the device's IMEI. If the IMEI if not of the country you're residing in, warranty goes out of the window. In any case, you need to send it in to get it fixed whether it's under warranty or not.
Good Luck :good:

Not much can be done, you could try to get a new screen and substitute it. Hardware failure is impossible to fix...
Is this problem universal with moto g?
Sorry i have failed to mention this
but my phone is still under its warranty, i bought it this april,2014.
so any idea what budget will i be looking at if its a hardware failure and my screen gets replaced?
My friend also have same problem so you think its is a universal issue with moto g display?

Then use your warranty, it's free to get your phone repaired under warranty.
Otherwise the screen with the digitizer costs about 30-35 usd from China and it's needs glue to be assembled back tougher ( and some knowledge ofc ).

my screen is the same. i was a bit more lucky and the line is 0.3cm away from the edge and not in the middle of the screen like yours.
i have 2 problems:
- i am from slovenia and i bought moto g from tesco through a company that gave me fake british id.
- i am rooted so i dont know if i still am under warranty.
can i take my moto g to nearest motorola repair shop and use my warranty?
Rooting voids warranty
the warranty is void as soon as you root your phone
and i have called up motorola customer services and they said that display and other hardwares are not included in warranty but still they might be able to help if they can have a look at the set
Good evening lads, I'm facing some problems with my display, the LCD presented some dots, more like small sqares(with sharp corners), they are not busted pixels (they're to big to be busted pixels), in different areas of the screen.. More on the bottom, and a few on the middle of the screen..
I should mention that i have not dropped the phone so that the dots would have an explication.
I made this thread in order to see if there are any other users who experienced this problem, and if they did.. What it could be done
Ive got a few on mine. I counted 6 or 7 just on the top half of the screen. A few on the bottom half. I only see them when phone is booting up on the black bootloader screen. They show up green.
Mine are visible all the time, Would vodafone warranty cover them ? Because, tehnically..it's not an software problem(That I could cause)

It has to. If you haven't dropped your phone, then those spots are hardware issue.
They gave you a faulty device, and you have the right to get it fixed/replaced for free.

btw: I have an unlocked bootloader/root/etc, but..still, that is software, it would be impossible for me to damage the LCD trought an software :-s

You will have to return the phone fully to stock properties.
There is a thread which shows you how to fully restore stock rom, relock bootloader, etc.
Even rooting violates your warranty.
Bootloader unlock is even worse.

I did, I flashed an stock recovery, locked the bootloader, deleted the whole system/boot/cache,etc..basically wiped everything, and on my warranty chart, I noted that my phone isn't turning on after an update trought official app, and that I have white spots on the display[this was the one that interested me], so..They took it, and gave me a new one after an review in service[I forgot to make the partitions back as they were, but..they didn't looked there]
Thank you, T.C
Hello, yesterday I received my phone. For the first hour it was working fine. But later, when I locked the phone I couldn't enter my password or shut down because phone started touching random things by itself. Did a factory reset but after that I can't even setup the phone because it doing random things by itself. Tried to discharge the phone and leave it overnight. But the next day it was the same story. I even peeled of screen protector but no luck. I think it's not system related issue, might be that I got the faulty one with bad touchscreen? Has anyone had this issue?
Mine doesn't has any touch issues. Seems a manufacturing defect, better off exchanging/returning it.

The problem is that I bought it overseas and returning it back would take very long because of the corona I"m wondering what's the problem could be, touchscreen or something more serious like motherboard. If it only screen I might change it by myself
Return it under warranty. The second you open it that is gone and if the problem persists, then you are screwed...
Not only have you lost the purchase price of the phone but the cost of the replacement screen too which generally aren't cheap...

Yeah, I get it. Also, Xiaomi have international warranty or only local? Because would be great if it could be changed at my country. But as far as I know it has just local warranty from where it was bought or am I wrong?

from where is your phone region? it can happen from many possibilities. maybe from the kernel. You can try to flash using miflash according to the firmware region.
or try to enter stock recovery, is it random touch or not. (vol + & power)
new phone is still a warranty, it's good to go to a xiaomi service center
My case was, when the phone was brand new power button was stucked . But after using it few times, everything was fine. It didn't happen again

In my case it was faulty digitizer, after replacament everything is fine. I bought it overseas so no international warranty, but seller refunded me half the price. I went for the screen replacment and after that everything works fine.
