Faulty screen 6039y - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening lads, I'm facing some problems with my display, the LCD presented some dots, more like small sqares(with sharp corners), they are not busted pixels (they're to big to be busted pixels), in different areas of the screen.. More on the bottom, and a few on the middle of the screen..
I should mention that i have not dropped the phone so that the dots would have an explication.
I made this thread in order to see if there are any other users who experienced this problem, and if they did.. What it could be done

Ive got a few on mine. I counted 6 or 7 just on the top half of the screen. A few on the bottom half. I only see them when phone is booting up on the black bootloader screen. They show up green.

Mine are visible all the time, Would vodafone warranty cover them ? Because, tehnically..it's not an software problem(That I could cause)

It has to. If you haven't dropped your phone, then those spots are hardware issue.
They gave you a faulty device, and you have the right to get it fixed/replaced for free.

I'm gonna go over there on Monday to see if they will change/repaid my device.
btw: I have an unlocked bootloader/root/etc, but..still, that is software, it would be impossible for me to damage the LCD trought an software :-s

You will have to return the phone fully to stock properties.
There is a thread which shows you how to fully restore stock rom, relock bootloader, etc.
Even rooting violates your warranty.
Bootloader unlock is even worse.

I did, I flashed an stock recovery, locked the bootloader, deleted the whole system/boot/cache,etc..basically wiped everything, and on my warranty chart, I noted that my phone isn't turning on after an update trought official app, and that I have white spots on the display[this was the one that interested me], so..They took it, and gave me a new one after an review in service[I forgot to make the partitions back as they were, but..they didn't looked there]
Thank you, T.C

Did my touchscreen die?

Hello everyone,
Today i installed my parrot bluetooth carkit. And after i connected a couple of times my phone became unstable.
So unstable that i'm not able to tap the screen.....
I don't know what happened due that i have hard resetted the phone a couple of times and even switched from m-rom to energyrom 3.0 with the same results.
Only one thing that was strange is that the touch pro start up screen with the red characters in the right bottom.
That after i flashed m-rom to energy rom that the touch pro characters in the middle were still different like the way that are made in m-rom. With the addition : powered by m-rom
So this means that the phone doesnt format his core
Help please give me any advice.
UPDATE:When backlight is dimmed, it will be bright if i touch it once. Afterwards it will maintain the same.
I have tried several roms and tried to restore my SPL aswell, without any results till now.
I'm getting desperate now. Due that i stays in the screen of ALLIGNMENT, so i'm really not able to start up anything from now.
Have you dropped your device recently?
Try flashing a stock/shipped rom and hard-reset when after flashing the rom when you get to the "Tap here to set up your device" screen.
I have a OIL spot in the screen when i keep it in bright light.
This could be occured when the phone was inside my bag during my beach visit.....
I guess the phone turned liquid by the sun....
Does somebody ever experienced the same issue?

I have a oil spot, and the raster of the phone with little dots in visible in the ligt.
I have made a repair order at HTC.
Which didn't satisfy me at all!
They told me that it is not covered by warranty. I was shocked, this will cost me around 70 euro to fix, and my shop warranty is still valid. So i called the shop to explain this.
And they said if this is not caused by a user, we will change the phone, but first we what to have a diagnose from HTC.
So i decided to let HTC pick up my phone . They will have a repair time of 5 up till 10 days.
That's fair, but i'm not really happy with this situation. Because i think that the screen is the most harmful component. And this means that if this part fails that my phone becomes obsolete.
I will post my conclusion after i got my phone repaired.
I will return to the STOCK spl and the original rom just for warranty purposes.
dont tell them that you spilt anything on it or dropped it. Although they will be able to tell if there is water damage to the device you might get lucky and they won't notice.
Now is the oil spot from leaving it in the sun or suntan lotion getting in the device?

Nope nothing happened at all.
Thats the strange thing about this situation.
I was in the shadow of the sun and the bags were only filled with clothes. So it didn't drop or something else.
I was able to use my phone during the day.... and was getting more unresponsive during the time that went by.
So i will not accept any blame of myself, due that i have a warranty of 1 year from the factory which will not cover your display :S
But also have the store warranty... So i told the store that i will return the phone if there are any costs.
The store told me that they will wait on the diagnose of HTC which i have sent it to myself to reduce the time.
If the diagnose tells that it's not my fault, then i can return my phone probably.... He couldn't promise it due that i want to see the diagnose first.
So I will wait on HTC's conclusion.... And i'm afraid that they will try to blame me for it....
They better not I will be a pain in there arses
Hello, I have exactly the same problem. After flashing from energyrom 3.0 to Aurora, a few hours later, i couldn't get my phone out of lock. (slide a button to the right or left on your touchscreen)
I tried a soft reset, but the phone started up with the same locked screen. So, i tried a hard reset. From that moment on i got stuck at "align screen". I ve flashed several times with several ROM's but nothing. (by the way, whatever rom i install, the first screen always says: Energyrom by NTGZ28)
I used the trick to paste welcome.not on the micro card, to bypass the align screen. That works, but the touch screen doesn't work. I 've removed the protection of the screen, but that doesn't make a difference either. My device didn't fall, came into contact with water or anything that could harm the thing. Oh, when the backlight is dimmed, the screen reacts to tapping it. Please help me out ??
resolt the issue. Because of a lot scraches (spelled ok?), i removed the protective screen. When i put the new screen on, everything worked !

[Q] Need SERIOUS help with my skyrocket!

Hey guys.
I have an SGS2 Skyrocket that boots but nothing ever shows up on the screen!
I held the power button and it does in fact boot the samsung logo never shows up.
The keys at the bottom light up but still nothing.
Seeing that everything worked i booted the phone into download mode to see if it would fix it (i still couldnt see anything, i was just going off of the vibrations)
So I decided to go ahead and flash back to stock GB from odin.
It went through successfully and it booted my phone back up.
Still nothing showing up on the screen...
Can someone please help me?
Sounds like a broken/cracked/bad LCD or digitizer problem.
Was it dropped? Left in direct sunlight? Leaving it back pocket and sitting on it? ...
So seek out a new LCD replacement. From your thorough explanation (awesome description of the problem!) It sounds like your logic board is fully functional.
So you should be good to go with a new LCD which runs around $100+/-$10 but check both eBay and amazon. And watch some youtube videos to see how the phone teardown works or pay a little extra to a repair shop to get it fixed.

It indeed sounds like you display is shot. If your phone is under a year old Samsung will replace it for about 160 bucks. If not then you can do it yourself. Here's an excellent photo write-up for the procedure:

Its a brand new screen.
The last one had cracked and i did replace it.
When i had turned it back on it was like this unfortunately.
Could it be a Hardware failure or something with the motherboard?

[Q] I Update my gf N5 to 4.4.3 and now everything is gone even the flash drive, help!

We updated the phone to 4.4.3 her phone is a plain vainilla N5, locked and unrooted. when it finished, the phone restarted and it was like we turn on the phone for the first time. the welcome and initial setup screen appeared. Since I sideloaded mine(mine is working fine). I didnt know if this was normal or not.
After the phone started. Two little notification icons appeared on the top left of the screen which I have never seen before. I tried to take a screenshot, but there was an error telling me I couldnt take a screenshot
http://imgur.com/3psmPCi [1]
One of the icons says there's no much space left. So I look at the storage screen and now the phone only has 128Mb of total space available
http://imgur.com/ewJDeOA [2]
everything is missing, photos, apps, contacts, everything. I tried to do a factory reset, but the final button is not working. it doenst do anything.
I tried to start the recovery through the bootloader and I get the sick android screen.
http://i.imgur.com/AwEo5tk [3]
I dont know what to do. I dont know if should flash a stock image or something. But I dont know what's the deal with the flash drive total space.
Any else has run into this? Any ideas?
EDIT:
I tried unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom recovery. No luck. After rebooting to into the custom recovery. The phone locks the bootloader again and there's no custom recovery anymore.
Also, everytime I turn off and on the phone. The initial setup screen comes up every time.
The device locks the bootloader again after unlocking it? Sounds like the eMMC chip is busted.
Try to flash a factory image, if that doesn't work you are screwed

You could try unlocking the bootloader again and see if it unlocks?? If not, the motherboard needs to be swapped. No idea how it happened, it's a random hardware failure very common with the Nexus 5. I've seen lots of devices with a busted eMMC chip. It's strange that you can still boot into your OS. May be the chip is partly damaged. Anyways, it needs to be replaced.

What are my options then? A couple of months ago we had to replace the screen through a third-party. Should I do an RMA with Google/LG. How do I explain this situation to them? Would they notice that I replace the screen?

If you've bought the device from google play store, then contact google and explain them your situation. I'm not sure whether they will notice it or not. If they open up the device, they might notice it.
If you've bought it elsewhere then visit a LG Service center and let them take a look at the device.
As per warranty guidelines, any 3rd Party repairs performed on the device voids the warranty. So, there's a strong possibility that you/your gf might need to pay up.

Seems to be a screen failure... send it to warranty if you still can.

Not much can be done, you could try to get a new screen and substitute it. Hardware failure is impossible to fix...
Is this problem universal with moto g?
Sorry i have failed to mention this
but my phone is still under its warranty, i bought it this april,2014.
so any idea what budget will i be looking at if its a hardware failure and my screen gets replaced?
My friend also have same problem so you think its is a universal issue with moto g display?

Then use your warranty, it's free to get your phone repaired under warranty.
Otherwise the screen with the digitizer costs about 30-35 usd from China and it's needs glue to be assembled back tougher ( and some knowledge ofc ).

my screen is the same. i was a bit more lucky and the line is 0.3cm away from the edge and not in the middle of the screen like yours.
i have 2 problems:
- i am from slovenia and i bought moto g from tesco through a company that gave me fake british id.
- i am rooted so i dont know if i still am under warranty.
can i take my moto g to nearest motorola repair shop and use my warranty?
Rooting voids warranty
the warranty is void as soon as you root your phone
and i have called up motorola customer services and they said that display and other hardwares are not included in warranty but still they might be able to help if they can have a look at the set

I tried re-flashing but still i have same issue. I cannot buy a new one as i am a uni student. I need help. it has almost been more than a week and i am without any smartphone lol. Kindly help me. Probably because the replacement screen wasn't the exact same model as your original screen, meaning that the repair shop probably had to flash a different kernel or a modified kernel to make the different screen work with your stock software and when you updated to Marshmallow it probably flashed your stock kernel(the kernel that would have worked with the original screen but not exactly right for the new screen). If that is what they did, you might need to flash a different or modified kernel to fix this.
