i have updated my moto g to 4.4.4 few days ago but yesterday night while traveling i was low on power so i swiched off my cell when next day i switched it back on there is a fine line running vertically on my screen, it is barely visible but on white screen u can see it.
i tried steps sugested by customer care for wiping cache partition but nothing works.

Seems to be a screen failure... send it to warranty if you still can.

Not much can be done, you could try to get a new screen and substitute it. Hardware failure is impossible to fix...
Is this problem universal with moto g?
Sorry i have failed to mention this
but my phone is still under its warranty, i bought it this april,2014.
so any idea what budget will i be looking at if its a hardware failure and my screen gets replaced?
My friend also have same problem so you think its is a universal issue with moto g display?

Then use your warranty, it's free to get your phone repaired under warranty.
Otherwise the screen with the digitizer costs about 30-35 usd from China and it's needs glue to be assembled back tougher ( and some knowledge ofc ).

my screen is the same. i was a bit more lucky and the line is 0.3cm away from the edge and not in the middle of the screen like yours.
i have 2 problems:
- i am from slovenia and i bought moto g from tesco through a company that gave me fake british id.
- i am rooted so i dont know if i still am under warranty.
can i take my moto g to nearest motorola repair shop and use my warranty?
Rooting voids warranty
the warranty is void as soon as you root your phone
and i have called up motorola customer services and they said that display and other hardwares are not included in warranty but still they might be able to help if they can have a look at the set

I have a nexus 5 rooted with stock rom and kernel and stock recovery+ xposed+GravityBox and some other xposed modules.
this happened sunday and again today.
I unlocked the screen and then the screen looked like that:
even on reboot the screen still was with the pixel snow
and after a few minutes of locking and unlocking repeatedly the screen turned OK again.
couldn't find a lot of information online.
does anyone knows why has this happened?
has someone experienced this kind of failure?
any advice?
thanks.
It's a hardware failure. Most probably the screen or the Flex cable went bad. It can only be solved by replacing it.
Definitely a hardware fault.... Had exactly the same screen on my n86 when the repair guyz told me that flex cable was damaged...
thanks..
the problem is I bought the phone on ebay and had it sent to my uncle who was in the states for a business trip and then he brought it to me when he finished his trip.
I'm not from the US so I don't know who should I complain to :\
sending it back to the US and **** will take a lot of time and probably money

Totally depends on the device's IMEI. If the IMEI if not of the country you're residing in, warranty goes out of the window. In any case, you need to send it in to get it fixed whether it's under warranty or not.
Good Luck :good:

Hey, I have owned my nexus 5 for over 9 months now and i have never had any problems except yesterday i noticed my screen got really blurry and bad so i restarted it and the problem stayed. So the problem is that there are white vertical lines wherever there is supposed to be any white shown on the screen. i have attached a few pics for it to be more clear. is this a defect or could it be cuz i might have dropped the phone. If i send it back to google and it isn't a defect they are going to charge me for the new phone which i cant really afford atm. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks
RMA it, if factory reset doesnt work you will have to get it replaced.

Good evening lads, I'm facing some problems with my display, the LCD presented some dots, more like small sqares(with sharp corners), they are not busted pixels (they're to big to be busted pixels), in different areas of the screen.. More on the bottom, and a few on the middle of the screen..
I should mention that i have not dropped the phone so that the dots would have an explication.
I made this thread in order to see if there are any other users who experienced this problem, and if they did.. What it could be done
Ive got a few on mine. I counted 6 or 7 just on the top half of the screen. A few on the bottom half. I only see them when phone is booting up on the black bootloader screen. They show up green.
Mine are visible all the time, Would vodafone warranty cover them ? Because, tehnically..it's not an software problem(That I could cause)

It has to. If you haven't dropped your phone, then those spots are hardware issue.
They gave you a faulty device, and you have the right to get it fixed/replaced for free.

You will have to return the phone fully to stock properties.
There is a thread which shows you how to fully restore stock rom, relock bootloader, etc.
Even rooting violates your warranty.
Bootloader unlock is even worse.

I did, I flashed an stock recovery, locked the bootloader, deleted the whole system/boot/cache,etc..basically wiped everything, and on my warranty chart, I noted that my phone isn't turning on after an update trought official app, and that I have white spots on the display[this was the one that interested me], so..They took it, and gave me a new one after an review in service[I forgot to make the partitions back as they were, but..they didn't looked there]
Thank you, T.C
I dropped my phone in a swimming pool of 130 cm. My screen went black. I tried to connect it to cable and it shows motorola logo, but after few seconds the screen return black. I put my phone in rice for few day. It was the same situation. But I can go to fastboot (always only when my phone was connect to cable) by pressing power button+volume down. Any option in fastboot gives me motorola logo and black screen. While the motorola logo i could see water under the screen. I put it in rice for one day and now it always shows only a black screen, connect to cable too. I think water in it it-s moving. What can I do? Even if I can go to fastboot, if I flash something, will something change?
Thanks, I-m in panic.
PS/ if i-d have to take it to assistance..... how much i will have to pay? Only for an idea.
Thanks everyone will answer and sorry for bad english.
75% of total worth of you device.

Could go worse
I took my phone in a 5ft swimming pool sometime ago, I could take the pictures using the volume key and by pinning the camera screen, however the pictures turned out to be pretty bad. And when I got out of the pool, I noticed that there were some white 2mm dots inside the display (they were unnoticeable though, and vanished after somedays) and later I found out that they were caused due to water pressure of the pool which made the water gush in through the headphone jack or not fixedly fixed back panel.
And about your problem, its the same water pressure that made the screen turn black. You could have used a hot air blower instead or should have kept the phone under direct sunlight. If you can still see the Motorola logo, that means your display is fine, and if not then I think its gone. There would be a point of flashing the stock rom but this may cause the condition to get more worse, so I suggest you to take the device to Motorola Service, as you said that there is a visible quantity of water under the screen. Motorola said that this device is water resistant, not water proof. So don't say them that you took it into the pool:silly:
Even if the device is still under warranty then there is very less possibility of getting the device repaired for free. They may charge you about 50% of the device price.
Hope your device gets well soon.:good:
Thanks for the replies
So there's no possibility without assistance? Or very very very low and Dangerous?
And if I take my phone to them... What Can I Say?
Because if I Say something like wc, it doesn't explain the damage caused by pression
I think you should get the phone back. I also broke my phone. I put a bad Sim and i broke Sim Reader so i call them and told them my phone dont recognize Sim card( i didnt tell them it was my fault ) so i get the phone back and they fix it for free.
Sorry for bad english.

Won't that damage the phone further? Taking the phone to the pool I mean.

Try putting it inside a pack of rice. Leave it there for 8 hours. It always works. Don't ever use hairdryers or similar. Good luck.

I left it in rice for 5 days.

Try what I just said dude, before it's too late. If it still doesn't work, then take to the maintenance service, see how much it will cost, tell us and we can tell you what we think you should do.

by unblocked you mean that you unlock the bootloader and if yes then your warranty is void so you have to pay to fix your phone. I think you should take it to assistance and if it cost a lof of money then you better get new phone.

Hi, i once had a non water resistant phone..
it some how got wet.. my phone was just vibrating when i am turning On it..
i thought, the battery was dead.. so i kept the phone connected to charger.. even that thing didnt make the LCD on ..
i took it to service, they said your BOARD HAD FRIED, so we must replace Board..
i sold that phone in OLX as its battery and charger were working ..
---------
verdict : according to my experience, your phone is having water inside.. its spreading slowly, initially your LCD was effected, but later it went to BOARD
.. the thing is .. if water goes into board ( it attracts dust and forms moulds) and finally wrecks it
thanks for your post, i will never take it pool
Ehi. Assistance doesn't exist near me. So I'm going to buy a new phone. I have a budget of 250 euro. I was thinking to buy a g4 plus or a zenfone 2 (asus). What can you say to me? I accept other devices too

Honor 5x over the ZF2 anyday, the G4 is a solid handset, or look at the Zenfone 3 but I hate the ZenUI... Could look for a Moto X Style, they are going on sale around $250 USD (€220) in the US, perhaps in Europe it is similar? That is what I did, picked up a Moto X Pure (the US version of the Style), very nice handset.
I think I've found a good phone
I think I'll buy a moto g4 plus with 64 GB and so 4 GB RAM. I'll wait till it will cost 250 or less more. Thanks to everyone, I'm still here to suggestions

There are places that can Jtag unbrick your phone like I'm in Western Australia and thankfully there is a place in QLD that will unbrick my Moto G3 Osprey https://www.facebook.com/MobileFixSimple/. Only problem is I need to wait till I get either money or a Job to unbrick my phone. However I think they do international orders aswell. A bit late if you already bought a new phone I would recommend a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 5Pro 4 4x or Moto G5s+
Hi guys, I purchased S21+ around 2 weeks ago and today I noticed a tiny small dot in the center of my phone's screen. My phone didn't fell down, or anything that could damage the screen.
Anyone else facing this issue?

Your confusing your terminology .... Look warranty definition
Use this app to test:
Screen Test - Apps on Google Play
Screen test under full screen mode. Dead Pixel, Burn-In, Backlight Bleeding.
play.google.com
If it fails it's hardware; defective display.
Go for a new replacement. ASAP!!!
You shouldn't have waited this long.
