I am on global rom and got an ota update.
Can I update without issues? Or will magisk or twrp cause problems?
Do I have to remove twrp and root before I update or is there any other way?

I have a rooted (SuperSU, xposed) MotoG3 with custom recovery (TWRP) running 6.0.
I just got the notification that an update is ready for my phone, which I assume is 6.0.1.
Now, I know that that OTA update is going to fail because of root & modified recovery.
What is the easiest way to update to 6.0.1, while keeping or reinstalling root, xposed and TWRP.
Can I just unroot, reflash stock recovery and update?

It's just a simple security patch, not an version upgrade, it can be safely ignored. That said, if you really want it you need to be pure, unmodified stock... Restore your pre-root Nandroid or flash the current factory image with fastboot.
Hi everyone,
I got about halfway through the rooting process with my unlocked Mate 9 (unlocked boot loader, installed TWRP) but didn't end up rooting or installing any roms because for some reason backup is not working with TWRP.
I have received the Oreo OTA update but cannot install it OTA because of TWRP; is there any way to either 1. return to the stock boot loader and install OTA update or 2. install Oreo with TWRP? Thanks!
Hi, I'm very very new about Huawei devices, and I have a question..
I'm on build 8.0.0.120 (C432), and I can update my device to 8.0.0.130 (C432)..
I've rooted my Honor V10 with Magisk and I've TWRP recovery...
If I install this OTA update, I will lose root, or because the system partition on this device is read-only, I can update without lose anythings????
Thanks at all

Magisk has an add-on to survive OTAs, but I really don't know

I would be surprised if you can install an OTA with TWRP recovery.
To successfully apply the OTA you probably have to do something like this
Deinstall Magisk
Flash stock recovery
Apply OTA
Flash TWRP
Install Magisk

Hi everyone, I currently have a mate 9 with Oreo 8.0.0 installed with an unlocked bootloader, TWRP and rooted with SuperSU..
I just got a notification that there is an update pending. My current build number is mha-l29 8.0.0.360(c567). The update in question is mha-l29 8.0.0.367(c567). Should I accept the install? What will happen to my root and TWRP? Thanks
it won't install on TWRP. you can revert to stock recovery or install through HWOTA8 where you will also loose root and TWRP but not data...
Hello Guys, i have a qq.
My X3 NFC is rooted with magisk, and have TWRP recovery, the thing is I am not sure if I should run or not the stock ROM updates, I am currently 12.0.4, and there is an update to 12.0.8, will updating to this version mess my root or TWRP, should I go for it or refrain from running the update?
I actually tried running it few days back, and the update reboots the phone to TWRP, so it doesnt really updates anything, if I were to upgrade it what should the right process be?
