Has anyone else noticed, or had anyone tell them, that the background noise is extremely loud and distracting, when you are talking to them on your Raph?
Apparently my microphone/receiver is picking up everything and people are hearing even the slightest sounds.
I called my wife from the car with the music very low, and she said it sounded like I was at a concert. A buddy called me and with no music on in the car, he kept asking if I was driving with the window down, or standing in the middle of traffic... And then when I went into a Panera Bread, with only a few people talking around me, he had to let me go because he couldn't hear me over all the extra noise.
I was not on speaker phone.
Is there anyway to dial down the microphone/receiver, like you can on a computer?
I did search through the forums, but was unable to find anything.
Thanks for the help.
There is in the settings area a item for hearing aid and non hearing aid mode. Try to set it either way and see if it helps?
I'm having the same problem too - is there a registry setting for this? HKLM\Software\HTC\Audiogain is no longer there...
Chiming in with this...have had several people tell me it sounds like I'm on speaker or like someone else said above, driving with the windows down.
I've had this issue as well. I can't remember if I had this issue before I started using cooked ROMs.
What ROM is everyone using?
I'm on PROven 1.08, but I've noticed this with earlier versions of PROven as well.
J.
Yep - just wanted to add that I'm having this problem too.
Almost every call I've made without a headset- someone has asked what was going on in the background.
Currently running Elite ROM
I mean, I know the mic is on the very bottom of the phone, but what's the deal?
Hello, guys.
i had this problem twice: just after i buy my Raphael and afer i take it to my service-center. There serious men just make hard reset and that's all!
the issue hide as i take my pda in hands.
but in several days it started again... i didn't know what to thing - cause i was very sad about this ****en problem.
nevertheless also after few days this problem hide away and never goe to my pda again.
I did'n do anything with my ROM (RUS 1.90.411.3, Radio:1.02.25.19)
...and it's very interesting.
if anybody has the answer to the question: "Why does it happen?" i'd be very glad to hear about this one.
sorry for my english)
hear myself
I have a simmilar backround noise problem, but for what ever reason the speaker kicks out what the mic picks up, so I end up hearing my self more than any one that calls unless it is dead silent in the room, then I can hear the caller as long as I am not talking.
any tips on how to stop hearing myself?
same here im using ROMeOS conFUZEd edition...
Just to add that the problem happens for me with the PROven 1.08 and LantisOS RC 1 ROMs.
I've modified AudioPara3.csv and turned the gain and tx volume way down. It seems to be ok for me, but I haven't done extensive testing yet. Please backup your copy before overwriting it. Copy to your \Windows directory using Total Commander. Let me know what you guys think.
Yeah a lot of people said they can hear everything when I talk to them. Both on my Raphael and my old Hermes. Its just the mics that HTC uses are really good. Maybe not good for phone usage but really good quality and can pick up all sounds.
I ended up getting a Bluetooth with Noise Reduction, everyone is much happier now.
Same here
I've been going crazy looking for a solution for this problem, I was in a restaurant the other day with very soft music and I got a call and the person on the other end said that it was SO loud she thought I was in a night club (I wish I was but I wasn't).
I'm gonna try the AudioPara3 and see what happens.
If anyone has found the perfect solution to this, please post it. Thanks.
Backgrounds too loud
Just installed and the problem seems to be corrected, will try a couple more days.....
I have this problem and have tried a couple of the posted audiopara files - no such luck with this issue?
Any progress on dialing in this microphone setting?
thanks!

Silly question, but did you reboot your phone after you copied the file?
Yup. I occasionally get people telling me I sound like I'm in the middle of the sea with waves and stuff. When I end the call then redial, the problem is usually gone. Happens maybe once a week. I'm a fairly heavy user - the phone that is. Well not just the phone. Erm, can we not go there thank you?
Raph Elite Project RC3. When I've tried audiopara, I lose almost all volume from the speaker so I uninstalled and hard resetted.
Hi, everyone.
I searched for this and didn't find anything, but it's a little hard to know what to search for.
I use WunderRadio to listen to Internet radio. A few weeks ago, the Video Out (TV Out) screen started popping up at random times, usually when I was tapping something on the menu or on the screen. When it did, it was almost impossible to close and it really messed up my listening.
Some days it wasn't too bad. Sometimes, when it got really frustrating, a soft reset would stop it temporarily (or at least slow it down). When it was at its worst, though, nothing helped, and it was impossible to listen to WunderRadio.
It wasn't only in WunderRadio that this would happen--it would pop up occasionally in other applications, as well. But it was the most frustrating by far in WunderRadio.
I recently did a hard reset, so I only had a few applications installed. I first assumed that this was being caused by WunderRadio, so I uninstalled it. I still kept seeing that Video Out screen.
I selectively uninstalled applications and thought a couple of times that I had identified a program that was causing the problem. However, it kept coming back, seemingly regardless of what was installed or uninstalled.
A few days ago, this stopped happening. I haven't seen the Video Out screen a single time. I don't know if it has fixed itself (I doubt it) or whether it will suddenly reappear.
At this point, it seems like this could be due to faulty software, firmware, or hardware.
In July, I had a similar thing going on. I don't know if it was related to this or if this is just a coincidence. The phone all of sudden decided that it wanted to redial the last number called--over and over again! I would think I had it stopped, put the phone in my pocket, and get a call from a contact asking if I had called them. No, I hadn't, but my phone had!
As with the Video Out problem, sometimes a soft reset would help. Often, however, I ended up just having to turn the phone off for a few hours, then cross my fingers and try again.
With both of these problem, I was hesitant to send the phone in for warranty repair, because they were both so unpredictable that the repair shop would probably be unable to make either of these symptoms appear. My fears have since been borne out by the fact that both problems seem to have been solved--at least semi-permanently.
On the other hand, either or both of these problems could come back at any time!
Can anyone tell me what's going on here and what I can do about it?
Thanks in advance!
Are you using a wired headset? Maybe the pins are a little off and acting like the tvout cable USB pins and that's triggering it.
You should try to think if there is any correlation between a wire headset and this activity.
Also, do you actually use TV-out? You can just disable it entirely by a registry tweak so it won't be able to popup if that helps.
If you need anything further feel free to PM me since it's unlikely I'll find this post again
Good point! Yes, I am using a wired headset--most often when I'm listening to WunderRadio--which would explain why it happens most often when I'm listening.
I switched from headphones to earphones the other day, and that could very well be the reason it's no longer happening.
It's either the headphones or your USB port that's bad. But since you've said the problem has went away with new headphones, I'd say it's those. But it's a guaranteed hardware issue, although not necessarily the phone.
I had the same problem - TP would switch to TV Out mode randomly when mini usb was used (either charge or headphones). Mine needed a new usb socket, although I think theyyyyy jutssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssst swap the whole board. And I know it's off topic but can someone point me in the right direction to sort out my keyboard problem above?!

hehe does your keyboard repeat too quick? Settings - Personal - Buttons and reduce the repeat rates on 'up/down control'...on and stop eating so much candy while playing with your phone
So I think that my mic died and I'm looking to see if anyone else has experienced this.
1.People on the other end can't hear me, I can hear them fine.
2. When I've recorded a video, the sound playback was nothing but a static, hiss.
I've made no changes whatsoever to the device in a few weeks or so. I've gone through all the settings that I can think of, but I'm still taking suggestions. Thanks gang

I had this happen on my incredible from time to time and a restart would resolve it.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
i had this same problem. I called Verizon and they overnighted me a new one, no charge to me, I just had to get the old one back to them in 5 days. They sent a label with it as well. They said they were going to send me a like new replacement. I said I wanted a new one and they said they would send one. It came in OEM packaging, just phone and back cover. whether its new or 'like new' it was immaculate.
I've rebooted a few times thinking the same thing.
I did have my Dinc replaced when the external speaker fried, but that was kind of a progressive failure.
Any more thoughts or ideas are welcome.

So I tried using the speach to text, and there's noresponse from the mic. This is just a drag.

Well I've tried the voice search and that works. Now the speech to text works as well actually that's what I'm using to make this post. This is just weird. If it weren't so late I could call somebody to test it and see if they can hear me now.

Latest: So, this all started yesterday. I flashed an updated radio and the problem continued. This morning I was able to flash a corrected radio update and so far have been able to make two consecutive, successful and troublefree voice calls. I hope that was all there was to it (crosses fingers, knocks on wood, etc.).

I've got a friend who has this issue. What radio did you use to fix it.
It's not fixed, I'm still trying to sort it out. For a time I thought that it may have had something to do with the headphone jack, but it wasn't.
My next random thought was to try a different kernel. This one: a.zip seems to be working so far. I haven't had but maybe two or three calls since flashing it and no need to call anyone. Every once in a while I'll do a Voice Search, or a Voice to Text text message, and it's worked. I'll try a Voice Recording or Video as well.
The only other thing that I can think to do is call Verizon and say, Hey, manufacture's warranty.
Before I forget, the kernel is one of Adrynalnye's. Let me know how things go with your friend's device.
Talked with Level 2 tech support and the guy pretty much said that there's nothing that he can do and it certainly sounds like a bad mic. New device will be here tomorrow. Here's a Blinding Flash of the Obvious though, meanwhile I can just use my Bluetooth earpiece...duh. lol
First I guess it'd be important to say I'm using Ravers (awesome) Beatiful SG4G build and I love it. It's terrific. The only thing "plaguing" me is bluetooth.
I have a Motorola S9 headset, which sounds beautiful. The problem is sound randomly seems to cut in and out at times, especially when walking around the city. I tried disabling wi-fi, but to no avail. It's fine sitting in my dorm, and seems to always be ok when the screen is on. But if I walk around with it in my pocket, sound goes to crap. Is there any known fix to regain stability.

have u had that issue on all gb or is this ur first gb?
Sadly that's hard to say. I've been using your roms since Audiophile Froyo. I just got the headset today, so I haven't been able to see if it's a rom issue, phone issue, or a headset issue yet. I'm trying to figure out if anyone else has already been through the process before I flash my phone a few times troubleshooting.
Looking around, signal issues are common with my particular headset, so it may not be a phone issue. I'll try and do some flashing to further test it, and try to use it with other phones.
So I think I figured it out and sadly I don't think software can fix it. The bluetooth has a "blind spot". The headset works fine when my phone is in a bookbag or coat pocket or sitting on my desk across the room, but it fails in my pocket. I guess it'll keep me in a good habit of actually bringing my notes to class
So while I was impaired, I managed to drop my skyrocket in a toilet about a month ago. Fished it out, dried it off for a couple days, thought it was fine when the radios started working again. First time I actually used if for a call after that the speaker seemed scratchy, so I just started using my work cell for voice calls because I didn't have the time to deal with it.
I finally looked at it again today, and from what I can tell neither the speaker nor the microphone work anymore, and I can't use headphones with it either. Bluetooth does work though, so if I really need to make a call on it, I can go out to my car and call from there... /o\
Edit: I just tested with the youtube and voice recorder apps, and they work fine. So it's something wrong with the phone app? I'm now really confused, since I was leaning toward it being a hardware issue, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I called AT&T technical support and said I "dropped" it. They said that dropping voids the warranty anyway, and suggested a factory reset. Still no dice, so now I'm looking to the internet. Any suggestions?
its no doubt because you dropped it into water. If it powers on fine try taking it apart and giving it a good cleaning. Maybe corrosion somewhere. IDK, but thats what I would do
If this just happened I would have suggested using the rice trick, but seeing as how it was so long ago, im not really sure.
