I bought a Mi 10 Ultra from AliX. Of course, first thing to do after it arrived was to unlock bootloader and put a fresh install of MIUI from xiaomi.eu and get rid of the Chinese menus here and there.
Everything was great, I have been using the Ultra for already 3+ months, its a killer.
Yesterday I accidentally dropped the phone and broke the rear glass panel (I never use protective cases, but rarely drop my phones). Now the phone is still working fine, but the beautiful back panel (the transparent one) looks quite broken and ugly haha.
I have probably searched in every single website that could/may offer spare Xiaomi, but this transparent back just can't be found. Local official Xiaomi service do not repair Chinese-only phones, AliX seller does not have the back to send me a replacement. I only see rear camera or screen replacements, but no back glass panels, not to mention the transparent one.
Help me out, maybe some local Chinese users know local sites that offer those kind of things, but sites like that are not Google-friendly and I can't seem to find them.
I am prepared to do anything to make my phone look new again.
I know you really want a transparent back but to get you by and for now, try here for a black back...

Thank you, I will eventually end up buying the black one until I find the other, but the ultimate goal and quest, of course, is to get the transparent one.
Hello - did you ever find a transparent replacement?

So far not. Will order soon a black one, only one that could be found and will continue searching for the transparent one.

As the title says, my U11+ in translucent black arrived today.
Little bit of back story.. I've been using two phones before receiving this one, the Nexus 6P and the original Mi Mix. Loved the 6P for the last year but just couldn't deal with the terrible battery life, even after recently swapping the original battery out for a new one. I equally love the Mi Mix for the huge screen however the camera is shocking.
I live in China and preorders went live for the U11+ on 02nd November, the day the phone was announced. I ordered one straight away and the translucent model sold out in a matter of 30 minutes over here. Anyway, it arrived today and as you can see from the images, it's a beauty. I couldn't be happier with the phone and I've only had it for a matter of 6 or so hours.
Being the Chinese version of the phone, my only gripe is that I need to flash the Taiwanese firmware to get Google services etc functioning. Only problem is that the phone ships with S-ON (Security = ON) and, as far as I know, there is no way as yet to shift that to S-OFF so that I can change the CID number and flash Taiwanese firmware.
Any questions you have about the phone just leave them here and I'll go my best to get around to them.
Excellent! Great beauty!
Make sure you avoid using the packaged case if you want the phone live longer. On u11 it made impacts worse, tho protecting from scratches...
Two u11s here one with broken back glass... Since then fully clad in proper casing
Is there any pocket mode that disables accidental screen to wake while inside the pocket?

That's a good question to me as, although I have more than 6 cases for the u11 only one of them was a leather poach. Which since then I wouldn't use in itself because pulling from it I dropped one of the u11s we own at home..
I think a real folding case is a good solution but I don't have any, so can't give advice unfortunately. Also most folding cases somehow block the edge sense feature
@OP: can you please comment on the wifi reception on U11+? How much drain you see with wifi on and phone lying idle? I want this phone but HTC has not been best as far as wifi reception and battery drain resulting from it is concerned.
Hi Proto,
Can you try to run some Google installer package from HTC shop. Read on jd.com that you can install that for Google services. Currently I am on the fence too if I should buy u11+ in China or hk.

Hi Hemant,
Today I got Gapps working on the Chinese version. All Google apps are working flawlessly and this now feels like an international ROM. I have to thank Perfectionalism (a user on this forum) for making me aware of the gapps installer. I'll send the download link over to you in a PM.
The Translucent Black versions are awesome. I have heard from a Taiwanese blogger that, despite the U11+ has 30% more battery capacity (3930 vs 3000 mAh) than the U11 , but the U11+ only lasts longer than U11 by 10% in time by using PCMark program.
I am wondering if Prot02018 could please post some battery statistics to us? (particularly, Screen on Time), thank you.
Recd My Amazing Silver U11+. Don't want to hijack the thread but incase OP can't answer something i too will be glad to help
Is the fingerprint sensor covered by glass?
Also how is the vibration motor? Can you compare it with other device? Is it anything like the iphone/pixel 2?

Now my Samsung S6 suddenly died and my wife is hell bent against me buying an HTC phone which is sort of a dying brand. She insists its better to buy an iphone 8 for that price rather than HTC phone or maybe even Huawei phone. Damn . Woman
Currently i am phoneless and using my wife's iphone 5s. So still pondering which one to buy hoping she would see send that HTC is not bad.
Also to those bought the phone is there any LCD bleeding issue like Pixel 2 devices. Lot of users of U11+ commented the same on jd.com / tmall. Would love to hear on this and battery.
Does the fingerprint sensor support gestures on it? For example, if you swipe down on it does it trigger the notification shade?

okay this might be differ from region to region, but can you please tell me all uninstallable apps ?
i really like HTC approach to use google apps instead of their own (almost no duplicate apps) but i need to know by how much you can remove that thin layer of bloat. want to make my u11+ as cloce to stock as possible
Also, can you please comment on the screen quality (how visible things are under sunlight, max brightness) and battery performance? The verdict from GSM Arena's review are rather disappointing in these two regards.

Yep me too want comments how device perform in both situation as first detail review from gsmarena is totally disappointing and unacceptable.
Also if can tell us and how perform compared to the previous device own like Nexus 6p and Mi Mix mention at first post.
Both battery life and outdoor visibility.
Is it better, the same or worst.
I read in gsmarena the battery life was not great. can you confirm or deny it ?
What do the Hong Kong / China / Taiwan users say about battery performance? Any complaints so far?
Hello,
I will buy the htc u11+ from hong kong. It will work on Europe networks?
Thanks

I bought a used Honor 8 that has a cracked front screen. It's tolerable but I've decided to get it fixed. The screen that is on now was a replacement screen. The lady told me that it cracked not too long after she got it replaced and that it happened without her dropping it or anything like that. She thinks that the person who replaced it, didn't know what they were doing. As of now, the phone works great but the screen isn't as bright as the original and seems to have burn in. I have thought about replacing it myself and wanted to ask, has anyone replaced their screen themselves? How'd it go? Would you recommend it? And if you got it replaced somewhere, what was the cost? How did it look like afterwards? I appreciate any and all answers!

Hello!
My screen is broken too. After a long search i've decided to order from Witrigs. There is only the custom screen available which is not as good as the oem one., but these are the best i could find from a reliable source. There is a video on the screens page which shows you how to install the new one. It will need some cheap equipment too to open the phone, like plastic-opening-card and case-opening-tool(the guitar one), yeah and don't forget the the LCD frame sticker. (and the suction cup, if you don't have any at home)
I'm still waiting for the parts to arrive, hoping that the screen's quality is acceptable compared to the original one. Also ordered a custom back panel because my got scratchy.
I'll write my experience about the screen and the repair when the parts arrive and assembled the phone.
Sry i wasn't able to post links because this is my first post here, but its easy to find them. For guide go for the video.
It's costed about 35$ with shipping and the back panel.

Hi all
I'm hoping to get a z flip 4 soon and want to make sure it's as protected as possible. I want to put a good screen protector on it for obvious reasons and was wondering if I need to remove the factory one first or just put new one on top? I believe samsung say not to remove factory one but videos on YouTube say otherwise. What would you guys do?
Cheers
If u want to put another you have to remove factory one and if u not want to remove factory one then use it only
The factory one is pretty good. No more coming up at the edges. Bought presale still looks new. Samsung also offers one free replacement for first year.

@mt2020 Cheers bud, that's good to hear. I'm really looking forward to getting my first decent phone in years!!
The original foil on the display cannot be removed .
Samsung - threatens to void the warranty if the original foil is torn off .
Even when installing the phone , this message appears .
What's more , if the foil becomes damaged or peels off , Samsung will replace it free of charge .
It is also not recommended to stick additional foil .
Cordial greetings .
The internal one is good. I can see no point in trying to change it.
However, the real danger area is the one on the outside and I cannot work out whether it has a factory fitted protector or not. Any info?
Hello !
The external / cover display is not secured .
Personally , I had a foil stuck on - in one of the well-known chains with electronic equipment and RTV / household appliances .
The cost of such a service is less than 10 Euro ... and it lasted 5 minutes .
Due to the fact that I do not use any case , I also covered the entire phone from the outside .
I took my Flip4 to UBreakIfix to have the original factory screen protector replaced under warranty due to delamination. The Samsung website referred me to them. Unfortunately there are few shops in my area that have the machine to install them and they were out of stock. I didn't realize that they even had a machine to install screen protectors. The tech said that the protector delamination issue has been around since the first Flip. I hope the redesigned hinge on the Flip5 won't have this issue.
Dear @Matterhorn ,
tell - please - after what time the protective foil on your Flip 4 delaminates .
It just happened. I pre-ordered my Flip4 so it must be about 6 months old. I'm hoping that the replacement lasts until the Flip5 is released. I also hope they give a big trade in like last time. Otherwise I might have to go back to Pixel and get the 8.

Mine same age as yours, so far zero issues. Came from Pixel, bugs galore and slow to fix. Great camera though. Samsung really got their act together compared to 5 or more years ago. Watch 5 also isn't fully supported with pixel, so hoping camera gets big boost on flip 5.
Sorry for this boring question but I still can't decide between vs 7 and 7pro.
I use OnePlus 7Pro and for now I hate curved display because it is very problematic to get good screen protector.
I know the difference between phones.
But please tell me your opinion about curved screen. About problem with screen protect etc.
If you have to make a new decision, will you choose 7 or 7pro?
I would choose the 7 Pro with a Spigen Tough Armor case.
I originally got the Pixel 6 because I was concerned about the curved screen on the Pro. I took a chance when I upgraded to the Pixel 7 and went with the Pro.
I honestly have forgotten that the 7 Pro has a curved screen. I have a Spigen case on it and NO screen protector and have it in a leather holster when I'm out and about.
It's all a good combination for me.
I hate curved screens as well and came from a Samsung Galaxy s22 plus with a flat screen.
I have the Pixel 7 Pro now and traded in another device for it.
I am not going to lie, I tried a few TPU screen protectors and they were not good. I ended buying a Whitestone dome and although it is a hassle installing and the first attempt I got bubbles the second worked and it has so far been excellent.
I use a Spigen hybrid clear case or a Zagg gear 4 Denali that I got on sale. I would highly suggest getting a good case for the phone because it is super slippery if you don't use one. The Spigen was $13 and Zagg has sales or discounts and I got mine for $10.
I had the OnePlus you have and the curve is much more prominent on the OnePlus than the Pixel. It is a very subtle curve and if it were not for the screen protector bring a pain I almost like it. Almost.
The thing is I believe both the 7 and 7 Pro are on sale right now and the 7 at $499 is a hard value to beat. That being said I like the Pro better because of the slimmer bezels, the 1440p resolution, the extra ram at 12gb, and the zoom lense. I also like the larger screen. I have heard the Pro uses a better quality screen as well. However I like the brushed metal on the 7 better. The screen on the Pro scored 3rd on DXO mark and I can honestly say the color accuracy, color temperature and image quality of the display is really impressive.
https://www.dxomark.com/smartphones/#sort-display/device-
I don't think you can go wrong with either to be honest. It is more do the things I mentioned mean anything to you? Is $250 worth it? For me they were and I have zero regrets. If I got the 7 I would probably be bothered by the compromises. Having the larger battery on the Pro is also nice.
I traded in one of my all time favorite phones the iPhone 13 Pro Max and I thought I would regret it. It was locked to a carrier who would not unlock it so it was either keep it and not use until or if I ever switched back to that carrier, get another iPhone or get the Pixel 7 Pro. Google was offering a crazy trade in value plus the sale which meant the phone didn't cost me anything. So despite being somewhat locked in the Apple ecosystem I decided to take a chance on the Pixel. I would have had to pay a minimum of $400 to get a regular iPhone 14 Pro.
Having used it for a couple weeks I am really happy I got the Pixel 7 Pro. It feels just as fast and fluid as my old iPhone. I like Pixel software and Android 13 better than iOS 16, the device is lighter yet the screen seems bigger to me with smaller bezels. Battery life is not as good as the iPhone but it is not bad at all. I am a really heavy user and I usually have around %45 at the end of the day. Charging seems fast enough as it takes about an hour and a half but I use adaptive charging at night.
The call reception and wifi reception are good. Call quality is excellent. I have used it on a road trip and could always get a signal.
It has been really solid software experience with no bugs I have experienced and super fast updates.
The cameras are excellent. I had to use macro lense for a warranty claim and on a translucent surface I was able to show what I needed to get a replacement. Zoom shots and regular shots all turn out great.
This is by far the best phone Google has ever made and for me I appreciate all the extras in the Pro and am so glad I got it over the 7.
Hated the curved screen but i soon got used to it on the P6P and clearly that followed though on to the P7P. Film screen protectors seem to work really well, they are bubble free and the self repairing aspect of them is brilliant, they tend to last around 6 months in my experience.
Personally i think the macro is a waste of time but it is there if you want it, i'd rather have a fix focus lens on the ultra wide given its main job is landscapes etc and you can get the same macro result using one of the zoom ranges without macro turned on so it feels like a gimmick (to me). The 5x zoom doesn't seem as good as the 4x was on the P6P for some reason, not range but image quality, they always seem very soft and lacking in detail to me, everyone else's seem fine though so it may just be my phone in particular.
Battery life is great and i often don't need to charge it on a night.
I did have it in a Spigen Tough Armor case but recently changed to a Caseology Athlex, i do like the Tough Armor but they always end up feeling manky.
The curved screen is barely even noticeable. I just struggle to believe that anybody has an issue because of an eighth of an inch around the edge of a phone. I mean the damn thing is as big as the phone gets as it is. And, like was posted above, barely even noticeable. Particularly when it’s in a case.

It is the fragility of it and the lack of regular screen protectors that are the issue, not the curve.
I am using the P7P with the Whitestone with no problems or concerns. If you are looking for a TPU the Superschieldz worked well while I was waiting for the Whitestone.

I switched to the Pixel 7 Pro from a OnePlus 7T. Keep in mind if you use a Dual SIMs in you OP7Pro it's a little tricky and you have to install Automate to utilize dual ringtones on the Pixel 7 Pro. The screen protector I'm using is the Zagg Shield - works fine for a non-glass screen protector and others should do the same. The Pixel 7 Pro Cameras are what got me to switch from the OnePlus 7T - I almost went with the OnePlus 10Pro - already knew this was close 1yr old and AT&T Allowed the devices 5G on the network .. so I went with the P7Pro.
Bought Pixel 7 Pro! Thanks for help. Now I am looking for good clear case which is compatible with whitestone dome glass.

Ringke Fusion is my favorite clear case so far. It even provides some camera bump protection on the back rather than the entire bump being exposed.

No need to factory reset a new device, but if it's me, do the minimal setup at first boot, flash January Firmware after unlocking the bootloader, making sure you disable verity and verification so you can flash custom Kernels, since that will wipe the device anyway.
I recommend Pixflasher if you're unsure of or want to avoid using ADB commands

So if I decided not to root device. Should I update only from phon (ota) or the first time do it from computer?

By the computer is much faster. You can still use Pixelflasher, just don't install Magisk. Just flash the newest firmware and since you're not unlocking your bootloader or going to use a kernel, you can save data and not check verity and verification
