Do we really need to wait the exact 7 days before we can unlock bootloader? Or it can be done on or before 7 days?
1. Yep
2. Nope
i had to wait that long as well, i actually forgot i had to wait 7 days cause of distractions filling up the time

I bought my Nexus 5 a month ago, I got an update from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 right away, but since then.. No Lollipop. Doesn't matter what I try.
It's stock, brand new. I sold it to my dad because I'm an HTC guy and I got cold feet, and now he's all like "You sold me a ****ed up device, I don't think I'd get updates anymore".
I don't want to manually flash it, I just want to get the OTA like I'm supposed to. Why the hell don't I get the OTA after a month?! My friend bought it 2 days before me and got the OTA right away.
Please help guys.
Don't worry. Lollipop is a bugged mess

Its a rollout. It could come today, or it could come in a month. Flash/sideload it or stop complaining and wait.

So, I requested to unlock bootloader and the waiting time is 711 (?!?!) hours which is literally 1 month of waiting time. This time starts counting since I first attempted to unlock the bootloader or when I first created my MI account or something. Thanks in advance.
Yesterday I unlocked mine.
It did it straight away. No wait time.
I have had many Xiaomi phones in the past and my account has unlock approval from before, not sure if that makes a difference.
When you received SMS message from Xiaomi: 'You've been granted the permission to unlock your device...'
mine was 720 hours... i already had an unlock approval from my mi mix original.. i can't do mine until october.

I bought my phone is May, and i had to wait 360 hr,2 weeks.
It seems Xiaomi is extending the unlock time...maybe due to bloatware from resellers...
I had 360hrs waiting time on my first MiMix2S.
I also had it on the second one with the same account and even had to use another PC to unlock it. Really not very user friendly behaviour of Xiaomi.
They also extended the waiting time from 360 to 720hrs. Ridiculous, but still better than Huawei. They won't ever let you unlock your bootloader on their new devices which I think is crazy and completely against the open source idea.
If you can`t wait, you can borrow someone`s account that donot need to wait hours and hours.
Only if someone is that kind.
remember donot sync others account
So I've been trying to unlock the bootloader on my phone because I can't stand MIUI. The first time I tried it it told me to wait 7 days, which I did. When I tried again it said "Couldn't Unlock You need to use your device a bit longer try again in 3 days". Well I waited 3 days, and then it told me the same message. I found a thread saying to try a different version of the unlock tool, so I just downloaded that, version 2.3.803.10. But does anyone know if this will actually work? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I've registered it with my account, and I haven't messed with any of those settings, but it keeps giving me time. How the heck can I finally unlock this dang bootloader?
Well, I tried the older version, without even waiting the extra 3 days, and it immediately unlocked it. So I would definitely recommend this to people MI Unlock is giving them grief. at least give it a shot in my opinion. I can finally get rid of MIUI, thank the lord.
Hello,
Is unlocking bootloader is essential for
1) custom kernel
2) custom recovery
3) custom ROMs ?
The reason I am asking is the ultimately stupid waiting period of 7 days to unlock a bootloader, while my device is plagued with a thoroughly random touch freeze problem that makes using it practically useless. I would like to know if I have to swap this device for another out of the blue or an optimized kernel/ROM will solve my problems however Xiaomi decided that waiting for a week first is a requirement above all.
Thanks in advance.
Yes

If you have problems with stock device, I would recommend RMA instead of installing custom software. Chances are it won't improve anything.
"The reason I am asking is the ultimately stupid waiting period of 7 days to unlock a bootloader" ... Stupid period of 7 days? 7 days of waiting are great and senseful solution, have a look @huawei, they wont let you unlock bl even after 10 years ..... Well, having used Samsung devices only prior to this, 7 days of waiting time is utterly frustrating. Didn't know about Huawei - makes me darn sure about not purchasing a Chinese brand again.
The platform I had bought my phone went out of business and apparently I got no electronic invoice to work with. So RMA'ing is effectively out of options. Thank you tho.

Not just the waiting period, the whole process is frustrating. This short thread helped me with the issues I was having with their unlock tool.
Thank you too for the reply and the link but apparently 7 days of waiting time is a must. I am at that stage already and was looking for ways to circumvent it, if any.
Getting rid of this garbage called Poco and splashing my hard earned cash on Samsung - at least there is some hope at various ends.

No way to circumvent it, boot is encrypted and can only be unlocked via the official tool. Just wait...
