I bought my Nexus 5 a month ago, I got an update from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 right away, but since then.. No Lollipop. Doesn't matter what I try.
It's stock, brand new. I sold it to my dad because I'm an HTC guy and I got cold feet, and now he's all like "You sold me a ****ed up device, I don't think I'd get updates anymore".
I don't want to manually flash it, I just want to get the OTA like I'm supposed to. Why the hell don't I get the OTA after a month?! My friend bought it 2 days before me and got the OTA right away.
Please help guys.
Don't worry. Lollipop is a bugged mess

The very same thread pops up multiple times a day.
Its a rollout. It could come today, or it could come in a month. Flash/sideload it or stop complaining and wait.

Well I ordered the Nexus and the original one had issuses with the screen so I returned it for a replacement. The second one had the same issue and when I tried to get it replaced (within 14 days of receiving the new phone) I was told that Samsung will only let me send it in for warranty work. Google said that wasn't acceptable since I hadn't gotten a working phone so it should be replaced. Then Google said that I can return it for a full refund and order a new one if I wanted to stay with the Nexus. But since I still had the G2X hanging out I decided to return the Nexus totally and and just stick with the G2x. Sad coming from a fully functioning ICS to this phone, but hey, I'll save $435.
Welcome back!
Not to rub it in, but my Nexus luckily was a good one from the beginning... I think.
However, I think you could do a lot more with a G2x and $435.
Yeah my second one wasn't really that bad, but for $435 I shouldn't have to deal with the screen being messed up. It also sucks that they aren't standing behind hte product. I definitely agree with doing more with the $435 though lol. All I really want is a phone that doesn't freeze so I can use the alarm.
You tried the new baseband and 2.3.4 update?
And sort of related: What were your Nexus screen issues?
Yeah i had to do the manual update since the ota didn't work (not sure if my root had anything to do with it) and so far so good. The screen was faded badly from right to left on the first phone and top to bottom on the second.
i was looking at buying either the gnex or the s3, but North America is only getting the dual core model, as i thought wind and TMobile were getting the quad core.
nfc was the main reason i wanted to switch. But I'm gonna wait till August to see lg roll out ics so cm9 can get tegra sources.
Btw, i love my phone. Don't know if im alone on this.

So I'm asking for opinions here.
I just bought moved from sprint to ATT, and since I loved my evo LTE on sprint, I picked up the HOX on ATT. Literally bought the phone, came home, and immediately pulled up XDA to see how to root it, only to be severely disappointed after reading about the 2.20 news.
So I have 14 days to take it back and exchange it for another one. I don't mind waiting a few months for root if that's what it'll be, but if it'll never be rooted, I don't want to be stuck with it.
So what are your opinions? Should I return it for something else? or wait it out?
Nobody knows. Opinions are opinions. I'd return it and try to get an older one somewhere else.

at this point. i would return it. until after the jb release on hox or until the hox+ comes out.
if you could get one with 1.85 on it i would take it though.
If you can, return it and try again. But it won't be unrootable, it will get rooted eventually.
Two years ago I purchased the Motorola Atrix 4G the first day it came out. A month later the phone died and since then, I have been through 3 more of them, they refused to give me a new Atrix and instead gave me a bunch of half working refurbs. (No rooting, dropping, misuse, etc, was involved).
Because of my bad experience, I am waiting to purchase the Galaxy S4 until any serious kinks are worked out. As they say, you should never purchase the first edition of anything, be it a car, a phone, laptop, etc. So, when is the best time for me to purchase the S4? I am waiting for the 32GB version, but if it ends up not being a reality then I will settle for the 16GB version. Should I wait till the beginning of June? Does it even matter, am I just being paranoid?
I have a 16GB S4 and it works great. Laggy in the beginning but after a factory reset it is buttery smooth

I know how you feel-- I got an early Captivate with the GPS issue. They said it would be fixed in a subsequent software update, and admittedly they tried, but the update didn't fix it. I was stuck with the broken GPS for the life of the phone.
That said, my concern with the AT&T S4 is the locked bootloader. I very much want to run custom ROMs, so I'm not going to buy until the unlock is released. Don't want to get stuck with a permanently locked phone if that should somehow not come to fruition. On the other hand though, I would also worry about waiting too long. Once the unlock is released, it seems likely that the next batch of phones will come with that flaw patched, and the bootloader locked again. Eventually they will get it right and the later phones may prove to have a bootloader that can't be unlocked. Wouldn't want to get stuck with one of those...
So I will probably wait until the day that the unlock is release and I see a bunch of confirmations here that it's working, and then get one quickly before they start shipping ones that patch that exploit.
Best time to buy the S4 would be on May 10th or after so you can get the 32GB version.
Hi, I'll be quick,
I know almost all nexus devices have now Lolipop, everyone on my friend with a nexus 5 have now Lolipop, but for some reason i don't have any update prompt. If it can help, I bought it from a carrier here in canada called Fido.

I have received the update yesterday and i'm also using fido in the montreal area. My advice: stay away from this update for the moment. Lots of bugs.... will probably flash back the 4.4 image tomorrow and will wait for 5.1 instead.
My son just got the OTA on Telus this afternoon. Be patient, you will get it.

believe me, you don't want to update.... be patient and wait for 5.1. lots of issues in 5.0. Android L is great in general, but with all those bugs, it doesn't worth it for now. Actually I can't even charge my phone unless I turn it off...
And there is nothing wrong, google said it could take many weeks before all N5 get the update.

Don't worry about the OTA, just flash a ROM and call it a day.
Hi all. I need help, or opinions, or both. I'm here because my husband used to tell me these forums were helpful. (Pleasebehelpful, pleasebehelpful)
I have an At&t Lg G4, the H810 model. It randomly shut itself down and refuses to start up again. It will load up to the LG logo, then shuts off and tries again. It's been doing that for a few days, as I keep hoping it will randomly make it all the way through and actually start up. I've read some of the many threads about the bootloop issues, but they all seem to be people who've been experimenting with mods.
I haven't rooted, or anything. It's still running on whatever it had when I walked out of the store with it. I've talked with At&T, and LG, and have the option to either fix it or get a refurb to replace it. I'm anxious about the refurb, as it seems that this is not an uncommon issue with the G4s. Is there a way to tell when the refurb was made, or what they've done to make it "like new?"
I'm feeling like it's a bit of a crapshoot. Last time I went through warranty replacement was with a Samsung Galaxy, and that was a hideous ordeal. Is LG better? Anybody have any experience, or sage wisdom to impart? Nifty tricks to get the thing to start back up?
TIA!
Google search "Lg g4 return to stock" and flash the h81010o firmware in the instructions. This provided you can enter download mode.

That's exactly what happened to mine. It randomly shut down and now it is stuck in a bootloop. Usually it won't pass the LG splash screen, but a few times I've seen the AT&T logo briefly. Twice it showed the "Configuring apps" screen as if it had been updated. I didn't allow an OTA update but that's what it looked like.
After 20 minutes on (another) phone with tech support they decided to send a warranty replacement.
I wish I knew what was wrong but it is essentially bricked. Can't hard reboot, get to download/recovery mode or even power off.
The phone is not rooted or otherwise modded.
I just wanted you to know you're not alone. All of this just happened today.

Thanks, but not dice. There's nothing there. The only thing I could get to was the *push start and volume down buttons* factory reset mode, which then didn't do anything. Boo.

ccbutterfly--how long have you had your phone? It's a frustrating thing to have it just *pfft* like that, isn't it? I bought mine the weekend they came out in June, and having read up for a while, it looks like there's a defect in some of the phones that were made before May. Just my luck. I went for the refurb. Hope it doesn't have the same problem in a few months.
circetwo - I got it in June also. I bought it for my son's birthday on 6/29. It really was a surprise and a huge disappointment as the phone is otherwise everything we hoped it would be. I wish I had ordered one for myself instead of getting the GS6. I've had to warranty replace it after only a few months also.
Best wishes for your refurb. I hope we both have better luck this time around.
You know what really gets me is AT&T's shipping policy. My oldest son upgraded to the Note 5 this week. They sent it overnight at no extra charge. He already had a working phone, but they got the new one to him the next day. My other son had the LGG4 and when it randomly decided to be stupid they offered him expedited shipping at *our* expense. We opted for standard free shipping and he's without a phone til it gets here. That seems backwards to me.
Incidentally, I slipped his SIM card into my oldest son's *old* phone so he has something to use in the meantime. But really, doesn't it seem like the warranty replacement should be the one that gets expedited?
Okay, stepping off my soapbox now.
Hey, thanks for the info that the "May" date seems to be the key. That gives me more hope for the replacement phone.
