Question about waiting time for unlocking bootloader - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

So, I requested to unlock bootloader and the waiting time is 711 (?!?!) hours which is literally 1 month of waiting time. This time starts counting since I first attempted to unlock the bootloader or when I first created my MI account or something. Thanks in advance.

Yesterday I unlocked mine.
It did it straight away. No wait time.
I have had many Xiaomi phones in the past and my account has unlock approval from before, not sure if that makes a difference.

When you received SMS message from Xiaomi: 'You've been granted the permission to unlock your device...'

mine was 720 hours... i already had an unlock approval from my mi mix original.. i can't do mine until october.

I bought my phone is May, and i had to wait 360 hr,2 weeks.
It seems Xiaomi is extending the unlock time...maybe due to bloatware from resellers...

I had 360hrs waiting time on my first MiMix2S.
I also had it on the second one with the same account and even had to use another PC to unlock it. Really not very user friendly behaviour of Xiaomi.
They also extended the waiting time from 360 to 720hrs. Ridiculous, but still better than Huawei. They won't ever let you unlock your bootloader on their new devices which I think is crazy and completely against the open source idea.

If you can`t wait, you can borrow someone`s account that donot need to wait hours and hours.
Only if someone is that kind.
remember donot sync others account

Unlock Times and help

I just got my Mi Mix 3 - China rom
I ordered it about 2 weeks ago and previously had a mi mix 2, once i ordered the mix 3 i decided to unlock my mi mix 2 to tryout some custom ROMs.
Now when i try to unlock my mi mix 3 it says i need to wait a minimum of 30 days. If i wait the 30 days will i still need to wait the 1 month wait time they seem to make mi mix 3 uses wait to unlock the BL? or will it just be 30 days.
If it is going to take 60 days is it possible to get around this somehow? my current Phone number is linked to the account but if it would be faster to remove that some how and link it to a new account to only get the 30 day wait time?
I was annoyed at the idea of waiting 30 days so 60 days is painful.
Thanks
(if this is in the wrong place please let me know)

It's only 72 hours wait time for unlock bootloader, probably 30 days cause Xiaomi will probably think you're up to something.
just set up a new account and do the process again

72 was painful for my Mix 1 and Mix 3. I'd have returned the phone if I had to stay stock for 30 days.

Managed to get it working, I make a new account, then logged into the old account and changed the linked phone number to an old phone number (You can use a family members) then you need to remove the device from that account, this is all done via the mi cloud website and is quite explanatory.
then yo need to make a new account link your device (on the device under dev options) and then add your phone number to your new account via the mi cloud website.
If the website says your number had been used to recently u can use both variants of your global number ( so in the uk +44 followed by 11 numbers and +44 followed by 10 numbers both work)
try the unlock tool and it should work
I don't know if anyone else will have this problem so feel free to remove this if its not useful

Note 6 Pro won't unlock after waiting 7 days then 3 days

So I've been trying to unlock the bootloader on my phone because I can't stand MIUI. The first time I tried it it told me to wait 7 days, which I did. When I tried again it said "Couldn't Unlock You need to use your device a bit longer try again in 3 days". Well I waited 3 days, and then it told me the same message. I found a thread saying to try a different version of the unlock tool, so I just downloaded that, version 2.3.803.10. But does anyone know if this will actually work? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I've registered it with my account, and I haven't messed with any of those settings, but it keeps giving me time. How the heck can I finally unlock this dang bootloader?
Well, I tried the older version, without even waiting the extra 3 days, and it immediately unlocked it. So I would definitely recommend this to people MI Unlock is giving them grief. at least give it a shot in my opinion. I can finally get rid of MIUI, thank the lord.

Bootloader Unlock Change

When did the unlocking of the Xiaomi's bootloader change to needing to use the Unlock Tool and wait time ? I bought an MiA1 a few years ago and unlocked it using the ADB method , instant and simple . But i just switched to the Poco X3 NFC and now find i have to wait a week using this new method . My week ends tonight so hopefully i can unlock it then , but i am just curious as to when this all changed .
I also had a Mi A1 and I confirm that.
But the key, IMHO, is the Mi A1 wasn't equiped with MIUI ROM but with a Google Android One ROM and this is a huge difference !
It's been a long time since Xiaomi added wait time to unlock (can't remember though when it first occured). The strange thing is that it varies from model to another. Poco X3 is 168 hrs, others can be 360 hrs and sometimes it decreases from 720 to 360 has time passes...
There was a way to bypass using an old Mi Unlock software or an unofficial one but now it has been patched.
Waiting eagerly for my new Poco X3 to be unlocked (6 days to go)
I miss the Android One ROM and its monthly updates

To add: can also be 0 second unlock time
You're right
i got 14days unlock time
It's been a process and a half besides waiting the 7 days ( which was no great problem ) but once unlocked and rebooted i got a message saying that i had to login to my Mi account to proceed , but my problem was that i used Facebook to login to the account that was bound to the phone and as a result i had forgotten the password and thus i couldnt change the password once i accessed my account with FB. Took me some toing and froing to change the password but eventually i got it done . Now onto rooting

Has anyone had any problems with this variant? Factory Unlocked to any carrier in the WORLD and no bootloader unlock. Motorola says it's ineligible. Any thoughts?

Use a different email address. You have unlocked too many devices in a period of time so it won't let you with that email. Try again with new or alt email.

That should only take 72 to 96 hours if you leave it on and connected to data and/or wifi the whole time.

Can you please elaborate? I have the OEM unlock option greyed out. I followed instructions on another thread and factory reset, retried with wifi, no sim, no login, no joy.
Now will this change if I wait 72 hours? I already have a code from motorola, but I'm going on call for work again shortly and I can't leave the sim out for 72 hours. Thanks.
Edit: Just bought the model today, hoping for a LineageOS phone. Third try of the "buy a new phone" strategy, but I got a different model than was advertised, XT2131-1

Yes you will need to wait a few days like he said. Just leave it alone, don't reset or anything. Leave the phone booted up and preferably on wifi. It will eventually become available.

So this is really a new thing Motorola/Lenovo is doing? My phone is factory unlocked. XT-2211-2 (I got the 2022 Stylus model factory unlocked no carrier brand). I did manage to get the unlock code from moto's site (Looks like it was just glitchy when i first tried but another poster said keep at it and i did and the 3rd time they mailed it to me) but the OEM is still greyed out. Turned on the phone Sunday. So I have to wait for it to "Trigger"?

Listen to my other post. Leave the sim card in. Leave it on. For 72+ hours. The option should then be ready after that.

And as for the xt2211 this is NOT the forum for said device. Please either request one be made or wait. I understand we all get itchy to root and make our devices custom but when the device was just released less than 6 months ago I wouldn't expect much. Sorry guys.
But to answer, yes young Padawan, patience is a must.

Swinging by to report that this was accurate for me and after the 3 days I was able to cycle developer options and unlock OEM, already got the code from Motorola during the waiting period.
Quick update:
Finally unlocked my 2nd device with this. Letting you guys know that wifi alone will not unlock it. Left it on wifi for 8 days no OEM unlock. Dropped my sim card in it and it unlocked instantly. It also won't turn "on" so to speak, just tap it when it looks like its not active and the prompt will come up like its hidden.

Question Stupid Prerequisite exclusive to Xiaomi Devices?

Hello,
Is unlocking bootloader is essential for
1) custom kernel
2) custom recovery
3) custom ROMs ?
The reason I am asking is the ultimately stupid waiting period of 7 days to unlock a bootloader, while my device is plagued with a thoroughly random touch freeze problem that makes using it practically useless. I would like to know if I have to swap this device for another out of the blue or an optimized kernel/ROM will solve my problems however Xiaomi decided that waiting for a week first is a requirement above all.
Thanks in advance.
Yes

If you have problems with stock device, I would recommend RMA instead of installing custom software. Chances are it won't improve anything.

Well, having used Samsung devices only prior to this, 7 days of waiting time is utterly frustrating. Didn't know about Huawei - makes me darn sure about not purchasing a Chinese brand again.
The platform I had bought my phone went out of business and apparently I got no electronic invoice to work with. So RMA'ing is effectively out of options. Thank you tho.

Not just the waiting period, the whole process is frustrating. This short thread helped me with the issues I was having with their unlock tool.
Thank you too for the reply and the link but apparently 7 days of waiting time is a must. I am at that stage already and was looking for ways to circumvent it, if any.
Getting rid of this garbage called Poco and splashing my hard earned cash on Samsung - at least there is some hope at various ends.

No way to circumvent it, boot is encrypted and can only be unlocked via the official tool. Just wait...
