External USB Cam for Skype on Android Smartphone (no PC !)

I need to connect an external USB Cam to a Smartphone to be used with Skype video conferencing (on the Smartphone !), with the ability to switch from internal Cam (front/rear) to external during the conference.
I would like also to have this feature, if possible, on my Galaxy S with Android 2.3.3 (without USB Host mode)
or at least on a Galaxy tablet with USB Host mode, running Android 4.xx
Any way ? Any solution ?
thanks in advance
First of all you need a kernel which supports usb hosting.
I wrote that it is also OK for Tablet with Android 4.xxx
And then ?
Interesting. My tablet got extra usb host. Hoping to know it.

[Q] [NOOB] WP7.8 Custom ROM - how to sync with W7?

Hi,
as a complete noob with smartphones in general and WP specifically. Nevertheless I somehow managed to install HSPL and then the HD2O Dynamics Custom ROM on my HTC Radar.
I configurated my device after installation and it works smoothly. However, all I did so far is connecting my Windows Live Account. It receives E-Mails when I am on the way and via Wifi connection when at home. This is great...
Now I want to do the next necessary steps in "usability". I guess that would be
connect device via USB to PC (Windows 7) and transfer files like Contacts (People), Pictures, Clips in either direction
use the device as storage (like an USB-stick)
I am not familiar with establishing connection or how "syncing" works with WP and W7. What I read is that "ZUNE" is the main syncing tool for that. The problem is, that I think in the last couple of weeks, Microsoft may have abandoned the idea of using Zune for this. Can someone confirm this? If yes, what is it now?
If I connect the Device via USB this is what Windows 7 shows me in the "Devices and Printers" Screen (see attch).
A click on the symbol just opens driver information but not a folder like a removable medium like an USB-Stick in Windows.
Also, I read since I use a Custom ROM, I shouldn't update via Zune (or its successor). Is this true? Would establishing connection with an official syncing tool "kill" my Custom ROM? (In other words: if I connect my Custom ROM device to the official sync tool, would it automatically start an update or only if I explicitly start the update process?)
I'd really appreciate any hints and tips.
Thx in advance!
Edit: after installing WMDC 6.1 and Zune, I now have a solid connection. Still, there's the question how far I can go there without automatically updating to Stock ROM (and therefor damaging my Custom ROM) via offical MS channels.

[Q] App data backup with a twist!?

Hello guys,
I'm new to the forum, but everyone recommended you as the best on the web!
I'm having some issues with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7''...
I have an hardware problem with the lower connection (for charging and connecting to PC via USB). Basically I can still charge the tablet, but in an extremely low rate, and have no usb connection...
Samsung was asking me a load of money for fixing this... So I choose to buy a brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4''!
Now! Data transfer... I managed to transfer or save some of my app data, but in a few apps I can't manage to get it...
My options:
-Root the Tab2 and use something like Titanium app... I can't connect the tablet to the PC, so not an option!
-Use an app like Helium in the unrooted Tab2... Nope! Helium requests to connect the Tablet to the PC at least once...
I'm desperate!
Is there any option that you can think of for my problem? Any wireless option or so?
Thank you for your time!
Pedro
PS- If this not the correct place for this thread, please relocate it.
Nothing?
No ideas yet?
Is there no solution for my problem?
:crying:
use titanium and then transfer the data using SambaDroid.
Or if you are not rooted use something like WiFi File Transfer to create a file server on your tablet.
Alternatively use a file manager like X-plore File Manager to copy the files to a samba share on your PC.
there are quite a few options

Is there a way to check SMART via OTG ?

I use a few external ssd drives via OTG with my Android tablet, and wanted to know if there is a way to check SMART values from my tablet, without a PC (e.g. an android app equivalent to gsmartcontrol) to know if the drives are failing. Thanks
Only kow of Windows apps that do this, e.g. SSDLife.
