Hi,
as a complete noob with smartphones in general and WP specifically. Nevertheless I somehow managed to install HSPL and then the HD2O Dynamics Custom ROM on my HTC Radar.
I configurated my device after installation and it works smoothly. However, all I did so far is connecting my Windows Live Account. It receives E-Mails when I am on the way and via Wifi connection when at home. This is great...
Now I want to do the next necessary steps in "usability". I guess that would be
connect device via USB to PC (Windows 7) and transfer files like Contacts (People), Pictures, Clips in either direction
use the device as storage (like an USB-stick)
I am not familiar with establishing connection or how "syncing" works with WP and W7. What I read is that "ZUNE" is the main syncing tool for that. The problem is, that I think in the last couple of weeks, Microsoft may have abandoned the idea of using Zune for this. Can someone confirm this? If yes, what is it now?
If I connect the Device via USB this is what Windows 7 shows me in the "Devices and Printers" Screen (see attch).
A click on the symbol just opens driver information but not a folder like a removable medium like an USB-Stick in Windows.
Also, I read since I use a Custom ROM, I shouldn't update via Zune (or its successor). Is this true? Would establishing connection with an official syncing tool "kill" my Custom ROM? (In other words: if I connect my Custom ROM device to the official sync tool, would it automatically start an update or only if I explicitly start the update process?)
I'd really appreciate any hints and tips.
Thx in advance!
Edit: after installing WMDC 6.1 and Zune, I now have a solid connection. Still, there's the question how far I can go there without automatically updating to Stock ROM (and therefor damaging my Custom ROM) via offical MS channels.

Hello All,
I recently bought my first smartphone here in Beijing. It's a dopod D805; I hope to upload media to it from my Vista-loaded PC.
The problem is Vista doesn't seem to recognize the device. I downloaded Windows Mobile Center (sorry if I've got the name wrong) but it doesn't seem to do anything. The CD that came with the device doesn't work (it keeps telling me to install Flash 8.0, which seems to imply the software on the disc was designed for pre-Vista systems).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update:
The phone seems simply not to work on Vista. I am now dual-booting XP alongside Vista, and have had much more success using XP and Activesync.
A new newbie question:
I cannot copy files (music, PDFs) from my PC's HDD to the phone's drive. Each time I try I am told there is not enough free space on the drive. This is absurd, as there is nothing on the drive other than what came on it, and the files I'm trying to copy are quite small. What gives?

Welcome to the forum
Have a look in the Wiki here:

Hope it helps,
Thanks for the response.
I checked that page before posting, but it doesn't seem to have much beyond the specs for my model.
All I want to do is install Pleco, and upload some MP3s/PDFs. When I plug the device in, I get the "bing bong" sound, but no new HD appears in My Computer. Since I'm running Vista, I can't use the bundled Activesync software.
Help?
i dont know if this will help but i cant sync my phone with xp unless i set my firewall to allow all.
if you go to my computer and look at your drives, does it not show you phone there as F: or whatever?
Right, it doesn't show a new drive. Note that I'm running Vista, not XP. I'm in the process of getting a dual-boot setup going, but I'm not there yet. Very frustrating.

Hey guys.
How do I install 6.5 on my i780? Guide, anyone?
Few other questions:
-Is it stable enough to use?
-What will happens to my files and programmes?
-Is it fully supported by my phone?
Thanks
You can find how to flash on this forum in i780's threads, basically you need an xp pc, mirage, modem drivers and activesync.
-It's stable except for a mouse bug (when you move the cursor a little square appears on the screen)
-Flashing the device you'll lose everything (except for the files stored in the micosd card) but you can backup sms, calls, contacts etc (no files and no installed programs) with a software called pimbackup
-Yeah but it has the mouse bug (for me it's terrible, but maybe you can live with it)
Ah I see. I'll go look for the stuff and give it a try.
Also.. I heard something about bricking your device? Does this occur often?
Mouse bug shouldn't annoy me that much, since I use the D-pad function.
Thanks for the info
EDIT: I'm using Windows 7, but I can also switch to XP. I have the Activesync program for Windows 7, so would it work?
thanks too
The flashing program (mirage) only works under xp (there are some ways to use it on vista but i suggest you to use xp, i flash from a virtual machine under win7 x64 without problems).
Bricking the device is possible, someone bricked his device and some others people didn't. I hope you're not in the 1st group. This doesn't happens really often but the risk of bricking exists.
i m using samsung i750 How do I install 6.5 on my i750? Guide, anyone?
im facing the problem when i connect mobile via sync it shows error ''can not exute repllog.exe''plz help me.
thx.
Not really a phone thing but I found this by trial and error and swearing.
I use my EEE pc 701 just for syncing with phones and playing with roms and used N-Lite to rip a custom tiny version of XP to fit on the small ssd drive.
After a succesfull OS install I could not load active sync 4.5 for love nor money it just kept saying install interrupted. Turns out the generic NDIS driver which active sync needs to install is bundled somehow with outlook (which I ripped out) or similar thus active sync refuses to install.
If and I know it's not likely happens to you then download this file : http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mapi32 and put it in the system and system 32 folder and active sync installs and works.
sorry if it's not helpful to the forum
I have a question about whether or not it is possible to use my roommate's windows vista laptop and activesync to install HardSPL to my Tilt 2 and then after to sync it with my snow leopard mac with missing sync and flash ROMs via the SDcard method?
Essentially my worry is whether or not setting the phone up and installing hardSPL on a windows computer will format the device for windows preventing it from being synced with my Mac.
An example of this would be an ipod/iphone, if you sync the device with one operating system, windows or osx, it needs to be reformatted to sync with the other system, thus erasing all the data on the device.
Follow up question: Would this reformatting, if it is indeed what occurs, get rid of the HardSPL installed on the device?
Thank you in advance for your responses, this board has answered many of my questions and i look forward to being an active memeber of the community!

I do all that with my Tilt , so there is no reason to believe that you will not be able to do that with the Tilt 2.
I sync all the time with Windows XP on the Windows side of my Intel iMac and also sync on the OSX side of my iMac with MissingSync. No data loss or reformatting issues ever.
I don't know if Missing sync is compatible with Snow Leopard yet, you may want to check.
.
thank you for your help! I'll check the compatiblitly of the program I decide to use for syncing on my mac. Do you use missingsync or do you have another program similar to it you could recommend?
Hi everyone, Is it possible to integrate the WM Device Center directly in the OS? I don't wanna have to open this app every time I connect my phone to the pc..I'm lazy, I know

Seems like you are lazy more than you've expected. You don't even read forum title - it's WP7, not WM forum
I'm not even sure what app or what OS you're referring to - do you mean ToucnXpereince on WP7? That's *supposed* to open automatically when you start WPDM on the PC.
Windows Mobile Device Center is a "big" Windows (desktop/laptop) app, not a phone app... are you saying you want it to launch on the PC when you connect your phone?
Sorry guys, I haven't been clear enough I meant the Windows Mobile Device Center LAUNCHER look at this tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521763
It's an app that has to be launched on a fully unlocked phone every time you connect it to the computer. In this way your device can be explored as a sort of plug&play usb mass storage. You can directly copy on it doc files, or anything else you want. Even xap files on my HD7 with deepshining, if I install a File Browser too, I'm able to install XAPs directly from my phone without any other software installed on my pc or on my phone. I think it's a great thing, even for doc files because before of this program the only method to transfer them from PC to the phone ad vice versa was to send'em to myself via mail, or use skydrive. Not much convenient for me. This new method simplyfied my life
So my question was: can this XAP be directly integrated in Windows Phone 7 so when I connect my device to the computer I don't have to open every time this app on my phone?
Now *that* is actually an interesting question. It's certainly possible to have a PC app start a phone app; that's how WPDM launches TouchXperience or Visual Studio launches a debug app. To launch fully automaticlaly, though... that would probably require that the app either have some background service (possible on a fully-unlocked ROM) that monitors for a PC connection, or that the app be registered in some way as "do this when you connect" although I'm not sure how I'd go about the latter.
Yeah, now it's much clear and as GoodDayToDie said is much more interesting I'm already thought about implementation (but I need to run WPConnect.exe automatically, not a Windows Mobile Device Center LAUNCHER). I'll try to find time for the development of this app (this one - finding time - is really hard ), so stay tuned!
Here we are: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24820620
Hey, gigsaw, did you tried WP7 auto launcher? I don't have full unlock so I can't test with WMDC Launcher.
So sorry if it seems that I disappeared but someone stole my HD7 some days ago D: D: D: D: I'm so sad........I was very interested in windows phone 7, I thought it could be the best mobile OS with a bit of developing..but now I can't do anything more. So sorry guys ='(
