Question [Joying UIS7862 4GB/64GB Android 10] How to get Carlink to start on its own? - FYT Android Head Units

Hello,
I recently got a Joying HU with an Intel UIS7862 and Android 10.
I hooked it up in my car so that it starts as soon as I unlock it with my keys and my dream is that the HU automatically starts the Carlink app (Android Auto/Apple Carplay) so that Carplay (Wireless) is already up and running when I get into the car.
I just can’t get any autostart to work though...
So far, I’ve tried like 20 apps in the PlayStore, none of them worked, like at all…
I’ve played around with Tasker as well, but that one doesn’t start either on boot/resume from sleep, making any rules/tasks meaningless in the first place…
Now the confusing thing… Yesterday, I was working on the interior of my car and while watching YouTube on the unit. Today, I went and got something out of the car and I noticed that YouTube automatically booted up. Some more testing and I could reproduce that behavior… Unfortunately, Carlink doesn’t come up on its own when the car is off for more than like 10 minutes…
Although YouTube isn’t in the skipkillapp.prop either, I thought may adding Carlink (com.syu.carlink = -13) might prevent it from getting killed, but no luck there either…
Has anyone an idea of how I get Carlink to start automatically when the HU starts/comes up from sleep?

Hi,
Can you tell me how did you manage to activate wireless CarPlay in carlink app? When I press activate, it say that function activation failed. I contacted joying but no solution

If you use Agama Car Launcher, you can set apps to auto start. I haven’t tried with car link yet but it works with my radio app whenever I turn the car on.

Somewhere down in the factory settings menu there is a *start with usb* setting. The only options are "none" and "carlink". When i choose carlink it launches as soon as i plug my phone in.
Not exactly what youre seeking but if you only use carlink with isb its a god workaround.

Somewhere in settings the is a option to select navigation app.
Select navigation=carlink -and it should start after boot/resume.
Car launcher pro also has an option to auto starts apps, and it seems to work reliably.
Btw I don't think UIS7862 is Intel...

Mirrorlink + Car Mode not working

I purchased the S7 hoping to utilize my head unit on my 2014 Honda Civic. I installed RockScout to ensure SOMETHING would show up and it did. I installed Car Mode through the Galaxy app store, and the app shows up under the Mirrorlink "menu" in settings under MirrorLink applications. One would think that this would mean it should show up on the car's screen when connected, but alas it does not.
Is there something I'm missing? Has anyone else been able to get this to work?
solved... somewhat
So I found a solution for those who may be having the same issue.
--- I guess I can't post links yet because I'm so new.. go to youtube and use this video id to watch: xEaR97-ETeM ---
surprisingly, this seems to have made the car mode work for me.
Perform the steps shown in the video,
Open Car Mode on your phone
Connect the phone to the car via USB
Select one of the available MirrorLink apps (in my case it was Rock Scout)
The chosen app will open and the Car Mode nav bar will appear on the left. Now you can just hit it's home button and you're taken to Car Mode.
Now I need to figure out how to get Google Maps to work on Car Mode. Currently, it looks like it only supports navigation apps that Mirror Link supports
(I'm assuming due a head-unit-display-UI not being available on Google Maps.. probably legal reasons there)
What is the title of the youtube video? I tried your link and it did not work out for me.
When I connect the Galaxy S7 to my stereo, the Samsung automatically locks on the Mirrorlink connection screen, it will not let me navigate way.

still this is strange, car mode is visible under mirrorlink certifications yet it is not visible when phone is connected to car radio
Having the same problem. 2016 Subaru Crosstrek with factory head unit. Couple mirror link apps are working fine but car mode does not show up on the head unit at all. Really want it so I can use google maps on the bigger screen.
Running a Sony XAV-601BT and same issue. It shows as connected (however get a USB device not recognized error), tried the tricks above and no dice Really disappointed so far, as my old Z2 worked fine.
Found some info in the Subaru forums. Sounds like MirrorLink 1.1 is more strict about what it allows to display. So 1.0 just kinda mirrored everything, 1.1 actually checks to make sure you don't wiggle your way into another app. Since Car Mode isn't allowed by the car, even though its MirrorLink certified, it gets blocked... Sigh...

Yes, MirrorLink 1.1 also requires each specific app to be certified before it can be displayed. I don't think Google is going to support this ever, since they are pushing their own Android Auto.
Would LOVE to see a workaround for this, purchased a mirrorlink addon for my Pioneer AVH-X3600BHS and it doesnt work properly grrr
Grrr "Smartphone Not Compatible" when trying to connect Samsung Galaxy s7 to Honda Civic 2016...Applications are certified, USB in MTP mode but it just does not work...
I've only got this to work with HTC phones. See my video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhFsBz31-qU
There are other videos on youtube as well . . all using HTC phones.
I've tried my process on a couple nexus devices and samsung devices, they don't work.
Something about the HTC mirrorlink technology thats works perfectly... EVERYTHING works.
So . . . i'm currently stuck using a cheap HTC 626s phone because it works so well with my 2014 Civic si head unit.
Currently looking for a used HTC m9 or 10 so I can have a beefier phone but still retain the mirrorlink functionality.
This only worked for me so far when the ROM is stock. Dunno if has something to do with the other ROMs being rooted.. Researching, because I'd like to have a custom ROM with root AND this working.
I have a pioneer nex and a galaxy s7. The online way i found to conecct was installing sygic car Navigation, the app works with mirrorlink so it opens on the hu, then i just exit the app and boom full mirroing, the only problem is that the Phone stays locked while conected.

Do all your buttons work properly, like the the back button? On Appradio 4 with my s7 edge, I can only hit the home button which takes me back to rock scout. I haven't tried sygic

In mine only the back button of the hu is shown, the others are missing too, so i ve installed a program to simulate the buttons, its called Simple Control.
I've heard that the pioneer is easy to hack, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Linux that these seem to run? Is there a way to trick the car head unit to allow any device with a custom rom to connect to mirrorlink 1.1?
My mass storage device is recognised but the internal SD card in MTP mode isn't. Does Sygic App allow it to connect regardless?
Anyone has skills how to mod car mode app, so it works like RockScout. Apparently it only works on VW mirorlink radios, I have a Subaru with the 7" Mirrorink 1.1 inch unit and it would be nice if this software barrier can be "corrected". I have seen it show car mode when exiting the RockScout app, so I know it works, just that its blocked.
There is a way to root the phone and then install an app that runs car mode, but this doens't work in 1.1 either. I have heard that someone was running CM mod with full mirroring. Any thoughts? There must be a way in Linux to connect and change the connect settings through the app? Is it it android specifiic ie version?

I have the same vehicle. So frustrating to have a brand new car with a perfectly decent screen built in (picture of backup cam looks pretty good) and no ability to take advantage of it. They want us to pay however many thousand dollars more to use their navigation system, which I'm sure sucks out of the box and will no doubt be useless in 1-2 years anyway. It would be SO MUCH SAFER if they let us just mirror the friggin screen. You KNOW it's not that compatibility is complicated. Dicks. (I love my Subaru otherwise )

Android Auto on Galaxy S6

Hi All,
I've just gotten a car with native Android Auto support and I was looking forward to using this.
During the test drive in October 2015 (still on 5.1.1) I managed to get it working but sadly in my new car it's not working.
Due to the great number of variables I'd like to hear your experiences as well. I've tried Noble Rom and Extrestolite with similar results. The android auto app setup screen appears very briefly and then crashes back to the home screen.
I've also tried multiple USB cords to make sure this isn't the problem.
My car is a Skoda Superb with the Columbus infotainment system. This same system is used in various Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat cars.
I would really like to hear if you managed to get Android Auto working, on what radio / head unit and what rom and Android version.
If you had to do any extra steps to get it to work, please let me know too.
Thanks!

Thanks for the help. In the end the solution was both simple and insane.
Turns out it was a problem with the time setting. Even though my car had the correct time set I had to go into the settings of the car and set it to Auto (GPS) and set the correct time zone.
After that it started working and has been working consistently.

HTC U11 MirrorLink on Subaru Legacy 2017 (Or any HeadUnit)

So I can't seem to get this to work. I downloaded Rock Scout, plugged my U11 in plugged it in, it shows "Use USB for MirrorLink" so I switch to file transfer usb and I get a new notification saying "MirrorLink Active", but my "MirrorLink" icon doesn't activate. I know the Legacy has MirrorLink v1.1, does anybody know if I have to do anything else to make MirrorLink work?
Also has anyone gotten MirrorLink to work on any car HU?
I posted a reply b4 didn't seem to work. To mirror htc u11 to a car head unit.
1. turn head unit on select mirror
2. have phone on a homepage
3. swipe up with three fingers this turns on mirroring.
4. select car entertainment system or whatever comes up on your phone.
That should mirror across it worked for me and my kenwood head unit I just installed.
remember every time you leave mirror to listen to music or directions or anything. to get back to mirroring you need to follow the steps again.
Hope that works for you as I said it worked for me. Good luck Chatto
I checked on cert.mirrorlink.com if your htc has mirrorlink and it is not showing up.
if you go on your phone settings at device connection or network connection (i don't remember exactly) can you see MirrorLink service there?
I think Subaru's mirror link version is not compatible with their crap head unit? I don't know. Yes I see "MirrorLink connection" in the USB connection settings. When plugged in, the phone thinks it's on, it just seems like Subaru's implementation doesn't recognize it, and of course a lot if not all the 2018 Subarus come with Android Auto. Guess they got tired of everyone complaining MirrorLink was foobar'd.
I stopped caring/trying. A bit of a shame actually.
What's the benefit of MirrorLink vs just bluetooth pairing? I just use bluetooth with my Kenwood, though I don't think it supports MirrorLink, and the Subi we have is a 2013, which also doesn't support MirrorLink that I know of, but also has good old bluetooth. Is there some secret i'm out of the loop about, or is it more or less trivial prefrence?
Well mirrorlink could let me use, say Waze on my headunit display instead of buying a mount and mounting my phone. The gist of mirrorlink is basically you can get your phone display on the headunit. But yes bluetooth works.
Anyway for those interested in what I see and the "version" of software on my headunit:
Settings showing mirrorlink active: http://imgur.com/a/cNymR
Notifications saying mirrorlink is on: http://imgur.com/a/TYMfM
my headunit version info: http://imgur.com/a/5cl14
Maybe its a version issue and I need an update, but bottom line is, if Subaru says they have it, and my phone has it, it should work. However judging by the feedback around the internet, it would appear Subaru is at fault here somehow. So shame on them for choosing poor technology and/or having engineers implement it poorly.
Double post. Sorry

You are correct, I didn't see it on there either. But it's clearly on the device. Check my post above. Maybe it has 1.2 on it and Subaru only supports 1.1. (They had the same issue with 1.0 and 1.1). I sent HTC a question about it so we'll see.

Can't uninstall Android auto + looking for advices to get better performance from it

Hey guys, first i want to apolgize about my english.
I got new multimedia in my car today, joying android 8.1 and i tried to install from ApkMirror the Android auto apk, but when i installed it, it was install as administrator app(i think.. i can only activate or disable the app). i cant open the app and cant uninstall it.
i'm unrooted.
there is way to uninstall it?
and if i already made a thread, i want to get some recommended apps for my multimedia joying in my car
I'm not sure how you would uninstall it, but in any case, you install Android Auto on your phone, not on the head unit. On the head unit side, you either need a dongle (your head unit manufacturer will sell one as an accessory) into which you plug in your phone via a USB cable, or you install an app called "HeadUnit reloaded" on the head unit. Although I have Android Auto and Headunit Reloaded, I don't really use them. I find AA too restrictive, the only real benefit it gives me as access to messages (SMS, Whatsapp) from my phone.
I've only had my head unit for a few weeks now, but have installed the Hal9k ROM, and FCC Launcher. I also installed PowerAmp for music. It's really easy to configure it all to work together so that the interface is as easy to use as Android Auto

General AA on Chinese head unit

Hi, I have a Chinese android head unit, I've fitted it in my van, all good apart from the one thing I wanted...Android Auto. Allegedly it's come with Android Auto installed. My phone and cable work fine in my car, and Auto connect to Android Auto, but not on this Android head unit I've fitted. I naively thought I could plug my phone in and it automatically start up but nothing happens, everything else on the head unit, I've worked out, and is fine. It's probably a set up problem, I'm wondering about an APL file, but I just don't know what to do and the instructions that came with it are not much help, I would appreciate a point in the right direction pls

Is it an FYT unit. Post Android system information including MCU version
@marchnz is right. Tell us what you have. There are a lot of different units.

It does not work automatically on these Chinese head utnits.
You first have to pair it to bluetooth.
Then you connect it via USB.
Then you start the z-link or carlink app, whatever it is called on your unit (and that is why we need to know what your unit is).
Then it should work.

Thanks, I’ll find the Android version and MCU (whatever that is), bare with me, thanks for the response, Bluetooth is paired, I can make calls via the head unit that way, and I connect via USB just as I do in my car, I haven’t seen a link for zlink or the android auto logo ?, all my phone does when I plug in is charge, there are two usb sockets on the back of the unit, 4 wire and five wire, my DAB aerial is plugged in the 4 wire and is working ok, my phone is in the five wire USB, I did swap them round , it made no difference, I’ll come back with MCU and Android version, thanks again, it’s a Brosmartek XRC-T3 06FuTe (that’s exactly what’s on the box) if that helps. I’ve found previously that purchases such as this come with very, very basic instructions, virtually zero.
If I search on your Brosmartek XRC-T3, the adds say you need to download the EasyConnect.apk. Did you do that?

Hi, I got it sorted, I hot spotted the unit off my phone and updated it, then I thought about z-link that you mentioned and recalled seeing Tlink5 ... I went into settings and changed from Google maps to the mysterious Tlink5 and hey presto...Tlink5 is required for Carplay and Android Auto. Everything is good now, such a shame that it's not in the instructions, then again what little instructions there was , was no help. Thanks for all your help, it was the Z-link mention that just got me wondering. "Tlink5"... who would have thought it.
