Searched and found a thread from 2013, wow. Anyone know how to transfer apk, cant gmail either, appears that the powers that be were able to figure out our secret (renaming) and send all kimds of security patches! LOL
You found a thread from 2013 and here you are getting a reply 7 months later .
I transfer apks a lot with Bluetooth. I use Mixsplorer, go to the APK section, or find it in your files, long click then a share button pops up, choose Bluetooth from the list, then the Bluetooth menu comes up then select the device you are sending it to
I transfer apks all the time to/from flash drive and PC via c port. Stock 10+ Pie.

Having the same problem. Can send files to but cannot revieve them from any phone on the sensation. Error message states that it is forbidden by the target device. Have found no workaround.

Hmmm...weird, I have been able to connect, pair and transfer from an old Samsung Impression as well as a Sidekick 4G without issue. Are you able to see, and pair with the phones that you are having trouble with? If you are able to pair (ie confirm that the codes are the same on both phones) do you get the prompt to "Accept or Decline" the file transfer in the status bar of the Sensation?
Using ES File Explorer, I've been able to send and receive files (MP3s) via BT with an older Nokia touchscreen without issues.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

Yeah that's the thing, I verified the security code and accepted the incoming file and then I got a notification saying that the file was downloading, but when I pull down the notif bar it reads 0 successful, 1 failed. Failure because transfer is forbidden on target device. Incidentally, bump isn't working either. I'd like to try other apps but I'm trying to transfer an .apk.
Do you have the "unknown sources" box checked under settings>>applications?
Is this the only apk you've tried to do this with? Or just the only apk that doesn't cooperate?
Have you tried uploading the apk to a website and downloading it via internet?

Hey Sacob;58210707,
I have about the same problem as Chrome cant fine the https://www.192.168.1.xxx:8890 (where xxx is my private 3
digit number.)
Have you tried the https://www.192.168.1.xxx:8890 (replace the xxx with your 3 digit numer before the 8890) listed on the page after Activate "FIND" page?
Should be done ONCE, and NOT popping up every time we login to airdroid.
And . . .
Can't connect via USB which would be the BEST of the ways to connect to Airdroid in the first place since we
1. wouldn't be transferring in the net using up battery that WIFI uses on both devices, android and pc.
and
2. Would be charging our phones, which is super biggy plus.
And. . .
When airdroid downloaded its very own new update today, it said that it couldn't install because of parsing something.
Ain't that a hoot?
And. . .
When I went on airdroid.com> signed in> and finally found an Icon called "Widgets" it went to a calendar and NO, (that is absolutely no,) way to get out of the calendar page,
Even frantically tapping the big "" X "" on the lower left of their "calendar" page.
Ctrl with Arrow Back didn't work either cause some web builder thought that key combo should be shut OFF.
So I had to completely log out and log back in, (username and password again,) to go to the page the mean little "Widgets" Icon was located.
So.. . . to sum up . .
The ONLY thing that works on this app, so far, is that I can use ONLY, is the on-board Android "Apps" part on my S3 itself, and NO way to communicate with my pc.
Which by the way was handled greatly with any Android File managers.
Where do we find support?
Thanks for this topic!
Hi guys
Due to unforeseen consequences during a holiday, a beer bottle got dropped on my phone and it cracked the screen. Now I want to take a backup of my photos before I send for repairs and I will appreciate any help I can get! Here are the details:
Phone: Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Firmware: Stock Sony Kitkat, non rooted
Screen: Cracked, funny colours cannot see anything on the screen and touch does not work
USB Debugging Mode: Off
Wifi: On
Resources Available: OTG cable, AndroidLost is installed (its for finding your lost phone with a multitude of other useful features as well - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidlost), MHL cable ordered online and on the way...
So firstly, I plugged in the phone to my laptop and could not open the Internal Storage as I had a pattern lock set up. But thankfully, using Androidlost I could unlock the phone remotely (it resets and disables the lock). Once it opened I could see that my internal storage was full (around 11 gigs) and I could browse all my files. I didn't have the time to transfer my files at the time so I thought I will do it later and switched everything off. This happened once more when I accessed it from another laptop but again got interrupted and decided to back it up later.
Now strangely, the third time I tried this (and on multiple laptops now), the Internal Storage is only showing 7.5gb of 11gb used, and when I open it most folders are missing and most files are missing from the folders which are present. It may be some weird issue of MTP or MSC mode or something, not sure.
I've ordered an MHL cable so I can plug in to my TV and see if the files are present if I browse through the phone. Its really weird though, wonder how the files disappeared if they have.
I also tried to access my phone through an Ubuntu machine but was not successful in mounting it.
And I also tried to put in an SD card and browse that through a laptop, and I could do that but the internal storage remained the same.
One path I was following - using Android Lost I can open any app on my phone remotely. I can install any app using Google Play store on a browser. I can figure out the LAN IP address through my router/netscan. Is there any app you think I can install to remotely make my phone an FTP server or something so I can browse my files that way? The only problem is I cannot click 'Start' or anything which most such apps require so once the app is launched everything else must be remote-doable.
Thanks for taking out the time to read this!

Very lengthy question.
So you want to make your phone an FTP server. I have a great solution for that
Install the legendary ES File Explorer from the Play Store
Select Remote Manager from the option, it will turn on WIFI hotspot and also give a FTP address. Just connect your PC with wifi and enter the addresss in any web browser you want
That's all
Hit thanks if helped

Hi Sushant,
thanks for reading the whole thing and for your suggestion.
I can install ES File Explorer. I can start the app remotely using Android Lost. Problem is, I cannot use my screen so I cannot go to the options and select remote manager.

i really really want to help OP but i cant think of the name of the app. its something like vlc, vhc, vcl, the point is. you can control the screen remotly over the same wifi network. i think if you could install the app remotly and install it on your computer, you would be able to unclock it remotly because you can see the screen on your computer.
if i remember the name i will post it for you. good luck OP!
Thank you Phurkus! I think you may be referring to VNC.
I found an app called 'VNC Server' that you can connect to using Real VNC on your computer. But after launching this app, it needs me to tap 'On' before it starts so again, no-go.
I'll search around for an app that uses VNC that doesn't require any set up on the android side besides just being installed and launched. Thanks again!
I have the Google Drive app on several devices. It is very important to me. Last year it got shut down by Google for containing " contaminated" files which were just Excel files containing hyperlinks. Although the hyperlinks were perfectly safe my drive was frozen for some length of time then I had to remove the offending files for it to work again. I deleted them and eventually Drive got back to normal but it was a huge pita.
I have an old windows tablet which has the drive all on it containing those files. It hasn't been turned on in years so it isn't a problem. I would like to use it this weekend but I'm afraid it will update and put those files back to online Google drive from Google drive folder in tablet as soon as I turn it on. This will freeze my drive and I go through the huge hastle again.
When I shut off the old tablet it definitely contained those Google forbidden Excel files in the Google drive folder. If I turn it on will drive update to current status without those files or will it put them right back when folder updates to cloud freezing me out again? What is the easiest way to ensure that doesn't happen?

Boot to recovery and factory reset the device.
Or
Turn the device on in a place where there is no network to connect to, it won't update/upload/backup anything without a network connection. Use that time to turn off/disconnect all network settings/connections, then delete or uninstall whatever you need to get rid of, then reboot the device.

i have the a51 and when i connect it to the pc to get photos off the phone and paste them into a pc folder and open it in the file explorer i get small icons and i get the oldest photos first. when i connect my lg aristo and my oterh samsung that i do not recall teh models they open photos in file explorer with large icons and newest photos first.
so it kind of looks like i have to do some phone settings to make this happen. i tried win10 but they are telling me i need different apps etc. but my older phones do this so the a51 should do this as well. even the nokia does thes but with that phone i have to first copy all the photos into a folder first.
anyway is there a setting on the phone that tell the files to open large and new files first? the phone puts the date and a file number on the photos automatically.
also on a side note how do i stop the pc from giving me that warning triangle in the taskbar and if i click that it tells me the phone has been disconnected or stopped working. i have even use the safe to remove hardware to eject the phone and i still get that message and i do not get it for any other phones i would just unplug those old phones and be doen with it. this phone give me that message every time
