This started happening about 2 weeks ago. Happened on my 8T and my wife's. I chatted with Sprint support, and they fixed it on my phone, but I didn't have the other line with me to test. In any case, we tried reaching out to Sprint support by phone and by chat and spent hours on it since with no resolution. Obviously, we tried different messaging apps with no difference. This is annoying in general, but is really an issue with getting verification codes that are useless as they are already expired by the time we get it.
If someone has any insight, I would love to hear about it.
Thank you!
Try uninstalling Carrier Services, recent reviews suggest this app is to blame for the delays: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.ims&showAllReviews=true

Hey buddy Im Goin to try and help you bc I just solved this. First let me explain. I also have a broken hand so bear w typos and this situation took almost a week to fix, I ve been sprint for 15yrs and just got the one plus 8t 5g. So once contacting sprint they said I needed a tmobile Sim card to receive the 5g benefits. So I drove 120miles to the store they switched the so. And I was getting texts in 10 min, still not acceptable. So finally I found this dude name Ryan at t-mobile (ur Goin to need their help).. Why ever tmobile change my Sim they never installed any of the "tmobile system apps" that need it to run. So he pushed some updates and finally. He got it. But you need to speak to this Ryan. He did g such a good job for me I wrote a letter to his supervisor. If you want the number I used I can get it for you, but you need Ryan the damn man! Hope this helps bc it was a ***** for me.

After 3 days of testing, looks like rolling back Carrier Services and turning off the Private DNS option in Settings has my OnePlus 8t - T-mobile phone working great with no more lag with text messages and no network switching issues.

I'll try turning off Private DNS if it's enabled. 5G hasn't been showing up the last couple of weeks either, though it is showing up on another OnePlus 8T.

Did not work. Spent another few hours with Sprint today trying to fix it. Totally ridiculous.
Went to a store to switch to TNX with a Tmobile SIM yesterday. SMS still comes in about 11-13 minutes late. Sprint support is horrible.

Update: I fixed the issue. Not sure which step fixed it, but I think the last one did, because I tried the ones before already.
I uninstalled carrier services updates in the Play Store.
I cleared the cache and storage from the Google Messages app.
I put in the Tmobile SCMC number ( +12063130004) in the Google Messages app instead of the actual cell phone. (Should be +17044100000 for Sprint, iirc).

There has been a LARGE uptick in the amount of people getting scammed on used phones. People are getting T-mobile phones where they pay nothing upfront then make monthly payments towards the phone. Once people get the phone they sell it on craigslist then stop paying the bill. After a while t-mobile blacklists the IMEI and it stops working.
I would call t-mobile and talk to them to make sure your not a victim before spending lots of time looking for other technical solutions.

im starting to think my phone is blacklisted, i bought it new with stickers but the guy didnt include the back on it which i had to order. he had a few more for sale as well, he said he had a friend who worked for tmo and gave him a deal. while that is a conclusion, i dont understand why it would happen after i flash a different radio? it was perfectly fine before hand.

Your thread was confusing to me to so I skipped it. I'll jump into and see if I'm any help.
I'm having problems with my phone and i chatted with online with at&t and gave me the number to call for my order. I called that number and told them what problems i was having with it and they said they would send me a new device but they told me it would be faster if i went to an at&t store to exchange it there. when i went they didn't have any in stock. So today i called this number again and i told what issues i was having and then she told me something about my order was going to be escalated(not sure if that's what i heard but it was something that sounded like that). And they would call me back in 24 to 48 hours about my request. Has this ever happened to you guys? I called yesterday and they said they would exchange it for me.
mostly likely they are low on inventory or they are just stalling. just keep at it or say you will leave to another provider that will give you better service.

I returned my online order to my local store today. I had a black one and ended up with a white one after the two black ones they had were defective. Be persistent and refuse to pay any restocking fees if they try to charge you. You can check online on the S4 page to see if stores in your area have any in stock. Good luck, hope you get it resolved.

The call back within 24-48 hours is typical. They want to see if the troubleshooting methods they tried worked. Assuming they don't, tell the Rep when they call back and it's taken care of asap. They are following protocol and your experience will vary by rep and by your issue.

My phone sounded like I was in a drum. The rep denied hearing such until I compared it side by side with another S4 for him. This was without the case on so nothing was obstructing the mic. New one sounds great. If the rep doesn't want to help...just talk to the manager. I had to wait for the rep that I dealt with first since he knew what was going on when I exchanged the second time (paint chipping on and around the volume key). I hadn't been to my store in months and when the manager walked in he knew me by name which was refreshing. I'm happy they understand that there are bound to be issues with first-run phones.

Same here. I used to use Google Wallet before the update on CVS once in a while. However after the update I'm not able to use it anymore.
Not rooted, running stock Android 4.4.3. OTA Verizon Updated.
I am resetting my phone now and will try soon when I get another chance. Anyway, how did it go for you? is yours working now? I do not have insurance, just ran out two days ago when I did a plan change. Sucks big time now that I have to get to know that it doesn't work. Also, just to be sure I tried ISIS/Softcard Wallet as well to see if it is the Google Wallet itself is blocked or handicapped for some reason. But to my surprise, ISIS/Softcard does not work as well. I am doubting the hardware now. Or this is a solid 4.4.3 Update bug that is causing our device to not function as normal. Question is, is Verizon aware of this? How do we report this to Verizon?
According to what I see here, only few have been affected it seems? or is it so?
I am left with many more questions than answers ever since the update.
P.S - After the update my phone isn't as smooth as it was before either. Feels like the I am experiencing choppy frame rates often times. But not to the level that I will fault the phone.
Please help. Let me know what worked for you and what didn't.

Thanks for the response, Honestly, anything and everything helps. Since you have a Verizon M8, assuming from your signature, I guess I am in the minority or rare bunch who's device is affected. I am glad to know that your device is functioning as normal.
I do not have insurance at the moment. And I am sad to learn that I have to send my device to HTC for repairs. Which takes about 10-14 days without phone.
Does Verizon do loaner phones?

You should be covered under verizons one year manufacturer warranty go in to a verizon corporate store they will probably overnight you another m8, and from what most assume usually they seem to always send a new m8 because they are really hard to disassemble so many thing they replace with new. I know many people that got an m8 replaced through asuron the verizon and at&t insurance and everyone says they got a new one because you can go into the settings and they dont show reconditioned and usually show a build date within a couple months of when they receive them.
I say take it to a verizon owned corporate store steer clear of verizon dealers a corporate store can do more for you like overnight you a replacement.
Bit the bullet and called HTC.

Bit the bullet and called HTC. Found out there is another program that they send out a device in advance, overnight that is along with a mailer envelope to return our old unit. But it seems they put a hold on your card for 599 and also a 29 one time fee for this to happen. I am thinking if it is worth going this route. At least this will solve my problem of being without a phone.
But before I do that, I have made sure the HTC Rep to record our coversation and give me time to call back, so that I can test it out one more time.
( Did I tell you some HTC reps are dumb? The first one I talked to, the girl was so stupid that she did not know what is NFC and asked me to explain what it is, and how to use it. Asked me to pause, stopped me numerous times and made me repeat what was not working. After all that, she still did not get it. Hung up the phone on me and left, and did not bother to call me on my backup callback number. Lol. )
---------- Post added at 02:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:40 PM ----------
Just went to CVS and tried my Google Wallet. Wholla, it worked. So the second reset seemed to have fixed the problem. Or did it? I am not sure, only time will tell. I will keep on trying once in a while to be sure that it is not just a fluke.
Here is what I did.
The HTC rep (the second one that is, first one was dumb and rude due to her limited understanding) asked me to reset the phone once more, and when the phone booted up, I unchecked the Settings > Power > Fastboot option. Disabled Softcard/ISIS Wallet in App settings, Installed Google Wallet again. And all seems to be in order now. Not sure what caused the initial trouble.
I will be on the look and report if the trouble comes back again.
Thanks for the suggestions and feedback guys.

So as my previous post suggested, after a hard reset and disabling the Softcard/ISIS app, and having Google Wallet as the exclusive app, the tap and pay worked at the CVS. However, when I tried again last night, it is no longer working and not registering the tap anymore at the terminal.
I am confused. Is it the hardware? Should I go ahead with the replacement device from HTC? or Should I just blame the software and keep the phone as is. Although my contacts and account is backed up in Google accounts, I still think its a hassle reinstalling 50+ apps, and restoring the phone to its fully functional day to day state that suited me. I just do not like the hassle of swapping phones.
Any last suggestions guys? Or hardware swap is my only way?

Update - Got rid of the HTC One M8, swapped for a Galaxy S5 on craigslist and guess what, Google wallet works fine there. Yes, although that is a Verizon phone as well, grass is definitely greener on that side. I do not like the menu system and UI, color etc, but what it supposed to do, it does without any issues. Yes I miss the aluminum body and the build, also the sense 6, but the ease of use with fingerprint sensor and the vibrancy of amoled screen picks up the slack. Wish HTC can use Amoled screens as well.
I was able to use google wallet no problem after the 4.4.3 update at CVS this is however before CVS disabled their NFC payment system.
Stock Rooted.
I was able to use it just fine at Walgreens this morning.
Never had a problem with it 4.4.3 or 4.4.4
So i have a big request from all you guys. I took back my note 7 and got a note 5 back again. The whole taking back the note 7 was special, as in i got threatened by one of the associates. Below is the video:
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=8SVHNc5UgaA
So fast forward through all the crap that happened to my account after returning the note 7 because I was a OJ customer. Now I got a note 5 that is getting really hot. -Attached is a screenshot right after i made a call nothing else running.
So i try to reach out to T-mobile on Twitter because I couldn't get the online chat to work to save my life and the call wait time was like 45 minutes.
So long story short they tell me that the note 5 64gb is back-ordered for 40 days minimum. So I asked if they can send me another phone, because this one is definitely broke. Among some of the other things it does, it keeps turning Wifi off and on again if i just tap it on the notification bar. :crying: I also am having an issue with getting or sending text messages. I've factory reset the phone 3 times by now, everything is still happening. I am really at a loss.
They told me that they can send me like a V10 for the 40 days until i get my phone. I told then I don't agree with that since that's a huge downgrade and I would be using my phone to take Christmas pictures. This Christmas specifically was more important to me because I actually get to spend it with my grandmother. I kind of wanted to have some good pics to keep.
So they told me that the only other way I can go about it is to jump again. So spend another 100$ and get another phone. I actually agreed and wanted to get the V20, but was told that no stores have them in stock, so they would ship me one.
OK. That whole conversation was on Monday. Today my order is still showing in processing. So i went into a store and what do you know it... they had V20s in stock, like 20 or so the guy told me. So I try to talk to someone on twitter again and all their replies feel like they think that I just want my phone faster and there is nothing wrong with my phone. It's all standard "i have a V20 and i understand that you really want to get your device sooner". That's not it. My phone literally burns to touch. I wanna just get something that i can count on, I just wanna be able to take some pics for the 1st X-mas with my grandmother after almost 16 years (i moved to the US 16 years ago).
So what i'm asking is there any way you could give me some suggestions or even some likes on the tweets that i have to John Legere. I am about to post that video to twitter. I also have a recording of their customer service person telling me to go f myself because I told her that I don't lie, no matter what she thinks.
Also here's what i wrote them on tweeter:

Oh.... damn... Well dont go to T-mobile guys... lol
Don't go Verizon either, lol.
I bought the phone from the official website about 2-3 months ago.
Like everyone who got it, I was amazed by how snappy it was, also the wifi signal was the best in all my phones.
From time to time I did notice occasional complete signal drops.
Being summer I went in a foreign country where I didn't use the phone signal at all, so the phone was on airplane mode for a week.
When I came home the issues persisted so I contacted oneplus support.
The resolutions where the following:
1. Network settings reset
2. Master reset of the phone
3. Updating the phone to the latest update by ota updates
4. Full flash of the phone (using a pc and files supplied by oneplus, )
5.Updating again because the software was older
Now of course nothing worked, and the last step was that I had to take logs .
Logs were sent to them for more than 10 days and still I got no resolution.
My phone is broken, I cant make a call whatsoever, or be called for that matter, the only way i cant call or be called is if i set the phone to 2G only, and then people cant hear me.
Doesn't matter if on 4g/3g/2g the signal drops regularly rendering the phone useless .
I emailed the support but they keep pushing me by stating that they need to analyse the logs.
What would you guys do?
I mean , that a device that in the first 2 months has problems, no drops, no splashes, not even root.....there has to be a law or something to protect the customer in situations like this....
If anyone has a suggestion, please feel free to share, for other people ...well you've been warned.

I would flash the phone back to the latest stock oos through fastboot again first and see if the problem is resolved. If not then I would send it to OnePlus for a replacement. I had the same issue back in the day with a Note 3 that had radio issues and it ended up being a bad phone.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
That was step 4, they did that for me, but they used a software ,,quallcom something'' it was basically a odin like app , flashed the entire phone ,system modem ..all of it
I would psot the files but they sent me in a password protected zip and then they deleted the files
Send it in for repair or replacement. It's up to OnePlus how they handle this case. You have done more than enough.
You should add a date (14 days max) when you expect your or a new device back. Else they must refund you.
Are you sure that your SIM card is good? Does the SIM card work in another phone?

Then send it back - has to be a hardware issue with the phone itself
OP like to ignore RMAs.

So after 10+ days from posting the logs, and a lot of back and forth useless mails they are saying the same stuff.
This will be my last one+ product
So the story ended by oneplus repairing the phone.
The motherboard was changed.
