Hi I have my 3 bank cards set up with Google Pay and although everything set up fine & looks ok in the app I am unable to make payments using the phone.
I have tried in 3 different shops & keep getting an error, it's a big circle with an exclamation mark with text underneath saying "That didn't work"
I thought it must have been an issue with the terminal, but I have tried in other stores and have the exact same issue on all 3 cards from different banks.
I did have a message pop up a few days after the first attempt saying my phone can now be used to make payments. But I am still getting the same error.
Has anyone come across this error before?
Hard to tell if the issue lies with my bank, Google or Xiaomi hardware.
Settings > network connections> tap and pay > choose hce wallet.
Go to manage app and clear cache for Google pay, Google play service and Google services framework.
Restart phone and set up Google pay again.
Thanks for the tip, I'll give this a try
Still no luck on this.
Gonna have to try a factory reset I think.
I'm using this phone with Google Pay in the UK, had no issues myself. I didn't have to make any settings changes, etc.
(I got my unit from Xiaomi UK)
you can try this.

I am having the same problem (in Italy). I setup everything ang Google Pay tells me that everything is ok, but then when I try to pay a red exclamation mark appears. I tried to enable HCE, uninstall and reinstall Google Pay but no luck. What can I do? @jusumgeezer did you by chance debloat something or have you tried a factory reset?
Just FYI, a factory reset fixed the issue for me, I tried this morning and it worked on the first try!

Hi,
Quick update on this.
I managed to get it sorted with a factory reset.
After resetting I skipped past adding the Google account & went in to the app settings & enabled all permissions for Google pay & disabled any MIUI optimization.
I also did the same for my banking apps before logging in.
After that I was able to add my cards to Google Pay without any issues, following the normal process & now everything works fine with 3 cards added.

Hi. So a few weeks ago I rooted my Nexus 5. I had Google Wallet up and working fine before. However, I forgot to go in and disable everything before rooting. The problem is that when I tap and pay it always says "payment declined" and just doesn't work. I was reading that this might have broken the secure element or something. I've called and been in touch with Google to see if they could help me out buy that's not really going anywhere. Does anyone have any method of completely clearing out the Google Wallet cache or something? I can't even uninstall the app as it's built into the phone or ROM. Any help is much appreciated.
Go into settings, apps and clear it's cache, may have to clear data too

If I remember correctly you need to make sure that you authorize the phone to make payments even though you have broken Google's security. This is if I remember correctly it might be under Google settings. This thread may help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696909.
Hello, it's my first post here so be lenient if you might.
My Idol 3 5.5 came back from repair (power button not working) and they replaced motherboard in order to fix it.
Everything seemed fine until I got home, connected to WiFi and tried to use Google Play. I downloaded all updates pending and tried to use WhatsApp. It said my time and date are wrong, I tried to change it few times, nothing helped. I uninstalled WhatsApp and Messenger (since it didn't work too) and tried to reinstall them. Suddenly notification about Google Play Services update popped out so as it said I did. After the update I've been greeted with whole bunch of similar notifications informing me that none of my apps will work and I have to update Google Play Services. That's a shame I already did... Tried cleaning cache and uninstalling updates etc. Nothing helped, still unable to use apps. After a while It has shown that it can't sync with my Google account, then informed me that I need to connect to the internet in order to use Google Play (I obviously was on my WiFi and internet connection was available, switched to mobile data and same occured). I performed factory reset, the phone didn't boot fo 10 minutes showing Alcatel animation so I turned it off. I opened service menu (power + vol up) and performed wipe from there, rebooted, phone started, configured it and same thing happened - no Google Play for me. I did it one more time, carefully logging in Google Account, not rushing anything in order not to screw up. Still nothing. At this moment I'm really frustrated since I can't use my phone and I'd really not want to send it to repair one more time since it lasts 2 weeks to get it back. Any ideas on how to fix it? Web browser worked fine, sms worked, phone calls were fine. Any ideas?

Maybe give Mobile Upgrade Q a try? It will flash the latest firmware available for your device and will probably fix any software-related problem
Factory reset and then turn on automatical time syncing. Wish you good luck.

Hello,
Is gpay working for you? Tried with gpay open - no reaction when holding near the bank terminal. Tried from home screen - the same. Previous devices like s9, note9 worked fine. Now I cannot find the reason

Turn on NFC?
Nfc is on, and it works, tried with bank card reading
Found out that other nfc apps are not working too. Seems that it is nfc problem with third party apps
I'm having an issue with google pay where it keeps telling me I moved the phone too fast. even though it hasn't moved. I haven't been able to get it working as of yet.
note 20 ultra google pay and nfc doesnt work
works for me. i have the N986U.
Same issue, tried everything. Hoping next OTA fixes it, otherwise I'm servicing the phone.
Has anyone here managed to fix a broken Google Pay on the N9860?
I contacted Google Pay support and they're saying the configuration appears ok but the terminals aren't communicating back to the phone. I have tried changing the secure element to all three options, removing and adding the cards again. This all worked on my previous Note 8 so it seems to be a problem with the N9860 and not my cards/banks.

Sammobile reporting related to this issue: https://www.sammobile.com/news/google-pay-refuses-to-work-galaxy-note-20-ultra/
I have successfully completed a payment in the UK using Google Pay with my N9860 from Hong Kong (TGY) and a UK bank card (Santander).

so according to the article, the latest software version should fix the issue
Have been using NFC Gpay with no problems on Note20 Ultra (Qualcomm).
Google Pay not working fix
Hi
If your Google pay isn't working try these 2 options:
1. Uninstall google pay and re-add the payment method (card) even if you already see the card is there
2. I think this is most probably issue:
When you go to NFC settings in your Samsungs settings not Google Pay app, you'll see "tap and pay",this option will be activated as your nfc is on,tap on the writting and on the bottom of the screen you will see 2 options, left is Payment and right is Others. Tap on "others" and you'll see 2 options: first is Nearby(tap 2 phones to transfer photos/data) and 2nd is Google Pay,make sure that is SELECTED.
Once I selected that option, Google Pay worked.
I contacted Google before, but their brilliant support team and account specialists couldn't figured it out

Another fix... None of the above worked for me and Google support couldn't help either.
I had my giffgaff SIM in slot 1, tried all sorts of stuff for weeks and nothing worked. Eventually I put an O2 SIM into slot 2 and added my cards, problem solved! After a successful transaction, I was then able to remove the O2 SIM and just leave the giffgaff one in and it still works.
I don't know if the problem was the giffgaff SIM, the slot it was in or something else but I honestly tried the above and so much more to no avail. If you're having issues, try swapping SIM slots or put a second SIM in.
Hi.
I got my phone yesterday and added my card successfully in Google pay. Tested it in two different stores today with contactless payment, but the terminal didn't even react.
I tested the nfc on my oneplus against my old huawei and at least it tries reading it, so that means the nfc is working I guess.
Have to add that I was using Google pay in these stores before with my old Huawei with no problems.
EDIT: SOLVED
I changed from SIM1 to Google pay in phone settings to make it work.
I have tested it 2 times, no problems. Phone was unlocked , display on
I tried to pay with Google pay twice yesterday. Both times the phone recognized i was trying to pay, but the payment did not get through. Tested with PayPal and CC both times.
Btw i am curious to know wether i have to open the power menu everytime i want to pay? Or does Google Pay still work from every screen?
Works for me everytime, although it says "not set up"
Worked for me when my BL was locked, working fine with unlocked BL and root. Even paid today.
Working... Rooted....

You need to Magisk Hide Google Pay. While you are at it hide root from everything Google.

I did. Still no work
Ok, strike that. Looks it's working now, but only after restarting the phone. Safetynet failed before restarting and now it passes.
Did some more testing today. Tried for an extended period in the store today with no luck. It's not even reacting. Phone is not rooted btw and I unlock the screen when I try it. I try to open the app when doing it also.
I tried pairing my headset with nfc and that works flawlessly.
So weird
Edit: just found this settings. Think that could be it? (See picture)
I too, am experiencing issues with Google Pay. At first, I thought it was my bank card needing my bank to ok it for Google Pay on the new phone. But then my Walgreens points card didn't work either-so it's definitely NFC or Google Pay oriented. I have everything setup correctly. How annoying and weird...
Changing the settings from SIM1 to Google pay made it work, so problem solved!
Hi folks, had an issue with my camera/torch on my U11. I've had it for about 3 yrs and no troubles. It began crashing with the message "Unable to load the camera" and the torch icon was greyed out. I could see the samera dialog when I pressed the "Clear All" button, but it woul;dn't activate. The tech looked at it and said I could try a factory reset to see if that solves the problem, otherwise they could burn several hours troubleshooting software or replacing the camera, if that was the problem.
I have everything backed up on my Google account, messages, contacts, apps etc, so I tried the factory reset. Had some issues with Google Play crashing initially, once I got past the language change. The app crashed several times before I finally got it to load. Not wanting to restore everything at once, I skipped the step to restore apps from back up and data and went right to the clean phone. Now, when I try and open Google Play Store (or add a Google Account or anything Google), the app crashes just as it gets to the login screen. I've tried re-booting, clearing the cache, disabling the Boost+ as someone suggested in another forum, re-started, checked notifications and permissions but nothing seems to work...time for a new phone or does anyone have any ideas... thanks. Chris

I removed the micro-SD external storage and turned off the WiFi and it connected. Still no camera or torch/flashlight, which is why I went through the whole exercise to begin with. At least I can now log into Google (Play Store, GMail, accounts, etc)....

Thanks bud...while I am capable of going the DIT route, I'm time poor and have already burned a number of hours just getting to the point where I can now at least log in to my Google accounts to re-install apps and such. I will need a camera going forward, but will likely take the easy route that most camera makers prefer and buy a new one...I appreciate you taking your time to reply. Thanks!!
