problems with contacts...

If somebody were to call me or message me, usually i would see their names. For some reason, it only shows their numbers now, is anybody else experiencing or know of the source and/or solution to this problem?

Never happened to me. Is it possible that you have multiple entries per person/phone number in your phonebook? On my nokia e61, that used to happen where if i had the number listed twice, it would jsut get confused. you could try removing all your contacts from your phone then adding them all again

this happens to me too, I am not quite sure what is actually happening but usually if i just power cycle the phone the contacts come back or sometimes I just have resync with outlook.

The problem you mention although seems to be the same, is actually limited to the symbian operating system. I actually had a great chat with a nokia telephone rep who helped me rectify the problem on my e70.
With WM, every time i flash a new ROM the initial customization rips the contacts of my sim and places them in my contacts, so I see 3 of everybody. I then must "hide" SIM contacts, which solves 1/3 of them, then I must find which ones have advanced infos like multi emails, address, etc, and which one came from the sim (only name/#) and delete the one that isnt info rich (if anyone knows a simple way around this please let me know!)
Anyhow, what I am trying to say is duplicate contacts is not your issue. It could be discrepancy between your ROM and provider. If you are using a ROM developed for another provider, that is likely to be at the heart of your issue. My best advice would be to look into a different ROM, and if you are running a custom ROM, look into changing your rilphone.dll.

This is a well known problem on branded Touch Pros. The solution can be found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471329
You need to use Schapp's Advanced Config to adjust number of trailing digits matched. On my one, it was set to 12, I've set it to 10 and the problem is no more!
Search the forum for Advanced Config if you don't already have it.

Self contact in People editing

Hi guys,
I have the the following problem:
When I enter Phone -> People on the top of the list I have "My profile" contact. That's my business card that I often need to share and to some point it worked good. But recently I think it bugged.
There are 3 mobile phone numbers, a couple addresses etc, emails, while I have entered only 2 of each - home and work. Some appear almost true, but some are wrong (maybe I edited something and it saved it). Thing is I can't seem to remove that fake info...
I have/use only Google contacts (no SIM or Phone contacts - unticked).
When I enter to edit my contact information it looks just as I want it - just the Work and the Home info. But when I Preview it after save the bug appears + when I try to share it I have a really looooong list of ticks to undo...and sometimes mistakes happen because of this
I tried fixing it from Browser, but the info in there looks OK as well...
Running stock S4 EU. No root and any modding.
So if anyone any ideas? Don't really want to refer to Factory reset and set up everything all over again

"This is a lost phone" message intermittently

My Oneplus gets "This is a lost phone" message intermittently every day with my loud ringtone. It stops when I press the okay button. This is despite me having it in silent mode.
Since this happens only during my office hours, where I have to leave my phone silent always, I am unable to investigate it rather than just press the OK button and it disappears.
I have my device manager activated in the phone. Thought it was previously my Theftie app which was activated, which I deactivated but the message keeps coming on every day.
Any way how to stop this?

Did you check the " device administrators " list ? Is anything listed in it ?

Device Administrators has Android Device Manager and CyanogenMod Account ticket. Nothing else.

just to rule out, can you remove both and see if you still get the message ? or have you already tried that ?

next time as soon as the incident happens , can you check which wakelock was running ? Use wakelock detector app from google play.
It would be interesting which application is invoking this event !!

I did download wakelock detector but it says it needs root access since KitKat upgrade. Maybe will root it when time permits.
Meanwhile had another instance of the event, when I received a text from an number not in the Contacts. If I remember correctly, it happened yesterday as well when I received a text from a number not in Contacts list.
Really annoying that it happened during a meeting.

Got it in US, but I have now moved back to UK though.
Still have the same problem, but have figured out that it happens when I receive a text from a number not on my contacts list. Have not had a chance to root it though

Make a Backup and do a factory reset.

Just throwing out ideas here, are your Locations turned on ? Maybe since it came from the US and you moved to the UK it "sees" that you are not in the US anymore and that is why it is doing this ?

I do have the Location turned on most of the time. Even when I got it in US from oneplus directly, I have used my same UK sim there as well on roaming.
I have done a backup and reset and it sill happens!

Block the text number and uncheck the settings in device manager and change your gmail password. If it still works after a factory reset and make sure you do not restore your software. It sounds like what I do to my son when he does not pick up the phone I make it ring and I do it through device manager because I have his info...

Did you initially bought it from OnePlus, or did you buy it from another user?

How many text numbers can I block? SInce I am in sales, I get many calls and texts from numbers not in my contact list.
I have unchecked the settings in the device manager and deactivated it. Changed the gmail password a week ago as well, and the problem persists

Bought it directly from OnePlus.

Did you try already deleting the CyanogenMod Account from the settings menu

Yes, done all that is possible. Only thing remaining is rooting the phone (i dont want to unlock the bootloader for that thought)

You could try doing a Backup und then a factory reset.
Not sure if you already got a custom recovery

Quit sure you can block quite a few... If all of what we have suggested still does not work may I suggest you selling your phone and buying another one. Hey try putting sim card in another phone and see if that phone has the same result

HELP!!!!!!!

I added a new dialer and thought that i could deleted the default apk that came with the phone and now i have lost everything and do not know how to get it back. i can call out but cant take incoming calls i only can hang up from the true phone app that gives me the option to end call, but i can not dial a number if needed while in the call. (like when calling the bank) Someone please help i am pretty knowledgeable but made a stupid mistake and thought it was backed up but my sd card crashed and it never said what i deleted so I am not experience enough to deal with this.

Did you root the phone and delete the default Dialer app??
Anyway, try installing some other Dialer app and Contacts app from Play store.
See if the default Dialer or Phone app is disabled in Settings->Apps->Disabled.
If it's disabled, enable them

I have tried everything but I still can't answer. When I make the phone blinks as its going to call screen but nothing happens and it stays on the dialer screen. I have installed dw contact, phone, dialer and still no change. I think there something with the system but there is limited information on this phone model

Yes that is what I did. I thought I was deleting the dialer part only not the whole call/answer screen too

S10e from China sm-g970

hello everyone.
I bought a sm-g970 from China (Dual Sim/128GB)
Now I have the problems, that i cant doing calls with VoLTE. I But my biggest problem is, that Google backup doesn't work. sometimes contacts are synchrozing, etc. but backup not. especially apps not
can I flash another rom? or.what can I do? hope I don't have to send it back. someone have a idea? I wanna use snapdragon variant. living in Switzerland.
2 screenshots are in attachment. You can see there: "backup now"-button is grey and by apps etc. "waiting for backup" since 24 hours. I tried 100 things, but no solution.
