Guys.......plz tell me how to flash android l final preview on n5 safely my n5 is rooted and running slimkat rom i have few questions regarding this...?
since my phone's bootloader is already being unlocked is it safe to flash factory image directly......?
im running slimkat rom does it cause any problem in flashing the factory image of final preview android l
thank you,
Regards
Flashing a factory image shouldn't even require a bootloader unlock , as long as it isn't a downgraded version, so yes from my experience with my RAZR at least that shouldn't be a problem, are you flashing complete stock ROM or just restoring system using twrp?
Might want to try that website.
developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
It's an https://
Sorry I can't post outside links yet
Does that answer your question at all?

Yes. You need a unlocked bootloader to flash factory images.

How do you find the code name of your device? Ex. d2att for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Also, I think (tell me if I'm wrong) that the phones I'm looking at from Wind Mobile work with T-Mobile phones. If this is true, does that mean a ROM in the T-Mobile forum that doesn't list the exact model number of the Wind Mobile phone (ex. if it listed SM-G920T but didn't list SM-G920W8) will still work with that ROM?

Thank you again, that's weird that DuckDuckGo didn't find that .
Unfortunately, I couldn't find the devices I'm looking for there. Could you please answer my other question as well?

unfortunately i cant answer that, but i can comment on it.
there are a small amount of phones that you can flash a rom that wasnt specifically made for it, but if you cant find proof before trying, there is a real risk of permanent brick if your wrong.
take the g3 for instance (only because i know about this device),
you can take a vzw g3 and use it on tmo, but you can not flash a tmo rom on it because it is a vzw phone.
if your just talking about a rom, and not actual stock firmware, the risk of issues is still there, but generally, more likely fixable because its not flashing key partitions that could render your device unfixable.
i am in no way suggesting you try it, only because if it bricks the phone i dont want to be responsible, but if it were me, and i had a backup to restore the phone, and stock files to flash if need be, i would try it. but you would have to be in a position to buy a new phone if things go terribly wrong. if not, then i wouldnt do it.

I'm not sure if we have the same understanding. I mean just like how the Bell Samsung Galaxy S3 can flash AT&T ROMs, I'm wondering if that would be the same for Wind Mobile flashing T-Mobile ROMs even if the model number is not exactly the same (ex. flashing a SM-G920T ROM on a SM-G920W8).
And yeah, I'm talking about flashing an AOSP ROM rather than stock firmware ROM (TouchWiz, Sense, Etc).

maybe you will get some help if you ask in the specific device forum q&a of the devices you need info about. usually thats the best place to ask questions if the device specific forums exist for your models.

Thank you for the suggestion, I was thinking of doing that but I have 4 phones I'm considering getting so I thought it would come off as spamming. Do you still think I should do that?

yea go for it. maybe stagger your post a bit though. dont throw them all in at once.
Canadian here. All T-Mobile ROMs will work on our Canadian owned S6s. Sometimes an extra custom kernel needs to be flashed, but they will work.
Also, try going to download.cyanogenmod.com to search for your device, then you will see the codename at the end of all nightly zip filenames.
Good luck.

Does anybody know, how to CREATE (not flash) fastboot firmware? I'm asking because of this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77463411&postcount=6 . Thanks in advance.

You can't. You can port an already existing firmware from one device to work on a different device if the two devices have the exact same hardware, but you can't just "create" your own firmware.

Droidriven, how can you port the firmware? This is my problem:
How can I clone the firmware of two Android phones with identical hardware?
I have two Huawei Mate 10 Pro (BLA-L29 / C432) bought new in 2018. The first one has EMUI 12 on it for about 6 months and works without problems, the second one does a boot loop ("Your device has failed verification ...") after the update from...

Hello forum users and admins, I have a little question.
I've read on Google that I need the ASII build, but right now i have the latest one, the ASJG.
Do I really need to downgrade my firmware, or I can install it on ASJG.
If it is important, I have checked if my phone is compatible with the beta, I have the G975F and at the CSC I have the letters OXM, but not the ASII. Also, if it' important, I am from Romania, and bought the phone from here.
Thanks.<3

There are plenty of people here, but no one has an answer for you.
You can try it without downgrading but you'd be better off to just do what the thread says since those instructions are known to work.

Please help me to unlock bootloader on this phone please.
When i do fastboot oem unlock it just returns
Unlock operation is not allowed.
This is my first thread please help.
I need help with that too.
I can't post it bcuz if it gets widely spread, they'll patch it. If they haven't already. I can however tell you where to go. Search on Reddit, you'll find it in no time. At least, that's where I found it. You have to search deep, but you'll find it.

Maybe we have to contact Nokia itself? Can you send them message on Instagram or Facebook?
I have kind of the same problem (I just want to root the Nokia 2.2), and I've just seen this announcement on this forum, from Oct 13 2020: "Official LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10 is here for the Nokia 6.1"
It says that "HMD Global’s Nokia is known for offering a clean stock Android experience on its devices and the stock Android One ROM on the Nokia 6.1 is no different. The OEM, however, cracks down on the ability to modify the software on their devices, which means there is no simple way you can unlock the bootloader of your Nokia phone and install a custom recovery like TWRP, root, and flash custom ROMs (either in the form of GSIs or device-specific ROMs)."
From this it would seem that is actually impossible to root and / or unlock the bootloader of any HMD Global’s Nokia phone (like the 2.2, 6.1, or any other). Is this really the case?
