How do you find the code name of your device? Ex. d2att for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Also, I think (tell me if I'm wrong) that the phones I'm looking at from Wind Mobile work with T-Mobile phones. If this is true, does that mean a ROM in the T-Mobile forum that doesn't list the exact model number of the Wind Mobile phone (ex. if it listed SM-G920T but didn't list SM-G920W8) will still work with that ROM?

unfortunately i cant answer that, but i can comment on it.
there are a small amount of phones that you can flash a rom that wasnt specifically made for it, but if you cant find proof before trying, there is a real risk of permanent brick if your wrong.
take the g3 for instance (only because i know about this device),
you can take a vzw g3 and use it on tmo, but you can not flash a tmo rom on it because it is a vzw phone.
if your just talking about a rom, and not actual stock firmware, the risk of issues is still there, but generally, more likely fixable because its not flashing key partitions that could render your device unfixable.
i am in no way suggesting you try it, only because if it bricks the phone i dont want to be responsible, but if it were me, and i had a backup to restore the phone, and stock files to flash if need be, i would try it. but you would have to be in a position to buy a new phone if things go terribly wrong. if not, then i wouldnt do it.

I'm not sure if we have the same understanding. I mean just like how the Bell Samsung Galaxy S3 can flash AT&T ROMs, I'm wondering if that would be the same for Wind Mobile flashing T-Mobile ROMs even if the model number is not exactly the same (ex. flashing a SM-G920T ROM on a SM-G920W8).
And yeah, I'm talking about flashing an AOSP ROM rather than stock firmware ROM (TouchWiz, Sense, Etc).

maybe you will get some help if you ask in the specific device forum q&a of the devices you need info about. usually thats the best place to ask questions if the device specific forums exist for your models.

Canadian here. All T-Mobile ROMs will work on our Canadian owned S6s. Sometimes an extra custom kernel needs to be flashed, but they will work.
Also, try going to download.cyanogenmod.com to search for your device, then you will see the codename at the end of all nightly zip filenames.
Good luck.

So here's the thing. I accidentally put Sphinx Rom on my D850. The rom is only for D855. Now my mic and headset do not work. I have tried to flash back to stock rom, but it won't let me since it believes my phone is an D855 now. Anyone have any ideas?

This is just a thought, but maybe you could check your build.prop and compare it to that of an untouched D850 and mirror that on your device / look for any differences. I have used this trick to fool certain apps/etc to install by making them think one device was another device, for example, installing tablet only games on a phone. I am not sure if this would remedy your situation and allow you to return to stock, especially with our current bootloader situation making it all the more difficult.
I guess one other option would be to get it replaced under warranty, without being "untruthful" to your carrier of course... Just play dumb
Just food for thought like I said, and your mileage may vary.
Maybe others can chime in and add some other thoughts.
Good luck!

All, correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the D855 is the international version, while the D851 is the T-Mobile version.
OP said that the ROM was only for D855.
Thoughts?
The title specifies a d850 not a d851. The d850 has a locked bootloader therefor you cannot install a custom recovery let alone a rom. I dont care if the rom was a d855 or d851 or for the d850.

OK I'm confused, why are you even talking about a d851 at all? The 2 devices that the OP listed was a D850 and D855. We all all aware of the differences of the devices that is why we are questioning how he flashed anything on the D850 in the first place

He didn't. It's virtually impossibly without unlocked boot loader and custom recovery. If he had it would have rendered it unbootable.
I'm just wondering I jumped conclusions on this device originally and made a hasty rant about the phone in aggravation over the locked BL.. Which was my fault .
I have since second guessed that and repurchased a 2nd s7 it's a truly great phone really believe that .
I'm only here to get real opinions on the likelihood we will get what we want which is A method to unlock bootloader what's everyone's honest thoughts that it either likely will or won't happen even at this point .Any reputable sources anywhere showing progress besides the petition?
I read an article that the phone can be rooted under developer settings "oem unlock" then Odin the .tar file for US version....
Found it on PhoneArena.com

T-Mobile is supposed to be working with Samsung to unlock the bootloader if you look at John's tweet about it. I don't know how far that'll go or how much they care, though.
Fortunately, if you look through the replies, T-Mobile's official account replied on the 21st

My idea Is that this s7 Bootloader issue thats so important to the root community and actually myself which we happen to be a small fraction of the over all consumer base.... is likely considered minor and extra headache in the big scheme of things to Samsung.. they figure the loss of loosing root community consumers is a future gain to not have to deal with us down the road .
Anything is possible with getting a tool or method to unlock but these tweets aren't implying much at this point ..another words the feedback and progress is who knows .
One recognized developer mentioned that if we do get it will likely be the end of the course run for this device by the time it arrives.

Hello forum users and admins, I have a little question.
I've read on Google that I need the ASII build, but right now i have the latest one, the ASJG.
Do I really need to downgrade my firmware, or I can install it on ASJG.
If it is important, I have checked if my phone is compatible with the beta, I have the G975F and at the CSC I have the letters OXM, but not the ASII. Also, if it' important, I am from Romania, and bought the phone from here.
Thanks.<3

There is not a stock firmware available for that specific device, faked devices don't have any software support. You're chasing a ghost.
The best you can hope for is a firmware that is "close" to what you need and even if you install it, there will probably be features and functions that won't work without modifying the firmware to make it completely compatible with the device.
Personally, I suggest they forget about that device and get a non-faked device, they'll be better off that way.
I don't understand why anyone would waste their money on fake devices and then think they can do the things with it that can be done with brand named devices.
It's like intentinally and knowingly spending money to have your face stomped into the dirt.
I would think that the average person is smarter than that, but I guess not.

If your device has a stock firmware that is available to the public, then why haven't you downloaded it and flashed it? I'll tell you why, because it doesn't exist, that is why.
So, I say again....
No, that is not true at all. Not all devices have a stock firmware that is available to the public. This is especially true for cloned/faked devices. I've never seen a cloned device that has a firmware that is available to be downloaded and flashed. Everyone I've ever seen here with a cloned/fake device that needed a stock firmware has had to find firmware from a different device that is close to the same thing as the device they had and then modify the firmware to work on their device, some never find anything that works.
Sure, parts of the stock ROM can be dumped from the device if it is rooted, but, that won't give you the entire firmware from the device, there are parts that can't be dumped.
I don't think you understand what is going on as well as you think you do.
I searched for the firmware for you. I found a lot of devices with P31 in the name, some of them have a firmware that is available, but none of them were the device you have. I did not find anything that you can use.
See what I mean? Cloned devices have absolutely no software support of any kind. The people that make these devices don't care about supporting their product or supporting the customer, all they care about is making the devices and selling them to whatever fool will buy them.
When you buy a fake device, you take your chances and you better hope nothing goes wrong because you're pretty much screwed if it does.
