Hi
As the poco f2 and the redmi k30 pro zoom are basically the same phones
Can I replace the original camera with the ones from the k30 pro?
You can get the module with all cameras for 14€
I know it will void my warranty but I don't care
Technically I can open the device and replace the camera
But will it work? The main camera I am sure will work because it's the same sensor and you will gain OIS
But I am a little worried about the fact that the macro camera at the same time gets replaced with the zoom camera and I doubt the camera software can handle that?
Any ideas?
First you need to open the case like he does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZWMxwcFZOc
If your idea will work, dunno. Try it if you want.
Yes I know how to open the device and replace the camera
But I wonder if it's useless to try or the change is pretty good that it might work
OIS is not added by updates or other similar things. It is added to the structure as a movable lens that prevents vibration. You cant add OIS, because poco f2 pro does not have a movable lens

So if you buy a camera module with lens from K30 zoom that has OIS then Poco F2 Pro will have OIS.
Though I'm not sure if there has to be some sort of firmware 'flag' that activates OIS in camera apps. Only way to know is to try I guess.
The replacement camera module contains the ois parts of it as its the complete module but it includes all cameras Incl the zoom one
I am not worried about the main shooter this one will work because it is the same one just ois but I am worried about the zoom camera replacing the makro

i think it will work but you would need to rebrand your phone to k30 pro zoom for telephoto module properly work with stock system for that device
It will work, do it.
if so, does it need any software changes to recognize the new camera configuration?
For 14 bucks just do it

I don t think so. Usually that kind of information like OIS, EIS support and so on are written into the low level microfirmware of the device (camera in this case). Then is the OS and app that read those information and use it.

even if the type of camera is changed? because there would be a Telephoto instead of Macro
Go for it, if all the connections of the board and cameras are the same. It should work.
I think you'll maybe need to flash the k30 pro's firmware but I'm not sure about that
not workin like that..
Sorry if the question sounds sassy, but why not buy the version you want, rather than bother with a hack that obviously won't work ?

Life is full of compromises, sometimes we do with a 4g tape less because the device is really cool and cheap
Or you choose a device available in your country with the required functions, there are options that require you to put the price or buy a real high-end product sometimes
You can't have everything for 300 € with a Poco product, I love mine but you have to be realistic

What has any of this got to do with replacing the camera module for a better one??

The OnePlus 5T proved to be quite a challenge when it came to the ported Gcam app, while other Devices just worked. Apparently this was due to some weird Software/Firmware handling by OnePlus.
Has there been any info yet, on how OnePlus is handling their Camera on the 6? The Hardware has changed, but are they still using Camera API1 like on the 5T?
Btw...when will we start Seeing Reviews? Test Samples should be out there, but currently they still have some kind of NDA or Press embargo...
camera2 API is enabled by default
Good news. If you already have the OnePlus 6, can you test one of the recent Gcam Ports? Thanks!

don´t work
App crashed when you open it
im curious about this embargo
so many people have the op6 and no one is talking about it in depth
im really curious about VOLTE and camera performance
if it doesnt have VOLTE then thats a no go for me
and as for camera, i have a p20 pro, i love the camera (i hate the selfie cam its so soft and beautified)
id hop on the op6 if the camera can come somewhat close to the p20 pro (i.e dxomark rating in the 3x digits) or atleast top 5 phones.
i had a 5T before my P20 pro and i really miss the speed and fluidity of it, and the ram management on the p20 pro is noticably sub-par
my op5t was incredibly quick, and its noticable that the p20 pro is somewhat slower.
The embargo seems to be gone now. The first Reviews are out, but still quite superficial. It will probably take a bit for the more thorough tests...

Coul you check camera2probe to check which hardware level it supports?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.weis.camera2probe
The 5T reports Level 3, but all three options below are then crossed out. What does the 6 say?

It has dual sim volte support
Would like to know if it works too.
I am planning on getting the s8+, but if oneplus 6 got gcam, I might consider it
User latomeri on Reddit ran the camera probe and got "Full" for back and "Limited" for front.
I'm not allowed to post the URL here because I'm a new XDA user, you can see it at
reddit.com / r / oneplus / comments / 8kwiu7 / questions_for_those_who_already_have_the_device
A missing camera2api implementation was never the issue.
Also, it needs to be full because it has to support raw.
The issue is the wrong raw stream in hal3 which gets provided by the driver to the Google Camera.
Before anyone asks, I canceled my order so I don't have the OP6.
Wont buy until gcam support is confirmed.

Since the 5T reports no support and the 6 says Full, there does seem to be a difference. Let's see how it goes...

Full. If I'm not mistaken, that's actually worse than level 3
Interesting.
My OnePlus 6 arrived today, and the Gcam V7 beta 9 seems to work, but I don't think HDR+ is actually functional...at least it doesn't look like it...
Other Gcam version just fc on launch, but I haven't tried them all yet obviously...
From what I just read, Level3 is actually needed for RAW capture, so that might act be the problem with Gcam HDR+?
Any updates ?? somebody are working on a port?
From reading around, it appears that the Snapdragon 845 just isn't compatible with Gcam. Once we get a new Pixel with SB845 that will change. Whether someone can crewte a workaround before then is uncertain...
We just need to wait for GCam to be ported to SD845.
Hey guys,
I'm currently working on a mod to enable longer shutter speeds than 1/4.
So far I've been able to enable the options till 16s, but when i capture the photo, it just has a max shutter speed of 1s in stock camera.
I'm using the files from this thread as a reference.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....ong-exposure-redmi-note-4-redmi-t3657343/amp/
If anyone has any prior knowledge in this topic, please do guide me. As I'm still new to this stuff.
Thank you
Update :
Tried a few changes, broke the camera, but manual mode worked and 16s exposure started, but crashed after 5s.
Trying again.

On which camera sensor module are you working ? Because the Indian RN5P variant has Sony IMX486 Sensor, which (supposedly) supports slower Shutter speeds, while the global/chinese RN5 AI variant has Samsung S5K2L7 Sensor, which has some limitations for slower shutter speeds.

I have the Indian Variant, So IMX486..
more specifically the libmmcamera_whyred_imx486_ofilm_global_i.so file from /vendor/lib/
but I noticed that there is another file libmmcamera_whyred_imx486_ofilm_global_i_eeprom.so, which is really weird.
and Apparently Mi A2 also has IMX 486 which has support upto 32s

If possible, you may try experimenting by using camera libs from MI A2, because it has the same IMX486 sensor which is used in our Indian RN5 Pro. You may also contact me for testing purpose. I'll be happy to help you.

I'm the OP haha ..
And no we cant, Because those are just gimmicks and not the real deal..
What (I think )it does is ... It captures a 1080p video in 30 fps and stacks those 30 frames with each other to create a "long exposure"
Thats why when you check the picture resolution afterwards, its only 2MP ie 1920x1080.
More capable hardware can shoot 4k videos and do this, giving you 8MP shots ( This is what Slow Shutter App does for older iPhones)
But why stop at 2 or 8MP when you can get more light and more resolution by enabling actual long exposures

Hi, I know the only way to improve max exposure time is modify i2c regs which in camera lib. But I don't know how to modify, there are all hex. But someone did it before, the bug is, exposure time fixed at about 8s

As these libs are c++ shared objects, I've used the ndk toolchains to disassemble the files. Now I've got a bunch of arm assembly codes. The link I've mentioned in the OP. That guy has made 3 mods 8,16 and 32s.
So I was comparing the changes he made.
Do you have any experience with assembly programming?

Apart from the frustrating fact that you can't record video and that the ultra-wide lens isn't very wide, the colors and seem to be extremely off in the comparisons I've seen to the point that I don't know if it's solvable through a software update. Maybe fixing the distortion and the super low saturation through software will somewhat save it, I don't know. Heck, even Mi 9 has a clearly superior ultra-wide WITH recording. What do you think? Does anyone that has the phone have a different experience? I want to buy this phone, but at this point in my country it's about the same price as a S10+ (Exynos) and I'm struggling to make a decision.
I wish GCam mods come early to save this mess.

I cannot answer specifically to the 7 Pro, but I can tell you that the colour science is off on my now-sold Galaxy S10 Plus Exynos version. Switching between the main lens and the wide angle lens in the same exact lighting and spot yields different colour reproduction. It might be down to the actual lens used in junction with the software, but I can safety say that this problem isn't exclusive to the 7 Pro if anything.
Also, don't buy the Exynos version of the S10. It has garbage battery life, and has different camera lenses to the SD version that have shown to be inferior to the SD version.
There is a setting in the camera called "Ultra Wide Lens Correction." I wonder if testers are switching this setting to see if this is the issue. I just got mine, but it's night time right now so I will need some time to test (but I only have the LG G7 ThinQ to compare to.)

Yes, but at least every other wide angle camera in the market gives decent results. 7 Pro's results are very undersaturated, very soft and sometimes seem like out of focus.
I know about the S10+. If it was a Snapdragon version I would have already bought it.

Great! Post some samples when you can. I'm not that worried about the lens correction, I don't mind the distortion. My problem is mainly the saturation and softness of detail. If you can, post original results + "corrected" versions using Snapseed/Photoshop to check if some post-processing saves the day at least. Thank you in advance!

It really depends. It might not be fixable with gcam.
The main camera uses a pretty good sensor. But it is a different sensor for the wide angle lens. So the quality of the wide angle shots will heavily depend on the quality of the sensor they use for their wide angle lens. It might be a weak sensor, we don't know right now. Huawei uses 4 Sony sensors for example, their wide angle pictures are pretty good. And yes, the best hardware is useless without a good software. But the best software also can't fix a bad sensor.
Not saying that it is a bad sensor, it's just that we don't know by now. We might have to wait for a teardown and some talented devs to see what is inside and if it is fixable.
I can only link you the specs from dxomark:
Primary: 48Mp Sony IMX586 sensor (12Mp output size), 26mm-equivalent lens with f/1.6 aperture and OIS
Ultra-wide: 16Mp sensor, 17mm-equivalent lens with f/2.2 aperture
Telephoto: 8Mp sensor, 78mm-equivalent lens with f/2.4 aperture and OIS

Hi all,
just bought Poco F2 pro Cyber Gray color but i want to change it little bit;
First i want to add the Mint Green battery back from the K30 Ultra,
Also maybe the green pop up camera too
next i want to add green power button instead of the red one.
I wanted to ask if i will have some problems with this??
First: Does the back cover of the k30 ultra is exactly the same for k30 pro/f2 pro??
Second: which power button (green ofc) is same from other xiaomi devices for k30 pro/f2 pro??
and third: any others problems i'd may run into??
So do you think its a good idea to make this changes?
Any other suggestions for more customization?
Thanks all!!!
They are identical....
Second .... Dont bother...its a lot of work and maybe a quality skin (d-brand) could sort you out without the hassle.
But again all is on you.....the phones are the same but have different name.
Best of luck and if you happen to change it please post pics....i would like to see it.
Take care of yourself
