Hello! I had a problem this weekend with my sensation. I am from Europe, Romania, on Vodafone. I went to a cabin near the mountains with my girlfriend and she has a SGS. My htc sensation is full stock with the latest firmware 1.45.410.2. The network was set on WCDMA/GSM, and I usually tick Mobile Network when I check my e-mails, keeping it off the rest of the time.
The problems started when I received my first call. I could speak with the person for 10 seconds, after which the sound was cut off on both sides, but the phone kept counting the seconds as if nothing had happened. Awkwardly, when I placed the call there were no problems. So only if I received the calls.
The signal was kind of oscillating, there were times when it was full, and then it fell to 2 bars. Meanwhile my girlfriend with her Galaxy S that had the exact same settings (WCDMA/GSM and Mobile network on only when she needs it) and had absolutely no problems.
After I gave it a thought I turned the radio to GSM only, and had no problems at all. The inbound calls went through very smooth and there were no more problems.
Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a fix?
Thanks!
I had this also two or three times, but it seems the Sensation has weak signal generally... also WLAN is not as good as my previous phones...
maybe any update can provide a solution for the incoming call issue

Take care of the death grip.
Search to know more about it. But to sum up, it's a problem that makes you signal drop because of your hand covering the location where the antenna is.

Hello,
I updated my Xperia L to 2.17 yesterday,and today,about a few hours ago,my phone lost all signal.
How it happened was weird though-
I first noticed this when i tried to make a call and it wouldn't go through. At that time, the signal bars were full.
Then,i tried to send a text message.Same issue-not delivered, with the signal bars still full.
I thought it could be network issue and put the phone into airplane mode and out of,about 3-4 times.still the signal bars are full, but no call/message was going through.
Fed up,i rebooted the phone twice.Same status! .signal meter is showing full, but no calls/messages going through.
Then, after 5 minutes, the signal meter showed no signal-emergency calls only.
then, about half an hour, network came back up and i was able to use the phone as usual.
It couldnt be a provider issue as another phone with the same provider sim worked fine.I also had plenty of talk-time left so,its not an issue of that either.plus,i was in direct line of sight of multiple towers.
for some background-the sim is about 4 years old.plus,to get 3g working on my phone,i had to play with the settings a bit and it could only be activated after my service provider did some hocus-pocus.since then,i got fed up with their ridiculous prices and shifted back to 2g.
The same sim was in use in a hardy nokia1100 and then a Nokia 6020 till a month back, when i got the XL.and never have i faced such an issue before.
Is it a phone issue?I have attached a screenshot of the battery usage-it shows the network issue in red.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2177124&stc=1&d=1376067822
Initially,i neglected this in the battery page-this is not the first time the battery page shows network was dropped.it has happened multiple times before,only-this time,i saw it happen live when i was using the phone.so,its not a sudden issue and has been there for a bit of a while.
Another fault i noticed sometimes-when i receive a call-it drops off and i have to dial them back.
However,if i were to make the call,it works just fine.happens very rarely though.
so,do i change the sim or go to the service center?is it a radio/antenna issue?
Kindly advise,
Regards
Suraj
Sorry for bumping old thread. but i got same problem here.

The signal of my Xperia L fall all time, what I do?
Im have the same problem, what I do? (this is the title)
Hi,
From past three days, signal is not showing up on the phone. And it only shows a red triangle with a white plus sign on it.(Emergency Calls Only)
I didnt do any changes to the phone, it just randomly started three days ago.
I am on Indian version of unlocked Motorola atrix 2 MB865.
I am on jellybean 4.1.2 for past many months. So I dont suspect the ROM.
I have tried using some other sims also.(It is NOT the problem of the Sim)
I usually get full signal at my place.
I have searched internet thoroughly and read almost all the threads related to this topic, but it didnt help me much.
Things I have tried till now.-->
- Swapped sims with many other phones.
- Installed the "Network" app and many other similar apps which was suggested in some other threads.
- Switched Flight mode on and off.
- Factory reset the phone.
- Kept it off for hours and then checked again.
- Prayed that it will get fixed soon
Q) Did you try turning it off and on again?
Ans) Yes..yes.. Many many times. Sometimes, after reboot it shows signal for 2-5 minutes, but I CANT make/receive any calls/sms(The call just drops two seconds after dialling)
PS:- I think that when I received the last call, I was listening music on my headset and I had received the call with the headset.
Thank You very much.

Baseband version is showing as 2012-0712 09:44 Off Blf LUD_EDISON_R1E_PATCH_36_120712_0920 ch1090280_M570_PC_CARD_RAINB
I have now found that it is due to very very poor reception.... For some reason, this phone's signal reception has drastically reduced.
I can get signal only if I go out, still the signal strength is shown at maximum -75dB and frequently dropping to -100dB. I was able to make one call and it dropped as soon as i entered inside the house.
(The same sim on other phones have full range even inside house)
What is the suggested solution?
Thanks

Seems to be a hardware issue then. Is your phone within warranty, by chance?
Nop it is not in warranty.

If you can't afford to help, then what's the point of this post?
Increasing post count I guess.
Might be a loose connection after a drop ?
Your best bet would be to dissamble the phone and assemble again. In the meantime check the connectors and others if they're in their place. There're good disassembly videos for atrix 2 in youtube.

K s h i t i j s, who is your network provider? EDIT: Just saw that you're on MTNL.
I have been having a similar problem for a similar length of time with my Atrix 2 and I'm on stock ICS. I got my sim replaced by Vodafone but the problem persisted so I asked the guy who originally sold it to me to get it checked out (warranty is long gone).
He mentioned that another customer of his with the same phone also developed the same problem around November or December 2013. Both that guy and I are on Vodafone, Mumbai.
In testing, his phone worked perfectly with an Airtel sim and mine worked perfectly with a borrowed IDEA sim. Both our sims work perfectly in other phones. Both were then sent to the official service centre but they essentially threw their hands up.
The coincidental timing of the problem for two (maybe three) phones of the same model leads one to think there must something with the network broadcasting? Could someone with better knowledge of the subject (mine is approximately nil) comment?
I thought it was me because I was driving or at a bad place in my home but I was wrong. My edge drops calls almost exactly at the 30-40 minute mark in my phone calls. It has happened all week but it was really noticable when it dropped and I looked at the time during one conversation. Anybody have this happen to them? I was told to replace it at a store. And we all know how plentiful the phones are… .:/
I recently had this problem occur again. This is after having a new phone. I called t-mo tech support and they said that the facebook messenger app has been causing a lot of problems with the call connectivity of the phone. I just uninstalled the app and am waiting to make a long phone call to see if this was the true culprit.
sent from the Edge
I think its just T-Mobile. My calls disconnect all the time. And my phone says no network connection a lot. (Even before I got the Edge) I think when the network connection drops, so does the call. This was even worse for me on the Sprint network though so I just live with it now that I'm with T-Mobile.
Galaxy Note Edge- phone call dead
My problem is from time to time phone call will be dead like no sound at all on either side even though there is network signal and the phone is showing call duration. I have to restart the phone in order to make phone call then its fine for unspecified amount of time then it happens again. Had my Note Edge for 3 weeks now and its pain in the neck. BTW I'm from Australia.
Many of you have seen the multiple threads on multiple forums about the call quality issues with the Pixel 3 and 3XL, so I won't dig into that any further. Instead, I am asking if those who have issues can list the signal strength as reported by your device in the area where the call issues occur?
For example, my wife and I only had call issues at our house, where both of our devices registered -115 dBm of signal strength. This was not a problem for our Pixel 2's. When calling from my job, the issue was far less frequent and the signal strength is approximately -100 dBm. Finally, we received a signal booster from our carrier for the house and the call issues went away completely, measuring -80 dBm.
Based on this, I can only assume the Pixel 3's hardware is not holding on to signals as well as other phones and I need your help determining if the problems go away above a certain signal strength threshold.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Open the stock phone dialer app
2. Enter the test menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#*
3. Select "Phone Information"
4. Find the "Signal Strength" line and report the value you see.
Once again, please only list yours from an area where you experience consistent call quality issues.
Hi,I'm having call quality issues on my Pixel 3 with -108 dBm of signal strength
My third pixel xl. All 3 of them never had call issues. Other issues yes. Thankfully calling is good
Semi-related question. I'm on Project Fi. When I check the Phone Info "wifi calling provisioned" appears to be off and greyed out. When I check Settings it's enabled. My wifi signal is very strong, I'm sitting about 10 ft from the router. Not sure how to interpret that "provisioned" status. Also, wifi calling could theoretically mess up the stats from your cell signal strength data.
I have had my pixel 3xl for a week now,
And I must report that for me there have been no call quality issues whatsoever.
I'm on 3 (UK)
Signal strength: -84 dBm to 56 asu what does it mean?
I don't really have any call issues but my signal is 115-118 inside my house
If you're in an area with poor signal and you're using VoLTE the static noise/buzzing will occur . It's been pinpointed as a baseband/kernel issue the version on the 3/3XL's are incompatible with certain towers. In areas with good signal the buzzing/static won't be there over cell. If you're in an area with poor/mediocre service turn off VoLTE and to make calls on 3G and there will be no buzzing. Sadly the issue still persists with WiFi calling though.
I have more drop calls on this device then any other. Mostly driving, gotta be tower issues. My other phone didn't have this issue, but I'm with Verizon now I was with Sprint.
Tmobile -109 no bad call quality and decent data when not in super old building.
-105 for me
happening on BOTH pixel 3's on verizon. had pixel 1's before and NO issue. other users, including samsung and iphone on same plan, no probs. signal at -95 and -93 in 2 locations that I have had problems. I don't believe just signal strength, as both have good strength (tried both cdma and lte) and still issues. not all the time. funny thing, I was on conference call with both verizon and google when audio on my end just dropped, I could not hear anything and they could not hear anything but calls still connected. another time was on phone with verizon and she said (yes..she said) was very choppy. that was 1/9/19. called back 1/15, "John" then scheduled him self to call me back 11am yesterday (never called), now back on phone with verizon and she just had me fact reset phone. she said next step, new sim cards (I had not thought of that) and then replacement. Hate to say it, almost ready to go iphone.
Idk still no issues here

This is a very similar experience my wife had with T-Mobile. I have the same phone but don't have the problems, so it isn't a network issue, but the problem did go away once we started receiving a stronger signal with the booster.
Keep working with Google and they'll send you a new device, unless you purchased from Verizon and they'll make you jump through hoops.

I have it on my Pixel 3 expecially in my office where the signal is not good. I did some test and I've noticed that the problem goes away if I switch to 2g (maybe for the better signal quality) but after 5/8 minutes the audio goes away, the other person doesn't hear me while the call stays open.
While testing I've also noticed that leving the phone in LTE with low signal in 4 hours (with podcast listenig and varius phone calls) I lost 40% of battery, in 2g I lost 20%.
My thought are that the device has a radio problem, high battery drain and call noise with low signals

Update: 1/24/19. After fact reset and new sim card still same issues. Verizon sending out 2 "like new" pixel 3's. I read one post where user and wife both on 5th! RMA pixel 3 and same issue! I mentioned to Verizon rep and questioned option to switch to iphone if happens with "new" phones, she said not normal but there can be exceptions. Hope I don't end up blue in the face.
